3/20/04 - I'm a little late with this, but Zoey's new family called me on Wednesday and told me that they are so very happy with her....She's not had any accidents in the home, plays wonderfully with their pug...They are so happy....I'm so glad that I went to that vet that day and met Heather, and I had Zoey with me...She quickly put in another application, which she had months ago. And the rest is history.  Zoey needed a special home with her medical problems, and Heather works for a vet, whom she rents her home from...Right on the premises.....So, Zoey has a wonderful home....They can't get over how well trained she is...When I get back from florida, we'll meet at the dog park in Ithaca to let them all run together again.  I'm sure Zoey will remember me....She is such a good girl.....And Skyler really loved her....They became sisters.....

3/9/04 - Zoey has been adopted.
Zoey just left with her new family.  She'll be 30 minutes from me, living with a great couple and their 8 yr. old daughter..  The Mom works for a vet, and lives right next to the vet.  It's great for Zoey, being a special need dog with her liver problem.  She'll get the best of care.  She greeted them with kisses and wiggles.  And left with no problem.  I'll miss this little girl.  She was a big part of my family for two months and a great boxer.  My guys seem a little confused right now...They thought they lost Skyler, and now Zoey is gone...Skyler is like Velcro.  Won't leave my side.  Can't blame her.....Here's a pic of The new Family....

3/6/04 - Zoey is pending adoption

3/2/04 - Hi again, It's Zoey here. I have been so perfect at my foster home. And I really mean perfect. Foster Mom adores me and would keep me, but 4 boxers is a bit much. And let's not forget the 5 cats....Oh well, I've been getting out to the dog park at least 4 or 5 times a week with the gang. We were there on Sunday, when the weather hit 60 and it was beautiful....A lot of dogs, all kinds, big and small were there...At least 40 of them at once. And kids too. I had a ball. I was running all over catching sticks. And when other humans bought toys for their dogs to play with, I wanted them too. My favorite thing is to run and play with toys. I will keep anyone busy for hours if they have the strength to keep throwing a toy. Foster Mom is going to take a couple of toys with us the next time to play with...I love the frisbee. I'd rather play with toys than all the dogs there. Skyler and I especially get along very well, for two females.... There have been no accidents in the house. I have my natural medicine, which by the way is not costly, and it keeps me in good shape. Foster Mom has to take Skyler to the vet on Friday, so I'm going along, just to be weighed...I've put on weight and it really shows. No more hip bones showing. One more thing...Foster Mom had to go downstate on Saturday, and we guys couldn't go along. So we were home alone for 5 hours, and not a thing was wrong when Foster Dad got home from work. Not a thing.....I can be left out and I don't do anything...I don't get into trouble. Four boxers, and five cats out all alone....Now that is saying something. Also, little Mousey, the cat who adores dogs, actually thinks he's one, walks in and out of my legs and cuddles up to me, and I do nothing. The other cats are all coming around me too. I love it here, but really, I do want my own home. I'm great with other dogs, and wonderful with cats too. I probably would be OK by myself, because I do like to play alone....But another dog would be great too. I love to rough house with Hunter. Ok...Bye for now.

2/20/04 - Hi everyone....It's Zoey here. I've got a couple of good things to tell you.....First, I've still not had any peeing in the house since the first week I was here. I can hold it in for quite a long time. I'll let you know when I want to go out. Ok...Foster Mom has been going to the gym every morning, and leaves us guys out in the house...No crates.....She comes home to a nice house as she left it. I can stay out and not pee or do anything wrong. Now, she's been gone for about 3 hours at a time...Other times she goes out for longer and still nothing is wrong. I'm still as friendly and cute as ever.....The weather is breaking some, and we get to go out more. I was out the other day and Foster Mom was tossing a frisbee all over, and boy, did I go crazy. I was running up and down the hill in the back yard, jumping in the 2 ft snow that is still there, and getting the frisbee and returning it so she could toss it again. Ok, here is the best part.....Today, we went to the leash free dog park. Foster Mom let me off the leash! I was so surprised! I jumped around in a circle, and then took off to play with the many dogs there. And when she called me, I came back....I was sooooo happy! Now I can go loose at the park with the other dogs. And she didn't have to put the coat on me, my nice new red coat that will go with me to my forever home.....I was running So someone who really wants that special girl, please give a call. Zoey

