7/30/05 - Is it a year already??? If we could wish for a perfect dog to everyone that adopts at BAR it would definitely be Chase. We knew how wonderful Chase was the first time we met him at Tina's and knew from the beginning that we wanted to give Chase a new home. We thought it would take some time for Chase to get used to us but it took him no time to get accustomed to his new surroundings and his new schedule (it was almost as if he was with us since birth) and adopting Abby from BAR in February turned out to be the perfect companion for him. Having had several boxers before we can honestly say that Chase is by far the sweetest of them all. He listens to everything you tell him, eats very well and loves sleeping with us in bed at night. Most of all, he loves running in the woods with Abby until they drop from exhaustion. Finding BAR and the wonderful people involved who care so much about our babies has definitely added a new dimension to our lives...we thank you all for that. And most of all, a big thank you from the bottom of our hearts for letting us be a part of this wonderful group and giving us Chase!!!!

1/31/05 - Sorry for the late update but we just got back from Brazil tonight having been away for 10 days. A friend of ours stayed with Chase in our apartment 24/7 while we were gone and Chase was the perfect gentlemen. He cried like a baby when we walked thru the door this evening and was so happy to see us. Chase has been the perfect companion in all ways. He is so low maintenance compared to the other boxers we have had and nothing bothers him. We're hoping to adopt his new sister this weekend and know Chase will be thrilled to have a playmate. Chase loves to play hard running up in the mountains, loves to eat (all the time) and loves to sleep. Most of all he loves being around us as well as our friends and their dogs. We had an oil portrait done of Chase for Christmas and he is now hanging on our living room wall next to Annie and Sophie. Will take a picture of the painting and will send it to you. Thank you again for giving us such a wonderful companion and allowing us to shower him with love.

10/31/04 - Time passes by so quickly , seems like I just sent you a letter. I am doing GREAT (actually even better than great!!!) and love my new home. I am really the luckiest dog in the whole world. I love when family and friends come to visit me so I can lick them all over and lay on their laps. I still love riding in the car and get excited every time my parents reach for the car keys. I am getting dressed up for Halloween tonight and thought I would send you a picture of my costume. Have to run out and play now but will write again soon.

10/3/04 - Wow, I can't believe 2 months have passed already..seems like yesterday I jumped into the car for the ride to my new home. I got to spend a week with my cousin while her parents were away on vacation and we had a blast. We played and ran together all day long and I am enclosing a picture of us taking one of our many naps together. I have grown to like the big city but look forward for every Friday afternoon when we load up the car and head for the hills. I still prefer running loose in the woods and chasing all the wild animals. My parents are very good to me and they kiss and hug on me all the time. I am very seldom alone and they take me with them whenever they can, boy am I spoiled. I love hiking with them in the woods especially now with all the leaves changing. They took a picture of me today which I am attaching to this email as well (I love having my picture taken). Thank you so much Bar for finding me such a wonderful home.

8/29/04 - A month already? I am the luckiest dog in the whole world!!! I think I like being able to run free more in the mountains than being on a leash in the big city. I look forward to Fridays when we take our ride up to the mountains (I love riding in the car)  and I get to spend 3 days running free chasing the chipmunks, squirrels, deer and birds. I have a girlfriend that lives down the road from  us and she always appears at our back door. We run and play together all weekend until we drop from exhaustion (see her picture attached).  I am eating very well and I get treats quit often. I love getting into bed with my parents at night and snuggling with them..I can’t get seem to get close enough to them. I got to meet all the family and friends at a big party and I am attaching my picture as I had to get a little dressed up for the occasion.  I think about all my friends at BAR and hope they all get to find homes as good as the one I found.

