8/14/03 - Well sorry it's been so long. Max is doing very well. He just finished obedience training and he did very well. we were having a few minor problems with leaving Max home alone. But we have sorted them through, Max now goes back into the crate if we leave the house. He does so much better in the crate now then when he first came home with us. He cries for a minute or so but then settles down with out any problems, and when we get home there is no more saliva on the crate like there used to be. This makes me feel much more comfortable leaving him knowing that he is not distressed in any way. well that's all for now.

7/14/03 - Max is doing very well he has started his obedience classes and is doing great. The instructor says Max is a great dog. Max has to greet all the other dogs in the class constantly and most of them want nothing to do with him, the poor thing. He is such a love always giving kisses. Till next time, Bye

5/28/03 - Max is doing great. He starts his obedience class in June which should be fun. Max has been with us for 4 months now and has fell right into place with our family. he is a very happy lovable dog who always wants to give hugs and kisses. thanks again

5/2/03-I am sorry that this is a little late, life has been hectic around here. max is doing great. His paw has healed just fine no further problems. Max starts doggy school soon that will be a lot of fun. Max spent his first day away from home. We had an all day thing to go to and we didn't think it was fair to leave him alone all day so a friend of ours has a grooming/boarding kennel and he took Max for the day. Well Max was absolutely wonderful (we already knew that) our friend says that anytime we needed to be away for any length of time again to please bring max back he loved him he said Max was so well behaved and such a great dog. well so long for now Joanne

3/26/03 - Well Max has been here with us for two whole months, WOW it seems like he's always been here. Max is doing great. His Paw is healing. We did have to go get it re-stitched, (about an hour after the original stitches came out) The vet said he may have had an infection that was keeping it from healing the first time. This time we are keeping them in for 3 weeks just to be safe. Max loves to run boy he gets in the yard and goes. Now that spring has sprung we are able to start the fence, then he will be able to really go nuts. We went tho the park the other day and we saw James and his new adoptee Anna she's a beauty. We have looked into doggy school for Max and hopefully he will get in the class that starts in the end of April. Well that's all for now, thanks again for such a great dog.  We love him. Joanne

3/11/03 - Max is doing great. He is a happy energetic boy, who loves to run. We can't wait for spring so we can put up the fence so he can really run. He has been to our vet for his Lyme shots and did great. He is eating good I don't think he's gained any weight yet but were trying. He loves the boys he sleeps with my son Zak. We had to keep him out of his bed because Zak's asthma started to act up on him (not because of Max) but he still likes to sleep on the floor, so we put his bed in there and he likes it. Max had his first trip to the emergency vet (hopefully his last) he was running outside and his paw landed on something that gave him a really bad cut. The poor thing had to have surgery to close it up. He is doing much better now we go for a bandage change tomorrow. All of the people at the emergency vets said that max was such a gentle and handsome boy but of course we already knew that. Well that's all for now. Thank you for such a wonderful dog we absolutely love him. Joanne

2/26/03 - Well it has been a whole month since we brought Max home, it seems like he has always been here. WE absolutely love him. He is doing great. We had to take his crate away because he really did not like being in there. He would pant like crazy, I would come home and the whole crate would be full of saliva. I think he just got really nervous. So we tested him, first we went out for a short trip to see if he would not have an accident and he didn't. We were so proud of Max. So now we can go out for longer periods of time and no accidents yeah. Max has seen our Vet for his 2 Lyme shots and he did great. The vet says he is a very good boy. He sleeps with my older son most nights but lately we have had to keep him out of his room because Zak's asthma is acting up. (not from Max) once he is better they can share a room again. Poor Max he wanders around after Zak goes to bed wondering where to sleep. He loves to be outside and can't wait until spring when we fence in the yard so he can run all hew wants. Well that's all for now. Thank you very much for such a wonderful dog.He fits right in with our family.

