Pertinent Information 11/14/03 - Well, we are about two weeks early with Sasha’s 1 year update, but today was a special day for our girl. Today is Sasha’s 2nd birthday! We had special doggie birthday cake and a candle. The year has gone by so fast, and it is unbelievable, when you really think about it, that she has only been here that long. It feels like she’s been with us forever. She and Buddy get along like they were meant to be together. Her personality has not changed a bit. She is still crazy as ever. Sometimes when we bring the dogs for walks in the woods, she runs around, top speed, crashing through bushes without a care in the world. Kevin and I laugh so hard sometimes, we are hunched over holding our stomachs with tears rolling down our faces. She is world’s best snuggle bug, and world’s best kisser. We can’t imagine our home without her. 8/22/03 - Well, Sasha has been in out lives for 9 months now. It’s unbelievable how time flies! This has been quite the summer for this baby girl. For starters, she broke her toe in June. A month and a half, and 5 casts later (oh yes, we had pink, blue, red, purple, and green), she finally healed. We had my cousins over from Illinois who are 15 and 17. Sasha just LOVED the attention she got from them. She would go in each of their rooms and wake them up in the morning. When they left, she would still go into their rooms looking for them. She just loves giving kisses too. Once in a while, she’ll get you when you’re off guard and get that little tongue in your mouth! She has gained 10 pounds since we got her in November, and I think she has even grown a little too. She sleeps in bed with us all every night. By all, I mean Kevin and I plus Buddy (her 90 pound Boxer brother). Yes, I get pushed off the bed every now and then, but I just love having them close to me! She is just a little gem. I can not explain how much we love this little pumpkin. I can’t imagine life without her! 5/21/03 - Sasha here with my 6 month update. WOW-did I say 6 months? It feels like I have been here my entire life, and boy is life good! I am so spoiled in my house. Mom and Dad just love me to pieces, and by brother Buddy is my best pal in the whole world. I might be half his size, but I sure whip his butt when we play! Mom and Dad have so many crazy nicknames for me like Sashe, She She, Chooches, Punkin, Cha Che, and the list goes on and on. It’s funny, but I still answer to all of them. I graduated Family Manners class not too long ago. I did really well. Not to brag or anything, but I even overheard Mom say the other day that I listen better than Buddy does. Ha ha. Mom bakes for us all the time. Mmmmm, I love her doggie muffins she makes. I always catch Dad eating them though! Mom made Buddy a birthday cake and we had a party for his birthday last month. We wore Scooby party hats and sang Happy Birthday. Mom promised me a birthday party when I celebrate my next birthday. My birthday had already passed when Mom and Dad adopted me. But that’s okay, now I have something to really look forward to. Another favorite part of the day is bedtime. We all snuggle in the bed together at night. Dad says I keep him warm when it gets cold. Mom said I pushed her off the bed the other night. I didn’t mean to, but she didn’t mind. Oh yeah, Dad built a huge doghouse, or should I say palace for Buddy & me. We love it. We get presents all the time too. Whenever Mom comes home with bags, we sniff through them because we just know that she got us something. So, you can see, life is great for me. Thanks BAR, for helping me find my for ever and ever home. 2/23/03 - It’s unbelievable that Sasha has been in our lives for only 3 short months. It feels like she has been a part of our family forever. She is doing just super. We have begun obedience training with both her and Buddy. The class we are attending is called “Family Manners. ” She is doing great. This week’s homework is practicing the sit/stay position, as well as leash walking. She has improved so much! This past week was interesting with all the snow. We got so much (2 feet +) she could barley get through, but she sure loved it! Now with the rain –well, that’s an entire different story. She HATES it (as all boxers do)! We also took a trip to the vet this week for her rabies booster vaccination. Dr. Santee and the staff just love Sasha. He said that if he could make a video to show families how their pets should behave at the vet’s office, Sasha would be the star of that video. Oh, and by the way, she now weighs 48 healthy pounds! And yes, she still has her twirling ritual every night before bed. Crazy dog! We can’t thank BAR enough for this little pumpkin. 1/23/03 - So it’s been two months that Sasha has been with us. She is just such a wonderful happy-go-lucky little girl. We nicknamed her Spaz. She is so wacky and crazy. I can’t believe how much energy this little peanut has! She runs circles around Buddy and our current guest Max. When one gets tired and plops down to rest, she runs over to the other. This goes back and forth all night long. We noticed a funny little quirk about Sasha though. Whenever she finally does decide to rest, she twirls around and around in a circle until it’s just right for her to plop down. Now I know most dogs do this, but we have actually counted how many twirls she’ll make; so far the most has been 26 spins!! It is the funniest thing to watch, and she goes through this ritual every single time! Sometimes stopping in between to try to fluff up the bed with her paws and change spinning direction. She is such a sweet little girl. Her BatGirl ears just get so much attention from everyone that comes to the house. They may be big, but they sure add to her character! We just love her so much! Please pardon the cliché (I’m blond myself), but I swear she was a real dizzy blond in a past life. 12/24/02 - Well, it has been one month since Princess Sasha has come to her forever and ever home. She is doing so well! She and our other boxer Buddy have bonded like I have never expected. They are absolutely in love. Whenever one needs to leave for the vet, the other cries and whines running around the house looking for the other. We are all so happy! Sasha needed to go the the vet the other day for a 2nd Lyme vaccination. At the same time I dropped off a urine sample because she has been drinking and "going" excessively. We got a call back to bring her in again for blood work and another urine sample. We were all so worried, and I, of course, was crying. We got good news though; the next day when the Dr. called and said she is as healthy as a horse- no kidney or liver troubles, but the poor baby does have a UTI :(. She is on medication for ten days, and it should clear up. The Doc said that would be the cause for her drinking and going. She continues to get many many compliments wherever we go. People just can't believe she is a rescue dog. Her eyes are just so deep and tell a story. We'll keep you posted on this little girl. Thank you BAR!!! You have made our lives that much richer! 12/02/02 - I just got back from the vet with
