3/2/04 - Max III has been turned over to the behaviorist in Queens, NY where they will continue to work with him and try to find an appropriate home for him.

11/14/03 - Max continues his training with our behaviorist in Queens NY. He has been doing very well while there however, Max will need a handler with a lot of experience handling dogs. In the right situation it is felt that Max will do well.
Anyone considering adopting Max will be allowed to go to Queens to meet with the trainer for a free session on working with Max and his issues.
If you are interested in him please fill out an application for him today

9/26/03 - Max has shown some dominant behaviors in his foster home and prior adoptive families home to which it has been decided he needs to see a behaviorist for some evaluation and training. We will post updates as they come in.

9/20/03 - After careful consideration, it was decided that Max should go see a trainer for a little refresher course. Keep your eye out for new updates coming soon. Don't hesitate to get your applications in on this love bug, because when he gets done with his schooling, he will be waiting for you.

9/10/03 - Hi everyone, it's Max again. I'm still here just hanging out waiting for my forever home to come along. It's pretty cool here, but I would love a home to call my own. The human kids here started something called school last week. I like the quiet, but I get real excited when they come home. I love to see them so much that I just start wiggling all over and can't stop. The only thing I really don't like about this is that every morning and every afternoon we have to go in our cages so mom can get the kids to and from school. I have been getting a lot better with my cage though. There are times that mom and dad still have to practically drag me to my cage, but most of the time I will give in and walk over and get in all by myself now. After all, it's never really that long that we have to stay in there and my cage is right next to by foster siblings' cage so I feel safe. And we can chat with each other all we want.
Foster mom said she was very proud of me the other day. I'm pretty good about not making too much of a fuss over people walking around the neighborhood, but the other day there was a guy next door that I have never seen before. So, I varked at him to let mom know that there was a stranger out there. When she came out, the man introduced himself and said he loves Boxers and used to have one. He is a new roommate next door so he will be there a lot. After mom was out there and talking to him, I realized that he must be ok and I wiggled at him too. But mom said I was a good boy for letting her know that there was a stranger at our neighbor's house. And that was just too close to our house to just let it go.
The only thing my foster parents have really had to scold me about lately is trying to chase those things called cats. I just want to taste them and see if they taste like chicken!! Mom says that I really need a home that has no cats so that I don't get in so much trouble. I think she's probably right. I don't like getting yelled at after all. But those kitty's do give quite a good game of chase. It's exciting.
Anyway, I'm still waiting for that special home to give me a call. If your out there, please don't wait too long. I'm sure there are many other dogs waiting to come in when I go and there is really no reason for me to be here still. I'm young and healthy and just looking for love and attention. Please won't you consider giving me a chance. I won't let you down. Love, Max III

9/1/03 - Hi all, Max III here. This place is pretty cool. I have a foster brother and sister here to play with all day long. There are also three skin kids that I love too. There are cats here also, but all I want to do is chase them. I'm a little too rough for them. Overall, everything is going well here. I'm in great health, and have very few vices. I really am a good boy, at least my foster mom & dad think so. They always hug and kiss me and assure me that my forever home will be calling for me soon enough. I hope they do, because I really don't want to get too attached here for when my forever family comes. All I want is a family of my own to love. I do want a fenced yard and a brother or sister to play with all day. It will take me a day or two to get used to a new doggie, but I do calm down fairly quick. Foster mom & dad have lots of helpful hints to give to my family when they come. I have really learned how to behave most of the time. I am still a bit of a pup after all. But all in all, I am good. Please won't you consider giving me a chance. I won't let you down. We'll be waiting for your call. Love, Max III

8/24/03 - Not too much new to report here. Max is just kind of hanging out waiting for his forever home to call. While waiting around, he plays all day and sleeps comfortably on our bed all night. Max is a later sleeper. My husband gets up to go to works around 6am. Max agrees with me that it is way too early to be rising at that hour. So, he just stays in bed until I get up a little later. Even if he is asked if he wants to get up to go potty, he simply looks and refuses. Quite the character this guy. And i have to say, he has got to be one of the most affectionate and expressive dogs I have ever known. If you are sitting on the floor, he will just walk over and put his head on your shoulder to give you a nice big Boxer hug. He'll also start giving hugs and kisses when he wants things like food, water, or potty time. He definitely gets his point across. But it's so loving. I know there is a family out there that is just waiting to be the recipient of all these Boxer hugs and kisses. Could it be you? If you are interested, please get your applications in so we can hear from you soon. We'll be waiting right here.

