3 yr. old. Flashy Fawn 7/4/04 - We have had such a wonderful year with these two hams. Lately has been so wonderful for Star because the turn over of the lake has brought all these tasty dead fish. She is well aware that mom and dad are not real thrilled with her gross affinity but doesn't seem to care, because she still tries to sneak them whenever she gets a chance. Walker has been good lately also. It has been a little hot lately so he has been taking full advantage of his opportunities to swim. Today when he got back from his run with mommy he waded out in the lake up to his neck and just stood there waiting for someone to throw a stick for him. He is also a big sucker for boat rides, although I think he realizes that part of mom and dads fun is watching him and his sister walk around with their life jackets on. They both think they are quite bigger around all of a sudden then they actually are. Doorways now all of a sudden seem unmanuevarable. We did have a little bit a a scare in March with Walker though. We took him to the vet because of a tumor that was developing on his leg. It turned out that it was non-cancerous though. It was funny though that day he got to go to school for the first period with daddy, and he was quite the hit with all of the kids. Oooh what fun! They both graduated from advance obedience over the winter, hooray for them. Star has found her niche in the family as the beggar, and Walker is the protector. Any time that we eat anything Star appears at our side. Sometimes I wonder if she might be something out of Harry Potter. She will be nowhere in sight, and all of a sudden you open the refrigerator door and she materializes right behind you, looking in to see what you are getting. Walker on the other hand is too busy making sure everything is right with he world. "Ohh was that a firework? Woof Woof. Ohh was that the neighbors grand child crying? Woof wooof. Ohh was that a leaf blowing across the lawn? Woof woof." You get the picture. He does such a good job of letting us know everything. 1/31/04 - Wow its hard to believe it has only been six months since we got our two adorable babies. They have both adjusted so well. I can't imagine either one of them being without the other. Since our last update they have both graduated from advanced obedience training. Although Walker tended to out perform his sister on a weekly basis we saw great improvements in both of them. Unfortunately though they didn't have a very good Christmas. Mom and Dad were in Las Vegas and they had to go to the kennel for a week. Well Walker was just beside himself, and wasn't afraid to show Mom and Dad how upset he was that we were gone. It took him three days to stop moping around the house. They had a great Christmas though once everything was back to normal. In fact they each got nice presents under the tree like everyone else did. They were so excited about it that they even opened the presents themselves. Of course what dog isn't excited about peanut butter flavored biscuits and rawhide bones. Now everything is great though. It has been an exciting two weeks for both Walker and Star because they have had an unusual amount of company lately. We have been having our bathroom remodeled and there have been contractors in our house every day. They seem to really like all of the guys though. They have been quite wonderful helpers. Both of the clowns have been enjoying the snow, but Star seems to be enjoying it a little more than her brother. He doesn't like being outside for very long. In fact for their morning walks Walker would be more than content to just skip the whole routine. Star on the other hand is anxiously waiting every morning. What ever would we do without these two cuttie pies.
10/15/03 - Well Star and Walker have been
getting up with me and going for 2 1/2 miles in the morning before I
have to go to work. Last week when in began to get cold, Walker
decided that it would be nicer to stay home with dad so he then can
take over my spot in the nice warm bed. Star on the other hand is
ready and waiting when that alarm goes off. Once there out and about
they are ready to go but Walker can't wait to get back in bed with dad
until he needs to get up. Walker is very good about not giving dad
kisses until he sees dad's eyes open. Then he is a huge help and
getting my husband out of bed.
9/13/03 - Walker and Star are such a pair. They
are absolutely attached at the hip. Star has been such a different dog
since her brother came into the house. She is so much happier, she
eats like a horse, and she is ready to play 24:7. We must be the
luckiest boxer parents ever to get these two. Walker and Star are both
enrolled in advance obedience classes that will start at the beginning
of October. The class that they are enrolled in spends a great deal of
time teaching off lead tactics, which is where ultimately I really
want to be with these two. They are such a couple of hams though. The
other day I was trying to fix a flat tire on my wives car and I was
using the air compressor at my in-laws. Walker was just so sure that
that noisy thing was attacking me. Every time that I would turn it on
he would come running over and try to grab it out of my hand. 8/11/03 - Walker and Star are doing fabulous together. Star has recently graduated from her obedience class. Both dogs adjusted so quickly to each other, and Walker acted as if he was in his forever home from about the third day here. They are both such wonderful dogs. They love to play with each other, and Star is absolutely enamored with her new big brother. Walker is so gentle with Star when they play together. Lately we have been going to a local state park and I have been letting them run on all the trials while we walk. The two of them just love going and have so much fun together. Star is definitely the leader though. She has no problem being the Queen. She started off as a princess, but has quickly assumed the queen position. Star is definitely a different, and much happier dog, with Walker around. I could not be happier with the two wonderful new family member that we have adopted. Walker is always cleaning Stars face. It is so adorable. 7/19/03 - Walker is doing excellent in his new home. He and Star are like bookends..always together! Brad said Angela took Star to obedience class the other night without Walker there and she moped around the whole night and really missed him.
Walker is doing excellent..only a couple of small
accidents the first day and they were submissive behavior.
Otherwise he is doing excellent. He and Star play great together.
7/12/03 - Well Walker went on his way with his mom and dad today and they just loved him. He is much larger then Star (his sister) and they said he is a "moose". Walker took a liking to them right after he finished checking out our newest Bar dog, the 9 week old deaf girl.
