03/16/03  - Samantha & Carrie have been with us 3 months now and we are so happy to have them as part of our family. They have grown alot - Carrie(the younger one 10 months old) seems to be bypassing her sister Samantha(15 months old) in size. They both weigh about the same-50 lbs but Carrie is taller and broader than Sami. They are both very active & love running around the backyard chasing each other/wrestling with each other & trying to catch te birds & sqirrels. They love going out for rides in our van. They aren't afraid anymore like they were when they first came to us(they would shake alot) - but that is over. They are secure knowing when we go somewhere they are coming back to our home. The girls have a standard appointment at the groomer(once a month)-they get shampooed/nails cut/etc. They don't mind at all. They go right in & when we pick them up Sami seems to really flaunt her new neckerchief they get when they are done. She struts around with it on the whole day (Carrie doesn't like it around her neck so we take hers off pretty quick). Two weeks ago we had our granddaughter Lillian(8 months old) come and stay with us for a week. Her mom and dad went on vacation. They live in New Hampshire & the girls have't seen Lillian before her stay with us. When Lillian first came she cried when she saw them - so we spaced out the time they spent together the first day-exposing them to each other a little at a time. Samantha & Carrie were very curious about this little beauty who came to visit. They wanted to take care of her-mothering her alot - licking her ears/her feet & hands. When Lillian was in the high chair she loved to put her hands over the side and play with Sami and Carrie. She laughed when they would kiss her hands. Whenever Lillian woke up, Samantha would come by me to get my attention & go right to the stairs that lead to where the baby was sleeping. They would both follow me & get so excited when they would see Lillian. Considering they are babies too, they were really so good with her.

1/23/03 - SAMI AND CARI ARE BOTH DOING FINE. CARI WAS SPAYED IN DECEMBER AND ALL WENT WELL. WE HATED TO LEAVE HER AT THE VET BUT SHE REALLY DID GREAT. WHEN WE WENT TO PICK HER UP THE FOLLOWING DAY THE STAFF WAS COMPLIMENTING WHAT A SWEET GIRL SHE IS!! AND SHE IS - THEY BOTH ARE. SAMANTHA IS SO MATURE FOR HER AGE. SHE LISTENS SO GREAT AND ALMOST NEVER CHEWS ON ANYTHING OTHER THEN HER TOYS(AND THEY BOTH HAVE PLENTY OF THOSE) CARI LOVES TO CHECK EVERYTHING OUT. THIS MORNING WHILE I WAS GETTING READY FOR WORK I FOUND HER CHEWING ON ONE OF MY BIRTHDAY CARDS-SHE IS A CHARACTER WITH THE BEST PERSONALITY. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW HAPPY WE ARE WITH THE TWO OF THEM. THEY LOVE TO RUN AND PLAY TOGETHER AND OF COURSE WRESTLE IN THE YARD. AND AT NIGHT THEY LOVE SNUGGLING UP WITH US.(A COUPLE OF BED HOGS) THEY ARE GETTING USED TO THE VAN NOW. WHEN WE FIRST GOT THEM THEY WOULD SHAKE WHEN WE TOOK THEM IN THE VAN - NOW THEY ARE SO MUCH MORE RELAXED. THEY JUST SIT AND LOOK AT THE WINDOW. WE WERE HAPPY THEY KNOW THEY ARE COMING HOME WITH US AND THEY ARE PART OF OUR FAMILY. EVERYDAY WE LOVE THESE TWO MORE AND MORE. I ALWAYS CALL THEM MY "ANGEL GIRLS" AND THEY ARE !!!

12/8/02 - Tomorrow will be one week since we picked up Carrie and Samantha & brought them home. They are such beautiful baby girls & we are enjoying them very much. They were a little nervous on the way home - but we kept reassuring them everything would be fine and that we are going to give them a good home and lots of love. They really stole our hearts - our friends and neighbors have come by to see our new addition to the family. They love the attention and are just so friendly to everyone. They are so well behaved - we're amazed!! We had our first snow storm here on Long Island and the girls had so much fun running like crazy through the snow. Yesterday we took them to the groomer - they got a bath & their nails cut. When we got home they went through the entire house as if they needed reassurance that this IS their home. Once they did that we all went outside and played. They are already house trained. We do keep a close eye on them and make sure they go out quite often since they are both very young and not really used to us yet / but so far no problems. We feel very lucky to have gotten them. It's the first time we ever had two dogs so we are getting used to that but what we used to do for one we now do for two!! They sleep like rocks---typical boxer - spread out, sigh (love that), and at times snore a little & when they get up they make sure the whole house is up. (I think that is a boxer trait too) our boy boxer Sonny used to make sure he jumped on each one of us when he woke up so we would be up too. Well I think that is it for now. I will keep you updated on Carrie and Samantha (my husband & I were saying today that they look like they've grown already!!???) I'd like to add that Dawn was very nice to us - we spoke on the phone a number of times about Carrie and Samantha & how they were doing before we actually could get there to pick them up. Her boxer boys are very handsome!!