8/16/03 - I have got to say, I have no idea why this love of a dog is still here. Come Monday it will be a whole month since he arrived here. He has progressed so far in this past month. He really is a great dog. His only stipulation is that he has to be a homebody. He is not good with meeting other dogs while out on the leash. But he does love living with our dogs. It took a couple of days for us to be able to allow them together and run and play, but that is very common with a dog who probably has not been raised around other dogs. Now, these three are together and playing all day every day with no complications at all. Once in a while, my dominant female will give Max a little push, and Max has learned to back away instead of confront back. that is a major step. With a little obedience training Max will be the love of your life. I can tell you one thing, once this boy settles into your home, you will never let him go. He is wonderful. Please won't you consider giving Max his new leash on life?

8/12/03  - Not too much has happened with Max lately. He continues to do very well and is such a playful pup. HE loves to play ALL the time. I swear sometimes my house sounds like a dog fighting pit or something with the noise that these three create. They bark, whine, and play growl at each other so loudly that you would think they are beating each other up. They are so obnoxiously loud that we have resorted to only letting one dog out at a time in the morning until after about 9:30 am. We do have a couple of neighbors that would love to get us busted for breaking the noise ordinance. It's hard because with summer time, we have all our windows open (no A/C), so even in the house they get a little too loud sometimes. As long as it's not bothering me though, I let them have their fun inside and only limit the noise when they're out. I know that sounds kind of backwards, but hey, it works.

It was a big weekend around here. We decided that we really needed some new carpeting. We bought this house about a year and a half ago and it needed new carpeting then. But, we held off and did other projects first. Of course it kept getting pushed off until we just couldn't stand it any more. So, over the weekend we put new carpet in two out of three rooms that needed it. Well, the dogs are in heaven. They are loving rolling all over it getting their scent on it instead of that new carpet smell. Max's favorite part though was the installation time. After doing the first room on Saturday, we had a 6'x4' section of padding left over. Well, Max immediately thought that was his new bed. He was on it almost before we could put it down. So, my husband decided that he would spread it enough for Max to use it for sleeping on that night. I tell you, these dogs would have been just as happy if all we did was leave padding down instead of putting carpet over it. The only thing he didn't like about this whole deal was when we started doing the living room. We had to move all of the furniture out, and he looked truly scared. It was like he thought we were moving and leaving him. Once he saw what we were doing though he settled right back down.
Max went to the vet the other day. I noticed that he had a lump on his right hind leg. So, off to the vet he went to get it checked out. The vet said it is just a pressure sore that has been aggravated. He said it looks like an old crate sore that while playing outside or just rubbing it the wrong way, aggravated it again. So he said to try to keep it cleaned out at least once a day, and he should be good as new in no time. The vet said it is really nothing to be concerned about at all.

As for Max's personality these days, he's great. He still doesn't like to go in his crate when we go out, but once he's in, he's fine. The only time we put him in the crate is when we go out. He has free run of the house with our two dogs all day and all night. He likes that deal. I do have to say, Max has learned not to be such a bedhog. Now, more times than not, if he's on the bed he's at the end of the bed. He has also learned that it is ok to sleep somewhere other than our bed. He's started to follow our dogs with sleeping where it's a little cooler than the bed. Max also is a big love bug. If I'm sitting on the floor, he will come over to me, put his head on my shoulder, and he will then lean slightly to give me a big Boxer style hug. That is just the sweetest thing. And of course with that, I will give him a hug right back. He likes that. He does like a lot of attention. And if we are giving loves to our dogs, he will get right in there for his share too. He's a funny boy. Max is now just waiting for that special home just for him. He has come a long way with his personality and I know, he is more than ready to go on to his forever home. As much as I enjoy having him around, I would only like to see him go so he can leave an open space for another foster to come in, he has been great to have around, but he is ready to move to his forever place in life. If you think that place is with you, please don't hesitate to get your applications in. I know you won't regret taking this special boy in. We'll be waiting for your call.

