4/15/05 - Bruno has officially been adopted

2/10/05 - Bruno came to us from a home where he was alone for most of the day. The owner did not feel that was fair and sadly gave Bruno up. Because of the long periods alone he needs some of the basic training. He has been with us for about 5 days. In that time he has mastered the sit command. He is still working on stay, come, and down. Bruno was reported to be difficult on the leash - that was true. We have been taking him on daily walks and he is definitely improving. His habit of sitting in protest during the walk is going away. When he sits we encourage him to move with a treat rather than trying to pull him. He is responding very well to this technique. Bruno is not 100% housebroken yet, but we are working on it by keeping him on a schedule. So far there have only been a couple of accidents.

Bruno is definitely an Alpha male. He is very aggressive when he plays and sometimes he doesn't like to listen. When he met Jack, the neighbor's Black Lab/Chow mix, he thought he would be the dominant dog - Jack quickly cleared up this misconception. After that, they happily played for the next 90 minutes.

Despite the challenges Bruno is a joy to have around. He is a lot of fun, and recently discovered his vocal abilities during a play session. Despite his desire to be the Alpha male he does not have food aggression. He is good in the crate but prefers sleeping on the bed. Bruno is very smart, and we anticipate he will quickly learn the ropes.

2/9/05 - Bruno is pending adoption after his initial 2 week mandatory evaluation period with BAR.

2/6/05 - Bruno is a young guy who has already had 2 homes in his short life time.  He is cute as can be, but needs a firm hand and training.  He is your typical energetic young male Boxer.
