2/1/05 - Jonah has been a wonderful addition to our family. He gets along fine with our other dogs and our cats. He has completed two classes in obedience training. Jonah listens very well on and off the leash.
Jonah has quite a case of acid reflux. We treat it with dry toast before his meals and before bed at night and it's not 100%.......but it helps greatly.
Jonah also has a neck problem......which we've had looked at extensively by our Vet. If he bends his neck himself or in play with one of our other dogs......if they mouth his neck.......he'll cry with much pain.  He's had this problem since we first adopted him. Our Vet feels it was an existing problem which will always bother him. Because of this.....Jonah cannot wear a collar so we keep him in a harness.
If Jonah was a human he would definitely be "THE CLASS CLOWN"!! He's just so funny with his antics. This Boxer Boy does not have a mean bone in his body.
Jonah still has some wee-wee accidents once in a whileeven though he's five years old. But we can deal with it.
He always says he's sorry.  One good thing......Jonah doesn't eat poopsicles like some of our other crew. We know every dog owner says this.....but Jonah is the world's best farting champ....probably because of his stomach problems. He could clear the Superbowl stadium.
He sometimes wakes me out of a dead sleep...but I still love him!We absolutely love our Jonah boy and he loves us right back.
He's one of our herd. He's become one of James's velcro sleeping mates.

3/28/04 - Jonah left with his new daddy and is on his way home now.  He is a happy camper.  He is going to be spoiled rotten and have a better life than any of us.  Thank you Tina for this more than perfect placement.

3/23/04 - Jonah is pending adoption

3/17/04 - Well Jonah has now been with us for a month and a half.  And I just can't figure out why he's still here.  He is pretty darn close to perfect.  He is healthy, active yet calm since he is 4 which is still considered fairly young, loving, good with dogs cats and kids, housebroken, and pretty well mannered.  He has a wonderful personality that is so easy to love.  You'll be hard pressed to find a better dog.  As I've said before, all Jonah needs at this point is another dog around to keep him calm while he's crated.  Other than that, he's a breeze.  At this point, he is undoubtedly the easiest foster we have ever had come through our house.  You will be missing out on everything if you don't give this guy a shot.

3/10/04 - Hi everyone, Jonah here, or as my foster parents like to call me, JoJo.  Not too much new going on around here.  All we do is hang out, play, eat, & sleep.  I am even getting better going in my crate.  It's actually not half bad.  I get treats when I go in there.  That's pretty cool.  Foster dad goes to work every day and foster mom has to go bring the skin kids to and from school.  When she leaves the house we dogs go in our crates.  I have learned that when the humans are getting
ready to go I go over and get in my crate.  That way mom doesn't have to chase me all over the house like she used to.  And then, when she comes home to let me out of the crate, I sometimes bark but I sit before she lets me out.  She says I'm such a good boy.  I think so too.
My foster parents say that I am so good that they don't mind keeping me as a foster for as long as it takes to find the right home.  They keep saying that I really am the easiest dog they have had yet.  I'm just an all around great guy.  I love people and other dogs.  I get along with the kids which are these crazy energetic miniature versions of humans.  (Wow, and I thought I had energy.)  And..... the clincher..... I even like cats!!!!
Anyway, I'm just gonna hang out here with these people until my forever family shows up to get me.  All I need is people to love me and another dog to hang out with.  How hard is that??  Talk to you soon.   Love, Jonah AKA JoJo

3/3/04 - HELLOOOO, where's my family?  Hi everyone, Jonah here.  I'm such a good boy.  My foster parents forget I'm here sometimes.  Right before I came here, foster dad said he needed a break from this fostering stuff.  Having a third dog around was a bit much sometimes he said.  But, just the other night, when he and foster mom were talking, he said that I WAS his break from fostering.  He even
agreed that I am probably one of the easiest dogs they have ever had in their house.  I'm a good boy.  I don't have accidents in the house, I only bark when I'm playing.  I love dogs, kids, and even cats.  I know, I'm weird, but cats aren't so bad.  SHHHH, don't tell the other dog's I said that.  They'll beat me up.  Anyway, I'm just chillin here until that home comes along.  I'm even getting better in my crate.  Please won't you let me come stay with you??  You won't regret it.

