6/3/04 - We have had a great year with our Bonkers.  He has settled down and is better with strangers (somewhat).  He does bark when a stranger comes to the house and he bounces around, but never close enough for them to pet him.  He is still my love bug.  Always wanting to be near and climbing up on my lap whenever I sit down.  We tried not crating him when we left the house, (he was escaping from the wire crate, bent the bars with his teeth and would lift the door up) I was afraid he would hurt himself getting out.  But alas we have to put him in again because he is messing in the house when we are not here.  Separation anxiety?  Anyway, everyone is happier now.  Thanks so much for letting us have him in our lives.

11/29/03 - These past 6 months with Bonkers (as we call him) has been wonderful. He and Keeta get along great. Bonkers is still my love bug. He will climb up on my lap to give hugs and kisses whenever I sit down. He has also taken to sleeping between my husband and myself in bed with his head on one of our pillows. Bonkers passed his Obedience Class. At first he was so scared of the other dogs and people that he would not do anything for me, but we worked everyday and he finally realized that I was not going to leave him and he started to do the things I asked him to do. His greatest achievement was when he did a sit-stay and let the instructor pet his head. He sat there and shook like a leaf in a wind storm, but he did not get up. Bonkers is still very skittish of other people who come to the house. He runs and hides under the computer desk. If someone tries to pet him tucks his tail and comes to me and sits between my legs. We have found that Bonkers is an escape artist. He bent the bars on a metal crate and was able to unlatch the door and get out. I was afraid that he would hurt himself, so we put the crate away. The skin-boys have to make sure that all their toys and etc. are put up when we leave the house and then we have no problems. He has chewed some things (TV. remote, foam cat bed, couch pillows and toys) I have an expandable baby gate that I will use to block off the Christmas tree. Bonkers loves the snow. He gets out there and races all around the yard and loves having snowball fights with the skin boys (he eats the snowballs). He also loves to wrestle with the skin-boys. He and Keeta get right in there and start licking faces and ears. Bonkers weighs 60 pounds and the vet says he is a perfectly handsome boxer boy. We are having a time with our boy, thanks for bringing him into our lives.

9/2/03 - It has been a GREAT summer with Bonkers. He has learned to play "Keeta-ball" with Keeta-girl and the skin boys. That is where they play with a heavy duty beach ball. Batting and nosing is around the yard. He has gone on walks in the woods and loved sniffing every blade of grass and tree trunk. He is still very skittish around people he doesn't know, hopefully Obedience class (which we start on Friday the 5th) will help him with this. He is a great alarm clock, leaping on the beds and snorting in your face. This will come in handy once school starts. He can wake the skin boys up for me. He is a wonderful addition to our family and we Thank you.

8/1/03 - Bianco or Bonkers as we lovingly call him is GREAT. There have been no more accidents in the house and he is a love. He is learning to play with the ball and rope. His favorite game is to body slam Keeta-girl until she plays with him. He still likes to be where ever you are, but he is becoming more secure here with us. We wouldn't give him up for the world.

7/1/03 - Bianco is my snuggle bug. If you sit down that is his invitation to crawl on your lap. Even when I am sitting at the computer, he tries to crawl up on my lap and help me. He has taken to sleeping on a quilt by my side of the bed. I like that, because we have had a few accidents at night and if he gets up during the night I hear him (tags jingle) and I can let him out. We tried letting him have free run of the house when we were gone, but there too we have had a few accidents and a few things chewed ( TV remote, a pillow) so we crate him when we leave. He goes right in with no problems. I hope that with some time and training, that we can leave him without crating him. Other than those minor accidents, he is wonderful. Loves to play outside with Nikkita and the skin boys. He doesn't let Nikkita or myself out of his site. He is a little skittish around new people, it takes him awhile to warm up to them. He does bark now, not alot, but if someone comes to the door, he will give a couple of woofs to acompany Nikkita's deep barks. Everyone says how handsome he is and how well behaved. He always comes when he is called, he knows "sit","down" and "no". I'm working on an obedience class, hopefully when I call them back next week, they will have a class set up for the middle of July. Bianco is a wonderful addition to our family, and we would'n trade him for the world.

6/9/03 - Hi, just a quick note to let everyone know that Bianco is wonderful. He is soooooo happy to be with his Mom again, he doesn't let her out of his sight. Our family is now complete and we Thank you for letting us have him in our lives.

5/28/03 - Bianco is pending adoption.

5/18/03 - Bianco is a big mush! He loves to cuddle. He plays outside with the other dogs, but has not taken to playing catch or tug with them or the kids. He mostly loves to lay around and cuddle. He loves to be loved and pet. He does not bark, not even if someone knocks on the door. Also, he is not into the boxer kisses thing. Maybe on occasion he will slide a couple in, but they are few and far between. He does not like being tied out at all, he loves to be able to run. A fenced in yard would be the best. This beautiful baby just wants someone who will take a lot of time sitting and petting him. He is such a sweety, so loveable. If you are looking for a cuddle bug, and a sweet loving huggable baby, Bianco is your man!

