6/21/06 - Ah, sweet Chyna! She had 2 mast cell tumors removed from each of her sides yesterday. They shaved large
amounts of hair, and she has 6-7 inch gashes on each side. We now call her "Franken-puppy." We will soon find out
what grade the tumors are. Keep your fingers crossed that they are a grade 1!!! I can't get her to keep the goofy collar
on, so I am being held captive at home for at least 9 days. Hey...it's a great excuse to not go out shopping!!!
2/20/06 - Chyna was being a houdini and ruining crate after crate. So with BAR's help we found an indestructible crate
for her. Her adopted Mom writes:Chyna has NOT even attempted to get out of this one.  I think she is resigned to the fact
that she just can't be out while we aren't home...period.  She can't even get that bugger to budge!  We always show guests
the "lion's cage!"  It has been a true lifesaver for us.

I have to tell you...Chyna is truly one of the best family dogs that I have ever had.  My kids wrestle with her, sleep with her,
climb on her, etc.  If the kids are in trouble, then it is a given that Chyna was also involved.  She lines up with the 2 boys
when they're getting a talking to.  She smiles when they smile.  My kids will look back on their childhood and always
remember Chyna was with them when they did such-and-such.  They will tell their children some of the silly stories of their
"white boxer with a patch on her eye who could play the meanest game of tug-of-war who loved to drag them around on
their bums with a rope toy."  I know that she's a little rambunctious, but she is so worth it.

By the way, we got our calendar and we LOVE it!  Really cool to see what you people look like!  No ogres in that crowd!
Thanks for checking in on us!  We are doing fantastic!

1/14/05 -I know, I know...another update on Chyna! Chyna has been a real challenge, and I feel like it's a reassurance to
ourselves that she has truly reached some milestones and has come a long way.

So here it goes...no accidents in the house, only slight movement around the room in her crate, she is calming down
considerably, and the vet said she looks fantastic! She went for an update on her bordatella shot, and Chyna weighed in
at 57lbs. The vet said, "Let's see...I can feel her ribs but not see them and she maintains a cute little girlish figure. Perfect."

Chyna continues to charm her way into everyone's heart when we go for car rides. It is rare for me to come out of a store
and not find at least one person talking to her through the window of my car! I have found old women, small children, big
burly men with tons of tattoos, etc. She really does have the cutest face! She seems to smile at everyone, and that little nub
of a tail wags so hard that it seems like an extension of her smile!