8/8/03 - Max is doing great. He is such a snuggly dog. The other night, my husband and I were sitting on the couch watching TV. Well, first our female came up and laid next to my husband, then our male came up and laid next to me, then of course, Max wanted to be part of the fun too. Well, needless to say, our couch isn't that big, so Max just very slowly worked his way up until he was laying on top of our two dogs. If we had not been pinned down by dogs, I would have loved to get a picture. Maybe next time.
At this point, Max is just hanging out waiting for his forever home. He continues to do well with learning how to be gentle. I think he is doing remarkably. All he wants is a fenced in yard, with a submissive dog, and a family that will love him for the rest of his life. Could that family be yours??

8/3/03 - Hi all, Max here. I figured I'd write my update today. Foster mom says she's having a hard time thinking what to say. So, here it goes. This place is a blast. I have these two dogs just about my age to run and play with all day long. And we do play most of the day. But I think these two poop out too quick. Sometimes when they are trying to sleep I will come up, stand over them, and just start gently mouthing on them until they wake up and play. My foster mom and dad always tell me I should let them sleep, but what fun would that be. I like them to play. I haven't had other dogs to play with so I'm making up for lost time.
Foster mom says I have one of the best kidney bean/crab walk dances she has ever seen. I still can't do it quite like my foster sister, but I try real hard. I get very excited when the family comes home from someplace. When the family goes out they put me in this thing called a crate. I don't really like to go in it, but once I'm in there I'm fine. I get this thing called a kong and it's stuffed with food, peanut butter, and treats. That thing is neat. If the family is going out for more than a couple of minutes, we all go in our cages and get our kongs.
At night time, I stay out with the other dogs. I think that is a great thing. Foster mom calls me a name that I am not sure what it means, "BED HOG"?? I don't know but I like to get on their bed and lay right up on the pillows with them. I like the love and attention they give me and I want to be as close as possible to receive as much as I can. I do however know what the word "OFF" means and most of the time I will listen and get off of the bed. But sometimes I'm just too tired from playing all day and I just let Foster mom move me to the end of the bed where me and the other dogs will snuggle up together sometimes to fall asleep. That's nice and cozy.
Sometimes I still get a little too rough when I'm playing with the other dogs here. But if I get too rough, foster mom just uses a stern voice and we all stop and then go back to playing nicer. Sometimes I forget that I am as strong as I am. I am very good at listening.
Foster mom says I am really very well behaved on a leash. I just don't like to meet other animals while on a leash. It takes me a little bit to get use to a new animal, so when we are out on a leash we just avoid other dogs. If I get to excited on my leash, I am told to sit and stay and I do. It calms me down a lot. My foster parents have been using this thing called a no pull harness on me and they say it works good. It's not that I pull when I'm walking, but like I said I get kind of excited when I see animals. So, with this special harness I can't jump up in the air. I keep all my feet firmly planted on the ground. And this thing doesn't hurt me or anything.
As for my health, I am doing great. foster mom says I eat like a horse. But she also says it looks like I have lost some extra weight I had. When I came here she said I was a little thick, but not fat. I have lost a little weight, but gained some muscle tone from playing all the time.
Overall, I'm doing great. I'm just hanging out waiting for that special forever home just for me. I really do want another dog to play with, and do require a fenced in yard. I will still need some training, but I am doing great. Please will you give me that chance I deserve?

