5/1/04 - Well, its hard to be that in just a couple of days Bella will have been with us for a year.  She has become such a special part of our family.  She is such a love!  Her jealousy issues are pretty much under control, although she has become quiet the spoiled brat.  We are definitely happy with our decision to adopt her.  We look forward to having many happy and fun filled years with her!

11/9/03 - Hi, its Bella here just checking in for my six month update. I don't really have much to say, I love my forever family, and I know the love me too. I have become very comfortable in my forever home, and I know now when I leave its o.k., because I always come back to my home. People who don't know any better think I have been with my family since I was a puppy, because I am so content here. I have also become much better with my boxer brother Keno, if I start any trouble with him I know when Mom or Dad yell NO, I better back down. Besides its not worth fighting, because I know we both have more than we could ever need of food toys, and love in this house. Mom, Dad, and our human brother Ty spoil us! Well, I'll check in again in May after my first year here. Oh, one more thing I just want to thank everyone at BAR, who helped me while I was there, and for finding my forever family for me!

8/3/03 - Hi, its Bella here. I'm just checking in for my three month update to let everyone know how happy I am. I have been doing really well. My forever family take good care of me. I turned 2 since my last update, and my family had a birthday party for me complete with cake, frosty paws, and even a present. I think they really love me. I have got many new nicknames since I moved in: Swell Bell, Bella Bella Boop, and sometimes Smella Bella (gas problems). I have lots of fun playing with my 2 brothers here Ty (human), and Keno (boxer). Keno is 7, so he doesn't always feel like playing, but he does well for an old boy. Then there is Ty, he's 4, and always wants to play with me, sometimes he even tuckers me out. I'm a swimming dog now! I love when my Mom and Dad have time off, and we all get to hang out by the pool. There is nothing like a good swim to cool you down. I just have to learn to keep my mouth shut. I've even been behaving pretty well. I don't get in fights with Keno anymore when someone comes in the door. Well, I better go now it's time for me to get back to playing with my brothers. I don't want them to have to much fun without me! I'll be in touch in another 3 months on my 6 month anniversary. Love, Bella

7/7/03 - Well, it has been two months since we adopted Bella, and she has come a long way. She is not as aggressive with our other boxer anymore. To see Bella here at her forever home you would think we had her since she was a puppy. She is very comfortable here in fact she thinks she owns the place! She also seems to be very attached to us. Bella loves our son Ty, and has become very protective of him. She has had a very busy month. Bella completed her obedience class. She was the star of the class. She definitly had some previous training. We have also been working on her swimming skills in our pool, and she is becoming quite the little swimmer. She really enjoys being out by the pool with us. Bella even went away with us over the holiday weekend. I was a little nervous that she would be scared, and think we were going to leave her there, but she did well. She was extremely happy to get home again though. Bella sends her love to all the volunteers who helped her find her forever home. We'll update you on how she is doing, and all the events in her life again next month.

5/24/03 - Hi, its Bella writing to you from my forever home. Life is good here. I get lots of love and attention. I think I might even be getting a little spoiled. My forever family consists of Mom, Dad, a 4 year old human brother (Ty), and a seven year old Boxer brother (Keno). We have a lot of fun here. I love to play with Ty, although I will have to say I was glad when he decided to play vet this morning it was with Keno. Keno and I have come a long way in the past three weeks, we even share our toys now. Keno and I have an occasional tiff still. I'm usually trying to show him I plan on being the boss around here. Mom says she doesn't like it when I get that evil look in my eyes. My dad lets me out every morning to go to the bathroom, when I wake up, and then when I come in I go wake mom up. I put the top half of my body on the bed and give her nose nudges (my form of kisses). I used to get really nervous about going in the car, my dad thinks its because I was afraid I was going to be left at another home, but now that I've gone out a few times and come back here I'm much better. I love to play in my backyard. I have a lot of room to run and wrestle with Keno of course. I still haven't quiet figured out the neighbors horses yet. They keep me guessing! I don't even have to sleep in my crate anymore. I sleep on the new bed my mom and dad bought me. Well, I will update you again next month on all the fun I'm having. Hopefully by then I will have been able to try out the pool we have here.

5/3/03 - Bella has been adopted.

5/2/03- Bella is pending adoption!

4/26/03-Hi...It's Bella. Foster Mom is letting me use the computer to write to you this time. She's found out a lot of really good stuff about me. I've been obedience trained, it seems. Whatever that means, I don't know. I sit, stay, down. I'm hanging in the bar. That's become my home. It's nice and cozy here. I get to sleep in the chair and I have lots of toys. I don't mind being alone. I don't cry or try to get out of the gate. I must admit, I have ousted the resident kitty who hung out here though. I love kitties, but they aren't too sure of me. I walked right by one the other day and he didn't do anything, and neither did me. He's not afraid...He's the big old guy. I'm down here because there are way too many boxers in the house, and way too many fur kitties too. 5 of them and 3 other boxers. It's just too crazy with all 4 of us running around. But I like being alone. It doesn't bother me. Foster Dad comes down and hangs out with me all the time. I get to go upstairs at night just to hang with the other guys for a while. I have a great big yard to play in and I like that too. But, I'd rather be inside. I'm off the special diet now, and my tummy is doing OK. I'm just eating Chicken based food. Some Yogurt at times too. No scraps. The one thing Foster Mom loves about me is that when she comes down to do the laundry or get something from down here, and the gate isn't up, she just tells me to stay by the open door to the bar and I do. She came back down last night, and I was still sitting by the door...Didn't move...I'm a smart girl. She was lying on the floor with me last night and that was really neat...I just cuddled up next to her and went to sleep. She must have snuck upstairs, because I didn't even notice. I am such a mellow pup. I'll be the perfect companion for anyone. I've met people and I love strangers too. I must admit, I'm in love with the little pudgy guy, Bugsy. He's my man. Foster Mom says I have the wiggliest wiggle butt she's ever seen on a boxer. And t Bella

