Pertinent Information 1/23/05 - Hi Everyone! Just wanted to give a
quick update on our girl Jessie. She has been wonderful. Every now
and then she shows some separation issues while we are at work and
will chew up some paper towels. Other than that she has been fine
and has been able to have free roam of the house. She just adores
our 16 month old daughter. They can spend hours playing with one
another. We want to adopt another Boxer in the near future so that
Jessie can have a playmate. She just loves other dogs. 11/19/04 - Well in 4 days we will have had Jessie with us for 2 months. She is so wonderful. We took her to the vet last week for a check up and she weighs over 50 pounds now. The vet said that she is in perfect form. She's really come a long way from her pics when she first came into BAR. I think it's safe to say that Jessie feels right at home here. She greets everyone and animal like she's known them for years! Hopefully we will be able to adopt a friend for Jessie soon. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! We sure will. 10/19/04 - It's hard to believe that Jessie has been with us for just about a month already. She has to be the most playful and obedient dog! Jessie just loves to play. Especially with my one year old daughter. She is so gentle with her. We've all grown really attached to our Jessie. Thanks again BAR for giving us the opportunity to be Jessie's forever home. 9/30/04 - Hi Everyone! Well...it's been a week since we brought Jessie and I can't even begin to tell you how lucky our family was to have her. Jessie has not been crated and she does just fine. She has to be one of the most obedient and playful dogs that I have ever met. Jessie really brings alot of joy to us (especially my daughter Ella) Thanks again BAR. 9/24/04 - Jessie arrived at our home yesterday afternoon. I am so glad that we decided to adopt her because she truly is perfect!!! She and my one year old daughter hit it off right away. Jessie ate a full dinner and breakfast this morning. She seems to be settling in nicely. Thank you BAR for this wonderful dog!! 9/23/04 - Jessie left a few minutes ago with her new owner, Tom, who happened to be in the area on business today. He was so happy to meet her, and she seemed to like him a lot, too. Oh, how I will miss this very special girl!! I look forward to hearing all about how she is doing in her new home, and he promised to e-mail pictures soon. I will forward them along when he does. Kathy 9/22/04 - Jessie is pending adoption 9/15/04 - Jessie went to the vet's today, and was an angel. I was so impressed with how well she behaved, especially since it was crowded and we had a bit of a wait. I was able to hold onto both her and Sophie, all the while trying to keep my two year old daughter happy...no mean feat and Jessie cooperated beautifully. She and Sophie have been waking up with "crusty" and itchy eyes, and as it turns out, they have conjunctivitis. I am treating it with an eye ointment 3 times per day, and she is tolerating this remarkably well...maybe because she knows she will get a piece of cheese for sitting pretty while I do it! In other news, the other day I took Jessie to my neighbor's house to see how she would like the resident cats. Jessie was curious about them, and sniffed at them, but showed no aggression whatsoever. And once she was done sniffing, she just left them alone. She is definitely more interested in playing with another dog or with her human. Jessie also met my other neighbor's Golden Retriever, Ginger, and did well. She wanted to play with Ginger right away, but didn't seem to realize not all dogs like to play by boxing with their paws! After she calmed down, she was content to leave the boxing for Sophie and just sniffed at Ginger. She does well in just about any situation, and is really eager to please. She is such a love, who just loves everyone. Won't you consider her for your new loving companion? 9/9/04 - Jessie has worked her way into my heart very quickly, as she is such a sweet girl who just lives for love and affection. She gets so excited when I come home, she wiggles and literally leaps into the air twisting and wiggling all the while. While very flattering, I think she needs some practice keeping "all four on the floor!" And while she does not tend to jump up on my daughters, she kind of plows into them with kisses. She also has a habit of play-biting, which I am trying to work on. It seems to me she acts like a much younger puppy than she is, I am guessing because she was never properly taught how to behave when she was a baby. But, oh how she just wants you to love her, and play