Pertinent Information 3/15/03 - Billy has been adopted. 3/14/03 - Billy is pending adoption. 2/20/03 - Hi Everyone....This is Billy....I thought I'd write to you instead of Foster Mom. But she's doing the typing....I haven't learned how yet. The last two days here have been great. I haven't made ONE mistake in the house. I seem to be able to hold my bowels a lot better. I'm getting a lot of exercise. We get to go out and play a lot. I can actually run around. Foster Mom is so amazed at this. I may be a little disabled, but I can keep up with the other boys. I love chasing them and they love chasing me. I run up the hill and down. Another thing, I'm doing now is taking squeaky plush toys and playing with them. Last night, we got a hold of on and we were playing tug of war. All three of us. Foster Mom runs to get the camera, but when I see her, I follow....So she says she's going to have to sneak up on me. Right now, she's typing, and guess where I am? I climbed up on the couch. She turned around, thinking it was one of the boys and was so happy to see that I jumped up by myself. I really think I'm getting stronger. I've been a really good boy. I like to stare at the cats, but really don't do too much. It's only when Bugsy wants to chase, that I try to also. I was nose to nose with the little one the other day and didn't do anything. I'm very curious. Foster Mom says that my face just has that look. I have droopy boxer eyes and always look as if I'm thinking a lot. Well, I'll write again soon and keep you posted how I'm doing. I'm a special boy with a special disability that needs a home that will let me roam to get exercise. I'm also very good on the leash and will walk really nice with someone. I just love all people. Kids, dogs, all. I met a stranger the other day who came to visit and all I did was wag my tail at him and want to kiss him. I never saw this guy before....I'm a real mush and love. I'll sit by you with my head on your lap. I just want to be near people. I didn't have much of this before. Oh, and I'm good in the crate. At night, I go to my room and the crate do. Billy 2/16/03 - Billy has been moved to the Boxer Country Farm and Retreat as his former foster home had just too many boxers and fosters. So we thought it best to move him and also separate him from his Dad, so they can be adopted separately. The first night was uneventful. I had him in a room by himself with a gate up and the door to the crate open and he would go in there and sleep. He was very good. He had one little accident as when he got up, and loses a bit of control, but it wasn't serious at all. He doesn't wet at all in the house. This morning, I went outside with him and Billy really gets around very well with his legs being the way they are. I walked him up the hill we have and back down and around the yard. He was off the leash as I have a fenced in yard. But, up and down and again and again he walked. And it is very icy out there. He did very well. When my husband got up, I decided it was time to let them all get to know each other. Hunter first, No problem, then Bugsy, Still no problem. So out they all went. He really wants to play, but Bugsy was just a little too rough at first. So gradually, he and the other boys are really getting to know each other. Billy just loves to follow me all over the house, and this is good because he gets his legs moving. I even had him trotting after me. He loves to sit with his head on your lap. He is definitely a lover boy. Billy will make a great addition to any home. He's great with the other dogs. I'm not too sure about the cats yet, there are 5 here, But he did see two of them and really did not go after them. Billy will benefit from exercise, I'm sure. It's difficult now with the weather, but I'm sure that come the warmer weather, he will thrive and get much better. 2/7/03 - It has been decided that in order to find Billy and Clinton wonderful homes of their own we will be placing them apart from each other. I do feel they will be ok. When they are out Clinton is usually in the back with me and Billy remains in the front of the house with the kids. So from this point on they will have individual updates. Billy continues to thrive and regain more strength in his hind quarters each day that goes by. I am so proud of how far this boy has come, it is amazing. I watch him outside now playing with the other dogs and running around. He still falls once in a while but is really doing great. Billy just loves for you to pet and cuddle with him. He will come over when you are watching TV and lay his head in your lap for some loving. He can even put his front paws up on your lap now and give some kisses without his legs giving out on him. He is sooooo sweet and gentle when kids come to visit. I really do wish for a home with a child that can just love and adore him. That would make Billy so very happy. If you should have ANY questions on Billy and his condition, please email me at tinaf@hvc.rr.com and I will gladly explain anything I can. Please think of Billy and his future with you...no one deserves it more than this sweet boy. 1/27/03 - Billy and Clinton have been here for a little over two weeks now and have settled right in. They have met 3 of my dogs so far, male and female