Oscar “Bubba” - At Rainbow Bridge 5/6/2011

We adopted Oscar from Boxer Angel Rescue in June 2005.  Our son was 4 and our daughter was only 22 months old.  We had some hesitation because Oscar was full of energy but knew that we could make this work for our family.  After a few months of consistent training and lots of love, of course, Oscar – soon nicknamed Bubba - turned out to be the perfect addition to our lives.  His favorite pastime was running around in the backyard with the kids with his favorite ball hanging out of his under bite.  Always full of kisses and wiggles, and he always had something to say to us.  He talked boxer to us often with his whines and barks and squeaks.  Quite the character and quirky is what we always called our boy.

Unfortunately, our time together was cut short.  Way too short.  Two months ago Bubba was diagnosed with lymphoma very unexpectedly, and we decided not to go the chemo route, rather steroids, so as to give him better quality of life for the time he had with us.  And our last 60 days together were perfect.  He went back to his usual quirkyness and acted like the Bubba we knew and loved.  We cherished every moment we had with him and spoiled, SPOILED him rotten.  He got more hugs and kisses, more treats and goodies, and hopefully felt our full love for him.  Then on May 4th, 2011, things took a turn for the worse.  Bubba was real slow getting up in the morning and from there, it went downhill.  Within 24 hours, he was having trouble walking.  By that night, we were having to carry him outside and up and down the stairs.  We knew it was time.

We said our goodbyes to our Bubba at 12:30 AM on Friday, May 6, 2011.  As heartbreaking as it was and still is for us, we know he is running around at the Rainbow Bridge, making friends, and wiggling.  He was the perfect dog for our family and will never be forgotten by anybody that met him along the way.

Rest easy, Bubba.  You’re in our hearts forever.

5/28/05 - Oscar went to his new home today and he will be one very very happy baby boy!! Momma was headed out with him to Petco so he could pick his own toys, collar and leash.
He already had a brand new crate with a super nice bed in it and lots of toys waiting!!

5/23/05 - Oscar is pending adoption

5/15/0 5 - This foster mom has been extremely bad at updating her fosters lately and I am so very sorry.
Oscar is a GREAT little boy!! He is totally house trained. I have a doggie door and he comes and goes as he pleases and has a wonderful time. He does have to go a lot so I would love to see him go to a home with a dog door for him going into a fenced back yard.
He just loves his toys and plays with them constantly. He gets along well with the other dogs in the home for the most part...every once in a while we will have a squabble...that is when timeout happens.
Oscar is on a special diet, Science Diet KD only way to get this is through your vet....the price is approx 30.00 for a 20# bag. This is for his kidneys. I am awaiting the results of his blood work this week and will report on what we have found. He does seem to be doing well on this food.
I can go out for a couple of hours at this point and come home to a dry crate which I could not do at first. He can not go much longer then that due to his kidneys not working properly.
Oscar is a super boy and loves people, kids, and is fine with my cats as well. Please consider him for your home.

4/9/05 - This little cutie arrived here on Tuesday evening the 5th of April....and all I can say is Oh My God!!! He is just to to cute!! He is small and under weight so needs beefing up but those teeth...the way they stick out on the bottom...he is just soooooo adorable. Oscar is your TYPICAL boxer pup!! FULL of energy and life...he LOVES to run around with a toy in his mouth at all times..the one he is playing with in the pictures is his absolute favorite...doesn't bother with the others. He goes in the crate with no problems but will pee in there...he is not house broken..we are working on it as we go along...he is a puppy and needs lots of training...it will be MANDATORY for Oscar to attend obedience training in his new home....no ifs, ands, buts or ors about it so you must be committed to obedience and housetraining this pup. He is good with the other dogs but will definitely need to be kept well socialized as well as I can see him becoming a dominant dog if not around other dogs continuously. He runs after the cats but not to hurt them...just to play chase. He eats well and does go poop outside...not in his crate..thank god for small favors :o)) I am sure he will find a home quickly...if interested in him or a pup like him you need to get an application in and go through our process so when a pup enters rescue you will be ready as there are usually others waiting for pups as well. We do not place on a first come first served basis...we place the dog in a home that is best suited for them and their activity levels, training, ability to do well with people and pets...so on and so forth..so get those apps in.