Chyna has learned how to roll over, retrieve and return her ducky to my lap, etc. At times it has seemed like I had another
3 year old
in the house, but we absolutely love her!
12/18/04 - Chyna has learned how to roll over! It only took a few short lessons,
and she does a great job! My aunt and I spent the day baking homemade dog cookies
for all of the family dogs for xmas. Chyna absolutely loved the Parmesan Twists!
One thing that I didn't note last time was that I cannot remember the last time
she had an accident in the house. Her favorite thing in the whole world is going
for car rides. A couple of days ago, I came out of a store to find 3 elderly ladies
tapping on my window, "Hello, handsome! Aren't you a cute fella! Doesn't he look
like the dog from that show? Ya...The Little Rascals!" They seemed disappointed
when I told them she was a girl! All three of them seemed thrilled that I let them
all pet her. Chyna, of course, just ate up all the attention (like she doesn't get
any)! BAR...we (I, especially) just love this little girl to pieces!!! Happy
Holidays to all of you who had the chance to spend time with this sweetie!!!
12/4/04 - Chyna's 2nd birthday just passed on November 29th. First we all sang Happy
Birthday, gave her a birthday peanut butter and jelly sandwich, went for car a ride
took, cooked her a marrow bone, and then took her to Petsmart for a new crate! Yup...
we have to crate her again. She did SOOOO well for a while there, but since the cold
weather has arrived, she just doesn't get as much exercise to wear her out. Therefore,
she turns her energy to destroying everything in sight! On Thanksgiving, she ate the
couch cushions after only being alone for 1 1/2 hours. I cried, my husband threw a fit,
and the kids giggled because it looked like the sky had rained little pieces of yellow
foam all over the living room. She already knew she had done something wrong. It got
very discouraging as more and more things were destroyed...daily. She is so lucky that
she is just the sweetest, cutest, most lovable little girl! Believe me--we've had
plenty of issues with Chyna, but we seem to be able to overcome them. I just wish we
could see into the future and be able to tell if she's going to calm down soon!!! Chyna
is excellent with other dogs, loves children, and loves women. She seems to be afraid
of men all of a sudden though. My husband and I think it's because she used to like to
wrestle with every guy that walked in. Give her a few minutes, and she snuggles right
up with the guys, but she definitely needs to be able to get "acquainted" on her own
terms. I have made a big deal about NO ONE wrestling with her anymore. I'm sure that
people think I'm being ridiculous, but I really don't want her to bite out of fear
(I don't think she would, but we don't need to chance it). It is hard to not get
physical with her because she pounces on people, grabs their sleeves, play growls,
etc. Now I tell her "off" and send her outside with a ball. A Police dog trainer
turned me onto a website where I can work on some of her bad habits, learn to
understand her fears, etc. When Chyna is good, she's irresistible. When she is bad,
we just have to remember her age, breed, and that she's half "devil" dog! I will update
BAR has we make progress. She is as much loved today (if not more) than the day we met
her!
9/3/04 - Just thought I'd send another update on Chyna-girl. She is doing incredibly well.
She destroyed crate #3 so we decided to switch things up. We put her in the broken crate
with frozen peanut butter. We DO NOT lock her in; she can get out immediately. We go to
the car and leave. We've come home to ripped up pillows a couple of times, our fruit bowl
broken, and missing fruit, but she is so much better. No pee & no poop! She is just a
sweetheart! The bus came yesterday to pick my 5 year old up for the first day of school,
and she barked up a storm when the monitor put her arm around Adam and led him away. She
calmed down, but she was not happy! Right now she is lying down next to my office chair,
ball by her side, legs straight out behind her! Really...we couldn't love her more!
6/16/04 - Wow...what a whirl wind trip we have been on! Since I last wrote, Chyna had a
seizure related to Clomicalm. I went back to the vet, and, due to some wing-nuts in the
office, I have changed vets. We are now working on some behavior modifications and
looking into doggy daycare twice a week. Our old vet did blood work, and it looks as
though Chyna's blood work must have beenmixed up with the dog before her (big fat Lab
with patchy hair). The results referred to a dog who had high pancreatic enzyme levels
and had a hypo-thyroid. Our new vet was bewildered. Chyna has a gorgeous coat and is
at a very healthy weight--not in the least bit fat. She is very muscular due to her
incessant frisbee and ball playing. I'm sure that even her crate pouncing is great
exercise!
We could not ask for a sweeter dog! I will say that she is very intimidating looking to
people who have never seen her before! Two representatives from the phone company came
to our door. When I opened the door, Chyna jumped out the door on all four feet, and
then she jumped right back inside. The two reps froze, and then each of them held their
chests to squelch a possible heart attack! We all laughed...HARD! But I do have to
remember that she scares the bejesus out of strangers!Did I mention that we may rename
her Spot? (ha ha!) She gets more spots daily! I also need to mention her
protectiveness of our house and children! My friend (neighbor) comes over frequently.
If she tries to
open the door into the house, Chyna pounces the door shut again. She will NOT let anyone
into the house until I reach the door. My mother just barges in and yells, "For godsake,
let me in Chyna!!!" She is soooooo smart and so
funny!!!!!!!! (Chyna, that is!)Well that's it for now! I have to leave the house for
about three hours today, so I have to play frisbee with her for about an hour before
we go. Then, we'll switch it up tonight to wear her out again! We just love her so much!

4/24/04 - Hi, Chyna-followers!  Chyna has started a new medication called Clomicalm. So far, we haven't
seen any results, but after reading the website, it could take up to 6 weeks before it sets in.  We actually got to see her in crate-destroying mode today!  We were in absolute awe.  We held my son's 5th birthday party today, and our plan was to wait until
everyone arrived and then let her out.  The thought was that she would meet everyone at once, go through one spastic greeting to everyone, and then be able to settle down.  So...we put her on the deck in her crate.  She howled, yipped, bounced, and pounced her way all the way across the deck and almost plopped herself right into the driveway!  Our guests watched in horror!  I now want to giggle.  This would have been a great "Turner & Hootch-esque" type movie.  I can just picture the camera panning from Chyna's crate session to the crowd of people in our living room who were slack-jawed and absolutely horrified.  I can only imagine what their thoughts were!  Anyway...we had to resort to Plan B which was to bring her in and let her have a spastic greeting with every new guest.  We just couldn't risk her getting hurt. Our guests actually fell in love with her.  She really is a sweet girl, very gentle with the kids, loves a long game of fetch, etc.

