Pertinent Information 10/24/03 -Nikko is doing great as he always has been since I adopted him. In July I adopted a 12wk old kitten (Tikki) from a shelter and then someone had dropped another 10wk old kitten (Shadow)-identical to Tikki, at my door and they all get along wonderfully. Nikko has made himself their father. Tikki will sit and lick Nikko's chest while he just lays there. If his head is down sleeping, Tikki nuzzles him and Nikko will lift it for him to cuddle there. Then he in return licks him back. They are inseparable. He guards and separates them all when they play together and never once have the cats ever tried to swipe at him, they just stop what they are doing and run for him to chase them. He never gets upset when they are eating out of his bowl or drinking his water. In a household where all my animals are neutered males-they all are great together. He still enjoys his rides and walks and is starting to slim down a little since the vet said he is a little overweight. He does have a tendency to gain weight very quickly but also enjoys his romps to loose a few extra pounds. The only thing I have notice about Nikko is that he does not like to have his nails clipped. He is not at all aggressive, just nervous about it. He loves our home and anyone who comes in it and is more than happy to welcome them with lots of kisses and wiggles. He looks like a cheese doodle when he bends in half. He is great and I still consider myself very very lucky to have him and look forward to many many years with him. My sons still take him for his rides with them, but he loves to come home and settle in with his new friends Tikki and Shadow and of course Felix. Nikko has his own pillow in our living room and does use it quite frequently. Its cute when all of them are on the same pillow together snuggled up sleeping. He does also enjoy his quiet time alone with me in the evenings when the cats are out. He is just the best. 5/27/03 - Nikko is doing great. He is so well behaved and trained that it is such a pleasure. His social life is always busy. Between myself and my 2 sons, he's always going somewhere with one of us. He loves to ride in the car and is excellent. He has made himself "watcher" over my cat Felix. He always lets me know when Felix is at the door to come in, or when he wants to go out. This even means early in the mornings while I'm still sleeping (its so cute). They are so funny to watch, they curl up together and play together all the time. He has been around a 2 year old toddler and was so gentle and careful with her. I was not surprised at this. I have taken him to other peoples homes and he is so good with everyone he meets. We just love him. He has gained quite a bit of weight lately, but now that nice weather is here he will loose it when we are playing in the yard and taking our walks. One thing that I have noticed about him now and it is not unusual, is that he has become protective. Not in an aggressive way, but in a passive way. Playing with his toys with us is one of his favorite pass times. If he wants to play-he will get his toys and bring them right to us to let us know. I could go on and on about him, I think he is wonderful and I can't think what it would be like not to have him with us. He is such a part of our family now. 5/6/03 Nikko is doing great and it feels like he has been with us for years. He is so affectionate and behaves so well it is such a pleasure. If he wants to play, he lets us know, and he is so funny to watch. He does know that my sons play a little rougher with him than I do, but even when he gets fully wound up, as soon as you say sit...he sits...He's never overly rough and seems to be very careful of what he is doing when he is playing, especially with his feet. Still a toy hog though. He loves Felix (my cat). He even wakes me up in the morning to let me know that Felix wants to come in. They have gotten along so well since the first time they met. They even curl up together at night. He seems to have made it his business to help take care of Felix. People love to come over and pet him when we are out and he is just excellent with them. Never jumps. He has been around little children and is just as I expected..great. I could go on and on. I consider myself and my family very lucky to have him, and whoever had him before had done a great job training him and must have been upset to have to give him up...but thanks.. because now I have him in my life. I love looking into those big eyes and seeing how happy he is. 4/5/03 - Nikko is the greatest. We love having him with us. He is so well behaved and such a pleasure to have in our family. He gets along great with my cat Felix (they play all the time). There is nothing that I don't like about him. He is so affectionate and listens so well. He doesn't get into anything he is not suppose to. He looks forward to going for rides with my 2 sons and myself and gets so much attention when we are out. He is so well behaved and a pleasure for us. He made himself right at home the first day and entered into our hearts the minute we met him. I am so lucky to have him and enjoy every minute with him. He is not overly active, but enjoys romping, playing and running around the yard. He is very much a toy hog. Every stuffed animal that comes into the house he thinks is his, he now has quite a collection of them. He even knows how to take them from his basket of toys. He has the trait as so many other boxers do, as having to have something in his mouth when he meets you at the door. It is so adorable. He is truly as happy as we are to have him here with us. Thank you. 2/27/03 - Buster is pending adoption. 2/19/03 - Well, my list of exceptionally good foster boys has added another one. This Buster boy has that wonderful disposition that I keep getting lucky to foster. He is doing quite well in the crate, and only whines a bit when he is in there and you are near him. Once you leave the room, he settles right down. He is definitely house trained. He is eating very well, and tolerates, or should i say ignores, all activity around him. He has no problem with hands around and in his food bowl while he is eating. He doesn't mind being pet while he eats either. He is currently eating 5 cups of Pro Plan, split between 2 feedings, mixed with vanilla yogurt and some turkey cold cuts. He finishes every last piece. As you can see form the pic’s, he is in very nice shape. He is currently sharing the downstairs with a rambunctious little 8-month-old female pug. She is all over him, and in his face, and he is excellent with her. I have not seen anything that I am uncomfortable with. He has met my 3 boxers, and had no issues with them. He loves to give kisses, and loves to give hugs whenever he can. While I sit at the computer table, he comes over and buries his head in my lap. He is such a nice, sweet boy. He is pretty laid back, not high activity, but no couch potato either. I introduced him to some stuffed animal squeaky toys tonight, and he quickly figured them out. He also is a bit of a hog, and is not sharing them; even though he has more then he knows what to do with. Whenever the pug goes to get a toy, he drops the one he has a quickly nudges her out of the way, so she cannot get it. Then, when she heads back to the one he left, he quickly goes back to the other one. Like I said, he is a toy hog. He knows “sit” and “paw”, and does this before I feed him (at my insistence). He does his business quickly when I let him out. Buster needs a heart worm and fecal test, and then he is all done, and ready to go. So, what can I say…..I hope you are the lucky family who has their app in already, because this boy will not be here long. More updates to follow. 2/18/03 - Here is Buster! He is a 3 1/2 yr. old shelter surrender. He seems to be a very sweet boy, and should find a forever home in no time.. He is eating well, does pretty well in the crate, is already neutered,...and as you can see from the pictures, is in pretty good shape. He is sharing the downstairs with a little pug....but that is another story.....and is getting along great with her. She is pretty annoying....but he is tolerating her very well. He is also getting along with my 3 boxers. |
