Pertinent Information 7/5/04 - I CAN'T BELIEVE WE HAVE ONLY HAD SASHA FOR ONE
YEAR. SHE IS JUST A GREAT GIRL AND WE LOVE HER SO 11/29/03 - TO ALL BAR VOLUNTEERS; IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 5 MONTHS SINCE WE BROUGHT OUR BELOVED SHASHA INTO OUR LIVES. WE'D NEVER HAD A FEMALE BOXER, SO WE ARE HAPPY TO FIND THAT LIKE ALL BOXERS, SHE HAS STILL GOT A LOT OF PUPPY IN HER. SHE CONTINUES TO GROW, MY GUESS IS THAT SHE HAS PUT ON A GOOD 5-10 POUNDS SINCE WE ADOPTED HER. SHE PROBABLY WEIGHS A GOOD 85 POUNDS. SHE CONTINUES TO BE A LITTLE HYPER WHEN SHE FIRST COMES IN OR SEES YOU, BUT SHE CALMS DOWN AND IS SUCH A LOVE. SHE STILL WANTS TO CHASE THE CATS, BUT ONLY IF THEY RUN FROM HER, OTHERWISE THEY STARE EACH OTHER DOWN, AND THE CATS ARE FASTER AND MORE AGILE. WE DO ENJOY HER VERY MUCH AND REMAIN FOREVER GRATEFUL. SINCERELY, KAY 9/2/03 - Sasha has been renamed Hally, even though we still call her Sasha now and then. She's a great dog and seems to thrive in all the love she gets from all of our family. Mindy did a great job of fostering her and we will forever be in her debt. Sasha/Hally still does not get along with our kitties so we often keep her on a leash in the evening when everyone is inside. She is such a big girl(77lbs) but she so loves to have her tummy rubbed. She's a sight to see with her limbs spreadeagle to accomodate her petter. As you can tell, Sasha went to a good home and we are so happy to have her. Thanks again, Kay 7/15/03 - Sasha has been adopted. 7/11/03 - Sasha is pending adoption. 7/9/03 - Hi Everyone, Another gorgeous day at Seaside Boxer Haven. Its been very hot but not for me. Foster mom keeps the A/c on all the time. (She worries about us) She put a little plastic pool on the side of the house. First she gave me a refreshing oatmeal bath, which I stood still for and loved it. I smell great. She then filled the pool and got in it. I figured if she can go in so can I. It was so cool. So now at Seaside Boxer Haven I have the open bay, my own pool and A/C. What more can I ask for? Mom still takes me on walks but not as long because of the heat. She's been playing with me inside. Last night I got a treat. The filled my bone with peanut butter. I was busy for hours. Doesn't take much to make me happy. I still have one Problem: I NEED A FOREVER HOME. WON'T YOU PLEASE HELP ME SOLVE MY PROBLEM. Love, Sasha 6/27/03 - Hi Everyone, Today is a wonderful day. I am completely done with my heartworm treatment and ready to go to a forever home. Its been six weeks for me to get better. I am now out of the crate and loving it. I will be sleeping on a nice cushioned couch tonight. I'm going to play all day. I don't have to rest anymore. Its time for me to be a typical boxer. Since its so hot Justin and I will play ball, frisbee, and catch inside where the A/C is on. I'm going to try and get Justin to sleep on the couch with me tonight. Tomorrow foster mom says she will give me an oatmeal bath. I'm not sure what that is but if I'm getting attention it sounds good to me. Foster mom says tomorrow I can run in the yard. Free at last. OK Everyone I really need a forever home. Look at my pictures. I'm adorable and loveable. Just ask my mom. She'll tell you I'm a real good girl. I love everyone and get along with other dogs. I'm completely housetrained, not one accident. I know my commands, and best of all I love to give those delicious boxer kisses. Please give me a chance. I promise you'll love me. Love Sasha 6/16/03 - Hi Everyone, Sasha here. I just had my
last heartworm treatment. 6/5/03 - Hi Everyone, What a great day I had. My morning started at 6am. Foster mom wakes us up every morning at this time. She's a real morning person. I get to go for a nice long walk. Guess what, after my walk I get my favorite "FOOD", dog food and scrambled eggs. What could be better. I still need to stay in my crate. Its now three weeks since I had my heartworm treatment. I do get to stay out of the crate for longer periods of time. I'm still not allowed to get to excited. I do get exercise. This afternoon mom and I were sitting on the couch. Actually mom was sitting on the couch and I was sitting on her. I cleaned her face. She won't have to wash her face for the next month. Mom said if I didn't stop her lips were going to come off. (How can that happen?) Next week Aunt Tina will take me to the vet for my last treatment. After that its only two weeks and I'm ready for my forever home. It also means I can have all the playtime I want. I'm young and energetic and can't wait to play. Please put your applications in now so I'll have a forever home to go to. Love , Sasha 5/29/03 - In two days it will be two weeks since Sasha had her heartworm treatment. She is doing great. Not one cough since she's been at Seaside Boxer Haven. She still needs to stay in her crate. We walk her fives times a day just to keep her active. She's a perfect lady on the leash. She sits, stays and comes when asked to. After her walks she knows she must go back into the crate. Sasha loves to be held and gives plenty of boxer kisses. Aunt