7/12/04 - We couldn't have asked for a better dog. Blu is just great. He now weights 80 pounds. He doesn't
like the winter weather so less exercise. He loves the warm weather and sun bathing. He has a
special little spinning dance that he does when he wants to go for a walk. Blu has also built a
great relationship with our neighbors. They have a black lab mix so when Blu is in a mood for a milk
bone (the neighbor calls them cookies) he knows where to go. When we can't find Blu we know where
to look.

Blu just loves being with our family. The kids are growing and Blu has no trouble adjusting to
having a two year old chasing him around his trucks or cars. He also enjoys following our 10 year
old while he rides his bike. We live in a neighborhood with hardly any traffic so we have lots of
families who walk their dogs and Blu loves to meet them. The families and dogs are a little leery
but soon find out that Blu is one of the friendliest dogs they have ever come across. When most
people meet Blu their comments are that he is such a good dog and we agree 100%. I make sure I
tell them that we rescued you him through Boxer Angels Rescue. I hope that encourages people to
check out our site. Blu is a great spokes "dog" for Boxer Angels. We are so happy and couldn't have
dreamed of a better dog.

8/11/03 - All is well here at the DeKow house. Blu and his oldest brother (the two legged kind) just had their birthday party yesterday, they share the same birthday. Blu is 3 and his brother is 10. Blu loved sharing the frosting on his little brother's cake. He also loved all our guests, especially the ones who brought gifts for Blu- dog treats! We are going to surprise Blu later with his presents a Blue fleece blanket and big dog bone!!! There is a lot of loving going on here. Blu loves sitting on our laps. I didn't know we adopted a lap dog!

7/3/03 - Blu is doing great. He loves his new home and his family adores him. Blu and the baby kiss each other every morning and neither one of them minds each others drool! he likes to follow his 9 year old brother on his bike and they stick to each other like glue. He recently had a check -up and he is healthy. The vet's office were so impressed with Blu's beauty and good nature. He also is up to 72 pounds. Blu has certainly adjusted to his permanent home very well. He truly is a wonderful addition to the family. We are so lucky to have each other.

6/12/03 - Blu's forever family reported to his foster family that he is AMAZING - He is a wonderful dog!  They have had no problems with him at all.  Everyone just loves him.  They have a one year old and Blu does not try to take food from him or even pick it up when he drops it.  He has met other dogs of family members and neighbors and is just fine with them all.

6/4/03 - Blu has been adopted by a lovely family here in CT.  The family seems to have the same kind of calm personality as he does.  His new 8 yr. old skin kid shares the same birthday as Blu and I think they are going to be best buddies.

6/3/03 - Blu is pending adoption.

5/31/03 - Since we are scheduled to get another overnight foster tomorrow night, we pushed up our schedule a little and let Blu sleep in the family room with our other 2 dogs last night instead of putting him in the crate.  I put the intercom on so I could hear the dogs during the night and he was just fine.  Now our overnight guest on Sun. has a crate to sleep in!
Blu is the calmest, most laid back Boxer I have ever seen.  He is just so happy to play with other dogs and  kids.  He has a great appetite and will make some lucky family the "perfect" dog.

5/30/03 - Blu came through his neutering with flying colors.  My husband picked him up on Wed. afternoon and he acted as if nothing had happened to him.  He was a big hit at the Vets office and one of the people working there wanted to adopt him on the spot!  He has dissolving stitches, so he doesn't even have to go back to the vet.  He was given all of his vaccination boosters, although he was UTD, because BAR has a policy that any dog who is within 4 months of needing shots receives them with us.  He was due in July, so now he is all set for a whole year.  He also had the heartworm preventative shot last fall and has been started on the monthly chewable Heartguard by us.  So Blu Baby, as much as your foster parents would like to keep you, we know that you deserve a home of your own and you are all ready now for that journey.

5/27/03 - Blu is continuing to fit right in here like he has lived here all his life.  I have never seen a dog acclimate so quickly!  When I look at the floor at them sleeping, I have to look real closely to see whether it is Blu or my Joey because they look so much alike.
Blu will be going to the Vet tomorrow to be neutered.  Yesterday when it rained for the entire day and none of the dogs wanted to go out, he marked a few times, but only on the tile floors of the laundry room, bathroom and kitchen, never on the carpet.  He just loves to run around outside in the fenced in yard.  He and Coco romp and play with stuffed toys for long periods, then come in and take a nap.
Blu is a very gentle dog.  He responds very well to basic commands, but could use a little work in the leash department.  He does cower a little when corrected, but all of our fosters seem to do that until they feel comfortable and know what is expected of them.

5/25/03  - Blu slept all night in the crate without a sound.    I gave him his breakfast this morning, but he didn't eat it.  After a romp outside, he met my 2 Boxers through the gate outside and they really wanted to met each other.  I put him back in the crate to go grocery shopping and again he was perfect.  When I came home, I put him in one of our fenced areas and let each of my dogs in there with him one at a time.  They got along just fine with no issues.  Then I put Blu in our hallway with a nice soft doggie bed, a ball, and a stuffed toy to take a little rest.  He and my dogs watched each other through the gate and they all paced around wanting to get to one another.  So while it was still nice this morning, I let them all out in the fenced in area together and they ran around like mad and had a great time.  My dogs were so excited that they slobbered all over the place, but Blu was quite composed and had a great time.  Since he hadn't eaten yet, I cooked up 3 hot dogs, cut my dogs up and put them in their bowls, but I hand fed Blu his and he was so gently that I couldn't believe it.  He took each piece very softly from my hand.
This afternoon I let Blu in the main part of the house with my Boxers and they have all been having a great time.  I am surprised at how well they are all getting along.  My old boy, Joey, is so tired just trying to keep up that he will sleep very well tonight.
Blu lived in a home with 3 children who ranged in age from 9 to 14 during the 3 years they had him.  I will be testing him with my 4 year old grandson in the next few days to see how he is with younger children.  He slept in bed with the children in his former home and they describe him as friendly, shy, quiet, playful, obedient and calm.
Blu also lived with cats previously, but chased them, so we will be also testing him with our cat to see how he respond to her.
Blu is a handsome physical specimen.  He is is a light, honey blond fawn who looks almost silver in certain light.  He is very flashy with beautiful markings.
Blu will be neutered ASAP and then he should be ready to go to his "forever" home.  I'm sure this young boy won't be with us very long!

5/24/03 - Blu arrived this evening from NJ.  He hitched a ride with Aunt Nancy and every time she called me to update where she was, she kept telling me, "You are going to love this boy."  She was absolutely right! He is a very good boy.  We came home, he did his business and went directly into the crate without an issue.