8/5/04 - Can’t believe a week has passed – I feel like I’ve been here forever. The hour ride back up to the mountains was exciting and my tail would not stop wagging the entire way up. We got up to the house and my mouth opened at the vast amount of land I had to run and sniff out. The car door opened and out I ran staying close to my new parents but still investigating the surroundings. My new home has so much room that it will take me a while to pick out a favorite place to relax. I have a beautiful bed under the baby grand piano in the living room and I spend a lot of time there sleeping and catching my breath. I have a doggie door at my disposal and am able to go in and out as I please. I was totally exhausted Friday evening and I got into bed with my new parents, rolled over on my back and snored the entire night. I woke up Saturday morning to the sound of 2 dogs from down the road who welcomed me with open arms and we ran and played together all day until I collapsed from exhaustion. I spend a good part of the day laying on a chaise chair by the pool and just looking around taking it all in. I heard my parents reach for the car keys on Monday so I darted outside and sat by the car and to my surprise I was in Manhattan at my second home. So many things to look at and a spiral staircase which took me only 2 days to maneuver all by myself and can now go up and down whenever I want.  It is a little strange having to be on a leash in the big city but I noticed all my other friends are leashed as well. I get to take long walks every day and my favorite is to a big park where I get to see so many other dogs and people. I spend a lot of time looking out the window – there is so much to see. My parents told me we were going back up to the mountains on Friday for the weekend…I am totally overwhelmed. I am the luckiest dog in the world!!!! Will write more at the end of this month – have to go out and play now.    Chase

7/30/04 - Well Chase just went on his merry way home with his new family. He is headed upstate NY to a summer home with 70 acres to run free in (of course not right away) and go hiking with his new parents.

After the weekend he is headed to Manhattan to live with a work at home dad and a back yard to play in...what more could this boy ask for...he will certainly be VERY loved and happy.  Foster mommy will definitely miss you Chasey boy.

7/28/04 - Chase is pending adoption.

7/7/04 - Well it's been a bit and Chase continues to be a terrific dog here in my home. As I have
mentioned many times he is just SUPER with the other dogs in the home...He loves to play with my
Shih Tzu and is so very gentle when he does this....she nips at his jowls and what does he do???
Silly boy lays down as if to say here let me make it easier for you!
There have been no accidents in the home and he is not crated when I go to work and no one is
home.
I would love to see him go to a home with some older kids to play with or take him for a walk and
another dog to play or keep him company would be a definite plus for him.
He does so, so with the cats.  He follows me downstairs to do laundry which is where the cats are.
He doesn't hunt them out but he does run after them...I think with time he would definitely just
ignore them.
This boy is just waiting for his very own home...I LOVE having him here but would love to be able
to save another...so get those apps in and going.

6/24/04 - Well, Chase has been with us for a few days now and I have to tell you he is a WONDERFUL boy! He is fine with the other 4 boxers in the home and the 2 shih tzus...male and females of both. Chase knows how to sit, down, paw, and speak!! Smart guy...his owner was wonderful with him. He is very good in the crate. The only thing I did see is we had a family here doing another adoption and their son, about 7 or 8 yrs old, went over to see Chase and say hello and Chase growled at him and barked once.....Chase was in the crate when he did this so I think he felt a little threatened. However, due to this I will be placing him with older children only, over 10. His owner did say he wasn't very good with young kids.

Chase loves to play and when I get home from work or see him in the morning he just can't walk straight....he is so very happy he kidney beans all the way over to me...such a silly boy. I would like to see Chase in a home with another dog and a fenced yard so he can play and have fun. He should have a great home soon!

6/19/04 - Chase has arrived at the Guardian Angel Boxer Haven for what I feel will be a very short stay.
He is doing terrific with the other dogs in the home, male and female.  Chase does great in his crate at night. No barking and no accidents.  He has a great personality and has been wiggly and happy with everyone he has met so far. I was told by the owner that Chase does not do well with small children....I don't have any but if I get the chance I will test him...otherwise he will not be place in a home with young children...over 10 only.
We will update as time goes on as sometimes the dogs behaviors change over the first 7-10 days.