Nancy said once we hit the two week mark she could come out of her crate for a while to walk around and sit on the couch. We look forward to her having a little freedom. She gets along great with other dogs. Sasha has a playmate named Justin. Justin is 15 yrs old and loves her. I believe the feeling is mutual. Sasha gives Justin face a bath every time she sees him. Since Justin can't play with her yet he goes in her crate to keep her company. Sasha will be ready for her forever home soon. 5/21/03 - I had my first treatment for heartworm on Friday. On Saturday Aunt Tina brought me to the meet and greet. I saw my foster mom walk in and I was so happy to see her. I thought she would take me out of he crate and play with me. She didn't. She explained that I needed to be kept quiet so I can get better. I sat and listened but don't really understand. I know she missed me because she kept kissing me and telling everyone how good I am. I sit, stay, and walk really nicely on a leash. Later on that day I got to go back to Seaside Boxer Haven. I was so surprised when I finally got there. (It took Uncle Gary over 2 hours to get us home) My foster brother Justin was waiting for me with opened arms. He says he really missed me. He took me for a walk then we went into this huge crate. He stayed with me for an hour and rubbed my belly. We both fell asleep. Foster mom walked in and woke us up. It was time for my dinner. I love that part. Everyday when Justin comes home from school he comes straight to see me. He walks me then we go in the crate. I'm sure glad he loves me because I look for him everyday it gives me something to do. I know I'll be all better soon because they are taking very good care of me. Please put your applications in so when I'm better I'll have a forever home to go to. 5/16/03 - Sasha needed to make a pit stop here at the Guardian Angel..what an angel this girl is. She has the best temperment in the whole world. She greats everyone with a nice wiggle and lots of kisses. She is very laid back and soooo very happy to just cuddle with you on the couch and give you all the kisses you want. Sasha is here for her heartworm treatment. She had the first shots today and will go back in one month for two shots within 24 hours time. She has been coughing and hacking quite a bit but that is due to the heartworm. She is resting comfortably in her crate on a very soft pillow bed. My parents actually took Sasha in for her shots today and when the vet went to give them he told my parents to hold on to her very tightly as the shots hurt the dogs tremendously and she needed two in her back near her hips. Well mom and dad latched on to her and you know they said that girl never budged! Not one muscle. Everyone please say a prayer for Sasha's quick recovery as the first few weeks are the worst part of this treatment and they have to be kept very quiet or they can get blockages from the passing worms. We will keep you updated on her progress as time passes. 5/8/03 - Sasha has made the much needed journey into BAR. Thanks to some incredibly dedicated employees of one of our favorite shelters, Sasha has arrived. A great big thank you to Rebecca and Melissa, who went back to the shelter at 9PM on a Wednesday night, met me at 9:30 so Sasha could get comfortable in her foster home, instead of laying on a hard, cold concrete floor till the weekend. You see, Sasha has tested positive for Heartworm. Poor girl :o((. Because of the generosity of these 2 young ladies, by 10PM Sasha had a nice comfortable bed to sleep in. When you 1st meet her, she is a bit scared, tail tucked tightly down, and a look of nervousness. But I will tell you; she sure does warm up quickly. By the time i put her in my car to take her to her foster home, this sweet girl was licking me behind the ears. (how did she know that was my "spot" :o)). She rode nicely during our 20-minute ride. She wanted to come in the front seat, but i preferred she stay in the back. Sasha is a big girl, in nice shape, and I estimate her to be about 60 lbs. She is very flashy, and reminds me a bit of BAR's very 1st dog, Beethoven. She has that look. Go check him out and see if you agree. She was already spayed before she was picked up as a stray, and knows some basic commands (sit and paw). When we arrived at her temporary foster home, which Mindy graciously offered to keep her safe and cozy till this weekend, she was feeling pretty relaxed. In a very short time, she was getting along with Mindy's foster girl Maxine, and when she met Mindy's 15 yr old son....well, lets just say she took an instant liking to him. When he sat in the chair, she was all over him, kissing him to bits. This is one loving, sweet girl. Aunt Tina has already set up a vet appointment for her next week, and will make the long 2 hour drive to pick her up this weekend and take her so she can keep that appointment. If your face has been feeling a bit dry from this winter, then this is just the girl for you. Get those apps in quickly, I think you will want to share your life with this girl. She's a real goodie :o)) |