7/29/03 - Max has now been here with us for a week and a half. He is a very lovable dog, and still takes up most of the bed at night. He is usually a gentleman and waits for an invitation onto the furniture for snuggle time, but will occasionally slip in his excitement.
Max has a beautiful kidney bean dance/crab walk. I was sitting on the couch today and Max decided he needed to go out for a potty break. Well, he came to me and stood in front of me and started to wiggle dance. He bent in half, turned around, moved side to side while bent in half and wagged his little nub. It was the cutest dance I've ever seen. And all that just because he needed to go out. He also will put on that display when we come home after being out for a while.
After further observation, I would suggest that Max not live with a cat. He does show great interest in wanting to chase if they run. If they don't move, neither will he, but if they go he goes. And Max is such a strong boy that he could hurt a little kitty if he got a hold of it, regardless of whether he was just trying to play or not.
We are still working on getting Max to play a little easier with the other dogs. He is not being mean, just a little rough at times. I would think that with his strength, he would do best in a home with a large dog like himself.
Max has shown that he can be trusted while walking through someplace with other dogs, but he does take time to adjust to other dogs, so on leash interaction is not for him. He likes to take his meetings a little slower. Like I have said before, it took him a couple of days to get used to our dogs, but he is now with them 24 hours a day. We do not keep them separated unless we go out and then they all go in their cages.
So, if you are interested in a sweetheart of a dog that just needs the love and patience that he deserves, please get your application in. We'll be waiting for you call.

7/24/03 - OMG Max is a bed hog!!!!! Max has been such a good boy with our dogs that we decided it was time to let him stay out of his crate last night. He was so funny. I swear we thoroughly confused this dog. He kept looking at us and then looking at his cage as if to say, "ok I'm ready for bed now, aren't you going to lock me up?" It was funny. Then when Mark and I got into bed, our two settled on the floor (they don't like to snuggle in this summer heat), and Max came to the side of the bed and put his front feet up. That's it, just his front feet. He was waiting for permission to get up. Well, I've got to tell you, as soon as he heard, "ok Max you can come up", woosh, right up there. And then he sprawled out between us and fell fast asleep. I was able to sort of move him to the end of the bed once he was asleep, but boy was he heavy at that point. I swear, 70 lbs can feel like a ton very easily. After I moved him to the end of the bed there was no budging him. He was set for the night.
Max has been such a good boy. He is so loving, and just wants love and attention right back. He gives soft wet kisses, not big gloppy ones, and he gives the best hugs. This boy will come up to you and he will lean his chest onto you to give you a hug. And all he wants is to get a hug in return. Max is fully housebroken and trustworthy. He has not even once touched any of the kids toys or anything. Even when the garbage is out I haven't even seen him sticking his nose in the can. He is just such a nice boy. He will make a great addition to just about any family. Won't you consider giving this boy the chance he deserves?

7/21/03 - Max is beginning to adjust well. He has discovered that playtime with our dogs is a fun experience and he can relax and enjoy it. Max is a dominant dog, but for the most part just wants to play. He is extremely vocal in his play and at first we couldn't tell if he was trying to play or not. After studying his body language, we were able to tell that he was just vocal and happy. Max is a very strong boy, but he is a lovable mush at the same time. We are working on calming Max's play down and he is responding very well. Over all, I have got to say he is doing really well. All he needs now is that special forever home that will give him the life he deserves. Get your applications in quick, I don't think this handsome young man will be here very long.

7/19/03 - Max arrived here at the M & M Boxer Bunker late yesterday afternoon. He had a long trip down from New York where he had spent the night after leaving his training facility in CT the night before. Max was happy to be out of a car but did not seem tired at all. He did drink and go potty outside before we settled him into his crate. Max does well in his crate but is fully housebroken as well.
Max has met one of the resident cats and was fine until the cat started to run. And then it was bye-bye Max. He tried to give chase but he was stopped by stern voice commands and then I picked up the leash and put him in a sit & stay. I think we will be using those commands a lot.
Max is a young, energetic, healthy, STRONG boy. He loves people to no end. My two older children are away on vacation but Max has met our two year old daughter. And he LOVES her. She woke up from her nap yesterday and came out and Max was all wiggles and kisses. Max adores kids and is very gentle with them.
As for other dogs. We are taking introductions very slow with Max. He wants to play with the other dogs, but he is a bit overbearing when it comes to playtime. We will continue to work on this and see how he does.
Max would love to have a forever home to call his own. He does need someone who has a firm but patient touch. Could that be you? More updates will follow soon as we watch this boy progress. So, get your applications in if you are interested, we'll be waiting for your call.

