Pertinent Information 11/16/04 - Hi, Lacy is doing fine here no the
farm. She is very good and stays with me and comes back when I call her.
That is just what I wanted. She loves to snuggle no the couch at
night, and sleeps next to my side of the bed at night. 2/4/04 - Sorry I am very late with my up date. We are having some problems with our 10 year old and Lacy. We are trying several things to work this out. We are very attached to both of these girls. Lacy is my companion as I work on the farm and she is a joy. She is very smart. I will let you know how we are doing. Laura 10/2/03 - Hi, What a change in a month. We have all the dogs playing and no fighting. Lacy is a joy to have and I am so happy with her. She is such a puppy in her play and actions. I'm so happy I over looked her color (white). We do LOVE this dog. I think I have over looked thanking James and Diana for being so wonderful to us and for letting us adopt their Anna our Lacy. I am greateful to all at BAR I don't know how you do what you do but I am glad you do it. Many thanks to all of you. Harry, Laura and Lacy 9/10/03 - Hi, Sorry for the delay I wanted to attend two of our classes so I could let you know how we're doing. Lacy is very smart and eager to learn. I'm not sure I picked the right class for us to attend but we are learning. Does anyone know about clicker training? Lacy and I are doing fine, but I'm not sure about the method of clicker training. We still have some trouble with fighting about once a week. Lacy is a great dog when she is good and we love her. She is off lead at home and is helping me with the horses. She has learned not to chase them as she did in the beginning. Play time has also improved and we will continue to work on making the rest of our training successful. I would like to continue training with Lacy and would appreciate any suggestions as to training methods. 8/4/03 - Hi, Anna is truly a loving boxer. She is sitting at my feet as I type this letter. Our journey is just starting so we have had some bumps in the road but I'm sure they will even out. Our other two dogs (Brandy 9 & Cutty 5) have had to make some adjustments but in time we will have normal again. Play time is a bit of a challenge, as soon as one snaps we have a problem. I am looking into a trainer to help me deal with this. If anyone has a suggestion I would appreciate it. Anna who we have named Lacy has a job to go to every day. She helps me on our horse farm so we do a lot of walking. She is faster than I am but that's how she gets her exercise coming back to me and running off again. The horses don't think she is so great because she still tries to chase them. Her color (white) was very odd to them, especially the white horses. ??? You never know what will set them off. Everyday is something new. I am looking forward to obedience classes with her. I am possibly taking a class with another boxer owner I have found in the area. We are looking into schools in our area. Well it's almost time to feed the horses so Lacy and I will be signing off for now , next time she'll do the typing. Take care, I hope to hear from you. Laura and Lacy 7/1/03 - Anna has been adopted. 6/30/03 - Anna is pending adoption. 6/21/03 - GREETINGS FROM BOXER MOUNTAIN!!! Anna continues to do well here on the mountain.....so long as we keep her seperated from our Rottie Matilda. She absolutely adores any attention she get's from humans......whether they be adult or children. We do have two small dogs in our crew......a Boston and a Cocker Spaniel. And to Anna they are just almost totally non-existent! No problems what-so-ever. Seems like she could play forever with our two year old Dobie in our fenced-in yard. She loves to run! Lately we've been doing quite a bit of babysitting for our two youngest grandsons.....ages 6 and 8......and Anna is just crazy about them. We've actually had several sunny days here. So I've been able to get outside and do some work on a vehicle I have in the driveway. Anna has been staying out with me the entire time..OFF LEASH!! And she never goes more than ten feet away. She's like my shadow. I only have to tell her "come" once and she is right there! She actually listens better off leash than on leash. This is how Anna acts here on the mountain. Hopefully this is the way she will act when she goes to her Forever Home, too. Anna has tons of love to give!! And wants to give it!! She just needs the right Forever Home....Could that possibly be YOU?? Don't wait too long. Put in your application now......or she will be adopted. 6/10/03 - We've had Anna now for about three and
a half months. She really is a great Boxer Girl! We have six other dogs.
