1/23/05 - Sassy is a delight to love and enjoy. She really is a part of our family now so much so I forgot to update her with BAR. We consider ourselves so lucky to have found her and I think she is lucky too for she never complains and seems to enjoy Bonnie and her new home. It is hard to believe that we have had her 6 months for we feel she has been with us forever. Many thanks to all the BAR people who made this match possible.

9/17/04 - Sassy has been with us 3 months and it is hard to remember what our home was like without her. She truly is a member of our family now and is a wonderful addition. She and Bonnie are inseparable and do everything together.
The only difference is that Sassy is a real swimmer and Bonnie doesn't go near the water. When we take them to a nearby pond, Sassy becomes a fish and although her swimming frightened us a first, now we know she has the stamina to swim halfway across the pond and back. Bonnie watches her from the edge. We are grateful to BAR and all the people who rescued this wonderful dog---she has found her real home and we love her!

8/11/04 - Sassy continues to do so well with us that it is hard to believe it has only been 2 months since we got her. We left her with a friend for 2 and 1/2 weeks while we were on vacation and I worried about her re-adjustment back to us when we returned. However that went very smoothly and she was excited to be back in her own home. She and Bonnie have become "pals" and go back and forth eating out of each other's dishes. There was a slight problem about a week ago when she found a place where she could get out from under the fence and was missing for about 15 minutes. Thank God, a neighbor about 1/2 miles from us spotted the BAR tag and called Tina who called us and in a short time, she was back with us. We have fortified the fence and she is content to stay in her back yard now. There was a slight problem with her house training in the beginning but she has learned the rules of the house and is settled into a routine now and that is no longer an issue. I think she is so grateful to be in a permanent home with people who love her----and she is dearly loved!!!!!!

7/12/04 - Sassy continues to do well with us and has adjusted to our home and to Bonnie, our other boxer----they are inseparable now and are together all the time. We were at a pond yesterday near West Point and discovered that Sassy is quite a swimmer----Bonnie doesn't go near the water but Sassy spent most of the time swimming in and out of the pond---in fact she reminded us more of a lab than a boxer----she has had some accidents in the house and although she does well when she is in the crate overnight, the accidents happen when she is with us during the day loose in the house. I put her out regularly during the day but for some reason, she doesn't know how to tell us she has to go out----if anyone can give me some tips on how to help her with this, I would appreciate it----it has happened about 4 - 5 times since we have had her so it is not on a daily basis but enough so I have trouble trusting her. Other than that she is a perfect dog and everyone she meets loves her and she in turn loves everyone she meets including the 4 legged variety. We are leaving her for 2 weeks beginning on Friday with a friend so I hope she does well---Bonnie will be with her so she should not consider this a major change in her life----will follow up with another update in a month.

6/19/04 - Sassy has been with us for one week now and she is doing extremely well. She has adjusted nicely to Bonnie, our other boxer, and the two of them play constantly. She is a well trained
dog and responds to all basic commands. She walks well on a leash and although had two accidents the first couple of days, has now settled into a routine of going out when she needs to and all I can say is we couldn't be happier with our new family member. We couldn't ask for a better dog----she has been RESCUED! We love her!

6/14/04 - Sassy has had a wonderful weekend with us---we are so pleased with her and she and Bonnie behave like they were raised together---I can't thank you all enough for working with rescue operations. Sassy is a perfect example of what "rescue" is all about! She could be your poster dog! We love her! Pat

6/12/04 - Our first night without Sassy was very quite we really got used to her being here. Maddie our resident boxer has been moping about. As I was writing I just got a call from Sassy's adoptive family. They love her and she has fit right in. Sassy's new Mom said she has exceeded their expectations. I am so happy that things are going well and we are looking forward to picking up Delilah tomorrow. Carrie

6/11/04 - Sassy left with her new family on June 11th at 11:30 AM. She is going to have a great home. I was very sad to see her go but I know she will be happy. I cried I hope that is a very normal reaction and I'm not the only cry baby out there. Now we are looking ahead to our next foster. Carrie(Sassy's foster mom)

6/8/04 - Sassy is pending adoption.

6/6/04 - Hi I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on Sassy. She is doing great still I really just wanted to share that Sassy just had her first bath and she was great. I was a little worried because I am not sure how many baths she has had before if any. I put Sassy in the tub and she stood there. We have a pull down shower so I just got her wet lathered her up rinsed her off and she was awesome. When she got out I dried her with the towel and then thought to myself let's try the blow dryer (we have done that with our dog since birth so she is used to it) to my surprise Sassy was great again she is so unbelievable. Sassy is a very vocal dog and that has come out the longer she is here. I hope everyone has enjoyed the new pictures of Sassy it is crazy to think she was that tiny little dog just a month ago.

