1/7/04 - This update has been forthcoming for months....sorry for the delay. Dominic has adapted very
well to the family, house and to the family cat, Rosie. It took a bit of time for the both Rosie and Dominic
to get along, as Dominic thought Rosie was a rodent. Now you can find the two lounging together on a
rug in the sunlight. He loves to go for walks and rides in the car, so we walk him twice a day, once in
the am and again in the evening. The evening walk most times includes the entire family..kids love it.
His appetite is tremendous and can drink quite a bit of water as well. Unfortunately, he also loves the
kitty litter box and all the "goodies" in it (Yuk). He has full run of the house and sometimes can be found
sleeping on the floor in one of the kids rooms or lounging on the couch.
He has a wonderful temperament and loves just to be around people, 24/7. He is extremely perceptive and
quite the guard dog when he needs to. Very vocal when strange noises are detected outside. Loves to run
and play and we find he is as active as our 4 year "spirited" daughter. Between our daughter and Dominic,
we are constantly seeing who can get into more trouble.. For instance, I came home with bags of groceries
and left them for a few minutes in the kitchen on the floor, only to discover later, my full loaf of bread was
now down to half....wrapping and all. Overall, this guy is great big wonderful kid...Many thanks to BAR and
to his foster mom, Sandy. Our family wishes you all best wishes in the New Year.

10/18/04 -It has been a terrific four weeks with Dominic...He has adapted very well to the family and his
surroundings... The cat seems to be warming up to Dominic after a few weeks of being MIA in the house....
The cat now walks up to Dominic and puts her nose right up to Dominic's nose without incident...Mom
walks him in the early am (5:30) and we look for deer and the entire family walks Dominic in the evening
(8:30-9:00pm) with flashlights looking for all the deer behind our house....we all enjoy these family walks....
Dominic is a big eater and will usually consume around 4 cups of dry dog food in one sitting....we are currently
working on off lease commands as well on lease commands. He is very smart and picks up commands pretty
easy.... He even uses one part of the yard for his business after we showed him a few times and placed some of
his droppings there for reference....He has been wonderful with our children ages 3 and 9 as well as all the
neighborhood children who congregate in our yard....he does not dig or jump.....my husband is still amazed at
Dominic's wonderful personality and temperment....and believes we are extremely lucky to have such a fine
addition to our family....Dominic does wonderful in the car and my husband enjoys taking him on his road
trips.....we have taken Dominic hiking with the family and of course he just loves it!! I can't wait to take down
to the beach/ocean just to see how he reacts with the water.....our vet (who is a boxer owner :-) ) absolutely fell
in love with Dominic and said he was in great shape and couldn't believe he was an abandoned dog before BAR...
9/20/04 - Hello everyone.....just wanted to let you all know how I am doing since being adopted yesterday....
The ride home was long, but I handled it like a real trooper....and a few "pitstops" later, I was in my new home.
Plenty of balls and stuff to play with...There's even a duck pond around the corner from my house to explore....
and before I forget...."Thanks to my foster mom Sandy" for all her love and patience and to BAR for all their
support inhelping me find my forever home....Well, gotta go....I got some mischief to get into here..... :0)

9/19/04 - Dominic was adopted today. His new family came this afternoon and picked him up.  They stayed for
a little while. He went for a walk with there son down the road just before they left and he was ready to jump
in the back of their vehicle.  I think they will be very happy.
9/14/04 - Dominic is pending adoption