7/16/03 - Max has completed his 1 week training at The Dog House in Colchester, CT.  John Gagnon, the owner and trainer reports, "We had no problems with Max other than that he is very energetic.  He played with, on average, 30 dogs per days without incident, and is very social with people.  He could use some basic obedience training, but no more than any young dog."  So  Max is all ready to go to his forever home.  Wouldn't you like to give this young man a home?

7/6/03  -Max has returned to BAR for a little bit of obedience training. He is a strong boy and was a bit much for his mom to handle.
I have been working with Max for a little over a week now and he is doing extremely well. He is learning the leave it command quite well. Max is very friendly with people...a little exhuberant, but very friendly. He likes to jump on them and give them all kinds of kisses. I am teaching him the off command but those of you who know Boxers realize this is not an easy task.
I have been working obedience with him and he is very good at this. When alone he will heal right by your side, sit, stay and down. If there are other animals around, Max wants very badly to get to them to play. This is where the leave it command comes in. At first when I would tell him leave it he would not listen and continued pulling. At this point however, I can give him a sharp correction, say leave it and he will continue on. Max will need further training and a strong arm to hold on to him. He is a terrific dog and loves everybody so Please consider giving him a chance. I take my female boxer to play with him at my parents farm where there is an extremely large closed in area for them and they run and play for about an hour. He is so funny to watch as you can just see how happy he is.
Max will be going to our professional trainer for one week on Tuesday and then will be ready for adoption.

5/26/03 - I can't believe it has been three months since Max came to be part of our family. It seems he has been here forever! His personality just comes out more and more all the time. We had a little incident a few weeks ago, I was cooking dinner and the fire alarm went off. It really scared poor Max, and he was afraid to be in the house for a few days! Poor guy kept looking up at the ceiling to see if it was going fall on him or something... he finally got past the fear, but if you are cooking at the stove he still gives you the eye a little bit. He is such a loving dog, he wants to be near one of us all the time. He loves to give you the sweetest kisses, has learned to not be at all mouthy, and whenever you sit on the floor for any reason he just cuddles right up to you. He has learned the house rules very well, and does not come up on couch or bed unless invited, is learning not to "bounce" on everyone all of the time. Some of the time, of course, but not all of the time. You can never take the bounce out of the boxer! And of course, he continues to be nothing but incredible with our little girl. At 20 months she knows the hand signal for "sit" and will stand in front of him and tell him to SIT! He tolerates everything she does, and we are working with her on how to pet the dog nicely. She is at a hitting and biting stage (NOT acceptable) and likes to sit next to Max and pretend his head is a drum. Poor guy, he just sits there and takes it while we work to get her to pet instead of hit. Max still "talks" all the time, especially if he feels he is not getting enough attention. Visitors get a little freaked out, because it sort of sounds like vicious growling. We know better, and just laugh at the big goon. But I can see how it might be frightening if you don't know that the dog is just asking you to give him some love. We are so glad that Max came to live with us, he is a wonderful boy. We think we're ready for our second boxer soon...

4/28/03-We want to let everyone know how well our Maxie is doing. He continues to improve in his obedience, and we are currently trying to decide whether to have the private trainer come back for another session or start to try and go back to group. Max is enjoying our spring weather, although he has begun to show a rather nasty cough when he gets "boxerrific" in the yard (our term for bouncy-racing). The vet has advised we have chest x-rays to see if there are any obvious heart or lung problems. We certainly hope not, but will do whatever is needed for our boy. Our baby girl is so in love with this dog, she follows him everywhere (and he her) and crawls all over him. I mean ALL over. This dog has a split personality - with everyone else, he is bouncy and jumpy, and even as loving as he is, can be a somewhat pushy pain in the you-know-what. Not with our Aeryn, though. She can do anything she wants to him and he doesn't mind. He has the patience of Job when it comes to the baby. He's a real love with us too, full of kisses - when's he not trying to *bounce* us, that is! Maxie's up to 70 lbs now, he looks absolutely nothing like his pictures from foster care. I will be sending a snapshot or two for posting to the website if you want them. He is SO handsome!

