7/4/04 - We have had such a wonderful year with these two hams. Lately has been so wonderful for Star
because the turn over of the lake has brought all these tasty dead fish. She is well aware that mom
and dad are not real thrilled with her gross affinity but doesn't seem to care, because she still
tries to sneak them whenever she gets a chance. Walker has been good lately also. It has been a
little hot lately so he has been taking full advantage of his opportunities to swim. Today when he
got back from his run with mommy he waded out in the lake up to his neck and just stood there
waiting for someone to throw a stick for him. He is also a big sucker for boat rides, although I
think he realizes that part of mom and dads fun is watching him and his sister walk around with their
life jackets on. They both think they are quite bigger around all of a sudden then they actually
are. Doorways now all of a sudden seem unmanuevarable. We did have a little bit a a scare in
March with Walker though. We took him to the vet because of a tumor that was developing on his leg.
It turned out that it was non-cancerous though. It was funny though that day he got to go to
school for the first period with daddy, and he was quite the hit with all of the kids. Oooh what fun!
They both graduated from advance obedience over the winter, hooray for them. Star has found her
niche in the family as the beggar, and Walker is the protector. Any time that we eat anything Star
appears at our side. Sometimes I wonder if she might be something out of Harry Potter. She will
be nowhere in sight, and all of a sudden you open the refrigerator door and she materializes right
behind you, looking in to see what you are getting. Walker on the other hand is too busy making
sure everything is right with he world. "Ohh was that a firework? Woof Woof. Ohh was that the
neighbors grand child crying? Woof wooof. Ohh was that a leaf blowing across the lawn? Woof
woof." You get the picture. He does such a good job of letting us know everything.

1/31/04 - Wow its hard to believe it has only been six months since we got our two adorable babies. They have both adjusted so well. I can't imagine either one of them being without the other. Since our last update they have both graduated from advanced obedience training. Although Walker tended to out perform his sister on a weekly basis we saw great improvements in both of them. Unfortunately though they didn't have a very good Christmas. Mom and Dad were in Las Vegas and they had to go to the kennel for a week. Well Walker was just beside himself, and wasn't afraid to show Mom and Dad how upset he was that we were gone. It took him three days to stop moping around the house. They had a great Christmas though once everything was back to normal. In fact they each got nice presents under the tree like everyone else did. They were so excited about it that they even opened the presents themselves. Of course what dog isn't excited about peanut butter flavored biscuits and rawhide bones. Now everything is great though. It has been an exciting two weeks for both Walker and Star because they have had an unusual amount of company lately. We have been having our bathroom remodeled and there have been contractors in our house every day. They seem to really like all of the guys though. They have been quite wonderful helpers. Both of the clowns have been enjoying the snow, but Star seems to be enjoying it a little more than her brother. He doesn't like being outside for very long. In fact for their morning walks Walker would be more than content to just skip the whole routine. Star on the other hand is anxiously waiting every morning. What ever would we do without these two cuttie pies.

10/15/03 - Well Star and Walker have been getting up with me and going for 2 1/2 miles in the morning before I have to go to work. Last week when in began to get cold, Walker decided that it would be nicer to stay home with dad so he then can take over my spot in the nice warm bed. Star on the other hand is ready and waiting when that alarm goes off. Once there out and about they are ready to go but Walker can't wait to get back in bed with dad until he needs to get up. Walker is very good about not giving dad kisses until he sees dad's eyes open. Then he is a huge help and getting my husband out of bed.
Today was a very windy day and Star was very skittish with all the noises that she kept hearing. She kept running into me and hiding behind me.
Star has found yet another thing that she likes to chew on. She loves to get the close pins that I drop on the floor from doing laundry. She is such a funny little girl. Just the other day she also found a sock of mine and thought that would be better to use then her tug of war rope.
My husband and I are both teachers and we have brought many pictures to school to show of our wonderful family. They are such great babies. I will try to send some updated pictures of the two as well.

