Pertinent Information 6/3/04
- What a wonderful year we have had with our Keeta girl. I can't
say enough good things about her. 11/29/03 - What a wonderful 6 months we have had with out Keeta-girl or (Baby) as my husband calls her. (He's not too attached or anything.) Keeta is such a good girl. She and Bonkers are great together. She keeps him in line. She loves to wrestle with the skin-boys on the floor. She gets right in there and starts licking faces and ears, wiggle-butting the whole time. Keets is not fond of snow. The first snow fall we had in the middle of November, she would not go outside on her own. I had to push her out and stand out there with her while she did her business and she would only go on the shoveled or plowed parts of the yard. (Driveway, walkway ) We had to dodge land mines for a couple of days. Keeta passes her Obedience Class with flying colors. My fourteen year old son trained her and she did everything and anything he asked of her. They have become very attached, Keeta even sleeps on his bed with him. Keeta's scratched corena has finally healed on its own with just eye ointment twice a day. I took her back to the vet last week and he pronounced her fit as a fiddle. She has not lost any more weight, but is holding at 70 pounds. She looks good and the vet commented on how muscular she is. I can't say enough good things about this super lady. We love her and thank you for bringing her into our lives. 9/2/03 - What a wonderful three months it has been with our Keeta-girl. She has fit right in and we can't imagine out lives without her. She loves to play "Keeta-ball" with Bonkers and the skin boys. That is where she gets the heavy duty beach ball and noses and bats it around the yard trying to keep it away from the skin boys. It's great fun to watch and to play with her. She loves going for rides in the car to visit the Grandparents. Some how she scratched the cornea of her right eye. (Rough-housing with Bonkers?) So she is now on meds twice a day for that. Vet hopes it will heal with this ointment so that he won't have sedate her to flush it out. I hope so too. We start obedience class this Friday. I will send all the info as soon as we finish the class. Thanks again for letting us have our Keeta-girl. 8/1/03 - Nikkita or Keeta-girl as we call her is wonderful. We have had a great summer so far with her. She looks great. She hasn't lost any more weight, but she is toning up. She is out with the boys playing constantly. We don't know what we would do without her. 7/1/03 - It's been one month since we adopted Nikkita, what a wonderful girl she is. She is very content, never a problem in the house goes outside without a leash or tie out plays soccer with her skin bothers and always comes when she is called. We can't believe how lucky we are to have her. She loves having Bianco here with her, they sleep together, eat together, go out together and play together. We stopped in at the Vets on Friday just to have her weighed and she has lost 7 more pounds!!!!! I asked the Vet if I should be concerned, and he said no that with the low-fat food, all the exercise and the good lovin' she is getting it was great. Her hair has grown back completely and she looks wonderful. I have a line on obedience class, hopefully by the middle of July, the kennel I talked to will have their new training room all set and a Trainer ready to go. I have to call them back next week. I can't say enough good things about my keetta-girl, when visitors come, she runs and gets her squeaky bone and wiggle-butts all around them, then drops her bone at their feet, when they bend over to pick-up the bone she attacks with kisses. She also does this when we come home, even if we've only been gone a few minutes. We love her to pieces and can't imagine our lives without her. 6/9/03 - Nikkita is SOOOOOO happy to have her baby boy Bianco with her again. They do everything together. Today they went to the Vet to meet Dr. Mike and get their HW preventive and Frontline. Nikkita has lost 2 more pounds!!!! Yeah! She is a perfect lady. 6/5/03 - I know it is not time for our update yet and I will call James and Diana on Sunday, but I just couldn't wait to tell everyone what a sweet heart Nikkita is and how she has fit right in. We can't thank you enough for letting us have her in our lives. As my husband says "She's a keeper". 6/1/03 - Nikkita has been adopted. 5/28/03 - Nikkita is pending adoption. 5/18/03 - Nikkita enjoyed a long trip to the New Jersey Expo yesterday...along with her Foster Sister Star. She was very good in the car both ways. And very good at the Expo with people and other dogs. I do think, though, by the end of the day, she was getting a little tired of it. But Nikkita really is such a nice, sociable dog. She's loosing weight slowly and looking better and better every day. I can't believe she's still with us and not in her Forever Home....because Nikkita is so family orientated! 