6/25/07 - It has been one month since Jake has joined our family, and although it has been a bit of a rough start, we could not have asked for a better dog.  Jake came to us with some medical problems that we have been making progress with.  He still has accidents in the house each day and ploppy stools, but we would not trade a second of having him (even when I am mopping pee off the floor for the millionth time).  Jake just LOVES the kids in our home, which most of the time include the entire neighborhood. When he first came here he had to be taught that he was not allowed to play with the children the same way that he plays with his Boxer sister Nikkie (also adopted from BAR), and he did!  He learns everything so fast because he is such a smart boxer boy!  Soon he will begin agility training (after a little more obedience training) with his sister Nikkie.
We really do not have much information about Jake's prior history, but considering the condition he came into rescue in, I can assume he was not well cared for.  But yet it is amazing how trusting, willing to please, and just so full of love he is.  We could not possibly love him any more than we do, and only hope that he knows that he will never again have to find a forever family to call his own.

5/15/07 - Jake is a beautiful, friendly boy. I can't believe he ended up in a New York shelter. Apparently, the owner didn't know anything about the breed and their endless energy. Jake loves to play. He wrestles around the yard with my boxers and loves a game of fetch with my kids. Jake is a big snuggler too. He loves his humans and enjoys a nice cuddle in front of the TV. Anyone who gets this boy is truly blessed. He really doesn't know any commands except for sit, but I am working with him and he is a fast learner. Jake walks well on the leash. Very little pulling. He has not been destructive at all. I also am working on crating him. He really doesn't care for it too much. He does well out of the crate, but I want to be sure that he is used to it in case the family he goes to wants to use one. Jake would love to be in a family with another dog and a few kids to play with. He is such a love.  Right now, we are treating Jake for kennel cough but he will be good to go in a week or two. Pictures will follow. I will get them taken tomorrow outside so you can see how beautiful he is. I've already fallen for him and I'm sure you will too. Get those apps in soon. This guy is gonna go fast.

5/12/07 - From Jake's Transporter - I pulled two boxers out of a NY city shelter yesterday.  I was supposed to just get Jake but then saw Duke a senior boxer who has trouble with his back legs and couldn’t leave him behind.  Jake is safely at his foster home in Forty Foot PA with Wendy and her family.  He is a real sweet heart.  He is only 1 year and 6 months old petite, fawn, owner surrender.  His owner’s reasoning was that he had enough of the dog.  This is such a good boy that I can’t imagine why.  He was a pleasure to have in my car.  He sat in his own seat and didn’t bother Duke.