and have been great with them all. Clinton loves to play with you and the toys...he is such a happy bouncy boxer boy. He also has no problem sitting with you just being loved and cuddled. His looks sure have it all going on also...this guy is so beautiful....the perfect flashy brindle boy. Billy is a super boy as well...he doesn't play as much as daddy does but sure does like to get his share of the loving and gives it back three fold. He is great in the crate...sleeps all night. He does try to play with my girls every so often and does much better at this outside then in. I have wood floors and he does a lot of sliding. Billy needs a home that will have the time to walk him on a daily basis to help build his muscle tone in his hind legs. Please consider these boys for your home....fill out your app today!! 1/13/03 - First day alone....Well I went back to work today and these two boys spent the day in the crate...they were super!! No accidents for either one of them. Billy sometimes, due to his accident when he was younger has a hard time holding his bladder for any length of time but he has been terrific...no accidents at all. Clinton has become a bouncy, bubbly boy...when ever myself or the kids come home he bounces around and jumps up to great us...he is such a doll. He isn't much on the toys but sure does love the cuddling. I recently found out that he and Billy spent a few months outside in a dog house with straw to sleep on then were moved into a garage with no heat and some blankets. Both came in with doggy coats that they always wore. Their fur is a little heavier then normal and they are having to adjust to the heat but doing well. Billy has been put on a regiment of exersize. Starting today he will be walked each day after work gradually increasing his distance. His hind quarters are very weak and not having any exercise has definitely not helped him. So working him slowly into a regular walking routine will build his muscles. We went today for about a quarter of a mile and he did great...we walked at a slower pace and he wanted a bit faster so we sped it up a bit. He did wonderful! We got home he went out back for a few minutes came back in and is now resting... if you want a pair of walking buddies that are great on a leash and would like to give these guys the loving they are missing out on let us know...fill out your app today!! 1/11/03 - Day two: Clinton and Billy are doing terrific here. They have been introduced to all three of my females with no issues at all. They got to see my kitty from the inside of a crate last night and were looking pretty hard at her so that will go very slow:o) I made a nice soft bed in my nephew's room last night with some cushions and sheets. Billy thought he was in heaven! He curled right up and went to sleep...Clinton on the other hand, he decided the bed would be a bit more comfy for him so he snuggled at the end of Anthony's bed. A big no-no for the first night for a foster but these boys had been having to sleep in a garage for a bit so I figured they needed a little spoiling...also being owner surrenders and knowing a lot about them helps too. Billy had a little bit of a hard time this morning getting his legs in order and I had to help him down the hallway to the back door...by then he was ok and moving along. Both slept soundly through the night not needing to go out at all. They spent hardly anytime in the crate today and were wonderful. They do not get into anything at all. Love to get their fair share of the attention...and they deserve it. Both are here lying at my feet resting nicely with my 18 month old female. This pair will need a very special mom and/or dad to take care of them. Do to Billy's accident when he was 1 year old, he has a hard time walking sometimes and may need you to help him along. This is mainly after he has been laying down for a while. And it doesn't last too long. These boys are a wonderful pair and have so much love to give...will you consider them for your home?? 1/10/03 - Well Billy and Clinton have arrived via Cary Airlines. Billy is a 3 yr old Flashy brindle boy with natural ears and a docked tail. Clinton is his father...a 6yr old Flashy brindle with cropped ears and a docked tail. We will start off with Billy...When Billy was 1 yr old he was hit by a car. Extensive damage was done to his rear legs and he underwent major surgery. Billy can now walk but is a little weak in his hind quarters. Billy is extremely sweet and loves to put his head in your lap for lots of pets and kisses...don't worry, he isn't greedy, he will give you many great kisses in return. He is housebroken, good with other dogs and kids! Clinton is his daddy and Billy depends on him to be his protector. Clinton loves nothing better than to make sure Billy is ok and not in any danger. This boy is also a total doll and is great with other dogs and kids. The owner was forced to make the VERY difficult decision of giving these two boys up due to family changes. They are a little confused right now and wondering why they are here but with the love of a great new family I think they will adjust nicely. We will be placing Billy and his dad together so if you have room in your heart and home for these two great boys, PLEASE fill out an app today. |