9/13/03 - Walker and Star are such a pair. They are absolutely attached at the hip. Star has been such a different dog since her brother came into the house. She is so much happier, she eats like a horse, and she is ready to play 24:7. We must be the luckiest boxer parents ever to get these two. Walker and Star are both enrolled in advance obedience classes that will start at the beginning of October. The class that they are enrolled in spends a great deal of time teaching off lead tactics, which is where ultimately I really want to be with these two. They are such a couple of hams though. The other day I was trying to fix a flat tire on my wives car and I was using the air compressor at my in-laws. Walker was just so sure that that noisy thing was attacking me. Every time that I would turn it on he would come running over and try to grab it out of my hand.
The other day Angela snuck into the house without the dogs knowing she was home. They were resting on the bed (as they do all day when we aren't home) just licking each others face (their favorite past time next to wrestling). She walked right up behind them and said "hey". The two almost did backflips followed by their characteristic "my God your home, this is the best thing in the world" welcome.
Its hilarious. We have a rope toy that both of these guys play with alot. Walker will always bring it to me for me to throw it for him. When I throw it across our vinyl flooring in the kitchen he will go tearing after with Star chasing him the whole time, bust Star can never seem to get her footing and she is always sliding all over the floor. It is the funniest thing ever. Stars new thing is eating acorns. While we walk her if there is an acorn in the road she always picks it up and eats it. Every now and then we will hear this crunching and when we look over there is Star just chomping away at an acorn. They also both love going for runs on the State land that we have near our house. They are just the best dogs.

8/11/03 - Walker and Star are doing fabulous together. Star has recently graduated from her obedience class. Both dogs adjusted so quickly to each other, and Walker acted as if he was in his forever home from about the third day here. They are both such wonderful dogs. They love to play with each other, and Star is absolutely enamored with her new big brother. Walker is so gentle with Star when they play together. Lately we have been going to a local state park and I have been letting them run on all the trials while we walk. The two of them just love going and have so much fun together. Star is definitely the leader though. She has no problem being the Queen. She started off as a princess, but has quickly assumed the queen position. Star is definitely a different, and much happier dog, with Walker around. I could not be happier with the two wonderful new family member that we have adopted. Walker is always cleaning Stars face. It is so adorable.

7/19/03 - Walker is doing excellent in his new home. He and Star are like bookends..always together! Brad said Angela took Star to obedience class the other night without Walker there and she moped around the whole night and really missed him.

Walker is doing excellent..only a couple of small accidents the first day and they were submissive behavior.  Otherwise he is doing excellent. He and Star play great together.

7/7/03 - Star is doing absolutely fabulous. Her appetite is coming through full force. She is doing very well in obedience training (class of the field), and she is totally captivated by the squirrels and chipmunks.
She is the cutest thing when my wife and I come home from work, she is so excited. She kidney beans and is willing to dance with daddy, then we usually go out for a quick pee break, before she demands a quick game of tug o war with her absolutely favorite toy her tug o war rope. She is definitely a dog that is most happy when she is working. She has learned how to fetch sticks out of the lake from my parents yellow labs. Now every time we sit down star is religiously bringing a stick or her little orange ball to be thrown into the water.
Star had a very busy holiday weekend. We had three large family picnics to go to, and she was the entertainer for all three. The third day though she found the job a touch on the tiring side and we caught her stealing quite a few naps that day.
Other than that there is not much else to tell. Star has adjusted very quickly to our household and is just a wonderful addition to our family.

6/28/03 - Star is adjusting wonderfully to our home. She is such a good girl. She loves to cuddle and hang out with her new mom and dad. We are very impressed at how easy she is to obedience train. She is doing fantastic!! Star has come to realize that human beds are very comfortable and loves to lay on them. Star has come such a long way in the three weeks that we have had her. She was very nervous when she first came to our home now she is well adjusted, and seems to love it here. Her tongue has not been a problem. We have made a little stool for her food dish witch seems to help her to eat better. We are so lucky to have gotten such a wonderful girl.

