Pertinent Information 10/6/04 - Kona, now Pinky (she is too pretty to be a Kona;) Is doing awesome! She adapted to the family as if she knew she was meant to be part of the family! She comes complete with a new name (Pinky), a hot pink collar, hot pink leash, & hot pink nail pawlish:)I took about 100+ pictures of her on my digital camera that was stolen this week! I will forward more pictures when I get hard copies. A note to all boxer lovers/owners...If you have problems finding the perfect indestructible toy, try a racquet ball. This simple toy keeps Pinky busy for hours! Thank you to everyone at BAR:) Holly 9/3/04 - She left just a little while ago with her new family, and I am sure she will be very loved and spoiled. We look forward to hearing all about her progress at her new home! 8/31/04 - Kona is showing more of her sweet personality each day she is here with us. She and Sophie are great friends, always playing! I have nicknamed them "The Boxer Twins." She is gentle with my daughters, even when they hug her tightly around the neck or grab a toy from her. She loves to play tug-of-war and will bring a toy back to you after you throw it (unlike Sophie, who loves to play keep-away). She is so well behaved, and has never touched anything that does not belong to her. I have not crated her at all since the first night she was here. There really is no need to. Her owner had mentioned that she is afraid of thunder, and although we recently had a brief thunder storm, she seemed OK. But as a general rule, I have noticed that she is not fond of loud or sudden noises, and will quickly run to my side as if for reassurance. My husband, who is a drummer, went down to the basement to practice last night, and Kona was very upset. It had not occurred to me until that moment that Steve had not played his drums since Kona's arrival. She paced back and forth, and was quite nervous about the noise. She was not appeased by coming upstairs, although it is not quite as noisy up here, and instead felt better going into the backyard. But it began to rain, and she had to come back in...so that ended Steve's rehearsal for the night! It took her a little while to calm back down, but once she did, she was back to her happy self. Oh, and have I mentioned what a great appetite she has? She loves her food, and has licked her bowl clean at every feeding. Her weight seems good, and she is certainly getting plenty of exercise. We are enjoying every minute of having her here with us, and I will certainly miss her when she is gone. She is patiently waiting for her forever home, and will be sure to bring a lot of joy to that very lucky family. 8/26/04 - I had the chance to walk Kona yesterday, and was oh-so pleasantly surprised! She did not pull at all on the leash, and stayed right by my side. She is so well behaved. She knows all her basic commands, and always tries her best to please. She and Sophie have been having so much fun running and playing. They wear themselves out! Kona's favorite toys are the stuffed ones. She enjoys playing tug-of-war with them, tossing them around, and then (her favorite part) tearing the fluff out. She is systematically destroying all of Sophie's stuffed toys...looks like I'll be off to the Petco soon to restock! Kona is such a joy to have around. Better get your applications in soon...I have a feeling she's not going to be here long!! 8/23/04 - Kona continues to do well here. Today I had to take my younger daughter to the doctor, and Kona did not want to go in the crate, so I decided use the baby-gates instead...She did not touch a thing while I was gone. She is such a good girl! She seems to be getting more comfortable here, and more affectionate, too. She gives the sweetest little tiny kisses! And she thinks she is a lap dog. She plops herself down right on my lap whenever she can, sprawling across me and waiting for a belly rub! She is already working her way into our hearts. I can't say enough good things about her, she is just a really great girl! 8/22/04 - Kona had a good night last night. She and Sophie ran and played late into the night, but she settled down qucikly when I put her in her crate for the night. Not a peep! She did wake up at 4:00 am, however, and whined to go out. After I let her out, she went right back into the crate, though she did whine for about 1 or 2 minutes, then settled back down for the rest of the night. Kona has been very sweet to everyone she has met, adults and children. It is clear that she loves attention, and she will follow me around everywhere. Oh, and she is just beautiful! She will make a great addition to a very lucky family! 8/21/04 - Kona arrived at my home today, and settled right in. She met my daughters, ages 4 and 2, and gave them kisses right away. After spending some time meeting between the baby gates, she and my Boxer Sophie had some supervised playtime outside. They loved playing together in the yard. They ran and ran for over an hour! Kona appears to be housetrained, as she whined at the back door to go out, and then got right down to business once outside. She found the toy basket and already removed the squeaker from Sophie's stuffed burger toy (as well as the stuffing!) So far, she seems sweet as can be! |
