1/4/04 - JJ has been adopted.

12/11/03 - JJ is pending adoption on Jan 3rd.

12/8/03 - Endless Mountains Boxer Training Camp is pleased to welcome JJ for what I'm sure will be a very short stay. Already, Thing One and Thing Two have given this sweet boy four paws up. JJ was surrendered to BAR approximately a year ago and he was placed with a wonderful family. Due to unexpected health issues in this family, he has been returned to rescue. JJ is a very sensitive young man who's had a rough start in life as surprising as this seems. He's extremely good looking and easy to get along with. He rode beautifully in the car on the way home, loves playing out in the fresh snowfall, and found the toy box right off the bat. He does prefer women over men initially, but does warm up eventually. He hasn't learned how to use the dog door yet, but I suspect it's just a matter of time. He has gone to the door when he wants to go out. His family indicates that he has a sensitive stomach and is on a prescription dog food; eating isn't an issue as he eats this without any problems. If you'd like this handsome guy with your family in time for the holidays, get those applications in quickly!

10/10/03 - I just wanted to touch base with Boxer Angels. It has been quite sometime since we last wrote. The reason I am writing is for two reasons. First to let you all know how JJ is doing and second to let future and current adoptive parents of these wonderful dogs know what a terrible mistake we almost made. JJ has been quite the dog. We adopted him February 7th. It is now 9 months and I have to say, I thought we would never call him OUR FAMILY DOG! JJ had a very bad peeing problem. To the point of calling rescue and DEMANDING they take him back. After lots of conversations, not all pleasant, but all very useful we still decided to return him. At the last minute (JJ's bag was packed, good-byes were made, tears were shed and the meeting point was arranged) we decided to keep him. The big decision came from my husband. He NEVER had a dog with problems. JJ had quite a few. The biggest issue was the constant peeing. Some how JJ new what was going on and he melted our hearts. I am glad to say this was 4 months ago. JJ is now a totally different dog. He is a real dog and our family dog. With no drugs or serious dicipline, but patients and just love. The crate helped A LOT! He still needs to be in it when we are not home, but he has graduated to sleeping in my daughters room at night. I thought this would NEVER be possible since he would pee in it months ago! JJ pals around with my husband outside while he works. JJ doesn't even need his leash anymore. He stays by his side. My family cannot believe that this is the same dog!!! I knew deep inside he had it him him. I just want everyone to know that patients and love go along way with a rescue dog. Don't give up!!! Also, if it wasn't for the telephone calls to me from great BOXER RESCUE PEOPLE DURING OUR CRISIS, I DON'T KNOW IF JJ WOULD HAVE HAD THAT 2ND CHANCE! They gave me lots of food for thought and valuable information. Thanks guys! Sorry, it came so late! Anyway, JJ is doing great. He's 61lbs and skin rash free!! I will send a picture soon. I have a roll to develop.