12/03/02 - Cari and Sami have been adopted.

12/01/02 - Well guys today is December 1, 2002, and Samantha & Cari will be meeting their adoptive parents tomorrow!!! HOORRAAYY!! I think that my whole family fell hard for these two beauties. They are absolutely the sweetest things on the planet. Their "Forever" home has received one incredibly "Blessed" gift of a lifetime with these girls. Samantha has become "Sam I Am" (Dr. Seuss) and Cari has become "Care Bear". Their new parents thought these were cute nicknames that my girls gave them. What wonderful telephone conversations we have been having. I already feel like I know these nice people. They have bought so many new nice things in anticipation of the girls, that the pups will think they died and went to Heaven!! Well, we will talk tomorrow after the girls leave, and before I have my big crying jag! Bye.

11/25/02 - Cari and Sami are pending adoption together!
HELLOOOOOOOO!! Sorry update is longer than I would have wanted, but computer went to the "Rainbow Bridge"!! But now we are back on track and I have to say that these two puppies are sOOOOOO awesome! They perfectly compliment each other - one reserved and one quite daring. They are so sweet and love cuddling. Today we were outside raking leaves and Sammi, Cari, Heaven & Dozer were strategically watching my girls jump in the leaves, then all of a sudden it was like a wild stampede and WHOOSH! All four puppies were running through the piles. It was funny you would see them run, then they would disappear in the piles and then you would suddenly see them emerge out the other side! These two I wish could be mine, but in all fairness to Heaven & Dozer as well as Sammi & Cari, they need their own home so they can get twice the amount of loving they get here. They NEVER cry! They get crated when we need to go out for a period of time, otherwise they are always like the rest of the family free to roam. They love to play, especially with furry squeaky toys and Cari is especially fond of a Nylarbone that she brought here with her. Sammi tries to get ahold of it, but then all chaos breaks out because it becomes a game of catch me if you can! They have not once shown any kind of odd behavior with my girls, and they are together with the puppies and my girls 24/7. They sleep with either the girls or my husband and I, whomever gets the bed first!! Sammi eats better with canned food mixed with her dry food, and Cari just likes to eat! These pups play great together, so it is wonderful that they get placed together, instant playmates and Sammi being a little cautious likes having Cari to feel things out first and then she joins in. Puppies like these come only once in a lifetime, and imagine some lucky family will be fortunate enough to get two at once, boy I hope Santa is watching these two, they deserve LOTS of toys and love. So that's it for now, thanks for tolerating our lack of silence, but these darned computers!!

11/15/02 - Hello everybody!! Today is Friday November 15, 2002, and we need to apologize for not writing sooner with another update, but we have been enjoying the life out of these delightful girls!!!! They are the sweetest girls ever. Both have their own personalities; Cari is the instigator and playful one, have a toy, sock, etc., add another dog or skin kid, and she is non-stop until she drops!! Her bark is a riot, small puppy with large bark when she wants someone to play with her. Potty trained, eats WELL :), and goes in the crate. Loves to run around outside and play with Heaven, Dozer, Samantha and skin kids. She eats up all the attention you can give her. Next is Samantha, Ohhh how I am loving her sooooooo much. She is needing of lots of gentle assurances from skin kids and adults. She is more reserved and LOVES to sit and cuddle with people. She sits and watches the other puppies play, and then she sneaks in and steals whatever they have and gets them to chase her. She likes running around outside quite a bit, reminds me of the energizer bunny !! She has finally started eating better, I think, like people, she was so nervous over the immense transition they are going through, that she did not eat the first day, on the second, a few nibbles, and on the third day, with my gourmet doggie delights, she started eating, she does better with small meals of mixed with canned foods. I love this dog...one of the kindest hearted animals I have ever encountered. Both are crated together, however, when they are loose, which is most of the time without any problems, both girls do their own thing. Someone will never know how fortunate they are to adopt these girls, if my heart was not set on helping other needy boxers, they would never leave this house!!!

11/11/02 - These two "sisters" are mirror images of each other! It is remarkable since they are three months difference in age. They have the most remarkable dispositions I have ever encountered, thus showing they were immensely loved by their prior owner. Special thanks to all involved in their transports, without all of you remarkable people these beautiful girls would never know the life that is awaiting them now!! They have only been crated the first 45 minutes here, the rest of the time they immediately started running around and playing with Heaven & Dozer (8 months) and no issues whatever. They ate and drank, are potty trained, and will go into the crate, together, with a bit of coaching and a treat inside!! Even my husband has commented on how exceptional they are, and he does not give compliments often, if you women know what I mean :)) They are petite in size, but that does not stop them from typical boxer butt shaking, playing and sloppy sloppy kisses!! Keep on looking for pictures, they are cute, cute, cute!!

11/10/02 - Puppies Cari and Samantha have arrived in Boxer Angels Rescue.  Stay turned for updates.