4-22-03-The Boxer Country Farm and Retreat got a new visitor on Easter. Bella is adorable. Her other foster home had too many dogs to take care of and was fostering another one too. So we thought it was best to move this little girl. Bella gets along great with the boys here, Bugsy and Hunter. She is very mellow and quiet...She's got her own room downstairs with her crate if she wished to use it. And a Futon to sleep on and the radio on for her to listen to. Bella has been outside with both the boys and loves to run and play. She actually bounces. She and Bugsy, the little fat boy, love each other. When I first introduced Bella to Bugsy, the first thing she did was pick up a toy and wanted Bugs to play with her. They ran around the room trying to get the toy from each other. I found out that this little girl is really well trained too. She'll sit, stay, down and comes immediately when she's called. Bella will make a fine addition to a home. She loves to lie by my side and put her head on my lap. Bella met a lot of people in the last two days, and was very outgoing and friendly with them, being strangers. They all thought she was beautiful, with that brown spot on her head and one on her back. I also walked Bella across the street the first morning, and she is wonderful on the leash. This is one very well behaved little girl.

4/1/03 - Hi, it’s me Bella. This is the first time I have been able to write from foster mom’s computer. I am having fun here at Boxer Buddy Retreat, but I wonder where my forever home will be. I love running and playing with the resident boxers and their other dog Angel. They all play really nice with me and help me get the exercise I need. I have been going into my crate a lot better. I also know when I go in I get a cookie and I sit and wait patiently for it. Foster mom says I need another bath. I took a shower a couple days ago with my foster dad, and I stood really still for him while foster mom waited outside of the tub with a nice dry towel. Wow, was I dirty! Now you can see all my pretty freckles. Foster mom keeps telling me how beautiful I am and how beautiful my eyes are. She says I will make someone a nice companion. I have been good around the resident kitties too. I can walk right by them and even sit next to them without any fuss. I like it here, but I still dream of my forever home with my own family. Are you the family I have been dreaming about?

3/28/03 - Bella is having a good time at the Boxer Buddy Retreat, but is wondering where her forever home will be. She loves to run and play, go for walks, and sit on your lap. In fact, this morning she was sitting gently on my six year olds lap, who said she could hardly feel any weight on her lap. So it just proves how gentle she is. She does have a accident or two when she first jumps up where she accidentally steps on you while trying to get situated. She is a real sweetheart. She continues on her diet of Hill's Prescription Diet Canine I/d, and has lost quite a bit of weight thanks to Rudy helping her to exercise. She and Rudy run for hours, they love the backyard and run from one side to the other and back again over and over. They also circle the backyard as if it were a giant race track. And believe it or not, Mack keeps up with them for quite a while but his poor puppy legs still are not ready to take all that on. She has not peed or pooped in the house, and has went out every time the pup has and done her thing outside.  She has been a wonderful girl, she is great with my kids and can even sit next to my cat (the other one is still hiding due to too much puppy power...lol). She has been a great companion, and will be missed when her forever home comes along. I know the right family for her is out there.

3/20/03 - Bella is doing great. She has grown more accustomed to sleeping in the crate. She still has tendencies of times when she is scared. Loud noises tend to startle her, but we tell her she is safe and let her know she is safe and she is fine. She has been excellent with my kids and cats, and not one accident in the house (besides the first night--to be expected though). She is definitely going to be a wonderful addition to someone's family. She is waiting for her forever home, hopefully the Easter Bunny will be nice and help her out.

3/18/03 - Time for our 1st day update for Bella. Bella is a beautiful white spayed female with a small brown spot on her head and another on her back. She has the most beautiful eyes. She is UTD with her vaccinations. She is on a prescribed diet of Hill's Prescribed Diet Canine I/d dry and canned food.  She appears to be a little overweight, but a little exercise Rudy style will help that. She also tends to get warm and pant quite a bit. I will be keeping an eye on her there. She is good with kids, dogs and cats. She stays next to you when on a leash, no tugging or pulling. She also does very well off the leash and does not wonder off. She comes when called too.  The only thing is she dislikes the crate, but will go in and stay nicely once she is in it (bribery works wonders).

She is the sweetest girl. She will stay in one place when riding, but she has to find her place first. It only takes a moment, and she is set to travel (she likes the window seat too). This girl is truly special. She immediately batted her beautiful eyes at my hubby when he got home, and he just melted. All 4 dogs tackled hubby as soon as he came up the stairs.

Bella will make a great addition to any family. She can be calm, but if around another boxer like my Rudy, can wrestle with the best. She also tends to like to sit on your lap, as my husband found out last night. More to come as we get to know her a little more. Pictures will follow if I can ever get the camera to download.
