3/31/04 - Dutchess is doing well. She even has here own bedroom, although she enjoys sleeping in my son's room. She is still crazy as ever with tons of energy. She enjoys running and playing in the backyard.

9/8/03 - Miss Dutchess has truly found a new home. She is so good with the kids, even for what they put her through. She has almost completely stopped jumping when people that come through the door. We are working on her going on the counter for food. She is very much a puppy with a lot of energy. On the whole she is a good dog that loves to spend time with the family.

7/11/03 - Dutchess is doing very well at her new home. She is loved very much by all of us. She is making progress with walking on the leash, jumping on people and house training. She has a lot of energy and is very playful. She will be going to obedience class soon.

6/16/03 - First weeks update called into foster home:
We spoke to Kim and Tim last night about Miss Dutchess. It seems that she is doing wonderful. She has had a couple of accidents in the house, but not very many. They have closed off a room for her to have to herself at night so they don't have to crate her. She has her own couch to sleep on in there and is very happy. The kids love her as much as the adults do. Dutchess is fitting into their family very well. She is home!!

6/8/03 - Dutchess has gone to her forever home.  She will have two skin kids to play with and a nice big fenced yard to run around in.  She immediately took to her new family and they to her.  I have attached two pictures of her with her new family.  They brought her a nice new shiny red collar and leash and have lots of toys and treats waiting for her at home.  We even got a bonus with this one.  They only live a mile or so away from us so we will get to see her whenever we want.  And if they need her to burn some energy she can come play with our dogs.  I think she has finally found her forever home.

6/7/03 - Dutchess is pending adoption.

6/7/03 - After being here more than a month now, Dutchess has really settled in. She now believes it is her job to protect the house. If she hears a car or sees a person she feels it is her job to warn them to stay away. She is all bark though. She still is a fairly quiet dog. She will bark to protect the house, and to get our dogs to play with her. She is not an excessive barker at all. She continues to play well with our dogs and loves to lay around with our kids. Her favorite position is on the couch curled up next to one of the kids. Dutchess has become very accepting of her cage at night and when we go out. Once in awhile she may whine a little but if you tell her "NO" she will lay right down and go to sleep. There are times that we put her in for bed and then I sit to finish up some stuff on the computer and she just lays there and falls asleep. She has been really good with her housetraining as well. She has only had two accidents in the past week. And with all this rain and them not really wanting to go outside, I am very happy with her improvement. One of her accidents was yesterday when we had downpours all day. I didn't want to go out in that stuff either. Dutchess is also responding very well to her commands, but still tends to pull on the leash. There are many different ways to help them with learning leash behavior and we have been trying out a few with her. Remember she is still a puppy in training, and with gentle training she will be great. Dutchess is happy and healthy and ready to go to her forever home. If you are interested in this pup, please get your applications in. She'll be waiting for your call.

6/4/03 - Dutchess got to go see the vet again yesterday. He says that she is looking great. He took out her stitches and she is free and clear to have a bath and run around as much as she wants. She did have a little bit of swelling from the surgery, but the vet said to leave it and it will go away on its own. I have got to say that this little bundle of energy is really turning into a nice little dog. We have not had any accidents in the house for 3 days now. And she has calmed down considerably. Dutchess is beginning her transformation into the Boxer pup that she is meant to be. Sure she still has her puppy moments, but for all intents and purposes, she is still a puppy. She is a Boxer under 3 years old ya know. Anyway, I'm sure that little Miss Dutchess will find her forever home soon. she is more ready now than she ever has been. She will make you very happy if you decide to adopt this little girl. So, get your applications in quick if you're interested.