Crate #3 is just about gonzo.  It is dilapidated and held together with 12 latch clips.  The crate is only 2 months old, and I just can't
buy another one at this time.  This particular crate was $136 on sale.  We came home from dinner yesterday, and one of the wires was sticking straight up into the air.  We just don't know how she does it.  We are really anxious to see some results from the Clomicalm.  We don't want to inhibit her; we just want her to be at peace when we aren't home.  I even changed the radio station I had been
leaving on for her, but that didn't seem to work either.

Today...my brother brought his 7 month old boxer, Tyson, over to play.  Chyna ignored all of the kids and set to work on some new wrestling moves.  Tyson gave up after about 3 hours of non-stop WWF, but Chyna just wouldn't give up.  Even if she got tired, she would still jaw wrestle with him.  We have to face it...Chyna is even more energetic than the average boxer.  Perhaps she is ADHD?  I will send another update when she has completed at least 6 weeks of the Clomicalm!  She is now up to 54 pounds, and the girl is far from fat.  Dr. O'Gorman says she is in fantastic shape!  Yahoo!

3/22/04 - Well...we're having some pretty serious anxiety issues with Chyna these days.  She has always
pounced furiously on her crate, but now she pounces until she can find a weak part to escape from.
Once out, she poops on the floor, tramples it, and runs it all over the floor and walls.  Not to
mention all of the furniture cushions she has eaten.  It is very frustrating.  She is very obedient,
sweet, playful, etc.  But this is really difficult.  I have contacted Tina, and I have asked her
for some help/suggestions.  Luckily, (or unluckily) there is another adoptee who is going through
similar anxiety issues.  Chyna will be seeing the vet sometime this week, and I will keep BAR
updated.  We are not giving up on her.  We will not return her to rescue.  We are determined to help
her be a peace when we are not home.  I'll log what the vet says.  Wish us luck!!!

3/5/04 - Chyna is now attending Advanced Training.  We had a great group in Basic Training, and so we all decided as a group to do Advanced.  She is doing very well, and we work with her numerous times
each week.  She has learned: sit, stay, down, off, leave it, sit stay, down stay, heel, around, stand, stand stay, take it, etc.  Everyone remarks that she needs to learn "off" much better.  It's innate.  She just can't help herself!  We didn't have her in the spring last year, so we are learning the hard way that we can't let her out to romp in the mud.  We definitely have to watch her!  She had 3 baths this week alone.  We're convinced that she was formerly a pig in her last life because she absolutely rolls in the mud...little bugger!  She has started some new wrestling moves with my 5 year old that has got to stop.  Adam holds her tug toy, she tries to take it back, they run around the house furiously, and finally she will grab the back of his shirt for an old fashioned take down!  Not good!  I need a new job just to pay for new clothes for the darn kid!  Anyway...we are looking forward to the warmer weather so that we can take her hiking up at Chase Farm and Lincoln Woods.  Oh, ya!  She needs her own bed, too!  Complete bed hog these days.  We also had to get her a new crate.  She broke her crate to the point where we could no longer fix it.  My know-it-all brother didn't believe me and accused me of exaggerating.  Then...he saw it!  No one can believe that we didn't take a sledge hammer to the crate.  The trainer suggested draping a sheet over the crate to create a more calming atmosphere.  We'll try anything!  She is still very snuggly, loves my
children (all children really), and snores like a werewolf!  Will update again soon!