3/23/03 - Max finally had his vet appointment today. He had all of his shots updated, including the 3-year rabies, since our town's licensing gets renewed in June and he needs a new rabies shot to get his new tag - even tho' we just got him licensed in February. Go figure. He tested negative for heartworm and we had a Lyme's test run, will find out results on Monday. We have a horrible tick problem down here in south Jersey, so as long as he tests negative we'll get him the vaccine, just as a preventive measure along with the frontline. Max weighed in at a whopping 67 lbs today, we are so pleased. He is a far cry from the thin boy who came into foster. I've had to cut him back to 4 cups of food a day, switched him up to Wellness brand food, and may even cut him back from 4 depending on how much more he gains. He was starting to get a little porky, and has lost all rib visibility. Boy, is he an easy keeper! Our private obedience started tonight. Max was very domineering with the trainer when he walked in the door, made a big show of barking and lunging at him. Hence, our first homework assignment is to work Max on being patient in various situations in public and with people coming to our home. Any volunteers for a home visit? :-) The trainer we worked with thought that Max was actually quite a nice boy but probably had not received enough control over his behaviors. He thinks Max will do nicely and seemed to have no reservations about working with him. Max grows on us every single day, he is such a loveable boy. He and our little girl are quite the pair. Seems one of them is always following the other around the house, they absolutely adore each other. He gives her the sweetest kisses, which just sends her into a giggling, squealing frenzy. I'd say he's adjusted extremely well. He's just one big energetic bundle of love.

2/22/03 - Max is settling in wonderfully with his new family. We are still getting used to that young boxer energy, and are making adjustments as necessary (think CHEW TOYS and lots of walks!) to keep him occupied in positive ways. This guy is such a doll, he has been nothing but gentle with our 16 month old daughter Aeryn. She can take anything from him, food, toy, you name it, and he will just sit patiently and wait for her to give it back. He has knocked her down a few times in his exuberance, but she is learning to stay on her balance around him, and we simply say "oops! Aeryn fall down!" and pick her right back up. She loves Max to death and wants all the time to be in the same room with him, play with him and pet him. Max loves Aeryn too, but even more so he wants to get attention from the big humans in the house. He makes the most incredible sounds when he want you to play with him - intimidating if you don't know that he's just "talking." He spent his days in a crate this week with the snowfall. Our 6' stockade fence turned into a 3' fence with a yard full of snow. Max did very well in his crate, he didn't want to go in in the morning and after my lunchtime visit, but her complied and was amply rewarded with treats and toys. Max's first few days here he didn't want to sleep in our room, he preferred his pad in the living room. Then a few nights ago he came into our room to check things out, and decided to stay. We love having him there, except that his snoring does take some getting used to! Max is a wonderful addition to our family, he is the sweetest wiggle-butt I've met yet, and a wonderful dog for a family like us with a toddler in the house.

2/15/03 - Max has been adopted.

2/12/03 -  Max went to the vet today to get a fecal test, and a general exam. Results of the fecal will be rec'd tomorrow. He weight has gone up to 56 lbs, which is a nice 5 lb gain in 8 days. Heck, it usually takes me 2 weeks to gain that kind of weight :o(((. He is really looking great. He is still eating 8 cups split between 2 feedings. He has not slowed up one bit, and would definitely eat more if I let him, but I think that is enough for now. He has this great thing he does now when he eats. I got him to sit while he waits for me to put his food down, but now he not only sits, but insists on giving paw at the same time. Tooooo cute Maxy boy!!

He was absolutely wonderful at the vets, let her do everything she needed to, and even sat still while she cleaned his ears. Wish he could teach that to my guys.

He is getting more wiggly each day, and that boxer personality is really coming thru now. He has even starting playing with some squeaky toys he has found down stairs. Without a doubt, he is one of the sweetest boys I have fostered, and I have fostered quite a few.

So, Max is certainly ready for that very special forever home, and we are gonna miss him, but we could not be happier for him!!! Good luck Max!!!, and hey, don't forget to write :o))))

2/11/03 - Max is pending adoption

2/8/03 - Well, it is long overdue to update you all on Max (the 3rd). I have really been taken by this boys good naturdness. He is really such a sweet guy, just wants to please you so badly. And that is just what he is doing here at the Haven.