2/5/04 - Hi...It's me, Zoey....I was to be adopted, but due to a working situation, I'm not going....So, here I am....I have to give you an update. I have not, and I mean Have not, had one accident in the house for almost 3 weeks...I'll be here for a month on Saturday. No peeing at all. I guess I don't really have that much of a problem...I have gained weight....No more hip bones showing....Or is that the thing for us females.....Ha Ha....I don't go in my crate anymore either....I stay out...All night and day. I sleep with Foster Mom...I know that's a no no, but she's a sucker......I can go loose at the dog park too. I stay and listen....I'm getting too comfortable here....Please someone, I am adorable. Such a good little girl....If you don't get me soon, I'm going to Florida with the rest of the gang in a month. Foster Mom would love to keep me, but 4 is a bit too much.....I am really perfect.........I'll really love you. Oh, last night, I was walking behind the old cat, Pretty Girl...Not to hurt her or get her, just behind her...I had my tail tucked, ears back and it was so funny....Foster Mom tried to get the camera, but it was too late....I am so funny. I make the humans laugh a lot.....I do really funny things.....So, here I am....Waiting and waiting......Zoey

1/24/04 -  Hi everyone, it's me again. It's been a long cold week and snowy here in New York. But we did get to go out two times to the doggie park. I was sooooo cold, so Foster Mom put a coat on me and I was OK. I can't run around with the guys, because I'm still on a leash. Things have gotten so much better with my bathroom habits. I haven't peed ONCE in the house ALL week, or in my CRATE at night. I've been in the crate for 6 hours at a time, maybe more, and not peed once. Even Foster Mom went out and put me in the crate for 4 hours and I was just fine. I go right in the crate. At night, after Last Chance, we get a treat. I know this, so I run right into the crate and wait. I don't even have to be told to go in. And other times, when I'm told to go in my crate, in I go....Foster Mom just loves this...And I am quiet all night, until I have to go out.... I go to Foster Mom or Foster Dad and whine and they will so "do you want to go out" and I go crazy. I can jump 4 ft in the air. My way of letting them know I want to come in is jumping off the ground outside the door on the deck and looking in the back door. Foster Mom got some pictures of me and has renamed me "Airborne Zoey" I am really funny. Right now, I took a toy from Skyler, I was whining and I wanted it. I am flipping the toy now, and it is flying all over the house.....Foster Mom is laughing as I do this. I just Love Toys! And there are Tons of them here.....Two big baskets full. Well, I'm waiting for a special home to go to forever. I love it here, but I'd really like my own home. I am excellent with Dogs, kids, and Cats.....And People? I loveeeee people......

1/18/04 - Hi Everyone...It's Zoey here. Phew! We finally got out today. Foster Mom has cabin fever and so do we. She was limited to one car, and Foster Dad took it for work....This morning, snow and all, Foster Mom took us to the Dog Park. When we got there, the snow stopped and the sun came out and we took a long walk. I had to stay on the long retractable leash, but I did get to play with a lot of dogs....There were a lot there. All kinds...I like them all. I was so good...I walk really good on the leash and listen very well. Everyone said I was so pretty.....I came home and ate a huge dinner....Now, I'm going to sleep. I've been really good with my bathroom habits....I haven't peed once in the crate atnight. I will admit that I do whine to get out, and someone hears me and comes and lets me out. I can't drink too much water after 9 PM. Especially if you want to go to bed early...Foster Mom stays up with me and lets me go out a lot. I know I have some medical problems, but I'm letting Foster Mom know that I have to go out. I'll sit and talk to her.....If she ignores me, I'll get louder...That gets her attention....Out I go, pee and come in. I need that really special person that will have the patience with me. I have learned to tell when I want to go out. I do ring the bell some times, but I like pestering Foster Mom.....Ha Ha.....I know that there is someone out there that will love me to death, as I will love you......Oh, and another thing, Foster Dad says he has never seen a dog do a 180 degree turn to make herself into a circle.....When he comes home from work, or gets up in the morning I wiggle like crazy. I do love guys a lot....I was very wiggly at the dog park today too. And more, Foster Mom had to go shopping and left all of us in the car....Bugs and Hunter in the back behind the gate, and me and Skyler in the SUV itself.....I was very good......Didn't touch a thing. I'll write again. I hope someone wants me..........Zoey

1/14/04 - HI...It's Zoey here. I'm writing to you this time to tell you what a great time I am having......It is so nice here...I have boxer buddies, and kitties....I have tons of toys, and I mean, tons.......I can't find which ones I want to play with.....I haven't had any accidents in the crate at night at all...Foster Mom is really pleased with me....I still have to go out a lot, but she and foster Dad work this out.......They both really love me a lot... They say I am so good.....All I need is someone to be with me.......I can guarantee that I will give you a lot of love....And I will amuse you....Just give me a lot of toys and I will play with them.....I know Foster Mom loves me and wants me to be here, but I really want that special person who understands my medical needs to love and care for me......I will not disappoint you......I'll love you....I am such a sweet little girl.....Want a cutie? I'm her..........