10/30/03 - Sorry for the late update on Chyna! We have been really busy these days. Between the kids and Chyna, our days and evenings are really hopping! We've been attending Obedience classes with Chyna and she has made forever friends with Roxie (American/English Bulldog) and Madison (Brindle Boxer). She has done extremely well. She has a hard time concentrating at class with all of the other dogs that she's dying to play with, but I'm impressed at how well she listens. Lose her attention or have lousy training treats, and you're a goner! We really love her. Chyna actually just met someone that she DIDN'T like...my mother-in-law. It was so strange. She followed my M-I-L from room to room and did a nervous growl. After a couple of hours she finally came around and let my M-I-L touch her, but one quick move and Chyna was out of the room without her feet touching the ground. We still have trouble with her jumping on the kids in the back yard, but we're still working on it. She does much better in the crate. She rarely pounces and never has accidents...EVER!!! She sleeps on our bed all the time now, and often naps with my 2 year old. She cuddles right up next to him and won't leave until he wakes up. Oh yeah...we have one other issue...she keeps jumping out of the house through screens. We currently have 3 ripped screens. Bummer. Chyna has definitely been a lot of work, but she is a great dog. I wouldn't wish her on anyone who didn't have some serious amount of time to work with her. She makes my husband and I laugh at night. She falls asleep on the chair with my husband and falls off the chair without waking up. A real character she is!!! America's Funniest Home Videos...here we come!!! Tonight is Halloween. The kids wanted to take her out and dress her up, but that won't be happening. We will put her in a crate with a great big knuckle bone, put on some calming music, and keep her out of trouble. We'll give a birthday update on her in a couple of weeks!

8/20/03 - I'm sorry I've taken so long to give an update, but we've been very busy with our new puppy girl! Believe me when I tell you that we have come an extremely long way with Chyna. We adopted her only one week after our 10 year old greyhound, Reggie, had passed away from bone cancer. We knew that a boxer would be like night and day compared to Reg. Boy...were we right!!! Chyna has more energy but also has a greater tolerance for our two children. She peed in our house non-stop including on our bed...twice. It was really difficult watching her and attending to my 4 and 1 1/2 year old children. As soon as she peed, I'd tell her firmly "no", leash her, and calmly bring her outdoors. As soon as she peed I'd give her a treat and kiss her and commend her. Here we are a month later and NO ACCIDENTS!!! Yay!!! We have a sliding screen door that we literally left open all day long for the last couple of weeks. She could take herself out. Once she recognized that peeing outside was the right way, I started closing the door. Chyna goes to the door, looks at me, and sits or circles the room once. This week...no accidents. The week before...one accident. If I go downstairs to do laundry, I had better have something for her to do. Otherwise, she will pee on the linoleum in front of the basement door. Again, now that I've recognized that as an issue, Chyna and I have been able to address it, solve it, and remember it. I felt captive at home for the first couple of weeks because she kept breaking out of the crate and destroying anything and everything in sight. We came home from Mystic Aquarium and found all of my plants broken, the trash torn up all over the floor, my favorite straw hat torn up, and our antique piano chewed. BAR...it was a faint flicker, but I almost sent the girl packing! Once I regained my composure, I went out and bought a bunch of c-clips and attached them all over her crate. For the next couple of weeks, we often came back to lots of poop and pee in the crate. I'm talking leaving for

Are you ready for a funny Chyna story? We took her to Maine for a camping trip. She was excellent on the 5 hour trip up there. We camped on a friends property with about 75 other Rhode Island friends. Chyna was a real hit with everyone. Everyone asked about the adoption process, fees, the website, etc. We tied Chyna to a tree while we pitched our "Taj Mahal" sized tent. Later, I brought her into the tent for a nap with the boys. The tent was like kitty catnip for her! She started running in circles, hopping like a bunny, tearing at our bedding, etc. Then she body slammed me...HARD. She came at me again and landed flat on top of me. No commands worked, no attempts to restrain her worked, nothing! I slapped her bum in a last ditch attempt to get the upper hand and ZOOOOOMMMMMM...right through the side of the tent she went. Everyone around us heard the commotion and then heard her rip through the tent. People were laughing so hard that pretty soon everyone heard what had happened. Needless to say...never slap a boxer bum. I couldn't even be mad about the tent. She was just like "Wahoo...do it again, Mom!"

I took her to our vet for the first time, and he was really impressed with her. Well behaved, very friendly, and totally focused on her brothers. There are some issues to be worked on such as body-slamming the boys in the back yard, but the boys are more than happy to listen and learn how to deal with her. Chyna seems to be very happy and content in our home. We love her so much. Everywhere I go, she must go. And if I stand too long or sit down, she will lay down right on top of my feet. I wouldn't trade her for the world, and we are so glad we took the chance on adopting her. I hope that the original owners know that all of their love and attention when she was a pup still shines through now at 8 months old.
P.S. 42 pounds, Lisa! She is really growing!!!

