3/31/04 - Frankie has turned 1 year this month. He is doing unbelievable. He's gained about 8 lbs. He sleeps in bed with me all night. He doesn't even wake me up to go to the bathroom. Sometimes I'm up first, and he just lags about in bed. He doesn't have as much of a urination problem (like when I first got him). I have a cow bell that I hang around the front doorknob. When Frankie wants to go out he rings the bell 3 times. He learned that very fast, as he learns everything very fast. I recently had my knee operated on, and he knew to be careful with me. He also knew that we needed to walk very slowly. He senses if I don't feel well, and he'll lay with me on the couch. I just love how affectionate he is. In addition to going to playgroup we drive 40 minutes so he can play with his best friends Holly and girlfriend Abby. By the time we get home he is all played out and ready for bed. I can't believe the change in him in just 2 1/2 months. Physically as well. He looks so nice and filled out and just so healthy. Look at the updated pictures to the right and  you'll fall in love with that face just like I have. .

3/22/04 - I just had a nice phone visit with Nancy, who adopted Frankie a couple of months ago.  I had done her HV and we had such a nice talk, I felt like I had known her forever.  She tells me that Frankie is doing wonderfully, he has put on about 7 lbs and is doing great with his potty – no accidents whatsoever, rings the bell to go out and sleeps through the night as much as 12 hours without having to go.  Her vet has done some investigative medicine with Frankie and thinks perhaps his bladder just did not grow with his body as much as it needed to, but he is doing awesome now.  Frankie goes everywhere with Nancy, even to her doctor’s appointments.  She said the first month was a big adjustment for both of them, but she has a trainer and she said that Frankie is just the most wonderful dog imaginable.   She told me, “We both had a lot of give and take, probably more give on my part than anything…”  It sounds like a good trainer, boxer experience, and dedication made for a successful pairing for these two.  She takes him to playtime at the local Humane Society, where her trainer volunteers, and he plays marvelously with about 7 or 8 dogs at a time, she also dog-sits her son’s dogs, a 13 yo Newfie and a 12 yo Husky, and Frankie is wonderful with both.  Frankie has traveled overnights with her to her Nephew’s home and is a big hit with everyone.  As I was talking to Nancy, Frankie was laying in front of her fireplace chewing on a toy.  She said he hasn’t even eaten any of her plants or one thing that belongs to her, which for a young guy like Frank is really a wonderful thing!
These two were clearly meant to be together, and it sounds like they are both as happy as can be.  I just wanted to share this with you guys, it is always great to hear when a new owner works through things the right way for their dog and we have a happy match as a result.
I only hope for the same for all of our rescues.  Mary

1/11/04 - Frank left for his home and boy will he be one spoiled dog!! They just adored him...they know of all his problems and his diabetes and is fine with it.  I am so very happy for Frank and his new life!!!!

1/10/04 - Frankie is pending adoption.

1/1/04 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Frank continues to do well in our home and is a VERY welcome guest. He has settled in nicely and is very well behaved. He does love company and it takes him just a short bit to settle after they are in, but then he is fine.
Frank does have accidents sometimes at night in his crate but is doing extremely well during the day and has not had an accident in over a week.
I put a doggie door in the day before xmas for a gift to all my dogs and Frank was the first to learn to use it and goes out whenever he needs to.
A super dog and smart on top of it...get those apps in for this boy quickly!!

12/27/03 - Frankie continues to do well in our home. There have been no accidents in the house in 3 days now....not sure if it's luck or the meds yet as he has had a couple in his crate over night. He gets along terrific with any dog in the home, loves to play and has developed a great bond with Zoey!! Anyone interested in adopting 2 very special babies!!

12/9/03 - Franklin Dean here...well I have been here for about 2 weeks at this point and am lovin every bit of it. I have all kinds of dogs to play with...I think Skittles (a little shih tzu) is my favorite to play with. I know she is much smaller then I am so I am careful to not hurt her. We even go outside and play in the yard together. There have only been a couple of pee accidents in the house as foster mom let's me out quite often. She says my meds should be here this week so I can start them and get ready to go home...I hope it can be before Christmas as that would make someone very very happy. Foster mommy says I am one of the cutest boxer boys she has had in a long time...I tend to agree with her...I do think I am "THE" cutest one she probably ever had though. I am a good boy...just typical boxer puppy stuff. Remember I am only about 10-11 months old so I still need to be taught right from wrong and Foster mom says I am doing a great job. I sit for all my treats, come when called, play nice with the other dogs, am learning to settle down when she says "settle" and go into my crate when she says "Frankie crate"....not bad huh. Well better get your email in on me quick so you are ready for me when I am ready to go or you will loose out...see ya soon...Frank

11/28/03 - Well I have to report that I have been able to spend quite a bit of time with Frank over the last few days and he is nothing short of a terrific dog!!! There have been no accidents in the home for a week now and he gets along great with all of my dogs, big, little, male and female alike. He is also ok with the cats...likes to look and if they run he does, but not to hurt. He is your typical boxer pup, full of life and energy and loves to play. He will run, wrestle and tumble with my guys and he loves to play catch with the squeaky toys. Frank certainly will make some family a great dog. We do hope to have his medication in this week to get him started. Please consider this boy for your home, you will not regret it.