He has been sharing the downstairs with his foster sister Belle. Well, Max and Belle have become great buddies. They play hard, long and and happily. Max was neutered on Thursday, and Belle on Wednesday, so we have tried to limit their activity together to short "bursts". So far, we have managed to keep both of them in 1 piece :o))). They really enjoy each others company. In fact, Bella, our little 5 month old baby foster girl has put Max in his place a few times. This sweet boy seems to always back down from trouble. He wants no part of it. He just wants love, that's all. We have thoroughly tested him, and can't find anything that bothers him. When he is eating, you can do anything, and I do mean anything to him, and he is fine. Want to put your hand in his food while he is eating, and he will eat around you. Want to pick up his hind legs and pull him away from the food bowl, and he will wait for you to let go do he can go back. Give him a compressed rawhide bone and reach into his mouth to take it away, and he is fine....just waits for you to give it back. Like I said, nothing bothers him.

Since his neuter, the humping has almost disappeared. Our dogs appreciated that, and Max does not annoy them anymore. He gets along with them, and want to play more then they want to play with him. Since his foster sister Belle went to her forever home today, Max seems a bit sad and lost. He really liked that girl.

His appetite has been great, and we can see him filling out nicely. He did have a case of tape worms from the shelter, and has been treated for that. He will be fecal tested again shortly to see if he is all cleared up.

Just so you don't think he is "perfect", he does has an annoying habit of crying when he is in the crate wand want to come out and be with you. When i say crying....boy....what noises and sounds come from this boy. It is not your typical dog crying...this guy has invented some sounds I have never heard from a dog before :o)))) Once he settles down, he is good for the night.

Max is well housetrained, although he did have his 1st accident in the house yesterday. I had emptied a bag of dog food into one of our containers, and leaned the empty bag against the wall, and was going to take it out shortly. Well, Max walked over to it and picked up his leg and peed on it. I yelled "NO", and he stopped, and he finished his business outside. Don't know what prompted that, but he had been perfect up till then, and since then.

This very sweet boy is recuperating well and should be ready for his forever home next weekend. If you were looking for a young, sweet boxer boy who will love you to death, look no further, he is right here on Long Island. Come and get him, you wont be sorry.

2/3/03 - Max arrived at the Wings and Halo Haven on 2/1/03. I know, you are saying....what....Max, couldn't you think of a better name then that. Well, let me explain. We got a call from one of our favorite shelters that they had a very sweet brindle young male that needed to get into rescue. Well, of course we hurried down on Saturday to get him. We picked him up, and put him in the car to transport him to his foster home. He was in the back seat, just kinda hanging out, and I was talking to him. I said we had to give him a name. So, I started calling out all the common names. Tyson, nothing, Frazier, nothing, Rocky, nothing. MAX.…..well…..he stops looking out the window, looks straight at me, and his tail starts going a mile a minute, and he starts kissing me like crazy. Sooooooo, Max it is!!!

His disposition is quite lovely. He is a sweet young male, maybe 15 months old. He is a brindle boy, with a splash of white on his chest. He has not yet been neutered, and is a bit "humpy" for my guys, as they have to keep straightening him out. All I can say is he is a slow learner :o)) He gives very nice gentle kisses, and has a pretty nice wiggle butt. This is a very nice boy, and so far, I can say he is pretty calm for his age (when the other dogs are not around).

He was a bit skinny when we got him, and at 51 lbs, he could definitely use another 10 lbs or so. At the rate he is eating this weekend, it wont be long before he gains that. He is eating 8 cups a day, split between 2 feedings. In addition to that, we added pasta and mashed potatoes to his meals. He ate every last drop.

He goes into his crate quite nicely, and settles down quickly. He already knows “sit” and “paw”. He gives very nice gentle kisses. He is scheduled to be neutered on Thursday, and then maybe another week or so of fostering. I don’t think he will be around much after that, so get those apps in quickly. If you are looking for a sweet young male, with a very common Boxer name, I have your boy