7/22/03 - I spoke to Chyna's new family today for their 1 week update. Kim says that Chyna is a doll, but completely through and through "PUPPY". She said it has done wonders with getting her kids to remember to keep their toys picked up and how they need to not get too rowdy or the puppy will get rowdy too. Chyna had quite a few accidents the first couple of days, but is getting better. Kim and her family are starting to understand Chyna and her way of telling them what she needs and when she needs it. They love Chyna very much and can't wait for those obedience classes to start. They are being very patient and understanding and were happy to hear a few suggestions to help things go a little smoother. Thanks Kim on the great update on Chyna. She is a very special little girl. Good luck with her. And remember we are all always here to help with anything.

7/14/03 - Well, my Chyna doll has left. She is on her way with her new family. She has a 2 skin kids to love, ages 2 & 4. The kids played with her for quite a while when they first arrived. They were all playing fetch and Chyna loved it. Their boys had a blast playing
with my 3 girls too.  Chyna seemed to fit in very well with all of them. She snuggled with them and played as well. She did show them her nippy charm and they were all very good with her on that. I think they will all be very happy together.  Chyna seemed happy to go with them but she was hesitant to leave us. That did make me feel better that I knew she will at least miss us a little. I know I will miss her jumping up next to me on the couch and burrowing her head into me pinchy biting all the way. I guess now we just sit back and enjoy the break before the next foster. I do have to say though, there is a little bit of a void when they leave. Thank you Gary and Nancy for sticking us with our Chyna monster. She was a great foster.  It was great to see how much she blossomed in the month she was with us. She did exactly what we expected her to do and progressed quite well. She will still need additional work with her new family, but they are up to the challenge. I did get a great feeling about this family. Thanks Tina for once again doing a great job matching family to dog. You do your job very well.  Lisa

7/13/03 - Chyna is pending adoption.

7/2/03 - Hi all, Chyna here. WOW has it been hot. We don't have air conditioning at my foster home, but we do ok with lots of fans. One day it was so hot that when mom saw 92 degrees at 9:00 in the morning, mom said for all of us dogs and kids to get in the car and we tool a ride to Nana's house. I liked that place. There was nice cool air conditioning inside, and a little doggy size pool and a sprinkler outside. This Nana person even has a little German Shepard puppy who is smaller than me. I like playing with him. And he likes me too. The other days that we haven't gone to the Nana person's house, we just stay in the house with fans blowing on us most of the time and the rest of the time we lay in the shade outside. I like it when mom has the skin kids outside and she comes and sprays me with the hose. That is the most fun of all.
I have still been doing good with that housetraining stuff. I still have accidents in my cage when I'm left in there when the family goes out, but it's not all the time now. Sometimes I can go longer than other times, but we can never tell which days are going to be better. I guess it's a good thing that the family doesn't go out very often. They usually go out for awhile on the weekends, but if they are going to be gone too long they come back and let me go potty. My little puppy bladder just can't handle long periods of time yet. During the week though, I get to spend all day with foster mom and the skin kids. Those kids come and go alot, but always end up right back here with me.
All in all, I think I am a pretty good puppy. I love the skin kid's dolls that have hair. I like to pick them up by that hair and prance around the house with them. It is fun until mom catches me and tells me to drop it. I usually listen without her having to chase me around the house, but sometimes I like to have some fun.
I really am a good puppy. Please consider me as an addition to your home. If you have the time to stay home and give me the love and devotion that I will gladly return, then get your application in. I'll be waiting for your call. Love, Chyna

6/28/03 - Well, we have discovered something about Chyna. She LOVES water. I was outside one day spaying the garden hose and she just started biting the water, drinking it and playing in it. By the time she was done she was soaked. Every time I spray that hose now she is right there to get the water. My dogs like to drink the water from the hose, but Chyna attacks the water. it's a game to her.
Chyna has another game too. She will be outside for her last call of the night and she decides it is her personal free for all time. She will be standing in the middle of the yard and all of a sudden take of running. She goes around the swing set, around the tree, up on the deck, down off the deck and then stops. She will stand there for a few seconds and then take off again. She'll do this for like 10-15 minutes and then just stop as suddenly as she started. It is the funniest thing I have ever seen. She looks like a cat after it gets into the catnip. She had me in stitches laughing the first time I saw her do this.
Chyna continues to do well with her housetraining. She still has an occasional accident in her crate, but she has only had one or two accidents out in the house in the 2 1/2 weeks she has been here with us. Compared to how she was, I would definitely say she has improved greatly. She has even started to learn how to ask to go out when she is in her crate. When out of her crate she just starts walking around by the back door and that means she needs to go. She really is picking up on what she's supposed to be doing.
Chyna is ready for a home of her own. Will it be you who gives that to her?? If you adopt this little girl, she will give you more love and devotion then you could ever imagine. So won't you add this little firecracker to your 4th of July weekend?