5/5/03-Nikkita is such a GOOD GIRL!!! She truly is a pleasure to have around. As a matter of fact.....half the time...you never even know she's here!! She's just so funny! Anytime we come home from somewhere, Nikkita picks up a bone and runs around with it all wiggle-butt.....just too cute!! And by the way, we never have to crate Nikkita. Even when we go out....she has free run of the house and never does anything bad. No separation anxiety for her. For you folks who have to work every day...and need to leave a dog alone for longer periods....we think Nikkita is just perfect. After being with us for about a month...she has only had one accident in the house by the back door.....and that was our fault because we didn't let her out late enough. We've taken Nikkita quite a few places. Everyone thinks she's wonderful....BUT....just about everyone comments on her size. Some people have said "Gee I'd like to see her when she slims down". Well people discriminate against over-weight dogs just like they discriminate against over-weight people. NOT FARE...BUT THAT'S THE WAY IT IS!!! Nikkita is loosing weight slowly and eventually will loose the weight she needs to loose....but meanwhile she is still a WONDERFUL BOXER GIRL!!! She can't wear a baggy t-shirt and baggy pants to hide her size. She has to be out there in the au-natural all the time...not like us!! So please don't be SMALL MINDED about her portly size. You can be big enough to give her her Forever Home and big enough to take her with you. She will make your family complete. 4/29/03-Nikkita got weighed-in today at our Vet and she lost three pounds! We know that doesn't sound like a lot....but it's better than gaining three. What Nikkita really needs is a FOREVER HOME and nice, loving people....like you....who could take her for a daily walk or two. Here on the mountain she just basically get's to wander around the fence-in yard. Nikkita's hair is growing in nicely. She looks really good! It's just such a pleasure to have her here with us. She loves it when our grandsons come to visit. She's very low-key. Doesn't let much of anything bother her. SSSSSSOOOOO WHAT ARE YA WAITIN' FOR??? Nikkita is ready to go to her Forever Home!! And we're sure she'd be happy to have you help her with her weight loss program. You'll never be sorry. 4/20/02 - I took Nikkita to the Meet and Greet on Saturday. She really did GREAT!!......with all the people and new dogs.......no problem with her what so ever! We got Nikkita's blood work results back from our Vet. She is heartworm negative so we gave her her April dose of Heartguard. Nikkita's thyroid levels were slightly elevated and we started her on meds for that. The Vet feels it will help her not only with her weight loss program......but will help her alopecia as well. The Vet feels quite sure that when her weight goes down.....so will her thyroid levels. Listen folks.....please don't let all the medical talk scare you. It's all minor stuff. Nikkita is really a good girl. She's just a pleasure to have here with us. After the Meet and Greet on Saturday.....I had the good fortune of transporting Diego to Newburgh, New York...And you'd never know Nikkita was in the van.....she rides son nicely! In our last update we said Nikkita had no problem with cats and passed her "cat test"..well we know she doesn't want to hurt them but she does like to study our cats up close. So if you'd like a GREAT FAMILY DOG......which has many, many, many years of happy life in her.....Nikkita is for you!!! Don't wait!! Grab her up while you still can!! 4/15/03 - Nikkita went to the Vet today. Got all her shots and she was heartworm tested. She had her teeth checked, her ears checked and passed her physical with flying colors.....except for being overweight. The Vets and techs really loved her. She's such a sweetheart and she has a wonderful personality. She's an extremely calm and dosil Boxer Girl. Nikkita also passed her CAT TEST at the Vet today!! YEAH NIKKITA!! She doesn't mind being crated....but Nikkita is so well-behaved.....she has the freedom of the house. She get's along really well with our whole herd!! Nikkita knows all the basic commands, walks nicely on leash, and she is housebroken!! Another YEAH NIKKITA!! Sorry to say....whoever cut her tail when she was a pup.....cut the entire tail off. But she gives great Boxer Wiggles! And wonderful, sweet Boxer kisses.....not face-washes...just little kisses. Nikkita will make a great family dog. We'll be Child-Testing her soon.....but we don't feel that will be a problem at all. She does have at least 20 pounds to loose but with her low-cal, low-fat diet and some exercise it should happen in no time. You know you don't have to wait for this sweetheart to loose weight to give her a FOREVER HOME!! You could be her LUCKY FAMILY to help her work through this. 4/13/03 - Greeting from Boxer Mountain!!! Nikita arrived here today. She's a four and a half year old fawn Boxer girl. And she has a very nice attitude. Nikita rode just wonderfully in the car. She laid down in the back seat....wouldn't even know she was there! Nikita is an owner surrender....where I'm sure she was well taken care of....AND got LOT'S OF TABLE-SCRAPS! The poor thing will be in for such a surprise here 'cause none of our dogs ever get any table-scraps. She is without a doubt the chubbiest Boxer we've ever seen. So it will be a low cal....low fat diet and exercise for Nikita. Nikita has a case of Alopecia on both of her sides. It's just a Winter thing and her hair will grow back during the Spring. This is a very common condition in Boxers. Nikita is a little nervous but seems very friendly. She met some of our herd thru her crate and showed no aggression.....just a little tail wag. We'll be taking her to our Vet early this week and we'll know her exact weight. She'll get all her shots updated and a real good physical exam. Aunt Tina took some pictures of Nikita and we hope to see them soon. |
