6/29/03 - Well, I had to go to the kennel for the weekend, but it was okay. I was about it because I saw my new brother Soprano there with me. The cat stayed home in the bedroom, not the kennel. Hey, that's not fair! Well, we will update tomorrow when we come home from the kennel.
6/25/03 - Well….I just love my new home!!!!!I sleep with Noelle and her sisters (Gabrielle and Arielle). Then when they wake up I give them there 10 min. kisses or a
morning kisses. When they come home from some where I love to give
them even more kisses. I love my new home. Hope all you boxers out
there get the same kisses and hugs that I get!!!!
Love always, Misty 6/9/03 - I wanted to thank you all so much for our new dog. I really can't tell you how happy we really are with her. You would have to live with her to believe it, but she is one of the best, well behaved dogs that I have ever had. she listens 110%. When I said that I had to have a dog that was house broken, I never expected this. Who ever had her last really cared for her, they worked with her constantly on obedience. She looks to make you happy. We had breakfast and lunch with her at our feet, never once asking for a drop. I praise her a million times a day. I don't want her to change. She meet our dog Soprano last night behind a gate and already by today, Misty has full run of the house (with a nylon leash dragging, just incase), but we already have photos of them sleeping together on the couch. The only problem still is max the cat!! But in time they will be friends also. Well, that is all for now, but I can't believe how amazing she is. thanks for the perfect dog!!!! Sharon 6/7/03 - hi misty here, ,i am at my forever home!!!!!!i got there last night.my foster mom was so far in to ct that we got home at 11:35 at night.i was sleeping on the way home.i just love there cat.last night i slepted in the crate in noelle's room.at 6:20 i woke up to go to the bathroom.i just love this place!!!!!right now my (real)mom is playing ball with me.i do miss my foster mom but i just love my new home!!!!!!!!!!my forever mom keeps telling me sit, stay, give paw,and i have to do it every time and then i get a reward or a good girl, you are so good misty!!!!and my tail just waggs and waggs.i know that my forever home really loves me!!!!!!!!! love, misty!!!!!!!! 6/2/03 - Misty is pending adoption. 5/31/03 - I woke up this morning with two dogs on my bed and Misty is the kennel at the end of my bed. Saturday!! That means a quick fix outside, and then race back to bed for another hour! Misty beat me to it, and there she was on my bed with Bosley and Poppy. They all seemed cool with it, so I crawled in rather than put Misty back in the kennel. Then, the two step---or in this case, the four step---shuffle began, with Misty clearly in the lead. She got herself in the position next to my head, and what a sweetheart. Her little face squished up to mine, snuffling under my head, and then she gave me a kiss, but instead of moving her face, she just rested in on mine. I was laughing too hard to go back to sleep. We continue to see a fabulous dog emerge in Misty. Tonight I was working in the yard, in the pouring rain (I don't know why I like to plant things in the rain, but I do) and all four dogs were having a ball, working off their energy (too much rain these last couple weeks!) I was so engrossed in my planting that I didn't notice how muddy the dogs were getting, playing in the rain. They all needed to be hosed off before coming inside to a towel rub-down. Misty handled it like a real Trooper. In fact, there is nothing yet that hasn't impressed me about this dog! Today one of my cats refused to run off when Misty approached her. She remained on the dining room chair, even thought Misty was just aching to snuffle her. I allowed Misty to go under the table (I still have a long light-weight leash on her just to be safe--easy grabbing if needed). Well, her butt was wiggling so fast, and yet she did not get into Trixie's space. It clearly required a lot of willpower on Misty's end---she even put her head down of the chair next to Trixie and looked the other way. I believe that she was trying to make Trixie feel comfortable. I think that Misty was the cat in the worst way, but not to hurt---just to paly with. I feel pretty comfortable at this point in saying that cats are most likely doable with Misty. She is a true lover. 5/29/03 - Tonight I'll report on Misty's eating habits. She likes canned food mixed into her dry, and eats breakfast and dinner. But what I really want to say is how quickly she picked up on our treat routine. Last potty call always ends with a bedtime snack, and my three dogs automatically sit in a row in the kitchen waiting for me to pass out the treats. Guess who just tagged onto the end of the row! no problem at all---Misty just joined in with the chomping. Another amusing story---yesterday I was concerned because I hadn't actually seen Misty drink any water since arriving. I asked everyone "have you seen Misty drink yet?" and no one could quite recall. So, I decided to make sure she was drinking. I got the other dogs out of the kitchen and led Misty over to one of our two big stoneware water bowls. She was so funny! She sniffed and sniffed the w2ater as if she didn't know what to make of it. I said, "Well, Missy Misty, this is what you get from family style water bowls." Then, she actually took a paw and slapped the water! I knelt down and wiggled my fingers in the bowl and encouraged her to take a drink. Here's the punch line---she dipped her nose well into the water and blew bubbles! Three times! She only managed to get a few licks. I wonder if she had one of those upside down jugs with a shallow bowl. I have since filled the bowl several times just covering the bottom, and as of tonight she can easily take a drink from the full bowl---she has finally figured it out. But I will never, never forget my bubble-blowing foster girl! 5/28/03 - Well, we are
finding our beautiful Blue Misty Skies a dream dog. Rarely does a foster
dog blend in so nicely with our three dogs so easily as Miss Misty has.
Let me update you with what we have learned about this lovey girl since
the last update. She can play non-stop with another dog, In fact, I do not
think she'd be happy without another playful dog in the house, so keep
that in mind if you are thinking of adopting this girl. We took Misty for
a good walk, and she is a leash puller. She is also very well trained,
however, so when we said "Heal" at the intersection, she sat
immediately. What a nice surprise---we are seeing that someone has done a
nice job training this girl. Cats---well, she has had access with close
supervision. I can say that she has had opportunities to corner, snap at,
or grab a cat and she has not. She has, however, chased out cats. She also
wants to chase cats she sees on a walk. I am encouraged because we can
call her name and she will leave the cat chase to come to us. So, if I'm
totally honest, I would say that I personally would supervise her closely
with new cats in a new home, because she is so very interested in them,
but that my overall impression is that she would not hurt them. i think
its possibly doable, but i would not stake my life on it. This is based on
a few days of observation, and who really knows. She did have a cat in her
last home, and did not bother it. Another thing that is clear about Misty
is that she is very protective of home and home folk. My son came home
from camping and couldn't get into the door---we had to let Misty know
that he belonged. So, she should not go to a home with an open door
policy. 5/25/03 - Introducing Blue Misty Skies,
according to her papers. She is called Misty, or her nick name "Mish
Mish," which causes her tail to wiggle so fast it is a blur. She is a
beauty and so sweet! She loves attention and leaning on us for a hug and
kiss and following us around and keeping her eye on all the goings on. She
had great fun investigating the doggie basket and pulling out each toy
individually and giving it a good sniff-over. She slept well in a crate in
my room---she does not like to be left alone but settled down nicely when
moved to my room and able to see Poppy sleeping on my bed. She really
loves other dogs. 5/24/03 - I arrived at my foster home this evening and Mom will be sending in an update real soon. |