6/23/03 - Hi folks. This is Chyna here at M & M Boxer Bunker. It has been a lot of fun here since I got my stitches out and my foot started feeling better. I have two Boxer friends here that I love to play with, and three skin kids that I like too. They all give me lots of hugs and kisses and I love it. I give them kisses and hugs right back and sometimes I even give little pinchy nibbles. I just get over excited, but foster mom tells me I have to calm down or those little nibbles wil hurt someone. I'm just playing. Geeze. I have also had to learn that I can't jump up on people so much. Foster mom says I'm learning quickly, but still need to be reminded. We've had to come up with a way to let me know that I can't jump, because if you just try to push me down, I think it's a cool new game and I get really excited then. Foster mom came up with a way that I have been responding to very well. If you adopt me she will tell you how to handle me for those little issues.
As for this thing they call housetraining. I'm getting the hang of it. Since I have been here, I have only had one accident in the house. And the other accidents I've had have been in my crate. There were only two times in the beginning that I had an accident in the crate when the humans were home. The other times were when they went out. The first time they went out for a little bit, I got scared and had #1 and #2 accidents in my cage. Then I was so nervous that I paced back and forth and spread it all over. When foster dad got home he took me outside and hosed me and the cage off. I liked that, but I didn't like my cage smelling that yucky. I'm better now. If I have an accident in my cage now it's only #1. But I'm learning not to do that too. It's hit or miss whether I have an accident or not. My foster parents go out to family's house on weekends most of time, and I have learned to stay in my crate and they will be home soon enough. They have given me this really cool thing in my crate called a kong. They fill it with food, peanut butter, and treats. I REALLY like that. We only get those when we go in our crates when the humans won't be home. That's our special treat for being so good.
I still spend my calm down time in my crate. I have been able to be trusted more out of the crate, but with these other fun doggies here, I have a little trouble calming down, so foster mom puts me in my crate. I am so good in there. The crate is right in the living room so I can see everyone and everything. I just lay right down and go to sleep. I also go in there to eat my breakfast and dinner. I don't mind eating with the other dogs, but they like to steal my food. And that's not fair. At least I get all my food when I eat in my crate. I am a growing baby after all and need all my food so I can grow up big and strong.

It has been a blast here. There has been lots of things to do and learn. But, I'm ready for a forever home now. Would you please be mine? I'm just a little puppy looking for someone to love me and teach me the ways of the world. I wouldn't mind I you have other animals, or if you just want me all to yourself. As long as you let me snuggle with you and give you kisses. So get your applications in if you haven't already. I'll be right here waiting for your call. Talk to you soon.
Love and little puppy kisses, Chyna

6/18/03 - Our little Chyna doll went to the vet this morning to have her fecal and get her stitches out. Her incision looks great from her spay, her stitches are out, and the vet said her leg is healing wonderfully. She did test positive for hookworm, but the vet said it is a very mild case and is very easily cured. She had to take two pills today and two pills in two weeks. And that is it!! She is now up to a whopping 35.6 lbs. Woohoo!! She's such a little thing compared to my monsters. But the vet said she looks great.
We did have a poopy accident in the cage this morning. The vet said that it is possible that the hookworms are helping to complicate the housebreaking. He said she may do much better after she is treated. We'll see. She has been out of her crate a lot today and has not had any accidents in the house. We are very proud of her progress. Compared to how she was doing, she has improved greatly in the short time we've had her here.
Chyna has been playing very well with our dogs. Now that her stitches have been removed she is able to play a lot more. And she is loving it. She really enjoys playing with the dogs and thinks that their legs are chew toys. Every time they try to run she grabs them by the knees. Then of course they do it to her. I guess it's a fun game for dogs. It looks painful to me, but they don't seem to mind.
Chyna is ready to go to a home of her very own. Please don't let her lack of being fully housebroken keep you from taking this sweet puppy. She is learning fast, and with some time and effort she will get it right in no time. Like I said, she has already progressed a lot in the short time she has been here. Won't you give her the chance she deserves. She's waiting to give you hugs and kisses. Not too slobbery, but just right. She will melt your heart when you meet her. So please get your applications in if you are interested in this little Chyna doll.