5/31/03 - Hi guys, this is Dutchess. My foster mom decided since she wasn't feeling too great that she'd let me use the computer this time. What a crazy time we've had here at M & M Boxer Bunker. When I first came here I was overjoyed and wanted to play all the time. Mom said it was just my way of expressing how much I loved the freedom of getting to spend more time out of a crate than in one. I know I don't have very good manners yet, but I'm trying. After all I am still a baby. Nobody ever really told me that I had to obey rules and that there were things that I wasn't allowed to do. I didn't even know how to play with people when I came here. I really thought they were just human dogs. So when I play with humans I still need to be told to take it easy. Sometimes I forget but if my humans screech and say ouch, ouch, I stop and look at them and give them kisses to apologize if I accidently hurt them. I do get to play as hard as I want with my foster brother and sister though and I like that. They are both still very young too and can keep up with the energy I have stored up for the past year. Last week I went away and went up to a vet who did something called a spay. I didn't really like that, but I think it was more because they took me away from my new friends. When I came back I was so happy but foster mom kept telling me I had to take it easy or I would hurt myself. I don't know what she was talking about because I felt fine. Then over the weekend I got to go all by myself with my foster parents to a house full of other humans who love Boxers and gave me lots of attention and let me kiss them as much as I wanted. I liked that place. The only thing I didn't like is that this whole time since that spaying thing foster mom said I have to stay on a leash. I don't like going potty while I'm on the leash. I even had a couple of accidents in the house. I tried not to, but I used to be allowed to go in my cage and I forget sometimes that I have to use outside for my pottying.
Foster mom said I can go out without my leash on now, & I'm not having accidents in the house so much anymore.  (See I told you I just didn't like going while I was on the leash.)  I also got to go and stay with some other really nice humans for a couple of days, but I was a little too rambunctious for them.  So, here I am back at my foster home.  I like it here, but I would really like a family of my very own.  And, if you have a doggy brother or sister for me to work off some of my puppy energy with that would be great.  I am happy & healthy & ready to go to my forever home now.  So, if you want to make me you loving companion who will shower you with kisses, get your applications in quick.  I won't be available long.  I'll be waiting for your call.  Love, Dutchess

5/28/03 - After a brief trip away, Dutchess has come back to stay here a little while longer. It seems that she was a bit too rambunctious for her new mom and dad. For the remainder of her stay with us we will try to work on her energy level, but she is still a pup after all. We call her our little energy ball. She has a little more energy stored right now because her exercise time is cut down because of her stitches. She doesn't seem to be bothered by them, but because she's still healing we need to try to limit her play. Otherwise, since she first came to stay with us, her best form of exercise was playing with the two resident Boxers. If you have the time and energy to keep up with this playful pup, please don't hesitate to apply. She is the biggest sweetheart we have ever known.

5/23/03 - Well Dutchess is back from her spay. She's a bit tired but still wants to play. We have to keep telling our two to leave her alone. And her to leave them alone. But for the most part, everything is going good. She isn't even as sore as I thought she would be. She's a little stiff, but she was still able to jump up onto the couch by herself tonight. Anyway, Dutchess is doing fine and is going to get plenty of rest before her new mommy and daddy come to get her on Sunday. She will be missed around here, but we are eager to see who our next project will be.

5/21/03 - Miss Dutchess went for her check-up yesterday and was a very good girl. Everyone at the vet's loved her. HW and fecal testes came back negative and she is now UTD on her vaccinations. She also goes tomorrow to get spayed and then will be all ready to go home. Dutchess has been continuing to get better with her manners and listening. I think she does better and better every day. This little crazy pup is turning into a very nice dog. I will update again after she comes home from her surgery.

