7/12/04 - It is with deep regret and much sadness that I add this final update.  Yesterday, July 11th marked a horrible day in my life. My beloved friend died in my arms after suffering what the veterinarian
believes was a massive heart attack.  Chapin was 4 1/2 years young.

Chapin and I did not have a lot of time together but in the few short months that I enjoyed his
company, he truly became a part of my family. His wiggles of joy and boxer love brought many smiles
to everyone in my family and he quickly became well-loved throughout my neighborhood as well.

I can not express how much happiness he brought to my family here but just wished to share with
everyone what a wonderful companion Chapin was to us.  He spent everyday keeping my disabled dad
company and every evening bringing smiles to my and my children's faces.

Chapin you will be sorely missed my friend! May your journey over the bridge be beautiful and
filled with the knowledge that you left this world much loved.  Your forever friend, Dinamarie
7/9/04 - Chapin continues to meld with our family. He still displays very protective behavior when
someone approaches my front door but he is absolutely loving and wonderful. It is hard to remember
the pre-Chapin days because he is truly one of the family. He enjoys his daily walks and anxiously
awaits the kids coming home so he can romp and play. The vet says he is in excellent health (although
he remains a little heavy). Occasionally he likes to get into the garbage and make a mess but
otherwise he is such a great addition to my family. :)

5/25/04 - Chapin is a wonderful addition to my family!  From the very first moment, I was in love with his
beautiful boxer eyes. He came home so willingly and settled right in as if he had always been there. My children absolutely adore Chapin and actually fight over who will feed him and give him water and treats. Chapin has ingratiated himself with my parents, especially my dad who loves him dearly and considers Chapin his playmate during the day. It is so funny though because I had initially told my dad that boxers don't drool and Chapin quickly made a liar out of me so my dad is constantly teasing me about that.
Chapin has enjoyed testing his boundaries and recently stole a whole loaf of garlic bread (which he ate down to the last crumb). But other than some isolated issues, he has been very good. Thank you very much for allowing me the opportunity of enjoying this magnificent dog.  Every where we go he is the best of ambassadors and just so wonderful. I will post again soon with some more updates.

4/30/04 - Dina just called for her 1 week update on Chapin.  She said they are so happy with him and love everything about him.  She said he has fit right in with her family and is loving life.  He has already learned who in the family likes to roughhouse with him and who just wants to snuggle.  She said that he has been wonderful with not touching any toys that don't belong to him and loves to play with her two boys.  She said that while she is at work, her father and her sons tire Chapin out so much that when she gets home, he comes downstairs with her while she does work on the computer and he just crashes.  The way Dina put it, she couldn't have asked for a better dog.  They all love him very much.  Another great match for BAR.  YEAH!!

4/24/04 - Chapin left a little bit ago with his new family.  His new mom Dina
just fell in love with him.  He went very willingly into the car and settled in right away.  He did turn and stare at me through the back window as they pulled away though.  But, I'm sure he will be just fine.  He is going to be an only pet and he only has to share attention with his two new skin brothers.  The skin kids loved him too.  I think this is a great match.  Chapin is going to be one spoiled pup.

4/22/04 - Chapin is pending adoption.

4/21/04 - Hey guys, Chapin here.  This place has been great.  I get spoiled with lots of love and attention.  They have skin kids for me to play with, two resident dogs that run around with me to give me exercise, and my foster mom and dad to give me lots of love.  They also have these things called cats that I would love to have a taste of.  They play this neat game of chase with me and if they weren't so quick, I could actually get that taste.  Oh and my foster family gives me toys galore to play with.  I have this one squeaky red ball that is my favorite.  I sometimes forget I am carrying it around and I have even fallen asleep with it in my mouth.  Foster mom said it was pretty funny.  I couldn't see cause I was sleeping.  Anyway, all is good here.  But I can't wait for that "forever home" they keep telling me about.  That word forever sounds great.  Bye for now.

4/15/04 - Chapin is doing very well here.  It has been almost a week since he has had any arguments with either of my dogs.  He's a funny boy.  He likes to play with my dogs, but he even loves to play all by himself.  All he needs is a ball and he is happy as can be.  He walks around with a ball in his mouth probably at least 90% of the time.  When he gets real excited when we come home from someplace, he immediately goes and grabs his ball, and then comes wiggling and talking to say hello.  He's not really a jumper, but he sure is a talker.  Chapin is a very vocal Boxer boy.
We have discovered a wonderful thing about Chapin.  He does not need to be crated while you are out.  He doesn't touch a thing as long as you leave a few dog toys out for him to play with, especially his ball.  He is such a good boy.
Chapin is a big strong boy who can play hard if you play hard with him.  We have been working on getting him to not be too mouthy when he plays.  He has gotten better since he got here.  He's even learning to stop and give kisses.
I can't say enough good things about this boy.  He will make a great addition to just about any home.  We'll be waiting for that special call.

4/10/04 - Chapin is settling in more and more each day.  He's still trying to figure out his place with my two dogs, but they are starting to have a blast playing together.  Their favorite thing to do is go outside and run and play in the sun.  He was out with my dogs almost all day yesterday.  Every time I let them in the house, they wanted to go right back out.
With slow introductions to other dogs, this boy will be a great addition to any family.  Won't you consider making him part of yours??

4/6/04 - Chapin is staring to settle in a little more.  He is allowed free run of the house along with our dogs during the day.  We still crate him at night and when we go out so their are no skiffs between dogs when we can't watch them.  Chapin and my male get along great and play wonderfully
together.  Chapin and my female on the other hand have to be watched more closely.  They are both more on the dominant side so there sometimes is a little friction.  For the most part though as long as they aren't too excited and jumping on each other they are fine.
Chapin is very protective of his house.  He does need to be held until the person comes into the house and then once he sniffs them and determines they are safe, then he is fine.  I would not allow him to greet people at the door though.
All in all, Chapin is a joy to have around.  He would be a great only dog or if you have a fairly submissive dog, he would love that too.  He's pretty easy going and loves people of all ages when he gets to know them.  He is great with my children who are 3, 6, & 8 years old.  He loves every one of them.
Take a look at Chapin's pictures and see how beautiful this big boy is.

4/4/04 - Chapin arrived here at the M & M Boxer Bunker around 5:00 yesterday evening.  Upon first impression, he proved to be a very sweet and happy dog.  He does seem to pull on the leash a bit when walking, but he seems to be very obedient as well.  You tell him sit, and he sits.  Tell him down, and he lays down.  Tell him come, and he comes.  Stay is a little tougher in a new and exciting environment.
Chapin has met our 3 young children and he seems to just love them.  All he wants to do is follow them and kiss them.  He has also met both our resident Boxers and is doing good with them after careful introductions.
Chapin slept in the crate last night which he was not too happy about.  From what I understand, he has not been crated since he was a puppy, so he wasn't quite sure about having to go in there last night.  He whimpered for a little while, but then settled down and went to sleep until he awoke this morning and needed to go out.
Chapin is fully housebroken and hasn't even tried to mark anything like some male dogs do.
Chapin does seem a little protective of the house and yard.  He will grumble and bark at cars and people who approach his yard.  He will not allow a stranger to walk in the house unless we hold him and tell him it's ok and then bring him to met the person after they are in.  This is something we will work on, but he is already calming down with this a little and he hasn't even been here 24 hours.
All in all, Chapin seems to be a great dog.  I really don't think he will be here long.
I will send pictures as soon as I can.  I need to locate where I put my camera.  Look back soon for pictures and more updates soon.