6/17/03 - Chyna has been doing really well. She can keep her cage dry if she is left home for no more than about 3 hours or so. We tested it over the weekend. She has not pooped in her cage since the first time we left her home in it. She does need to be watched if left out in the house. She has not had any accidents in the house since she came to stay with us. She loves to run around outside, and has been able to a bit more lately. She needs some outside time to run and play and have the time to go potty. Sometimes it takes her a little while to go, but she's getting the hang of it.

Chyna LOVES tennis balls (and most other toys too). She pounces on them like a cat pouncing on its prey. She is still such a love bug.

Chyna loves the kids, but still can be a little puppy rough. She gives little pinchy play nibbles when she's excited. She also will chase the kids when they run. Not to hurt them, but she wants to get in on the playtime. When she catches them, she chews on their arms like she does when playing with the other dogs. She is definitely only playing, but those puppy teeth are sharp. We are working a lot on getting her to stop that, but she is still a baby after all.

Chyna is a wonderful puppy. She listens so well. If she is whimpering in her cage and not settling down, all you have to do is say "Chyna sit" "Chyna down" and she lays right down. She is so good. She still doesn't settle right away sometimes when it's bedtime, but it doesn't take long. She really likes to be where she can see you.

If you are in the mood for puppy, get your applications in quick. You won't be sorry with this little girl. She is a "Chyna Doll"!! She will make you very happy. Please make her yours!!

6/12/03 - Well, Miss Chyna has come to be our 2nd foster here at M & M Boxer Bunker. She is a little doll. Chyna came to stay with us to be housetrained. Since I am home all day, I have the ability to keep a very close eye on her. Right now she is being jept in a crate in the same room as me for a good portion of the day to keep her from playing with the resident Boxers. Chyna still is recovering from her spay and her hairline fracture in her leg. Her leg is sore, but we are trying to keep her fairly quiet so it isn't aggrivated. This little pup is sweet as they come. She still has that puppy softness to her fur. And after she gets to know you for a few minutes, she can give the sweetest little kisses. She would like to play more, but she's doing very good in her cage. She barked a little last night because she wanted to be out with her new friends. But after a few minutes she settled down and went to sleep. I think after Chyna learns what housebroken really mmens, she will make a wonderful addition to any home. She loves kids, people, and other dogs. We haven't cat tested yet, but we will soon. If you are interested in some puppy love get your applications in quick. This little Chyna doll won't stick around for long. Keep an eye out for more updates as she makes progress. I'm sure it won't be long.

6/11/03 - Our little Chyna girl is on the move. It was decided that she needs a heavier dose of house training, so she is on her way to the M & M Boxer Bunker, where Mark & Lisa will start increasing her dose of it. Our home is not well situated for Chyna, as we are not home much, and poor Chyna really does not understand that she needs to hold it in till she is let out. Our situation, quite frankly, is not much different from the situation that Chyna came from, and one of the reasons her original owner turned her over to BAR.

This is really one excellent girl, playful as can be, and loves everyone she meets. Whether 2 legged or 4 legged, Chyna has nothing but kisses and love for you, and wants to be your best friend. She is healing from her spay, stitches can be taken out this weekend, and she is still limping a bit on her leg. Keeping this girl quiet is a real challenge, she has a lot of puppy in her. Those of you who know your boxers, this 6 month old is typical of the breed. She will play till she drops.

So Lisa and Mark, enjoy your new girl, and good luck in your work with Chyna.

6/8/03 -  My little Chyna doll is back from her spay, and is resting in her crate. We are gonna try to keep her even quieter then normal as we learned that she has a hair line break in her left from paw. This crazy puppy was our romping around as usual on Wed nite, the nite before her spay, and when i called her in, she was limping. When she was still limping on Thursday, we mentioned it to the vet, who looked her over and said that since she was going to be sleeping for the spay, he would x-ray the leg, as he felt something was not right. Turns out he was right; there is a very small break. There is plenty of support where the break is, so she will not need any cast, he just mentioned to try to have her stay quiet. Well, good luck to us on that, huh? She was VERY hungry when we took her home, and she woofed down her puppy food mixed with an extra heaping of vanilla yogurt. This was the best she had eaten since she got her. She must not have eaten very well in the day plus that she was at the vet. She has actually kept her crate dry today, and even peed outside. We heaped lots of praise on her, and maybe we are starting to make some progress. Stay tuned for further updates on my little China doll puppy.