Sasha for her wellness check up. 11/25/02 - Greetings from the Come & Go Boxer Bungalow. Well, things sure are awfully quiet this morning. Sasha went home with her Forever Family, Kevin & Dina, on Sunday morning. They drove all the way from CT with their boxer, Buddy, to pick up the newest member of their family. When they arrived, I opened the door and Sasha bolted outside. She's never done that before. She has always waited to be hooked to her cable. Sasha jumped right into the arms of her new Mommy and showered her with kisses. She then met Buddy and Kevin and it was instant love for all. Poor Sasha was so excited she was jumping all over them and licking Kevin's glasses. I have no doubt that Sasha has finally found her true Forever Home. Dina e-mailed last evening and said that they absolutely love Sasha and they can't believe how tiny she is. Another match made in heaven. Way to go Boxer Angels Rescue. 11/22/02 - Sasha is pending adoption. 11/21/02 - Greetings from Sasha! I sure am having a great time at the Come & Go Boxer Bungalow. The resident boxers have formally accepted me into the family. My foster Mommy said that I have a "vet appointment" on Friday afternoon and then I will be ready for my Forever Home. She told me that the lucky family has found me and that I will be going home very soon. I can't wait to have a family of my own who will keep me forever. I don't want to be confused anymore, I just want someone to love. What's not to love? I play well with other dogs and alone, let you know when I have to go potty, like strangers, and am a snuggle bug. I know I need to work on the jumping thing but once I attend obedience I will be the perfect doggy! I am much better with the kitties now. In fact, Daddy let me up on the bed this morning for a cuddle session (he's not as mean as he thinks he is!) and the kitty came to join us. I even licked him in the face. I don't know if he liked that or not but Mommy was happy with me. I haven't ruined anything in the house, am eating 2 cups of food twice a day, and play with EVERY toy in the house. Mommy said that she will send some of them home with me when the resident boxers aren't looking. I hope my new family is reading this because I would like to drop a hint....I REALLY love a stuffed dog from the Big Dog store that barks at me. I play with it for hours. It sure would make a nice Christmas present. Maybe Doggy Santa will give one to me. I really appreciate everything that Boxer Angels Rescue has done for me. They gave me an opportunity for a new life. Lord only knows what would have happened to me if it wasn't for BAR. I'll never forget you. Love, Sasha 11/19/02 - Hi everybody! It's me, Sasha. I'm settled into my foster home now and I am having so much fun with the resident boxers. They are 5 and 12. My foster Mommy went to sleep around 11 last evening and Daddy was watching football. They have this HUGE bin of dog toys that I just love. It's like being at Walt Disney World. When Mommy got up this morning, all the toys were in the bedroom. That's about 50+ toys. She picked them all up but I made sure they were out again by the time she finished with her shower. I'm doing well with the resident fur balls (there are 3 of them) and the kitten really likes to tease me through the baby gate. I wag my tail when I see him and I like to chase him but I would never hurt him. I stop chasing him as soon as Mommy tells me to. Mommy says that I am a really good girl, the perfect dog in fact. I'm very little, completely housebroken, ask to go outside, like the cable run, and eat my dinner (I like it with yogurt though.) She says that my fur is velvet soft. I play non-stop but once I'm told it's bedtime, I curl right up on my bed and sleep through the night. We usually go outside once around 3 a.m. because the 12 year old resident boxer can't hold it all night. I go right back to bed without any fuss. Wouldn't you consider being my Forever Home? I hope I hear from you soon. Love, Sasha 11/18/02 - The Come & Go Boxer Bungalow welcomed a new guest yesterday. Her name is Sasha and she is a 1 year old spayed female. She is fawn in color and is "flashy" meaning she has a white band around her neck, feet, and a black and white mask. She has cropped ears and a docked tail. If you're looking for a petite baby girl, she's the one for you! I think the vet that cropped her ears expected her to be larger than what she is. She is quite skinny so we will work on getting her fattened up. The night I picked her up, I made homemade banana bread. I could tell from her actions that she was quite interested in what I was making. So, I gave her a very small piece of banana. Oh my! She LOVES bananas. That tail was going a hundred miles a minutes. She is a very happy dog but is a little scared when she meets strangers. She quickly warms to them. Sasha is house trained, crate trained, and walks on the dog run without a problem. During the night, she will let you know if she has to go to the bathroom by pawing at your face. I guess that's better than having an accident! She plays well with other dogs and I would like to see her go to a home who can exercise her and allow her to have a playmate. She's your typical puppy who likes to play and run. She met a cat for the first time last night and did quite well considering she wasn't sure what it was. She responds well to "No. Leave kitty" and a spray from the water bottle. Her only "habit" is that she has a tendency to jump on people so we're working on that and she responds well with a couple squirts of water. Sasha comes from a family that had a 6 year old child. She will be seeing the vet this week to get her shots up to date and then she'll be ready to go. Be sure to get your applications in today! This girl won't be here for long... |
