I know I am not on
top of the updates but feel that since I am on reading about others I
should throw a quick note in. We just got in a few minutes ago from our
walk. Now she just has her head on my lap and is getting her loving in.
I'm sure in not too long she will be back on her couch-that is what I
call it now because I rarely sit on it and she always lays there. The
only other spot she frequents indoors is the hall floor outside the
bathroom when I'm in the shower.
She was sleeping in my bed but has been remaining on the couch during
the night recently. Though I can still hear her snoring from out there!!
:)
Sash is a great addition to the family. I am going to attempt to load
photos to the site of her. I have a cute one with her and one of the cat
a curled up on the couch together and of course some of her with my
girls (human). She is the only dog in the house at this time though I
was skimming the available boxers on the site and wondering how she
would like another boxer in the house. She is going to be 6 soon and I
was wondering if a senior boxer or someone her age would be a good
match. When she has the opportunity she loves to play with other
dogs. When we were walking tonight we walked past a dog and she was all
excited. Though when they walk by the house she barks and her fur sticks
up on her hind end. Now a stranger could knock on the door and ring the
doorbell and not a peep!

- Sasha is doing great! Now that the weather is improving we are walking
again at night. I'm sure that it is a funny sight sometimes as I am
attempting to push a stroller and hold the leash. She walks really well
and obeys when we are out. If we encounter another dog she wants to stop
and visit.
We have a new cat in the house-2 days ago. She did the same thing that
initially went on when I brought her home-the jumping and barking. I
think she's hoping that this is a new playmate. I will admit that it did
not intimidate the cat but he surely did not want to play with her.
Last night we were on the couch and the cat was on one side of me with
his head on my lap and Sash was on the other with her head on my lap
both sleeping. So it is going great it is just too bad because you could
tell she was hoping for a playmate!

- Sasha is doing great-she is currently sitting next to me with her head
on my lap. I have to admit there have been some recent changes in our
household and I have not been able to walk her as frequently so she has
put a few pounds on. She sleeps with me almost every night (though last
night she was curled up with my older daughter and one of the cats in my
daughter's twin bed-tight fit!) and pretty much is laying at my feet if I
am somewhere else in the house. Though there are times that she is simply
curled up on the couch when I am busy doing things.
5/26/04 - Sasha is doing wonderful
in our home. She has adjusted very well and initially she was very eager
to play with the cats who wanted no part of it. She now has realized that
the cats have no
interest in playing so there is only the rare occasion that a cat comes
running past with Sasha right
behind!
She loves the children and is just so well behaved. Every evening she has
her time that she wants
to play so we do that around 9 or 10. I am a night owl and like to stay
active so around 11pm
Sasha and I go out and walk 2 1/2 miles and both get some exercise and she
gets all of her business
done before bed time.
The first day or two there were a few accidents in the house but there
have been none since. I
attribute that to adjusting to our home and us adjusting to her and
looking for her signs to go out.
We are so happy with Sasha and thankful to BAR for taking the time and
placing the newest member of our family with us!
5/1/04 - Sasha has been adopted.
4/23/04 - Sasha is pending adoption
4/6/04
- Sasha is settling in very nicely...She has met the resident dogs, and
everything went very well. She's been mostly interested in the
children, but today she did her first "play bow" with our boy, Caesar!
What a site!
She spends the day while foster mom is at work in the crate, where she is
a very good girl (though she would rather be lounging on the couch!), so
foster mom lets her spend her evenings sleeping alternately with the skin
kids in the home. She's a very good girl outside the crate, we've
had a
few accidents (never in the crate), but the humans are having a hard time
picking up Sasha's signals to go out, so it's not entirely her fault. :o)
This should resolve itself once we all get to know each other better.
Sasha takes treats nicely, even from our 5.5 year old girl, and has no
issues with her food bowl. I've played with her paws, rolled her
onto her back to rub her belly, checked her ears and teeth and, as long as
she gets some lovin', she's fine with it. :o)
She's well behaved on leash, enough so that our 12 year old can walk her
in the yard. Also, Sasha knows how to jump up and open push handle
screen doors.....The girls were getting their things in the car for school
this morning and, lo and behold, they turned around to find Sasha sitting
patiently for her turn to get in the car! After each blaming the other for
'letting the rescue out', the eldest put her back inside, only to be
amazed that Sasha jumped up, opened the door and came right back out to
her.... What a character! She was quite disappointed that she
couldn't be our
youngest's 'show and tell' item today. :o) Big doors are
ALWAYS shut around Sasha, now...no more screen doors!
Sasha's attachment to the children leaves little doubt that she would make
a wonderful family pet......
4/3/04 - Meet Sasha, one of BAR's
newest members! She was surrendered to a shelter by her owner, who
could not keep her any longer and evidently didn't know about rescue.
She's a sweetheart of a girl and not too bad on the eyes, either--check
out her pictures! She was a bit nervous in the beginning, as they tend to
be. But she wagged her tail upon meeting me and let me lift her into
my Explorer without a problem. I watched her visibly relax when I
opened the front door of our home and my two daughters came into view.
She walked in like she's always been here and paid little mind to all the
new smells, interested only in getting attention from the kids...typical
Boxer!
She's eaten her dinner and been out to potty a few times. She's been
playful and very well behaved on our trips outside. She walks nicely
on the leash, being very mindful of the human on the other end.
We're going to take it very slow on this sweet girl, since she's been
through so much the last two weeks with her time at the shelter and her
spay.
After she's had some time to settle in, we'll introduce her to our boys
and let you all know how it goes. Keep your eye on Sasha!