6/3/03 - Chyna is one active puppy. She has been playing for hours on end with her foster brother, Snoopy. I don’t know how he keeps up with her, but he does. Not bad for a 4 yr old, huh? Chyna likes to play rough, and she surely does play rough. She is really not a jumper, but she does do this “spearing” routine. She takes her 2 front paws, and jabs (stabs) you with them. I’ll tell you, she has done that to me a few times, and it does hurt. We are trying to get this more under control, but I can tell you it is going to take more work, that’s for sure.:o)))
We have learned that Chyna is also not at all housetrained. She has peed and pooped in her crate, and she really doesn’t seem to mind it one bit. I always thought that dogs do not like to pee where they sleep, but Chyna just moves some of the wet pads over a bit and sleep she does. I called her mom who brought her to rescue, and she told me that Chyna would actually go into her crate to pee when she lived at home. She feels it may be some behavior learned when she was in the pet store and in her cage for very very long periods of time. Who knows, but one thing for sure, there is work to be done in this area, but at 6 months old, not very uncommon.
She is a very sweet girl, who does calm down enough to give very sweet kisses. When I get down on the floor with her, she realizes that I am there for some lovin, and not playin. And she accommodates me very quickly.
Chyna is a very strong little pup. We found the crate in the middle of the room, when I know that I had left it against the wall. It was moved a good 8 feet, with her in it!! I was very surprised at this, so I put her back in her spot, and left the room, and watched thru the window what was going on. She actually takes her front paws, and thrusts them into the crate door, and it moves the crate. So, I thought I had the solution, I connected her crate to Snoopy’s crate with a leash clip, and guess what, this morning both crates were in the middle of the room. Poor Snoopy, he looked a bit sea sick :o)) Tonight, I am clipping it to the piano downstairs……try that Chyna girl :o)))
Chyna is eating well. We have moved her from the canned food she came into rescue with to dry food mixed with yogurt. She is also going in for her spay on Thursday, and then my little sweetie is all set for her forever home. So, if you are ready for puppy activity, with puppy housetraining and obedience training commitment, your girl is just about set. And tomorrow, we WILL have pics of this cutie…..promise!!

6/1/03 - The Wings & Halo Haven had a new guest arrive today. Welcome Chyna. Her mom, Janette, made an extremely difficult decision to give her to rescue. She was supposed to get a nice new home, but that deal fell thru, and she realized that Chyna could not continue to grow, and be happy in their current apartment. In addition, she was working longer hours, and knew Chyna needed more attention then she could give. I must say, I was very impressed with the amount of love and attention the she was able to give Chyna. Chyna is UTD on all her vaccinations, and even attended puppy obedience training. She was living with a beautiful 4 yr old skin sister, who will miss her terribly.
Well, let me tell you Chyna is a BEAUTIFUL 6 month old white girl, with gorgeous cropped ears and docked tail. She has a full brindle patch over her right eye. Everything else is totally white. I will have to get over to Sue for some pic's of this girl, as I still do not have my camera yet.
Chyna has met all the boxers, all 4 of them. My 3 guys and foster boy Snoopy. I think she arrived at just the right time. Dyno Pug Ali went to her forever home yesterday, and Snoopy was feeling a bit down today. He now has a pretty good substitute for Ali. Chyna just loves to play, and she can do a mean boxing match. Typical puppy. She was going at it for hours with all the boxers outside, and then when she came inside, she was one on one with Snoopy for quite a bit. They were so tired at one point, that they were both on the floor, lying on their sides, just "jawing" with each other. Neither had enough energy to get up and go at it again.
She is doing well in the crate, although she did not have much of an appetite tonight She has had a few accidents on the tile floor tonight, so we will do further evaluations with her later.
All in all, I really can't get over how pretty this girl is. Sweet as pie, playful as any puppy can be, and cute....well...they don't come any cuter. This girl will take over your heart in no time flat. Watch for more updates soon.
