Pertinent Information
6/15/03 - Boomer is adjusting very well. He has
been eating better and getting used to the daily routine. Boomer was
microchipped last week. He begins training school in a few weeks, which
should teach him some much needed manners. Although the fact that he is
spoiled rotten probably doesn't help! We have sold our house and will be
moving in a few weeks, so this is a busy and exciting time for us and
Boomer!
5/19/03 - Hi! Boomer is adjusting very well. He is a finicky eater, but getting better. He is such a lovable boy and we feel very lucky to have him. I think he misses his buddy at the foster home, so we are hoping to get him a friend in the future. We are selling our house and looking for a larger one w/ more of a yard, so we can accommodate two active dogs. Boomer went to the vet yesterday to get started on preventive heart worm and flea/tick meds. The vet said he is very healthy and only needs to gain a few pounds. Thank you for all your help in finding our new love! He's a great boxer!! 5/3/03-Boomer has been Adopted! Today was the first day of Boomer's new life. He was adopted by a very cute couple from New Hampshire. He knew the minute they walked in the door that they were his and he was theirs. Good luck to Boomer and his new family (you have yourselves a wonderful little guy!) 5/2/03- Boomer is pending adoption! 4/26/03-Dear Boomer, I'm sorry you're feeling "violated". But try to remember that camp and the nice head trainer are building character in you...so that you're an even better pup than when you came. Sounds like you've forgotten where you came from...and that's a good thing. Your life is only gonna get better from here on in and you can't take that old "baggage" with you. So the trip to the doc was necessary. It also sounds like you've been listening to Mikey and here's some advice...DON'T! You'll be with a wonderful family soon...one that's just right for you. In the meantime...listen to your trainer, eat your veggies, don't follow the wrong crowd, and remember that everyone wants the very, very best for you. Love, Aunt Patty 4/25/03-Dear Aunt Patty: Why do you hate me? You sent me to this terrible place they call camp! I'm sooooooooo miserable. Everything was going o.k. until Wednesday morning. Then that witchy head trainer lady, says "Rise and shine, Boomer my man . . . want to get neutered today?" Well, let me tell you, I thought I was going to "GET" something out of this deal. She tricked me! Yoikes, I'm as miserable and low as moss on the dark side of a rock. Usually when some one asks you if you want to "get" something, you actually "get" something . . . a toy, a treat, a trip to the post office. What happened to me is NOT my idea of a fun day. I HATE CAMP! For three days, I've been laying here, moaning and trying to find a way to get comfy. And that pest Mikey keeps getting in my face. Arggggg. I don't want to play, I don't want to eat, just LEAVE ME ALONE! When are those nice people going to come get me? I want to leave here. It's not fun any more, I don't care how much they say this is for my own good. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA 4/18/03 - It seems that the PA version of the Asian flu hit camp full force this week, so we've been laying kind of low. That leaves poor Boomer to look to Mikey for guidance in the day to day routine. Yikes. Boomer and Mikey will play non stop for hours and then all of a sudden . . . crash! It's immediate nap time. They have the best fun dragging each other around playing tug, doing the ever popular boxer jabber jaw, seeing who can find the biggest stick outside (and then try to get it through the dog door without breaking). I'd give anything to be a boxer adolescent and have all that energy. Boomer doesn't have much of an appetite for such a skinny guy, but the regular meals are starting to show what a handsome boxer fellow he is. If it warms up enough this weekend, he'll be getting a bath so brighten up all that flashy white he has. He's really a good boy and fits in nicely here at camp. He still hasn't attempted to get on the furniture, but he did pop up on the bed the other day. Three good size boxer boys and me . . . all in the middle of the queen size bed for a nice nap. Boomer is such a happy and friendly dog, it's a joy having him here at camp, but we here that there is a special family just waiting for him to be neutered and they'll be heading out to claim this bouncing boy for their very own. 4/12/03 - Boomer went to the vet this morning and got a thumbs up for his neuter surgery this Tuesday. He was a good boy while at the vet's but certainly wasn't as thrilled about the visit as he thought he'd be when he saw me pick up the car keys! Boomer is a nice quiet boy in the house, but does need some work on his public appearances. He's, as the song goes, an "excitable boy." Not unmanageable, just eager to meet everyone. He rides well in the car and we're practicing his leash stroll so that's not so much of a work-out. He picked up on the dog door a bit too quickly . . . until he's neutered, I'd just as soon he didn't get too much of what's in the spring air. I feel that Boomer would be good with kids, although he might be a bit rough for small ones at this point. I don't think he'd purposely hurt anyone, it's just that we need to work on his social skills yet. One thing that I've noticed about Boomer, is that he will not, under any circumstances, get on the furniture or beds. That is definately non-boxer behavior! In the interests of his future forever family, I don't believe I'll encourage him. He doesn't quite know his new name yet, so "come" isn't one of his strong points either. He is good in his crate, once you get him in! Boomer is a sweet boy with lots of potential. All it will take is time, patience and love and you too could have a "champeen" boxer! 4/8/03 - What a nice boy Boomer is! He has blended into camp more easily than any kid so far. He's calmed considerably and despite his lack of "real" knowledge is very quick to pick up on the routine here. He's mastered the dog door to come in and is trying to figure out how to go out. He doesn't get on the furniture, doesn't bother the kitties, plays well with everyone, and seems very content to be someplace warm with lots of food. At meal times he looks at me as much as to say "is ALL this really for me?" He loves to give kisses and is very neat about it to boot. We think he's a bit smitten with Miss Lacey as he follows her around with a dreamy look in his eyes. Although he's not yet neutered, we don't see a lot of "studdiness," a few marking incidents, but that's about it. Boomer isn't terribly thrilled about our recent snowfall. The other two campers love to run and play in fresh snow, but Boomer is happy to come in and just hang. I haven't had a chance to have him out and about yet, but we have had some folks in and there is absolutely no problem; he loves everyone. This boy will be ready to move on to his forever home as soon as he's vet checked, so get those applications in soon. He's a first class boxer boy. 4/5/03 - The staff and crew of Boxer Training Camp are happy to welcome a new camper. Formerly known as Tyson, he will be receiving a new name in the next few days. This boy comes to us from a shelter in western PA. It was reported that his previous owners surrendered him in order to avoid a neglect investigation. He is thin and dirty, a bit overwhelmed by all the activity around the bunkhouse, but all in all a very nice guy. We'll be working on adding some weight, getting him up to date and neutered, and perhaps some socialization. We were initially thinking he'd be a wild child, but first impressions are sometimes deceiving. After sniffing around some, he's settled down a bunch. We'll be getting to know each other in the next few days, so keep watching for new updates. This is one boy that I think knows magic: He's going to disappear before your very eyes! |