And....unfortunately....our six year old Rottie Girl and Anna just cannot
get along. So before somebody really gets hurt here.....we are going to
get Anna a new Forever Home. She really does get along fine with our other
dogs and our cats. 5/23/03 - Sorry for the long delay with our update on Anna. We've been kind of busy with all our Fosters and updates on them. Anyway......Anna has really settled in here with us and the rest of the herd. She's an extremely loving Boxer Girl!!... a little too possesive of her people at times though. She wants all the attention all the time. Anna is learning how to play better with our other dogs. She didn't really know how to play when she first got here. I have two classes left with Anna in her obedience class...in which we have not really done well. She barks constantly at the other dogs. She doesn't want to be aggressive.....her tail is continuously going...it's more a nervous reaction. I've tried her with the haltie collar......sometimes I think it's a good thing and sometimes it's not. She just hates it!! We're certainly not going to give up on Anna's training even if we have to have some privately done. Anna loves people, kids, cats.....but she has this one little problem as far as training goes...the barking at the other dogs. Oh....and I DO have somewhat of a problem getting out of the house without her! We actually have to crate her to make our escape! Anna has been spayed and her recovery went very well. She likes having her nails clipped. She's very good in the car.......she never barks. AND SHE'S JUST SOOOOOO PRETTY!! We love her!! 3/10/03 - Anna continues to do well here on Boxer Mountain. She has had some weewee accidents due to her urinary tract infection. But there's no urgency like in the beginning. Anna still has an interest in our cats but we don't believe she wants to hurt them......just wants to check them out. Anna came into heat three days ago. So that puts her spaying off for at least five weeks.... A minimum of three weeks in heat and then a week to ten days to let things calm down internally. She loves playing with our little Boston Terrier Tipper! It's SO funny! Tipper does get tired of that heavy paw on his head after a while though. Anna is the only one of our crew who will play with him. Anna will be getting a bath tomorrow. We're sure she'll love that. Just noticed today that when you look at Anna's nose....she has black fur down to her upper lip which looks like she has a "Hitler Mustach" with some pink on the sides! But she's just sssooooooo pretty! 3/8/03 - Anna is pending adoption. 3/5/03 - We had Anna to the Vet yesterday. She weighed in at 65 pounds......I was 5 pounds low on my guestimate of her weight. Anna is heartworm negative and up to date on all her shots. She has quite a serious urinary tract infection and she's being treated with antibiotics. Her ears are extremely dirty and very sensitive to touch. The Vet techs could not make any headway with cleaning them. Anna is scheduled to be spayed on Friday, the 14th., so while she is out during her surgery....they will give her ears a thorough cleaning. For some reason Anna's front feet are very sensitive...she does not like them touched. Anna has the freedom of the whole house now!! She is out of her crate all day and just hanging out with the rest of our crew. She is doing really well with our cats. She's curious for sure....but we don't believe she wants to hurt them. She might give them a good run if she encounters them in the yard though. Anna does not have any leash training. I had all I could do to control her at the Vet's office...she is EXTREMELY strong! I definitely think she should be trained to walk with a Gentle Leader. Anna will really need Obedience class ASAP.......not whenever a class opens six months down the road. Please don't take this information wrong! Anna is a very loving, affectionate Boxer Girl! Anna had a great run with our Dobie Girl, Carlie, yesterday. She was a little frustrated because she couldn't catch the Dobie......but what an excellent work out they had! 3/2/03 - Greetings from Boxer Mountain! Anna's only been here less than twenty four hours. She's a beautiful WHITE girl with about 4,000 freckles!! She has a black nose, a small black patch under one eye......looks like her mascara is running. Anna's duclaws have been removed. SHE IS NOT DEAF.......just a little thick-headed! She has a lot of energy. Anna knows some basic commands.......SIT, NO...but she is not trained for walking on a leash. She has a very good appetite. From inside her crate she barked at our crew for quite a while.....not because of aggression...she wants to get out and play!! Anna has calmed down with her barking by 80% already. She slept quietly through the whole night......didn't make a peep. So far I'm walking her on the leash in the backyard but tomorrow I'm gonna try letting her drag the leash and walk by herself......maybe see what happens with one of our crew. Our eight year old grandson Dylan was here for overnight and Anna was fine with him. We have not CAT TESTED her yet. Hope she passes because we do have four cats who live here. It will mean much less crate time for her if she DOES pass! Anna will go to the Vet next week for her check-up..Up to date on shots, heartworm testing, etc. We'll also schedule her spaying surgery. |