3/16/03 - Hi JJ here. My Mom has been really busy and tried a few times to let you guys know how I'm doing. It's really hard because she's trying to potty train my human brother and me at the same time. It seems we both always have to go out at the same time which is all the time. I'm really good I only had a few poop accidents. Mommy is trying really hard to stop me from wetting in the house. At first she thought I was being a little spiteful, because I can hold it all night. But she knows now I just sometimes can't help myself. I do it when I get startled( aloud noise or something) I really try to let her know. She says if I just barked, cried or went to the door or something she would know. I thought she could really read my mind. She says she is trying to read my body language. Well anyway, I really like it here.  We go everywhere together. I love the bus stop. I even went to the pet store and met all my new human friends. I wasn't even shy. I came home with lots of toys (my stuffed hamburger is my favorite, besides my human brothers sponge bob toy). My human sister is the best. I sometimes sleep in her room or my moms room (her side of the bed of course). I eat really well here. I don't get ANY human food. My stomach is REALLY sensitive. I throw up a lot. Even when I get a shot from the vet. I'm due for my Lyme booster this week. Mom says she is well prepared for me. My heartworm pill also made me sick. My Mom will tell the vet this when she sees him. Anyway, I play outside a lot. We don't have a fence yet because of all the snow. I live in the Pocono mountains you know. We have the state forest in our back yard it really cool. My Mom runs with me on the leash in the snow. My Dad says she's crazy. Sometimes, I'm too fast for her even in the deep parts. She laughs and says stop and I come over to her. I play with the kids a lot outside. i love my sisters Barbie house. I go inside with her. I also like to knock the kids down in the snow. When I'm not running outside I sometimes get my big boost of energy and run through the house. Up, down in all the rooms. I'm really comfortable here now. I even jump on the beds and couch now. My Mom says no because my little human brother is too small and I hurt him a little. I was sorry, I just was so excited. I really like the kids. I had my first human birthday party last weekend. My brother turned 3. I met so many people. My new aunt, grandma (grandma's dog, E.T. a llasa) my cousins. It was so much fun. E.T. really tried to be a tough guy. I just let him until I had enough and gave him one of my famous Boxer swats! He calmed down and we were friends. Everyone slept over I was so good my mommy said. My Grandma LOVES me sooo much!! She was good for a treat! My cousins cried when they left and said we want a dog like JJ. My aunt was so really nice too. I went to visit all of them again yesterday in NJ. We all had fun. I was a little shy but behaved. They said I can come back anytime. My trainer was here and said I am a good dog but really head shy and cautious. She has this method of training called stuff the dog. I get treats all the time. She is coming again tomorrow night. My Mom says she is going to talk to her because I throw up after every session. She thinks its too much food for me. My Mom gives me treats when I do good things and says good boy JJ. She taught me to sit and stay. I still have to work on come. I don't have a crate yet. My Mom was worried about putting me in one so soon. I used to be afraid of the crate. My trainer says I will get over it soon. My mom blocks me in the kitchen when she goes out. I still have a little accident when she gone. She only leaves me alone when I can't go places (like the kid doctor). Well, So far so good I'm off to the Flea market with Dad and Patrick. Mom and Jillian are off to a kid party. I'm really busy, and have lots to do. I have lots of friends. Oh yeah I forgot to tell you my crazy Mom had a play date for Jillian and Patrick on Friday. There were 8 human kids in my house. I had so much fun. they played with me and when I had enough I just went to sleep in the living room on my bed. Moms friend was jealous. She has a lab/dalmation mix who's nuts!! I can't play with him he's crazy. Well, gotta go, Dads waiting. Off to visit the flea market (hope I don't come home with fleas). Bye!

2/15/03 - Well here is our dog JJ first week report card. He scored an A. It would be an A+ but we had a few poop issues (only 2). JJ's first week went very fast but we did alot. JJ warmed up to us right away. He is still a little head shy and runs if you drop something. We are determined to help him trust again. It took him a couple of days to go upstairs on his own. He really had to be coaxed. Once upstairs he jumps and gives you one of his great big Hugs. He is a little stingy with the kisses. But as I told my daughter when he does do it he means it. He sleeps in his big bed next to my side he is my shadow). He sleeps like a baby(although sometimes I don't know who snores louder JJ or my husband). We took JJ to the vet for a needed shot. He was very good. The doctor said he is an excellent patient. He weighed in at 59.8. JJ really travels well. He sits in the back seat of the van with his blanket and pillow. He surprised us when we ran in to pay for gas for the car. JJ was sitting upfront like he wanted to drive! He had us a little worried the next day after the doctor visit. He was very mushy and was throwing up all day. I called the vet and asked if the shot had any side effects. They said if he has a sensitive stomach maybe, but if it continued to call. Well, I gave him chicken broth and rice all day and he slept in a little ball in the living room. I was really worried. I also think he was a little depressed. I mean what a week. He left his foster mom and all his new friends. Especially Gabby. The kids laid down next to him on the floor and just kept petting him. He didn't even want to go out! I had to coax him then he wanted to come in immediately. Anyway, the next day he was like a new dog. Jumping, playing tug of war and running with me outside. I was so happy. He hasn't thrown up at all and is back on his normal food. Yesterday we left JJ alone for the first time. We closed all the bedroom doors and gated to kids toy area(JJ has a fondness for toys). We didn't want him to get hurt. He was alone for a couple of hours while I picked my daughter up. I am happy to say. NO DAMAGE OR ACCIDENTS. He was so cute. His face was on the windowsill looking for us. He jumped and hugged and went outside. We still hadn't heard him bark yet. We didn't think he had a voice. Well, he finally barked when he heard my husband in the garage coming home last night. I think he is beginning to understand that this is his home now. What a great Valentines Day! Anyway, he begins his obedience training next week. She is coming to the house. I'll let you know how it goes. I really believe he is smart and wants to learn.

