6/27/05 - We've almost had Ozzie for a year now. She is doing great. Still as goofy as a little puppy. Only now she is quite large, and can easily knock objects, or small people over if they aren't paying attention to her playing. She is doing better with quickly returning when called if she is off leash. She never goes far and always wants to play, even in this heat. Now she is finally returning when called. She had a nice bath yesterday, but I don't think she thought it was nice. She would rather swim in the pond or ocean. I have some pictures of her up at www.fotki.com/miss-ozzies-dad/ with more to soon follow.

1/23/05 - Ozzie keeps putting a smile on my face every day. We just got hit with a huge snowstorm, and the snow is over her back, yet she still wants to run around the hill bouncing her way through the snow.
She doesn't seem to feel the cold at ALL!! She also keeps surprising me with just how amazingly
smart she is, she can open her crate from the outside (because sometimes she hides treats in there
and wants them later) and then the other day she unscrewed my bottle of coke and drank some. Somehow she got it off the counter, and unscrewed the cap, because it was not broken at all, and none was spilled!! She is too funny. And a complete snugglebug. But as I mentioned earlier she doesn't seem
to feel the cold at all, and has found my weakness, her whine! So when she wants to go back out
she knows to whine and I'll take her out (I don't like THIS level of cold). She is so goofy, and yet
smart, and a huge cuddlebug, and has become the center of the family!

10/24/04 - Ozzie and I just completed our basic training the other night. We passed with flying colors. Of course we still have a lot of training to do, especially with listening to commands outside. She is as adorable as ever. Even when she gets up to mischief. We still have the baby gates up to keep her downstairs, but she regularly gets right by them. She doesn't like to be left alone for more than 10 minutes if she knows I'm in the house. Simply put she's amazing!

10/5/04 - Ozzie is doing great! She is becoming a big enough girl as she now weighs in just under 50 pounds. The vet initially thought that she would not reach 40 pounds. Her obedience training is going great. She is the smartest dog in the whole class. As well as the strongest, and most adorable. She is getting really fast, and loving to explore the woods. She also LOVES the water. She is turning into a big swimmer and is super playful. She'll be at the MSPCA walk in Boston in 2 weeks.

8/4/04 - Ozzie was as good as gold on the long ride home. She sat curled up next to my sister the whole ride back, sleeping almost the entire way. She has made great friends with her big sister, a large black lab irish setter mix who is 8 years old. But they both play like two little puppies. Ozzie is now a little over 32 pounds! She was great at her first vet visit a the vet absolutely loved her. She is going in this Monday to be spade, so I am a bit nervous, but the vet is really great. We are all absolutely in love with her. She is such a cuddle-bug and has fit in with the family so well its as if she has always been here. She has a lot of space to run around here, and I think she loves it because she is so fast and agile. I just hope she loves being here as much as we love having her here.

7/9/04 - Miss Ozzie has been adopted.
Miss Ozzie just left for her forever home.  Rod brought his mom & sister to pick her up (5 hour ride each way).  A special thanks to Jean, Tina, Pat & team for sifting through all of the applications to find just the right home for her.  Ozzie is going to be a very happy girl when she finds out she has a big fur sister & has a huge yard to play in!  I don't doubt for a minute that she will be very pampered by her new family!

7/7/04 - Miss Ozzie is pending adoption

7/1/04 - Ozzie is growing by leaps & bounds & is almost as big as our 30lb fox terrier/mix now! She now
finds it difficult to fit into one of her favorite hidding places - the end table near the couch.

She's pretty much housetrained if we leave her access to the outside. We have been leaving the
back door to the garage open so she just goes through the garage to the doggie door when she has to
go out.

Now that she has access to the garage - she also has access to our "play & outside" shoes - so
Ozzie is currently practicing on her own free will to become a certified shoe retriever. She
practices fetching our shoes & bringing them into the house several times a day. She seems to have caught
on, as our shoes only seem to be coming into the house & not going out to the doggie pen in the
mud any more. She typically just drops them once she's near us - and hasn't been destructive - guess
she just loves the smell of our feet (yuck!). Aren't you looking for a pup like Ozzie to bring you
your shoes?