1/26/02 - Well Max has spent his first full day with us and let me tell you it was eventful. First on our way home from Dina's house there was an accident on the highway right in front of us. thank god no one was injured. My husband the good sameritan that he is stopped to help make sure everyone was ok and that traffic was directed well. So then we were on our way again. We get home and Max checked out every inch of our house. Then we had to take my older son to the Emergency room so we had to leave him for a few hours. He did great! One little pee accident, But that's ok. He was so happy to see us when we got home. We had a little trouble with the crate, he did not want to get in and when he did he just cried. So the softy that I am took him out and he fell asleep on the floor in our room. Then when I woke at one point during the night he was sleeping with Zakary. Both were very happy. Well that's all for now we will check in again soon. Thank you so much for giving us such a wonderful dog we just love him lots. Joanne

1/25/03 - Well, Max is on his way to a wonderful life.  As soon as Paul and Joanne came into the house, it was instant love for all.  Max was excited with the new toy they brought for him, and immediately began to play with it.  I had to get a new family photo, in which you will all see, those sloppy kisses were already in action!  Max got right into the car as if he's known the family his entire life.  He didn't even look back.  He was too excited about sitting in between the two boys with his new toys.  I'm so glad for him.

As for us, Kevin called home before they came and in an attempt to make me feel better (because of course I was bawling) and said, "When they get there, why don't you pretend we're not home!" He always manages to get a chuckle out of me.  Buddy and Sasha have been running around looking for Max and here I am, with crocodile tears, writing this up.  That boy touched my heart in a way I'll never forget.

1/23/03 - Max is pending adoption.

1/20/03 - It has been five days since Max’s neuter surgery. He is doing very well. He just wants to play so badly, and seems depressed when I don’t let him join in the boxer fun. I wish he could just understand that I just don’t want him to get hurt! He is getting along so well with both Buddy and Sasha now. They are like the Three Musketeers. One thing I did notice though Max really does not like being in his crate during the day. Nighttime is no problem, but when we need to leave for work or to go out, he really does not like it. I put all the dogs in their crates the other day, as I usually do, but hung around to listen for a little bit. Max whined and cried and I could hear him banging on the door trying to get out. I think I’ll try stuffing an extra special Kong toy for him next time I leave, and see how he does with that. Other than that, this boy is a little angel and just loves attention. He will follow me everywhere I go in the house. Even when I’m working on the computer and the other two are running around downstairs, Max is perfectly content sitting next to my workstation with me. We’re still working on getting some more meat on those bones. Boy, does he have an appetite! So, if you are looking for a forever-loyal friend, this is the guy for you. He’s got tons of sloppy kisses he’s ready to give to a forever family he is patiently waiting for.

1/15/03 - Well, I just picked up Max from the vet's office.  He had all his shots and neuter done today.  Poor baby is still out of it.  He slept with his head on my lap the entire way home.  Anyway, the surgery was a little more in detail than we though.  Turns out Max has one descended testicle-a condition calls "crypt."  So they had to go inside more to get to the other one to remove it.  Also, poor baby has tapeworms.  No wonder he's so thin!  He weighs 65 lb..  He has a medication for that & we'll give it to him tomorrow just in case he gets sick, this way he won't throw it up.  He's such a good boy!  So far, so good.  I'll keep you all posted.

1/13/03 - Hi everyone! It’s me, Max! Foster mom and dad finally me a chance on the computer to brag about myself! Boy, life is fun for me here. There are so many toys to choose from, I don’t know what to play with next. My foster sister Sasha is my pal. We get along great. Boy am I going to miss her when I find my forever home! My foster brother Buddy and I don’t have much in common, so we kind of keep our distance. Mom says everyone she talked to says that that’s okay and totally normal. I was relieved to hear that! I overheard mom on the phone the other night bragging about me. She was saying what a good sweet boy I am. She calls me a little powerhouse even though I need to gain some weight. She also said I have a slight jumping habit though. I know I have to work on this, and we are all trying, it’s just that I get so excited to see people I want to give them a big slobbery kiss right on the face! I would never hurt anyone though. Mom always holds my face with her two hands and plants a kiss on my wet nose! This makes me feel good because I know she totally trusts me. Maybe if I go to school, I could really learn a lot. I want to learn, so I know I’ll do well and graduate with honors. I also overheard mom talk about me going to the vet on Wednesday for my checkup, vaccinations, and a neuter. I’m a little scared about this neuter thing, but mom assures me I’ll be just fine. I’ll tell you more about that later. I keep telling mom to put up more handsome pictures of me on my web page, but she said that we have to wait for the film to be developed on a CD. I wish she would get a digital camera already! I want to show off what a beauty I am and what a great time I’m having! Even though I am living the life, I still have this feeling of emptiness. I think it's because I really want a family to call my very own. Could you give that to me? I promise I’ll be your best friend forever. More later. Love, Max