2/11/03 - JJ here! Just wanted to update you on my new home. It's going great! I get lots of attention from my new kid friends. Mommy and daddy also keep me busy (mommy is a softee). I have lots of fun stealing the little guys toys. I like them better than my own. He also leaves lotsa crumbs for me, especially cheerios. Mommy took all of us to the vet today. I thought I would show off so I jumped up on the front counter to shmooze the receptionist. It worked she patted my head and said I'm cute. We all went home and had lunch. I've been on my best behavior. I only had 2 accidents in the living room, (I'm still a little nervous, I know they will forgive me). I kissed mommy and she cleaned it up with a smile. She said I am training with my new brother Patrick. Were only a year apart. Well, mommy says she will update everyone again at the end of my first week. I'm going out to play now, Bye!

2/8/03 - HI! I just want to update everyone on JJ's first night in his new forever home. I can't believe how lucky we were to find JJ. We met him at his foster Mom's and it was like he knew we were his. My daughter Jillian lit up and my son Patrick who is a little guy was so excited to see him. Well, JJ's trip home(3hours) was a delight. He was so good. He slept, licked Jillian, slept again. We arrived home and JJ did his business outside and went in the house without a problem. He was really nervous when he was inside and shook for a little while. The kids, daddy and I made him feel easy with lot's of hugs and kisses. Daddy also found a new friend. JJ seems to warmed up to Bob very quickly. JJ is a little shy and did not leave the living room at all to investigate. JJ had no accidents at all! He seems very comfortable to do his business outside. His foster mom did a great job. He ate his food and drank his water in the living room. He was a little shy of the kitchen. Jillian and Patrick have been hugging him constantly and JJ's little tail "keeps a waggin". Daddy slept on the couch downstairs with JJ in his new bed. JJ was too shy to go upstairs to the bedrooms. So Daddy kept a vigil. JJ slept all night and woke up with the kids bright and early. He finally left the living room and went upstairs. He also investigated the kitchen. JJ is a mellow guy, and loves attention. He also has a look in his eye that says I am smart, teach me! We will! We will also update you again on his first week with us. He has a vet visit this week also. We are very lucky to have found JJ and thank Boxer Angels for all there help. P.S. I think JJ also misses his friend Gabby, but Jillian and Patrick will keep him busy.

2/7/03 - JJ's family just left with him for PA.  What a nice family.  They came with their two children, Jillian, 8 and Dillon 3.  He greeted them openly.  Peed out of excitement but that's not unusual.   I put all the other dogs in separate rooms for the initial meeting. It is as if he knew that this was his new family.  He loves the children.  JJ is on his way.  And he is really happy.

2/5/03 - JJ is pending adoption.

1/26/03 - JJ here. I just wanted to put in a short update about yesterday.....the big burly guy came for coffee in the morning. And he is big! He's Foster Mom's neighbor. I Loved Him! This is great! I'm not afraid of anyone. I didn't pee. I wiggled like crazy and he petted me and I just loved it. I think the first night I was just nervous from the car rides to my foster home. I've been really good. No accidents in the house. I'm learning to sit now. I've almost got it. And I'm learning to ring the bell on the door when I have to go out. I'm getting there. Foster Mom says I'm very smart and love to learn. That's it for now. Just wanted to let everyone know how I'm doing. JJ