1/12/04 - Hi...Zoey is doing just great here....She has learned in one day to ring the bell to go out....With her problem, this is good. Last night, I let her out at 1 AM and put her in her crate.....She did get out again at 4 because foster Dad got up...She was whimpering...She's letting us know....."So out she went.....Now, I got up late, a lot later than usual....and let her out...She has not had one accident in the house all day.....She will let me know when she wants to go out...I admit, that she needs the attention...It's not her fault...This is one really smart girl.....She adores toys.....Loves the talking ones,,,Is going balistic over them I was sitting here, and saw a toy fly by me....She was flipping it......Now she's sleeping on the chair...I've been ousted.....No more chair for Foster Mom..... If anyone has the patience to give an adorable girl a good home, or if you are home most of the day, this is the girl for you....She needs a special person to love her and take care of her....She's not that bad.. Just has a medical problem that can be taken care of........I can attest, this is the most adorable, lovable, boxer ever.........I've only had her for 2 days, and I am in love already...I'll hang on to her until the special family comes to get her......She will love you to death........

1/11/04 - Zoey had a really good night.  No problems, goes in the crate, she hasn't peed in the house again since yesterday...She and the guys are all going out together, and all are doing fine.  Right now, she's in her room, on the couch resting.  I know she's been shifted around, but she really seems to be adjusting well in a short time.  I love when she wants something, she will just sit and stare at me, and if I ignore her, she'll start to talk......It is so cute...I wish I knew what she was saying.  I have to second guess....I've been right 3 times so far...One, she wanted to go out, then the other, she wanted water, then she was hungry, as she really didn't get fed that much yesterday with the transporting.....She is one cutie.......

1/10/04 - Zoey's been here in upstate NY since early this afternoon.  Intros have been slow.  For some reason, Hunter wasn't taking to having another foster....No problems, but he was really put out....(probably thinks I'm keeping another one)   No way...
We are all sitting in the kitchen and I am on my laptop...All the dogs are with me.   They all just finished having Frosty Paws for dessert.  Zoey is sitting beside me, looking at the gang finish theirs, as she had her desert alone in her room.  The funniest little noises are coming out of her.... not growls, but she wants their desserts too.
She is so good. so obedient.  I had them all out before together, and they did just fine.  Tomorrow, I'll let them all go loose outside, weather permitting.  Zoey doesn't really like to be outside, maybe cause it so cold.  We've only had a couple of pee accidents in her room, but not too many as I'm letting her out a lot.  It's not her fault.
She and my Skyler get along the best...Go figure.....Two females.  I think the boys are jealous, that's all.  Right now, Bugsy is doing his dance, I call it...He prances around, and it's a funny sight, as he's so fat. He wants Zoey to play with him, but she's not too sure.....And Pretty Girl the cat is on the table with me......Zoey could care less about the cats.
Look for more updates to come

12/26/03 - Miss Zoey girl is as good as always. Fine with the other dogs and the cats in the home. She does need to go out often so she doesn't have accidents but other then that you couldn't ask for a sweeter girl to own. She and Frankie have developed quite the bond. They run, wrestle and play together so very well...anyone interested in two:o))

12/21/03 - Miss Zoey here. I am very sad to report that my mommy is very very ill and is not able to care for me any longer and I have to find a new home. I would love to go to a home with a stay at home person and possibly a doggie door so I can let myself in and out!. I still have my share of accidents and need to go out quite often. I am just the sweetest girl you will ever find and want nothing more then to give you all the love you can take. Please help my mommy to be happy and help me to find a wonderful home like I just had. I am glad to see foster mommy again but I do know it is only a temporary thing. I am waiting to hear from you so write soon! Love, Zoey

10/30/03 - Zoey came thru surgery very well. Had to be on leash for 2 weeks and is now frolicking with abundant energy. she is health and happy and a real joy to have as a companion.