1/10/03 - It has been five days since Max’s arrival. He has adjusted so well to our home and our crazy pooches and cats. He acts as if he has lived here all his life! He and Sasha just play every second they get. Not one single accident in the house. I just can not stress enough how he loves to give kisses, and I swear he tries to hug you too! He eats like a horse, and it almost looks as if he’s gained a much needed pound or two. This powerhouse has definitely got room for a few more. Today he was a little more interested in Big Boy (the cat) than he has been the last day or so. He probably forgot how it felt to get swiped. He is not aggressive with the cats in the least bit, just curious. He still is sleeping well in his crate, but boy does he snore! Max is scheduled for his vaccinations and neuter on Wednesday. I’m sure he will charm everyone in the office, as he is such a handsome and lovable guy.

1/8/3 - Well, it has been two full days since Max's arrival. He is such a nice boy that is just craving attention and love. He loves to give kisses and play, play, play! He settles down, though, when asked to. He even laid down nicely as we ate dinner without being told. Something we are definitely not used to with our resident dogs! As for the cats? The first day in the house, Max was not interested at all. The second day, however, he was very curious. He tried to sniff them a little, but a quick swipe by Big Boy (that's our male cat)put an end to that. He has not bothered with them since. Bedtime he sleeps in his crate. we don't hear a peep out of him all night. this guy will make a very nice addition to a lucky family's home. As you can see by his pictures, he is a handsome guy. I'm sure he'll be with his forever home soon.

1/7/03 - I can't tell you what s sweet boy he is! I just love him, and I think I am going to cry when I say goodbye to him. He was fine through the night. A few whimpers, but slept well. He is now, as I type, having a great time with the other two pooches, but I think he has a crush on Sasha! He runs around next to her giving her kisses on the face. She is funny though; she acts stuck up and tries to prance away with her head held high. He will make a great, loyal pet for a lucky family. He already barks when he hears a noise or someone comes to the door, like he's lived here forever. This foster experience has been really nice. We will definitely do it full time once I'm done teaching for the summer.

1/6/03 - Max has arrived safe and sound. What a good boy! He was a perfect gentleman the entire ride home. He is still in his crate getting used to the surroundings, but I can tell he is very anxious to get out. Buddy and Sasha are just intrigued with him. My heart just melted when I saw him. When I came home, Kevin could not get over "What a good looking dog!" Max is. What a beautiful baby. Also, Jean, thanks for making the trip down to meet me.
I'll keep you all posted how we do through the night tomorrow AM. I'm so nervous-this is my first foster!!! I hope I do everything right.

1/5/03 - Late this afternoon we picked up our overnight guest, Muscular Max, who will
go on his way tomorrow to his temporary foster home with Dina & Kevin, (Sasha's Parents) who have offered to keep him until the weekend when we will move to his foster home in MA.  Thanks so much to for opening your home to Max.
This beautiful white boy, with one blue and one brown eye, is 18 months old and full of energy! His owners were told by their landlord that either the dog had to go or they had to go. Thank heavens that some friends of Boxer Rescue heard about him and now he is safe and sound with BAR.
He is a real sweetheart, and a typical boxer who craves human contact and just loves attention.  He loves to be petted and gives little boxer kisses.  He is also an un-neutered active boy with a very muscular frame (although he is very skinny) who needs lots of  exercise.  He has been as good as gold here in the crate and loves to run in the back yard. Look for more updates soon.