1/25/03 - Hi everyone. JJ here. I'm back from overnight stay at the vet's office. I am now neutered. I had to stay because I was too groggy to go home the same day...Boy, was I happy to see Foster Mom. I had to go in my room for a while to keep calm, but then Foster Mom had company and she let me come down to the Bar and hang out. I met Pretty Girl, she hissed at first at me, but then she stopped. I don't mind cats. I paid no attention to her. I met a friend of Foster Dad's and I liked him too. Later, the boys and Gabby were allowed to come down, and we were so good. No rough housing at all. A pretty good thing for four boxers. I've been out with them all too, and I must know better, because I don't get too wild. I'm not a wild child anyway for my age. I'm kind of mellow. I'm eating a lot better now, not gobbling like before. My favorite place to hang out is with Foster Mom when she's on the computer on the "doggie couch" I don't go on any other furniture. Pretty smart there too. I know not to, I guess. I'm starting to play with toys and like them. Especially the silly giggly ones. Well, not too much here, just wanted to let everyone know how good I've been. Foster Mom says she's been really lucky, with the past fosters and I'm one of the really good ones. Even Gabby and I play real nice together. She's invited a big burly guy friend of theirs to coffee this morning with his wife. She said he's going to be a guinea pig, because I seemed to pee when I saw big burly guys. We'll see how it works out, but I don't think I'm going to be doing that anymore. I didn't mind Rob yesterday, and he was kinda big too. He petted me and I wiggled all over. I'm pretty near perfect for a young guy. And I'm really handsome too. So, now I'm ready to go to my forever home. Anyone want a nice 18 month old mellow boy, Here I am....JJ

1/22/03 -  Hi. It's JJ again. I am in another Foster Home, not because of my Last Foster Mom. She is great, but she's having a baby real soon and her Doctor told her to take it easy. She's already got two boxer babies of her own, so it was decided I'd go nearby to the Boxer Country Farm and Retreat, so she can have a rest. I'm here now with another Foster, Gabby and two Boxer Boy residents, Hunter and Bugsy. I've already been outside to play in the big fenced in yard with Gabby, and we got along just great. I just loved being free and running all over in the snow. I've not been able to go free with the boys yet, but it doesn't seem to be any problem. Foster Mom is just waiting until later for the big guy to get adjusted once again to another boy in the house. I don't care. I am just sitting in this room that she calls JJ's Room with a daybed and a nice rug and there is also a huge stuffed Boxer on the bed for me to keep me company. The boys come by the gate to see me and nothing is happening. I can't wait until I can go out with them and play. Later, Foster Mom said. I'm a good boy, I went out twice and peed and the first time I didn't want to come in, But Foster Mom has these yummy biscuits that I just love. She coaxed me with it and I came in. The second time, I didn't even hesitate. In I came and got my biscuit. She also was acting silly and kept saying Good Boy, JJ, Good Boy. And she was clapping her hands. I like this, so I'll do it all the time now. Well, it's my first day here, and I'm going to get some rest on my blanket in MY room. I'll write to you tomorrow. JJ

1/21/03 - After an extended break (ok, 1 day!), the Come & Go Boxer Bungalow has welcomed another visitor, JJ. He is a 1 1/2 year old flashy brindle male who was an owner surrender. JJ is absolutely beautiful! He needs to gain some weight (at least 10-15 pounds.) JJ instantly accepted the resident boxers and the fur balls without any issues. He shows a great interest in the kitties but quickly responds when his name is called. This boys tail wags non-stop! He seems to think that Mischief is his new girlfriend so he occasionally requires a squirt from the spray bottle. JJ needs encouragement from Mischief to leave the porch and go potty, as he is accustomed to being walked on a leash. He slept all night in the crate without one single peep. Not even when the other dogs asked to go out at 3:30 a.m. He is a very fast eater so we will be watering his food and soaking it before feeding him to aid in digestion. He doesn't seem to know a lot of commands so obedience would be helpful. JJ will be neutered on Thursday and then he'll be ready to go to his Forever Home. If you're looking for a beautiful flashy fawn boy with a non-stop tail, this one's for you! Be sure to check back for updates from JJ.