9/29/03 - Zoey is doing real well. Her favorite outdoor hobbies are chasing down he big pink donut (which mommy can fling the farthest of all her toys) and running deer out of the yard. She is quite an impressive sprinter. Systemic staph infection has cleared nicely via course of meds. and the whites of her eyes are actually white now. Went to vet 9/28 for check up on urinary tract infection. Vet feels very strongly that Zoey must be spayed to avoid continued and future urinary infections. She is scheduled for Oct. 14. Zoey is very happy and much loved and I am sure will continue to thrive here. will update after surgery. Sam

7/24/03 - Zoey's mom just left with her....she couldn't wait till morning and they are camping out in the living room together tonight!

Zoey loved her from the moment she walked in the door...went to her jumped on her and gave lots of kisses...when Zoey settled it was under Sam's legs...not by me.
She is going to be very happy and spoiled rotten!

7/23/03 - Zoey is pending adoption.

6/24/03..Zoey...well what can I say more about this girl except "Why is she still here???" She is doing super in the house...is going most nights with no accidents and a couple of days this week with no accidents. I am so very proud of this girl and how very far she has come. Please consider this special needs baby for your home.

6/15/03 - Zoey here again...I am still waiting for that forever home to send in an application. I swear once you meet me, it will be love at first sight!! I love to give kisses, climb in your lap and be loved, I eat all my food, and I don't get into anything I am not suppose to. I never have #2 accidents in the home, only #1. What I would really like is a home with a fenced yard and a doggy door so I can run out to go when I need to. I think this would be such a great help to me. Mom says I am getting better. I can go all night in my crate with no accidents and went a couple of days last week during the day with none. Please think of me and maybe my coming to live with you. I hope to hear from you soon. Love, Zoey

5/24/03-Hi everyone, Zoey here! Mom is very busy and said I could write my own update today...ok so she is helping a little, but I am right here telling her what to say...she keeps telling me to "slow down I can't type that fast" But I am sooo excited. Mom tells me she is saving up for a new digital camera so she can take some more pictures of me so you can all see how WONDERFUL I look now!! (moms words not mine..I am really not stuck up:o) ) I have put on a lot of weight and and am looking so much healthier..mom has me on a special diet to help my liver and taking Milk Thistle suppliments to help also. I think I am doing better and I really hope it works. I want to have my very own forever family just like all the other dogs but mom says I may have to wait until I am all better cause there aren't many people out there that are wiling to deal with "my problem". I really am a good girl and I try very hard to not have accidents but I just can't help it. I just love everyone and am such a different girl now then when I first came in to rescue. I great everyone VERY happily at the door and give mega kisses. My coat is a vibrant red and very very soft. I absolutely love to cuddle up with you and have you just pet me and pet me...oh and a feww kisses are nice too. My foster mommy has taught me how nice everyone can be and I do not need to be afraid like I was at first. I didn't even like the other dogs in the home and now I love them all and give them kisses too! Even the grumpy older dogs seem to like me. I hope someone out there will like me soon and want to take me home...please consider it....foster mom says she will help with water proof pads for my crate...I just want to be loved. P.S....mom said don't say anything but I just have to ask...we have a few foster homes that do not have digital cameras and I would like to be able to see all my foster brothers and sisters get a home as quick as possible so if you can't adopt one of us, maybe you can send in a donation or donate a digital camera to our organization...I promise it will go to good use and by the end of the year we will have our 501 status so it will be tax deductible...please help...and don't forget to think about me too:o) Love to all, ZOEY!

5/16/03 - Zoey went in for her liver biopsy and the results are in. She does not need to have major surgery as it stands right now. We are putting her on a liver diet put out by Science Diet..a little costly but Zoey is worth every penny. She is also on a supplement called Milk Thistle which is suppose to help as well. Zoey remains to be one of the sweetest fosters I have had. She remains great with the dogs, cats and kids in the home. She has put on weight and is filling in nicely. I have had to move her collar out to the last notch and will soon be looking for a new collar to fit her:o) Her original parents were nice enough to send Zoey her toys for her to have. I think she remembers as she now goes to those toys to play with..her favorite is a rubber turkey leg! She picks it up and we play chase me...of course she always wins..too fast for me. Once I stop she stands there and shakes that thing as if to say "hey where's the meat!" Her coat is so soft and shiny..I tell you she is one excellent girl and we are hoping she will be able to go to a new home very soon. If interested feel free to send in that app anytime for her.. Keep an eye out for further updates coming soon.

5/4/03-Zoey went to the vets for her blood work abut a week ago and the results are in that her blood work is ok for her to have a sonogram and liver biopsy done on her. They had to make sure her clotting factors were ok first so she would not bleed to death from the biopsy. The next step is for her to have the biopsy done to rule out any liver diseases that may be causing her problems. Once that is complete the last probable step is that she has a portocoval shunt. Which is an vein that is present when a pup is born to bypass the liver while inutero. Once the pup is born, this shunt is suppose to collapse and sometimes it doesn't and this is what our vet feels is Zoey's problem. Zoey will need to go to Cornell hospital to have this surgery done by specialists. We will keep you updated with each step as she moves along..Please keep Zoey in your thoughts.