2/28/04 - I'm sorry it has been a while. Sometimes I forget Jonahis even here. He is sooooooooooooo good. I can't believe how quickly he has settled in here. Jonah is an all around great dog. He is good with our dogs, the kids, even the cats. He stays free in the house with us day and night, and is crated when we go out. Now, when he first came here I did see that he hated his crate. He hated it with a passion, BUT that has changed. YEAHHHHH!!! All he needs is another dog crated next to him and a treat stuffed Kong. Then, you can leave him for hours. We have been gone so far for up to 6 hours and he was fine. The first time I left him he tried to get out, saliveted all over the crate, and ruffled his blanket all up. Now, when we come home, his crate is dry, he hasn't been scratching at it, and his blanket is the same as when we left. He is so good. We even found a way to stop his gas problem. We switched his food. He is now on Canidae with my dogs. And no he rarely has gas (thank goodness). Anyway, this boy is ready for a home. Will that home be yours??? Please call soon, we'll be waiting.

2/26/04 - Jonah had a major breakthrough tonight. He actually went into the crate all by himself just to take a snooze. This is the same dog that used to flip out when put in a crate. I was so excited when I saw him walk over to the crate, step in and then curl up on the bed to nap. What a good boy he is. Anyone who passes up this special boy is making a big mistake. We'll be right here waiting for that special home.

2/11/04 - Jonah came to M & M Boxer Bunker Monday night. His new mom was very upset that she had to give him back, but unfortunately, she works all day long and Jonah does not like his cage for that long. Since Monday I have been able to cage him for short periods of time, but only if he is caged next to my dogs. Jonah is a great dog. He loves people and is good with the dogs. He doesn't like it if they play too rough with him, but he doesn't get nasty with them either. Jonah would be a great dog for someone who is either home the majority of the time or for someone who only works a couple hours a day. Jonah would also like a home with another calm dog so he doesn't get too lonely. Jonah is ready to go whenever his forever home calls on him. He is already neutered and UTD and can now go at any time. He is still young and energetic, yet calm and polite most of the time. So, if you are interested in an all around nice dog, please ask for Jonah. He's waiting for you.

9/10/03 - Hi all Jonah is doing very good we had a few tight spots but we are ok now. He is growing into his body every day and looking very nice. He still has a few accidents in the house but we are working on that. I am looking around for a trainer so hopefully we will have one soon. Jamie, James and Jonah

8/10/03 - Jonah has been adopted.

8/9/03 - Jonah was neutered on Thursday - and is doing well, he is now all Up-to-date on his vaccinations. He has only gained 3 pounds in the 2 weeks he's been with us, which baffles the vet, because he does eat like a horse. The housetraining is going well, only 2 accidents, but he really does have to be on a regular schedule of meals and potty breaks. He still does not like the crate, he'll go in just fine, but tries to escape the entire time he's in there, so we've limited his exposure to it, it was just causing him undue stress. Jonah is a great dog and will soon be moving on with his forever family, we're sorry to see him go because he truly is wonderful, but congratulations to Jonah and his new family, good luck !!

8/2/03 - Jonah continues to make excellent progress, gaining weight slowly, and you can barely see where his wounds were. He has healed up very nicely. He is just starting to have a little spunk and we played a game of "tag" out in the backyard last night - he was so silly. He is wonderful with the kids. In fact this morning I woke up to find my 3 yr old son and Jonah had snuck into my bed during the night, and the two of them were snuggled up together, so sweet. We took him to the lake Thursday night, and he really didn't care much for the water, but thought the fish in the live well were pretty interesting. His housetraining is going well, but he really does not like the crate - and is somewhat of an escape artist - but we're still working on that with him. He is excellent on leash, no pulling at all. He is a very very sweet, gentle, and loveable boy.

7/28/03 - It has only been a week, but Jonah has gained 3 pounds, and his fur is just starting to grow back in over his wound scars. He is fine with the cats- in fact he is afraid of my mean old kitty that hisses at everybody. He is such a big baby, a real love, follows me from room to room, lays at my feet or in my lap and sleeps on the doggie bed on the floor next to my bed. He is pretty much housetrained, he just needed a little refresher course and a good schedule. He'll go in the crate just fine, but does not like staying in there more then a few minutes, and we're working on that a bit each day. He really does act and look so much better in just a weeks time - some TLC is all this boy needed.

7/20/03 -  Jonah has arrived, a stray/shelter rescue. He is such a sweetheart considering the amount of scaring he has, he must have been thru some trauma. But despite all that, he is very gentle and loveable, no aggressions at all. Jonah is pretty thin right now, but he is eating good and will hopefully start filling back out soon. He is wonderful with my children, likes other dogs, and seems okay with the cats, although his exposure to them has been for now. He is on antibiotic for upper respiratory infection currently, and once that has cleared he will be neutered, scheduled for Aug.2nd. This is one terrific dog, loves baths, car rides, snuggling and giving lots of kisses. He will make a great addition to any family.