6/20/04 - Miss Ozzie went to the vet yesterday. Her weight has almost doubled in four weeks. She now weighs over 15 pounds!  She's progressing very well in the housebreaking department & now goes to the back door when she needs to go out. She's also learned how to sit & come (at least when she's not too distracted). She has learned her name, however, my husband & I agree the name Gabby would be much more suitable for her - as she is a very happy pup & likes to express herself. When we get up in the morning & pick her up she makes little baby grunting noises, when she plays with the other dogs she likes to "talk" to them & when she's really excited she tends to bark up a storm.
Like a typical boxer, Ozzie is extremely social & enjoys being around other dogs & people. When she's not with one of the resident dogs it's a safe bet that she is within a few feet of Kevin or myself - one of her favorite places to fall asleep is under whatever chair we happen to be sitting in.

6/13/04 - Miss Ozzie continues to have lots of fun. She has learned that she can fit under furniture - chairs, tables, beds are great to take naps under - or if she's taken a favorite toy of another dog &
simply wants a safe place to hide. She's seems very smart for such a young girl. When she's hungry she'll run to where we keep the food or to the place that we feed her. She picked up how to use the outside doggie door in the garage right away - even though it was built for Newfoundlands & is very heavy for a young pup. Today she spent a good part of the morning with Chloe outside while I gardened. After a good game of tag & using up some of that excess puppy energy (she's got a lot of it!!!) Ozzie enjoyed napping out on the doggie deck, under the pine trees.

6/8/04 - Miss Ozzie has obviously inherited the boxer genetics that make her a comedian & constant entertainer. Tonight I was watering the plants (she loves to help) when she decided it would be good to get in under the watering can & try to drink, then jump up & catch the water as it came out of the can. She leaped & jumped in the air & twisting & turning & having a grand time.  When we went to put water in the dogs water bowl outside she ended up in the dish & loved every second of it. I'm really glad she contains this form of entertainment to outside because she was soaking wet by the time she was done playing! If you're a family that likes water & fun Ozzie could be the right girl
for you.

6/5/04 - The difference between 9 weeks & 10 weeks in Ozzie is amazing. Until a couple of days ago she would never wander more than a few feet from us & we could catch up with her quickly.  I guess it's
like having a toddler around.  She now sprints from place to place & has no hesitation about leaving our side. Fortunately she will usually come right back when we call her.
We've started letting her out to play with the big dogs in the pen (between 1/3 - 1/2 acre). She goes to the far side to do her business. She's very lady like about it & likes to make sure she leaves her deposits where no one will step in them!
The puppy she is, she tends to be somewhat vocal about what she wants, whether it's out of her crate or to get one of the other dogs to play with her. Fortunately, she settles down after a few minutes in the crate.
Ozzie will make a wonderful addition to a home that's looking for a lively new companion! She loves everyone & can't wait to go to her forever home.

6/1/04 - Miss Ozzie is doing wonderful. She adores Chloe our fox terrier/hound mix and they manage to keep each other entertained most of the time - but not completely out of trouble. She is a very curious
and can make a toy out of anything - from a tiny stone to a leaf can be great fun!  Ozzie now makes through the night in her crate without a complaint & we usually find her in the morning curled up to her hedgehog. She will definitely make someone very happy one day soon!

5/29/04 - Ozzie is a typical puppy.  She's into everything & needs to be constantly watched. She loves to play with all of the other dogs and loves to go outside to play with our 12 year twins & all of their friends. In the neighborhood she's developed quite a fan club, adults and kids alike coming to see her. Today she went & visited my dad in the Rehab/Nursing home/center. She was so tired from playing all day she slept on his lap the whole time we visited.  She will make a great addition to any family that has the time & patience to train a young puppy.
