6/21/06 - We adopted Luna in on April 9th and I apologize for not giving an update sooner.  I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer (2nd occurrence), and was busy with surgery and treatment the last 3 months.  However Luna proved to have a great calming effect on Rocky, our 3yr old male Boxer.  The first week was rough and we had to put away all toys...they both were ball obsessive.
However by week two they were inseparable and played like boxer siblings..it was amazing how well they bonded.  We are thankful for our little LUNAtic.....we think that was here real given name and they
shortened it to LUNA before she was given to BAR.   She is all puppy, but doing very well with commands.
I have included some pictures of both Rocky & Luna.  Hope you enjoy them.  Thank you again.
Michelle & Chad...and Rocky & Luna too.

4/9/06 - Luna left for her forever home today.  Her mom and dad opened the back of the SUV and she jumped right in as if she new where she was going...maybe she did know.  She has a fur brother Rocky waiting at home for her.

This is only our second foster. Of course, it's hard to watch them go, but both of the families who have adopted our fosters have been just wonderful. Perfect.  It's easier to wave goodbye knowing BAR has found each of them just the right family.

4/1/06 - Luna is pending adoption

3/30/06 - Luna continues to do well here.  Today Eric brought her up to one of the rehab/skilled nursing facilities were I work to meet everyone. She wiggled right up to people in wheelchairs and using walkers.  With our constant supervision, she did not put her paws up into chairs unless invited.  Everyone "ooohed" and "aaaahed" at her sweet face, her energy and her comics.  Tennis balls are often cut open and placed on the rubber ends of walkers to help them slide along on the floor.  Luna immediately spotted a walker across the room with balls on the legs and, had she been given the opportunity, would have tried all night to get them off.  She would look at the balls, paw at them gently, and then look at us...puzzled?.  "Don't they know, that's not what tennis balls are for."

Luna is doing wonderful in the crate.  She never paws or jumps anymore and only whines if she needs to go outside early in the morning.  We have had no accidents in... I can't remember when the last one was.  Walking on the lead continues to need more work.  She does pretty good when it's just me and her, but seems to try to pull more when I have all three dogs.

She is just a beauty.  Looking at her with our boxers, she looks so small (or ours look big.)  She reminds us of a ballerina.  Strength, athleticism, and grace in a small young lady. But of course she is also full of your typical boxer antics.  Keep checking on this very special girl.

3/27/06 - Hi, this is Luna.  I am starting to feel better and coughing less.  My foster parents are super proud of how well I do in my crate.  I hardly ever cry at all when they put me in my crate. I'm learning the routine. When we wake up in the morning we all go for a walk.  Sometimes I need a little reminder to stay close and keep a loose leash, but my foster mom says I'm doing better.  I really enjoy my walks with my foster family.  After our walk, we have breakfast.  The food here is good and I hear I'm filling out nicely.  Twice this past week my foster parents missed it when I tried to tell them that I needed to go out and potty.  Only two accidents in over a week...we're doing good.

This week I was introduced to the "doggie door."  This thing is great!  I can chase my foster siblings in and out until my foster parents say "that's enough." I really thought it would be fun to bring rocks and sticks into the house, but my foster parents said those things are to stay outside.  I'm not sure why they don't like rocks in the house, but I'm going to try real hard to remember that because I love to make my them proud of me. This is a great place, but I can't wait to meet my forever family.  I want to show you all the things I've learned.  You have to love to snuggle... dogs or humans ...I love snuggling!

3/19/06 - It hasn't been the same here at the Bronson's house of boxers the last couple of days.  Luna and our two boxers, Buster and Zarah all have upper respiratory infections.  As I mentioned before, Luna loves to snuggle.  Since she hasn't felt much like playing with our younger dog Buster, she has been snuggling with our older female Zarah.  Zarah will be sleeping on a dog bed and Luna will come up on it and sit with her for a minute, then slowly wiggle her way down beside her.  Luna gives Zarah a couple minutes to get comfortable with the arrangement before nuzzling her nose into Zarah for a better snuggle. If the fireplace is on you will find all three of them playing musical dogs rotating for the warmest dog bed close to the fire.  Luna is still eating and drinking well.  We started giving everyone antibiotics today so hopefully we will all be healthy for the first weekend in spring.

3/16/06 - Luna loves people! She enjoys a good romp in the yard or "keep away" and "tag" with her foster fur siblings, but would probably rather play with you and a tennis ball.  she loves to play fetch and seems to be quickly learning "drop it" so you can throw the ball again. She is a little snuggle bug too.  Eric works at a university so he is on spring break and has spent a lot of time with her this week. I have to say she has turned out to be her foster daddy's girl.
Luna sits and waits patiently to put on her leash before a walk. During our walks in the neighborhood she has met many children of all ages. Tuesday she played a little chase in the yard with the three year old next door and yesterday she enjoyed a hug and some pats from a 1 1/2 year old and her mom.  When they saw us walking, they came out of the house to greet us.  Everyone comments on her beautiful face.
Luna is doing better with the house training. She has had only two accidents since the last update.  She didn't have one at all today!!!  The crate...well we have made a lot of progress.  She still cries, paws and jumps when she first goes in but relaxes with time.  At night she is doing much better.  She cries for while, then chews on her chill pill, a kong like toy with peanut butter in it, and finally fall asleep. She goes into crate with little encouragement now when you say "come on" and have the kong. This morning she was actually sitting in there waiting for her treat while I
crated our other two dogs! She is a smart little girl and is learning every day.

3/12/06 - Welcome are new foster girl, Luna.  She is absolutely gorgeous.  A sweet face on a very petite frame.  But don't let the petite frame fool you, there's a lot of Boxer dog in that little package.  Talk about an energizer bunny… she is ready to play, play, play.  Luna loves to play fetch.  Over an hour of chasing after a couple tennis balls wasn’t enough for this young pup. Today Luna went on several walks.  Met many of our neighbors with a wonderful wiggle.  She loves to be around people.  Seems eager to please her foster parents in typical boxer fashion.  Understands some basic commands (i.e. sit, come, off).
This morning Luna decided that she would help her foster mom mop the kitchen floor… by climbing the four foot baby gate that was keeping her out of the kitchen.  Much of Luna’s day has been spent locating toys that have been “lost” under furniture.  She found things we forgot we ever owned. We are working with Luna to house train her.  She is almost there but has had two accidents in the house.  Luna also is not crate trained (yet) but we are working with her to relax within her private space.
This is one special puppy that will make some family very happy!  Keep checking on our foster puppy Luna and her boxer adventures.