4/16/03 - Zoey continues to do well here in my home. She is a super girl and is doing terrific with all the dogs in the home. She has been picked up a few times by a co-volunteer to be taken to the park to play and spend time with her and her girls. Zoey is doing excellent in this department she is still a little shy but by no means as scared as she was when she came in. I will be speaking with our vet one more time this week to have a final decision on her surgery. Want to make sure all bases are covered for her. I will post another update in a few days.

4/5/03 - Hi again...Miss Zoey asked me to email you all to let you know how wonderful she is doing here in my home. She is doing much better with the other dogs and is out mingling with them on a limited basis..we are up to about half an hour at a time. She does very well except when my guys start playing, Zoey just doesn't know what to do..she barks like she wants to play but when they try to get her to join, she gets a little growly. I think with time she may get the idea. Zoey has certainly come a long way from when she first arrived. Zoe does continue to have pee accidents all throughout the day. If she is out and about with my guys I just ask her about every 15 minutes or so if she has to go out...she does...she goes out, does her business then comes right back into the house. She has NEVER had one poop accident at all...not even when she first came and had a slight case of diarrhea from nerves and change of food. Zoey will never be totally cured of her urinary problems. She is crated with pads during the day...I roll them up, wash them and put fresh down when I get home, the same in the morning and during the day as needed. Zoey is available for adoption but will need a very special family that doesn't mind cleaning up after her. She is sweet, gentle, frightened at times and needs a family that will understand her problems and never get mad at her for her accidents. She has come a long way in the trust department since arriving here and I love her immensely. She has never once been scolded or reprimanded for anything she has done wrong. She is a sick little girl and needs lots of love and patience...I can not stress this enough. Zoey is in no danger of being put down as long as she is healthy and with BAR..we are set to keep her as long as we need, however it would be nice if we could find that special family to call her own. She certainly deserves one. Zoey sends her love to all and thanks to all of her Boxer Angel friends for keeping her in their thoughts. If you have any questions on Zoey at all, feel free to email her foster mommy at tinaf@hvc.rr.com

3/24/03 - I know it has been a bit since Zoey's last update but we have been working very hard to figure out her medical issues. We ran some tests and had an ultra sound done on Miss Zoey and come to find out her liver is not full size. It is very underdeveloped. She needs a biopsy done on her in order to completely find out what is going on. This was to be done today but two vets conferred and decided that she was too high of a risk for this and would need more blood work prior to any surgery to make sure we don't loose her on the table. Surgery for this girl will not guarentee that her life will be any better. So we now have to decide what quality of life Zoey will have in having the surgery and not having the surgery. Will it prolong her life and make it better or will it remain the same. These are questions rescues face each day with dogs that come to us with much needed medical care that was not received prior to us...unfortunately sometimes it is too late. Zoey is comfortable and very much loved in my home. I do 2 loads of laundry per day, washing bed pads so that she does not have to lay on urine saturated pads. Zoey is worth the extra work though. She loves the attention and devotion she receives while here with me and I am more than happy to give this to her. She asks for nothing in return but some love. Zoey is one of the sweetest most loving boxers I have comacross and if I can give her a much as she gives to me then I have done my job. Please keep Zoey in your thoughts.

3/16/03 - Zoey has come to stay at the Guardian Angel Boxer Haven for a brief stay. She actually arrived on Monday the 11th but needed some evaluations done on her.  Zoey is extremely shy and scared. She is doing much better since she arrived but will need lots of love and devotion to make her a happy boxer girl again. When I first met her she really didn't want too much to do with me but now follows me around the home. Zoey does prefer men over women. She just adores my sons. Zoey does great in a crate, not a peep from her, however, she does have accidents a couple of time a day. We will be looking into this as she has an appointment on Tuesday to see the vet. Zoey is an owner surrender, given up due to her lack of house training. She is a love and just adores any kind of attention she can get. I have tried to introduce her to a couple of my dogs but it didn't go well so she may have to be an only dog. I will give her a few more days and then try again. Right now she is still just trying to figure things out as to why she is here and learning to trust me. This girl needs LOVE, LOVE, LOVE and A LOT of patience with her house training...Please follow her story and progress here on her site.