9/1/04 - Well I thought everyone should know I took Dominic to the Pet Palooza in Norwich. He did wonderful.
He made some new fans. He would have liked to play with everybody or anybody there. He road well also, it
was a bit over an hour ride there. I can't believe he is still here, he is such a good boy. He has been having fun
with our returning beagle. He can't understand why he can't sleep with me and Tony can. He tries though. He is
very funny at times. He tries to ignore you when he wants to do something and when you are persistent its almost
like he figures oh well I guess she isn't going to give up so I might as well give in. He gives you that mush face
then his paw. He eats right next to Tony and they have no problems. He would like to know where that forever
home is. He wants to get settled in and fulfill your lives. yeah he really said that.
8/21/04 - Well I have to say Dominic is doing tremendously. He is still gaining weight. He has just started
to play with Tony. He is very playful and now sometimes brings his toys to you to throw. He has a lot of
energy and acts like hes a puppy. When you tell him no for something he sits and gives you his paw with
these big sad eyes staring at you. He runs and plays with my 5 year old grandson. Right now he is laying
on the floor next to me with a toy in his mouth ready to go play. I will try to get some new pictures of him on
the site soon. You won't believe the difference. He also loves attention. He will stand next to you as long as
you want to pet him.
7/25/04 - Dominick has had an eventful week.  He decided that the skunk that entered our yard was a toy.
Boy o Boy did he stink.  I used the peroxide bath mixture, then tomato Juice and the next day a scope bath.
It all worked.  He also went to the vet for a booster rabies shot.  He has gained 5 lbs. and the vet things he
is at the correct weight. He is looking good. At this moment he is sprawled out on the carpet dozing away.
He kissed my granddaughter goodbye today.  He loves everybody.
7/18/04 - I thought I would write this update on myself. I am having a ball (hee hee) I love playing with
every ball I can find. Its is so good to be able to eat and drink and feel good. I can run and run
and play and I can sleep whenever I want. They say I will get my own forever home and if its like
this I can't wait. I will love my new family unconditionally. I hope there are children to play
with who will toss the ball and play tug-o-war. I am gaining weight too. I go back to see that
nice Dr. this week and I know he will give me a clean bill of health because I feel great. Hurry and
get your applications in. I want to come home with you.
7/10/04 - Just thought I would give a quick update on Dominick. He is doing great. He seems to be
a typical boxer full of curiosity. He walks around the house with a ball or squeaky toy most of the
time or lays and chews on them. Outside he runs and runs. We found he will take things off the coffee
table if you are not looking and chocolate was his choice yesterday package and all. SO ding dongs
are put up. Health wise he appears to be doing very well, he eats without problems and chews on
very hard balls without any trouble at all. He will follow you around the house and if you are a
man he will be stuck to you. He is gentle with women and rougher playing with men. My 5 year old
grandson has a ball with him just tossing the ball around. He does not growl or get aggressive
with the toys or food. He will snitch what he can though. The other night one of the guys put his
favorite ball under his t-shirt watching him try to pull it away was hysterical. He can be very
comical.
7/2/04 - I can't believe the difference in Dominic. You can tell he is feeling so much better. He is
having a ball. He is the first in line for petting and attention and also for food. He takes his
medicine without any problems. He gobbles it right up. He is is almost done with his amoxicilan and
is starting to put weight on. He loves to run and play outside. His favorite toys are the various
size balls. He is the perfect first foster for us. He has had no accidents in the house and he
will sleep in his crate or with you or anywhere. He is eating well. Everyone that comes to visit
falls in love with him. All my sons friends say they wish they had a dog like him. He is quickly
becoming a member of the family and I am sure can't wait to find his forever home. Also I had my
five year old grandson here and they had a ball together. He is going to make a great addition to
someone's home.

6/24/04 - Today Dominic got to visit the vet. He behaved very well. He has some worm problems and I am sure we will have it cleared up in no time. He has a small lump that should be removed on his right front inside leg. He will also need some gum surgery. He is settling down and fitting right in here. He is getting more affectionate. He loves toys. He is always checking out the toy box and picking something out and then he carries it around for a while. He will chase anything you throw but doesn't usually bring it back.
He and Tony are doing well together. Children under 5 don't seem to bother him but he would walk over them. I don't have any cats but he showed an interest at the vets. He may be partial to men. He likes Ron a lot and will follow him anywhere. Right now he and Tony are laying down next to the desk and seems content. He's a good boy and has not had any accidents in the house. He rides well in the car and will even lay down in the back seat. Does not appear to have any food aggression but with his toys he doesn't want Tony near them. We can take them right out of his mouth without a problem. In the halter he walks much better on the leash. He knows some commands like sit and he volunteers his paw. Will update again soon. He's a real looker too.

6/19/04 - Dominic has arrived. He rode well in the crate in the car.  He was very anxious to get in the house and ran all over the place.  We took him for a walk in the fenced in back yard and he loved being outside.  He sniffed Tony thru the gate. Doesn't appear to be a problem.  Later last night we took him for a walk with Tony in the yard on leashes.  Dominic tries jumping Tony but no growling.  He would not eat last night but did drink a lot of water and he had a bath first thing. He smells so much better.  He barked a bit in the crate at first, but I told him no a few times and finally used the change can and it worked great.  He slept all night without a problem and no accidents in the house so far. He ate very well this morning and went outside.  I took him out on the leash and Tony went out loose and he tried to play with Dominic and Dominic seemed receptive.   We went out again a little while ago and I let them run together.  No problem.  Dominic loves toys. He won't share though.  He does need some training I think. He doesn't walk well on the leash and doesn't come when called outside.  We put him in a harness today and it worked better.  Dominic would run with a ball or toy and not let Tony have it or play tug o war.  He is marking the yard everywhere he goes.  He is good with my granddaughter who is 14 months old.   He does get very excited to go outside and did knock her over once but otherwise he just wants to be with people.  I think he will be a great addition to any family with a little training. I will try to get some pictures of him within a few days. He is thin but I am sure he won't be for long.