5/19/03 - I have got to say that we are very proud of this little girl. Over the weekend we went out for the afternoon and took our two dogs with us. Dutchess was left alone in her crate for the day. When we got home I was expecting a crazy nut to come bounding out of the crate knocking everyone and everything over. Well, that was not the case. Dutchess came out wiggling but not going crazy. She was very happy to see us and gave lots of slobbery kisses to us and the dogs, but did not bounce off the walls. I told her how very proud we were of her and she smiled back at me as if to say, "see I can be a normal 1 year old Boxer and not such a crazy dog." This little girl has calmed down so much in these two weeks that she has been here. She is doing great. She goes to the vet tomorrow for her check up and is scheduled for her spay later in the week. After that, she is ready to go to her forever home. She has proven to me that she can listen and learn and has shown great improvement in the little time she has been with us. If you are interested in a puppy attitude that loves kids, dogs, and even cats, then get your applications in quick for this little girl. She will go fast. I will update again after her vet appointment.

5/14/03 - Well, Dutchess has now been with us for a whole week. She has begun to calm down a lot. She is slowly but surly learning some manners. We have been concentrating a lot on "stay" since when she first came to us she always wanted to try to run out the back gate. She is improving on this daily. We have learned that you can do anything to this dog and she could care less. My 2 year old daughter lays on her and watches TV. We can tug on her ears, jowls, or anything else and she just licks you. She's also a very quiet dog. She only barks once in a while when she is really getting into her play time with our two dogs. Dutchess still seems to not have any issues with our cats. She did follow one of our other dogs on a game of chase the kitty the other day, but does not seem to want to initiate the game herself. Because of her lack of knowledge on what she can and can't chew on when left to her own resources, we have been putting her in her cage at bed time. She did cry the first few nights for the first few minutes, but now goes in without any trouble and immediately lays down to go to sleep. Even when I'm still sitting in the same room, she doesn't make a peep. I guess she knows now that it's only for the night and she'll be out again with the family first thing in the morning. Dutchess is really such a sweet baby. She just needs some guidance to teach her the manners she's still lacking. With a little bit of time and patience, she is going to make some special family very happy. I do think that she really needs another doggy in the house and maybe a kid or two to keep her occupied. Dutchess has a lot of energy to burn and would love to do it with you by her side. So get your applications in quick. This little girl isn't going to be available for long.

5/9/03 - Boy oh boy. What can I say. This little girls never gets tired. Dutchess has been with us for 3 days now. Most of which due to emergency personal matters, we weren't able to do much with her evaluations. We have found that she couldn't care less about the cats in the house. She wants to lick everyone and everything in the house. She still has her wonderful (haha) puppy manners. And I don't think this dog ever tires. My 8 1/2 month old puppy gets tired out long before Dutchess does. We will be calling Monday morning to get her appointment to be spayed and updated on vaccinations. And we are hoping to give her a nice bath over the weekend. We will continue to evaluate her behavior and see if we can get her to calm down a little bit. I think right now she is just so excited to have companionship (especially canine), that she doesn't know what to do. We will update again real soon. If you want a dog that has plenty of energy to burn, don't hesitate to adopt this sweetie. She will melt your heart as she does with everyone she meets.

5/7/03-Well, our first visitor arrived late last evening at M & M Boxer Bunker. Her name is Dutchess. So as not to confuse her with BAR's other Dutchess, we will be calling her Dutchess of NJ. Dutchess met both our resident Boxers last night and they all have been playing wonderfully together. Dutchess loves other dogs and will definitely need one in her new home to keep her energy level in check. She is a very energetic 1 year old that just wants to play non stop. Dutchess seems to know some of her basic commands like sit, sometimes down, and sometimes come. We have also been introducing off and leave it. We did introduce Dutchess to our more confident cat and all she seemed to want to do is lick him. She didn't show any signs of wanting to give chase at this point. We will continue to monitor this situation throughout her stay with us. She also met our 3 skin kids this morning. She was so excited that she did knock my 2 year old over a couple times, but is now calming down a bit. I don't think Dutchess has ever had this much free time and attention, so this being the first day, she is over excited. She does need to learn some manners, but that will come in time. She's a quick learner and is eager to please. If you are interested in having a playful, energetic, loving pup & have the patience to teach her the manners she needs then get your applications in quick. I don't think this one's going to stick around long.