He had plenty of kisses for them and they accepted them
graciously. I think Walker has found his permanent home!!
7/10/03 - Walker is pending adoption. 7/6/03 - Hi everyone...Walker here...mom said I can do my very own update today to tell you how really good I have been. I have been here with the gang for about 3 weeks now and I tell you I love it. Having these other dogs around to play with. We get to go out in the backyard and play with the toys. Zoey brings them out and then we steal them from each other. If mom brings me out alone I get to play catch with her!! I just love it when she throws the ball for me. I go to get it, bring it back and when she tells me to let go...guess what!...I do! Well how else are you going to be able to throw it for me again silly. I am completely housebroken...not one accident!! I know you gotta love that one. I do like to lay on the couch and if mom wants me off, she comes over says Hi...pats me on the head, takes me off and tells me what a good boy I am. I also am VERY good at going in my crate. Mom gets a couple of cookies and says "Walker crate" and in I go and the cookies follow....ok ok so I try to get out by banging on the dorr...mom says "NO Walker" and I usually stop. I would love to be able to sleep on a dog bed next to you at night like the others do but mom says there are too many of us. Please if you have a sister or brother for me to play with and that fenced yard I love so much, let my foster mommy know you want me. Hope to hear from you soon, Love and sloppy kisses to all, Walker. 6/24/03 - Walker continues to do well here in my home and wants to know why he hasn't left yet. He is asking for a fenced yard to run, a four legged sibling to play with and a family with lots of love. He is a super dog that just wants to go home. Please think about this boy for your family today. Walker has been playing with my dogs with no issues. Actually my 2 yr old female snapped at him a few times and he backs right away...no aggression at all from him. Definitely no cats for this boy though. He certainly would like one for dinner. Again Walker is a great boy house trained and all. Please send in your app on him today. Thanks 6/15/03 - Walker has come to the Guardian Angel Boxer Haven for some evaluation. He arrived here 2 days ago and acts like he has been here forever. He is getting along well with the 4 other females in the home with no issues. He is very obedient and actually comes when you call him...not many boxers like to do that when they are playing. We are looking for another home for Walker. Walker tells me he wants a home with a fenced in yard and another boxer to play with. That is what will make him very happy. If you have that type of home and boxer experience, this is the boy for you..he is a great dog. Stay tuned for further updates..... 4/3/03 - Well Walker had his vet check last night and he got an overall clean bill of health, heartworm negative. Everyone there was telling him how handsome he is, and he was just eating up all the attention. He is such a goof, we had to stop at the store for a minute on our way back from the vets and when we came out Walker was sitting in the drivers seat looking all serious, so cute. He absolutely loves going for rides. He is just a great dog, so handsome, completely house and crate trained, healthy, loveable, intelligent, well mannered, strong and playful. Walker is anxiously waiting to hear from you - today !! 3/30/03 - Snow again ?? Are you kidding ?? That's the look Walker had on his face this morning at 6am !! But he loved romping around out there in the snow for a few minutes. Good news - Walker is relaxing more now, he's not stalking the cats thru the basement door as much, and seeking more attention from the family. He is becoming quite the velcro dog - he's always following me from room to room and either sleeping at my feet or sitting in my lap. He has a very good appetite but still appears to be a bit thin, I'll have to cook him a good Sunday dinner this afternoon to fatten him up some. Tuesday he is scheduled to have a check up at the vets, update to follow. 3/28/03 - Walker attended Obedience training with us last night. He does already know several commands well, but he definitely needed the socialization. He was so excited about being in a room full of dogs, he did eventually calm down after about 20 minutes and started participating. I have to stress that he is extremely strong on the leash and we're working with him to correct that with use of a prong collar, he is responding very well to that. He is a very good natured boy, so smart, and he has that sweet look in his eyes that tells you just how much he really aims to please. He loves to play tug with his rope and is always bringing me a ball - Walker is a great catcher ! 3/24/03 - Walker has arrived and he is Awesome. What a handsome boy he is. He knows several commands and is incredibly well mannered. He loves to play ball and go for rides in the car. He definitely does NOT like Cats, so we are keeping them separated but it's driving him crazy. Walker is completely house and crate trained. He is crated when I'm working with a break and walk during the lunch hour, but he would prefer to not be left home alone much at all. He is very strong on the leash and we're working on that. He is fine with children, but because he is so powerful I would suggest a forever home without small children. He is good with other dogs. Walker is a love bug, but has no idea what a big boy he is and still loves to sit in my lap and shower us all with lots of wet kisses. This is one great boxer boy and I'm sure that he will find a great home very soon. 3/20/03 - I would like to introduce our new Foster named Walker. He is a 3 year old Flashy Fawn. He is the happiest boxer you will ever see. He is very energetic and just loves attention. Walker is an owner surrender who came to BAR last night. He went right into his crate without any problems. However, today he got out of the crate several times and we still can't figure out how he opened the door on a vari kennel. He is very smart that's for sure. We did introduce Walker to our cats today and he did want to chase them. I am not sure if he likes cats as he definitely wanted to go after them. He was very good with my daughter and his owners said he is very good with other dogs. He does jump up on you whenever you are see him so I know he will need training in that area. We are only the temporary foster home so Walker will be getting introduced to other dogs in a few days. If you want a happy, bouncy boxer that just loves to give kisses this is the one for you. He is a sweet boy and a really handsome one too. |