11/16/03 - Frank is here and what a cute boy he is!! Just a nice soft reddish fawn with all those wrinkles on his forehead.

He has been outside having a grand time with my girls running and playing.
He is now resting here in the house with the rest of the dogs...no issues.
I put some water out for him and he drank a bit but, nothing excessive.
More updates to come later

11/14/03 - Frank will be moving to a new foster home this weekend to start him on some meds to check further for Diabetes. Once he is settled and new update on him will be sent in.

10/2/03 - Frank went for his vet check up today at the Bolton Vet. They took a urine sample and felt that he may have a kidney disease rather then diabetes. The vet stated that they would have to perform a few procedures at the vet clinic in order to rule out one or the other. They need to do an ultrasound and also put a cathider into his bladder to get some urine from inside or it for tests. He would be put to sleep for this and have to be there all day long. I was told that the cost will be around $300.00 and we will need some guidance if this procedure will be done or what we will be doing with Frank.
I have noticed that when Frank is inside the house he will drink water to excess until I tell him that he has had enough BUT when he is outside and has a water bowl full of fresh water he only drinks after running around a LOT while playing with Samantha. The vet stated that this may be from something from when he was young, maybe the water inside the house was taken away and he was deprived of it so that he would not pee. I am not sure what happened when he was young. I have not noticed him peeing in excess as was stated by his owners and I have not seen him having any loose stool as was told to me. I had taken a stool sample BUT I forgot it here on my picnic table when I went to the vets. I hope that my neighbors didn't open it thinking it was a desert??!!

10/1/03 - After Frankie was adopted it was discovered that he had some medical issues that needed to be straightened out before he was really ready to be adopted, so he is back in the care of BAR, undergoing testing, etc.  Look for updates soon.

9/13/03 - Frankie's new family just couldn't wait to get him so they drove to CT this evening to pick him up.  They are in love!

9/13/03 - Frankie is pending adoption.

9/9/03 - Frankie has been here for 2 days now and he is just the sweetest little boy!  He is full of energy and loves to play.  Our entire backyard is filled with toys he has pulled out and he is having a ball with them.
He has not had any accidents in his crate and he is in there from 11 PM to 7 AM.  During the days he is free to play and run in a limited area of the house and a fenced in yard for 4 or 5 hours, then goes in the crate for a nap for 2 hrs. or so while I go out and do errands.  He would like nothing better than to be free with our other dogs all the time and he would be fine with them, but they are a little jealous and get very excited at this new puppy so we are doing intros one at a time for short periods of time.  He just wants to play, play, play!  He does needs some obedience training as do all puppies.  He has obviously been allowed to play bite at human's hands and doesn't bite down at all, but he is getting a little too big to be doing this and we are trying to break him of this habit.
Frankie has been eating very well.  I can't believe how quickly he can polish off a bowl of food!  I feed him 3 meals a day of hamburger, rice, large breed dry puppy food and a little of the dry vegetable food.  This morning I gave him a marrow bone to keep him busy and boy it he have a good time chewing on it.
So if you are looking for a classic Boxer puppy this guy might be for you.

9/7/03 - Frankie has come to spend a little time with us while waiting for his forever family, which I can assure you, won't be long at all.  He is just the most delightful puppy!  He was a big hit at PetRock today and so many families are interested in him that it will be a race to the computers to put in an application.  He is a playful, happy go lucky feisty puppy.  He slept so peacefully all the way home from MA today and looked so angelic.  He ate dinner and we took a nice walk.  Then we played in the yard and he did his business and is now sleeping quietly in his crate.

9/6/03 - Ladies and Gentlemen, presenting this adorable, playful young man by the name of Frank.  Being the cute and happy boy he is, we do tend to call him Frankie and he gets all happy and wiggly whenever you call him.  He is a beautiful red fawn boy with black mask and natural ears that are so very soft to touch.  He is neutered and up to date on his shots, but still needs a little fine tuning on his house breaking.  He is dry in his crate and I must say, very well behaved for the youngster he is.
Frankie played well with my Boston Terrier Molly, my female boxer Robi and my dominant male Pace.  All he wants to do is play, play, play, and who can blame him at his age.
This boy won't be in rescue long, he is just a great boy.