5/8/03 - Bianco is a true lover boy. He loves to cuddle and get really close. He is quiet and calm in the house, and will open up and run and play out doors. He does keep a close eye on me as he does not like to go very far away. He is sincerely a great little man. He does not like to be on any type of chain, run or tie out. We tried both to see how he would react, and he truly does not like it. He will walk nicely on a leash though, but still prefers the freedom to walk the yard. A fenced yard would be the greatest preference for this little man. He listens great and comes inside when called. We are working on some basics like sit and down, but with all the commotion at Boxer Buddy Retreat, training time often turns into exercise time. We will keep you posted on our little sessions as the training continues.

4/27/03-Bianco has been running and playing any chance he has gotten today. He has loved and enjoyed the sunny weather. I think he would do great with a big fenced in yard. He is very calm indoors, and tends to find his spot on the couch to sit and rest, or goes to his crate to relax. He is wondering where his forever home will be. We will miss this wonderful little man. He is so full of love that he will make someone a wonderful companion. Will you be his companion?

4/25/03-Bianco was neutered yesterday, and is doing great. He loves to play outside, but today he was taking it easy. He loves car rides with the other dogs. He has even had a shower, which he didn't mind at all, after he was in. He is all ready for his new home and his new family. He is a good boy with lots of love to give. He is really calm and does not get overly excited. He has taken well to his crate, and goes in it on his own through the day just to lay down in his own private space. He sleeps well over night in the crate. Are you the family for this handsome boy?

4/22/03-Bianco has made himself at home. He loves to run and play, but is mostly a calm laid back big man. He will play outside, but when inside knows it is not the proper place. He will walk on the leash, but still tends to walk between your legs as if you were going to use him as a horse. He would much rather run in a fenced in yard, or very large country area. He comes in when called. He tries really hard to be lap dog, and tends to force the issue by pushing himself onto your lap. He is to be neutered soon then he will be ready for his forever home. Could it be your home he come to?

4/17/03 - This Brooklyn boy took a couple days to adjust, but I think he is coming around! He went to the vet’s yesterday and was brought UTD on his vaccinations. Everyone at the vet said how beautiful and how good this boy was. He has an appointment on the 24th of April to be neutered. He was placed on some medication due to puss leaking from his sheath. The vet said normally they would just leave it, but it was an extremely large amount that could cause his throat to become irritated and inflamed if he were to clean it. He tolerated this procedure well, as it’s not a pill! He was placed on Nolvasan Suspension, 1 x daily for 5 days then Sunday and Wednesday for 3 weeks; this of course to be done by me. The good news is his heartworm and fecal tests were negative. Oh, and the vet loved him so much he gave him the cutest Easter bandana for him to sport in. It is so cute.

OK, now for his adjustments, he is beginning to play…hurray! He hops like a bunny when he runs, and makes sure everyone is watching. He is not too fast, my old Angel thinks that’s great…someone she can keep up with! He plays with Rudy, Mack and Bella too! He does not like the leash at all, and is very funny, let me explain. When on the leash and you are stopped, he will walk around and go between your legs and just sit there, as if you were riding him like a horse. He will walk very nicely on the leash but prefers to do his business off the leash. Once my husband let him off that leash to begin to train him, boy was there a difference, a totally new and improved Bianco. He absolutely loves his crate, just mention going in and he is there! He does do a little timid movements still on occasion, but now instead of burying his head in the couch, he likes to sit on your lap.  Still a bit shy about going into the kitchen for water, so we will continue to inch the extra water bowl out that way. He has also begun to give wonderful boxer kisses!

We are absolutely head over heals for this boy. He has the most wonderful
personality. He will make someone the best companion.

4/14/03 - Bianco is a wonderful addition here at Boxer Buddy Retreat. He loves to cuddle, but is very scared. He has been great with my 3 children and seems to be attached to my 8 yr old and my husband. He has been good with the other dogs and cats. He has adapted to being in the crate overnight. He ate for the first time today, but only a small amount with a small amount of water as well. He has a vet appointment on Wednesday to bring him UTD on shots. At this time they will set up his appointment for neutering. More to come as he progresses.

4/13/03 - Bianco has arrived at the Boxer Buddy Retreat. He is definitely scared, shy and timid. I could not write right away as he would not let me go anywhere away from him. He is in the corner of the hallway laying down right now.  He was introduced to my kids and has done well with them. He is being introduced through the gate to the others here at the retreat. He has backed away to the corner of the hallway where he is laying down. I will write more as I learn more, and send pics when I can. Thanks!-- Andrea