6/8/03 - Star went to her Forever Home today. Brad and Angela from Lodi, New York just absolutely loved her!! They called us a short while ago to tell us they
had a wonderful ride home and what a good girl Star was. They said she is now
exploring the house. So we will be anxiously awaiting her first update. Star was just a great house guest. She was sooooo funny!! We will miss her.

6/6/03 - Star is pending adoption.

5/28/03 - Hello from Boxer Mountain. We think Star is probably the funniest house guest we've ever had! She's a REAL CHARACTER!! She's always been a good girl but she really seems to be coming out of her shell more and more. Here's just one example::: We have this bed in our computer room and it has a big draw under it. The draw is pushed in a good foot and a half with a quilt hanging down to the floor. This is Star's little hiding spot! She goes under there and you just see the tips of her paws and maybe her nose sticking out. When our other dogs walk by...Star loves to give them a swat with her paws or a little nip on the back of their leg. It's sooooo funny!!! A lot of times they'll get into a fifteen minute wrestling match in that position. Never real fighting.....just play. We also have a table in our living room in front of the window. We have several bird feeders in the front yard and squirrels, chipmonks, and an occasional cat will come to and under the feeders and Star will lay there for hours watching them. The only thing that really upsets her is the cats. We very seldom crate her anymore. She can sleep anywhere she chooses but she likes the dog bed on the floor by the side of our bed. Star never makes a peep all night. But I will have to say she is an excellent watch dog. If a person or vehicle comes around that she does not know..she will definitely let you know. Anyway...again......it's just so hard for us to imagine why Star is still here with us. If you want a great dog and have NO indoor cats......STAR IS FOR YOU!!!!!!!!

5/18/03 - Star went to the Boxer Expo in New Jersey yesterday. It was a couple hundred mile round trip. She was very good in the car. But I do have to say it was a big day for her and she seemed very tired when we got home. She rode the whole way with her Foster Sister Nikkita. Star was excellent at the Expo. She got to meet a lot of other dogs and people and she was just as sweet as she could be. There were some people who wanted to adopt her right on the spot....but of course that's not the way it works here at BAR. As you can see....we finally got some pictures up of this little beauty. And as far as her tongue goes......what you see is what you get! It doesn't bother her one bit. Star is now spayed and 100% ready to go to her FOREVER HOME!!! Star knows all the commands in the house. But she does need leash training and off leash she really needs training on the word "COME"!!!! Because if she get's away from you she'll take a hike!!! These are easy things to overcome....you just have to work with her. So wait no longer! Give her a Forever Home Now.

4/29/03-Star is with us here on Boxer Mountain. She was surrendered to us by a local Veterinarian who helps animal control officers with housing found animals. First of all...Star is just so pretty!! Right now she weighs 46 pounds and needs to be about 55 pounds. We're working on that with Aunt Nancy's special formula weight gain recipe. When we got home with Star.....we let her loose in our fenced in yard. She just went all over and explored.......did her business.......and came running back and wanted inside. She loves being petted and getting hugs. Star will jump in your lap if you let her. She was a little bit hesitant about going in her crate.......but once she's in there she is great......never makes a peep. We introduced her to several of our herd today when we were outdoors and she did just fine with them. As we said.....Star is absolutely gorgeous....but she does have one distinguishing feature...her tongue hangs out of the right side of her mouth all the time. It does look kinda cute but we were worried about it being a problem for her. She eats fine, drinks fine. We had her to our Vet today and he said he's seen this on several dogs and it may be caused by nerve damage on the right side of her tongue. So long as Star eats well he feels we don't need to be concerned about it. The only thing is.....when she's done eating.....there's always food matter left on her teeth because she can't lick it off. So Star's teeth will have to be brushed at least once a day. Star passed her physical. She's scheduled to be spayed on May 13th. Star will need obedience training. She did not do well with the resident cats at our Vet...so Cats will be a no-no. All the Vet techs and the Vets had to take Star in the back to see just how adorable she is. They all went crazy for her!! We'll do our best to get some pictures up on Star's page soon.