5/30/04 - So we have learned a lot about Sassy since she has been with us. It will be a month tomorrow. In this time we have changed our minds about a few things. We have noticed a big change in Sassy. She has done very well since she has been here and she was always very friendly and playful and such a good girl. At first we thought that Sassy would be best in a home of her own with out other dogs but this past week she has actually been looking to play with our Maddie. She used to growl a little when the cat or Maddie came near her stuff and now she doesn't care. Maddie and Sassy are now playing keep away with the toys. Something else we have noticed if the kids leave stuff out she will chew it. We re-direct by giving her something she is allowed to chew on and saying no. Another thing we have really noticed is that Sassy loves to be outside and I mean loves it. She rather be outside then anywhere else. Since it has been nice out she spends the whole morning out there she lets herself out and just goes out and sits. I think that Sassy has become really comfortable. She knows that she is going to have enough of all the things that she needs so now she is willing to share. We really believe now that Sassy would be fine in a home with another dog as long as she is the dominant female. Sassy does not like little dogs. Sassy is also pretty vocal now it is not a constant thing but she does bark if someone comes to the door and she is very vocal during play time with growling but you can tell it's play growling and not out of being mean. Everyone that meets Sassy loves her and can't believe how good she is considering no one ever cared for her properly. We are confident that Sassy will find her perfect forever home soon.

5/20/04 - Sassy is great we love having her here. Everyone that meets her loves her instantly. She is a very smart girl and was very easy to train. She is allowed to be out of the crate now if we are gone during the day and has had no accidents and has reeked no havoc. I have noticed a few toys out that don't belong to the dogs (she is going to the toy room and taking them) she has not destroyed any of the toys she just takes them out and plays with them. Since she is so smart and is fully trained my new thing is teaching her to sit before we cross the street she is catching on really quick. Sassy loves to chase wildlife still so we only let her off the run or leash when she is in the fenced in yard. That is important for anyone who adopts Sassy because she will run and she is really fast. I can't say enough good things about Sassy I'm surprised she is still with us because she is such an awesome girl. Sassy is looking for a home will she will be top dog and queen of the palace (so she doesn't have to share to much) won't you consider this sweet girl for you own.

5/11/04 - Hi everyone:) Sassy has been with us for an entire week now and she is doing great. She has gained some weight she is now 47 pounds so we are getting there. All our neighbors are saying she look
better already we think so too. My dad was over the other day babysitting and he went out for a walk and forgot to put Sassy in her crate. Good news she did not go to the bathroom in the house :).
Sassy is a great girl. She does not do anything that she shouldn't do. She does not climb on the furniture, she does not chew anything. She really is doing great. We are happy to have such a great dog for our first foster. Sassy is looking for her forever home though and we know she will find the right one soon.

5/6/04 - Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on Sassy. She is doing very well she has had no accidents in the house as soon as we figured out that she really is crate trained. The first night she was here I tried to put her in her crate and she cried, and of course I felt bad and let her out. Three days later we figures out that she really doesn't mind the crate. In fact around 10 every night she goes in to sleep for the night. I just wanted to share this quick and will write more later. Sassy is going to be a great pet for that special family.

5/4/04 - Sassy is doing really well here. I have to brag a little about how great she is. Sassy loves to walk and she is getting better at it. We have been walking the eldest skin kid to school. She knows after two days how to get to school and how we get home (we go through a couple of backyards). Sassy will follow you to the door and look at you with those big brown eyes begging for you to take her. Little more bragging...... Yesterday when we picked up my son from school I brought Sassy and she was awesome with all the kids coming out of the building. I swear she must have kissed a hundred kids yesterday. Now for the not so good about our little sassy. She is still having accidents in the house. We tell her no firmly and she knows that she did something wrong. Sassy also has a problem sharing. She wants everything to be hers and her big sister Maddie is not too thrilled with that.
To leave on a positive note, because there is so much more positive then negative, we had to leave the house for a little while yesterday and we put Sassy in her crate and she was fine with it. Take a good look at this sweet girl she wants nothing but your love.

5/3/04 - Hi everyone! Sassy is doing really well here. We had a little issue at the food bowl this morning she wanted to eat from the same bowl as our resident boxer Maddie. Maddie, however ,didn't want to share her food. I am under the assumption that Sassy just wants to eat whatever food she can get her hands on because she is so so skinny. You can't tell from the pictures but take my word for it. Everyone that has met her is in shock when they see her.
About meetings, she loves everyone. She is really great with the skin kids around here, but she tends to seek adult attention.
Let's see, there is so much to say about this cutie. She has meet the neighborhood dogs which include a wide variety. We have a golden retriever across the street as well as a lab mix. She has also meet a miniature pincher and a Pomeranian. The little ones are a bit noisy for her. She is very good with our dog, but she wants to be first at everything, first one out the door, first to get a treat etc.
Sassy is very smart and very sweet we will work on her house training. She has had a couple of accidents, both close to the door. Sassy will make a great addition to someone's family. The right family for Sassy is out there - one who will give her everything she deserves. She is a little luv bug.

5/1/02 - Please welcome Sassy. She is a beautiful girl and despite her name is not sassy at all. She is very loveable and full of all those boxer wiggles and kisses we all love even though you can tell she has been through a lot in her 2 years. She has been a perfect guest in our home so far. She lets you know when she needs to go out. She has had only one accident and it looks like she was trying to go out she just didn't make it. I already love having her here but I have the feeling she wont be here long. She is an awesome dog and any family would be lucky to have her.