with her. I know that she will make a wonderful pet with a little patience and training. I am trying to fatten her up as best as I can, since she came into rescue so thin. She did gain 5-10 pounds at her previous foster home, and she could probably stand to gain at least another 10. I have been feeding her three times a day, with lots of biscuits and treats in between, and have also been adding Nutri-Cal (high calorie supplement) to her food. She is enjoying her food, and really enjoys her peanut butter filled Kong when she is in her crate. Speaking of which, I have not been crating her at night, and she does great. No problems, no accidents. I do crate her while I take my daughter to school or run errands, as she can be a little mischievous when left alone. (Again, I think she is just being a puppy.) But in all, she is a great houseguest, very sweet and lovable. Her adorable face could melt anyone's heart. She is waiting to melt yours! 9/7/04 - Jessie arrived at my home yesterday, and she is the sweetest little girl. She is full of puppy energy and loves to play, play, play! She and my 13 month old Boxer, Sophie, hit it off right away, and have been running and playing like old friends. Jessie is a big kisser, and seems to just love being near her humans. She enjoys giving kisses to my daughters, ages 4 and 2. She is very athletic. I cannot believe how high she jumps into the air. She reminds me of a deer! When she finally lays down to rest, she seems to love cuddling up, and is just so cute all curled up asleep. She has so much love to give to someone special. Could that someone be you? 9/5/04 - Jessie has done very well over the
past few days. She has completely transitioned to dry food and eats
like a horse. Her favorite special treat is sliced turkey from the
deli. She gets this when we practice walking on the leash or when she
follows all her commands. Jessie has been doing most of her business
outdoors and loves to play in the yard. She takes a special liking to
the sticks in the bushes. She always seems to find one to chew on. Her
experience here has been great and we love spending time with her and
seeing her progress. When she arrived she was so thin and timid. Now
she is full of life and has gained between 5 and 10 pounds which she
really needed. Jessie will make any family a great dog, but she does
require lots of love and attention. If you have love to 8/27/04 - WELL, WE HAVE HAD JESSIE ABOUT A MONTH SO I GUESS IT IS TIME TO SAY SHE IS ABOUT 1 YEAR OLD. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESSIE. SHE HAS BEEN DOING FINE IN OUR HOME WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE ADJUSTMENT PERIOD SHE NEEDED HAVING COOPER IN THE HOUSE AS WELL. SHE IS STILL LOVING MUGGS AND THEY PLAY TOGETHER ALL DAY. SHE HAS TAKENA SPECIAL LIKING TO ALL THE TOYS IN THE HOUSE. YESTERDAY, I BROUGHT HOME A BAG OF NEW TOYS FOR THE THREE OF THEM AND JESSIE AND MUGGS WENT RIGHT TO IT. SHE LIKED A PURPLE DOLL WITH A SQUEAKER IN IT THE BEST. THIS TIME I BOUGHT TWO OF EVERYTHING SO BOTH HER AND MUGGS COULD PLAY AT THE SAME TIME WITH NO ARGUMENTS. SHE IS DOING MCH BETTER ON THE LEASH AND HAS LEARNED OUR ROUTE PRETTY WELL. SHE KNOWS EXACTLY WHERE THE HOUSE IS AND GETS EXCITED WHEN SHE APPROACHES. JESSIE IS AWAITING HER NEW HOME AND WE KNOW YOU'LL LOVE HAVING HER AROUND. SO CONSIDER JESSIE FOR A FUZZY EDITION TO YOUR HOME! 8/23/04 - Jessie spent the weekend on the Delaware with her foster daddy while Muggs and I tended to Cooper after his surgery. Here is what we heard from dad about Jessie's weekend. He says that she was very well behaved and enjoyed the alone time she got with dad. She had all the attention for three days and was eating it up. She walked with dad every morning to get the paper and coffee and she even hung out in near the river while daddy fished. She slept out of the crate in bed with dad and loved it. There are no accidents to report and she played with the other two boxers on the block like a perfect lady. Nice job Jessie! Maybe a weekend away was good for her. She has come home and has adjusted to our regular routine again just fine. 8/18/04 - Jessie has had some adjusting to do
this week with the addition of another puppy in the house. She has
done well, but is a little rough, she doesn't realize how much smaller
Cooper is. Jessie and Muggs continue to play daily and enjoy each
others company. Jessie's accidents in the house have occurred again
today so will still need to get her out the door a few extra times.
She is eating very well and has even begun eating some dry food alone.
I would guess she has gained about 5 pounds, which she really needed.
She has gotten used to the crate and doesn't cry anymore. Jessie has
given all of us her something to smile about, but we want to share her
with you. Please consider Jessie for your loving home, she will love
you right back! 8/10/04 - Jessie had a wonderful day today. No accidents in the house. Yeah! She spent the morning horsing around with her temporary brother Muggs and boy do they play. After our morning fun in the yard she came in and devoured her breakfast. She is eating a mix of dry and wet food to try and help her put on a few pounds. She is lucky, most women have the opposite problem. Jessie was quite the little lady while I mopped the floor. I think she is afraid of the mop, but I won't tell. She has taken very well to our neighbors three children. She chased their 7 year old in the yard today for a while. It was supposed to be a game of fetch, but it turned out a little different then we planned. To sum it up, Jessie loves activity. She loves any kind of attention, hugs, kisses, fetch or chase the 7 year old. Jessie has also allowed me to clean her ears, clip her nails and bathe her this week. It was Jessie's "spa afternoon." She is a wonderful dog who will do well in any family that can keep up with her. I know how happy she has made us and it will be hard to say good-bye, but I know her place is not here...it is with her forever parents who are out there. 8/7/04 - Jessie is quite a little character. She is to say the least, a puppy, in every sense of the word. She loves to play with all the toys around the house and loves the balls. She runs around like crazy in the the yard and plays hid and seek with Muggs. She is eating very well, usually four times a day to try and gain a little weight before she leaves us. She has accidents very rarely and when she does, she knows she made a mistake. We are working on getting her leash trained and she is doing great with sit and lay down. We think that she is just a wonderful girl with so much love to give. She will make any active family a great dog! 7/22/04 - Jessie has been fitting in quite well here at our house. She has meshed well with Muggs and Annie will tolerate her. Annie seems a bit jealous of another girl in the house, but she will be off to her forever home on Saturday. Jessie loves to play outside and loves to run. She has been bouncing around the yard for 3 days now. She enjoys all of her toys and has even started to enjoy treats. We are having some difficulty with her bathroom habits. She has had a few accidents in the house over the past day or two. 2 poops and 1 pee accident to be exact. I'm not sure why though because she does her business as soon as we go out and continues on the walk nicely. She has done it in areas of the house where we would not notice them immediately either. She pooped under the dining room table, a room that we rarely use. Muggs found the poop and started barking at it. Jessie is easily disciplined and definitely fears a loud male voice so she is definitely trainable. We'll just have to work on the accidents and possibly taking her out a few extra times a day till she gets situated! for tug o' war. Everyday, I find new reason to praise her. Who wouldn't be happy with her? 7/21/04 - Well, we are on our second full day of having Jessie with us. Jessie is a very playful 11 month old as you would expect. She and my 8 month old boxer boy have been playing tug-o-war with the toys and have even tuckered themselves out a few times in the yard. She is eating about 3 times a day in very small portions. She is not fond of the dry food alone, but with a little something else in it she loves it. We have come to love Jessie already even though she is a handful. Jessie is still not very coordinated and seems to knock over a lot of things. She is having a hard time getting her bearings on stairs. Her legs are very long and she hasn't grown into them yet! No accidents in the house so far, she does her business as soon as she is out the door...no grass needed. Jessie is still very timid with load sound as and new guests. I hope her adjustment to her new life will be swift and successful. 7/19/04 - JESSIE ARRIVED YESTERDAY AND HAS DONE VERY WELL. SHE IS EXTREMELY THIN AND NEEDS TO GAIN A FEW POUNDS WHICH WE WILL WORK ON. SANDY SEEMS SHY AT THIS POINT, BUT IS VERY AFFECTIONATE. SHE HAS SOME MISCHIEF IN HER THOUGH AS WE HAVE FOUND HER CHEWING ON OBJECTS OTHER THAN HER TOYS. SHE SPENT THE NIGHT IN THE CRATE WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT AND DOES HER BUSINESS AS SOON AS SHE GOES OUTSIDE. THE OTHER TWO DOGS ARE CURIOUS ABOUT HER, BUT THEY HAVE NOT MET EACH OTHER YET, EXCEPT FOR A FEW SNIFFS WHILE SANDY WAS CRATED OR BEHIND THE GATE.
