Just wanted to
let you know that we picked up Oscar yesterday from
Delanea's and he's doing great! He was a perfect
passenger in the car for the 2 hour ride home to
NJ. When we arrived, he was so excited to nose
around and run the yard and then check out his new
home inside. Our kids love him and Oscar is such
the patient boy with them. He did so well last
night as well - went and slept on his bed the whole
night. Think he was pretty tired since he had such
an exciting day yesterday! He met his new family,
took a long car ride, smelled lots of new smells,
met his soon-to-be-best-doggie-buddy next door, and
got lots of energy out before he hit the hay. 6/23/07 - Oscar has been adopted 6/14/07 - Oscar is pending adoption 5/28/07 - An Oscar update for everyone! Some new pics of Oscar can be viewed at: http://picasaweb.google.com/BronsonFamilyPhotos/BAROscar02. He has been doing great lately! We are always impressed by how smart this boy is! Oscar learns very quickly. So quickly at times he will set the proper behavior for our dogs. Specifically he tends to do this during dinner time. The pre-meal ritual at our house includes all of the dogs in a sit and stay while we prepare the bowls. Oscar is always the first to sit in the proper spot… while all of our dogs wonder around the area and need to be corrected a few times (guess we need to work with them too). The last couple of nights we have taken the pack on walks that included a very large fenced in area for them to run. Oscar runs like a lightening bolt! You can tell he loves to get out and run his little heart out! Today, Oscar made an appearance at the neighborhood block party. He was such a hit! Everyone commented on what a great looking dog he is and how much he loved the attention. He soaked in all of the loving he could, as is his tendency. From adults to two years olds Oscar would come up to everyone for the rubs. He was such a wonderful boy in a very large group the included dozens of kids. While on walks we are still focusing our attention on loose lease walking and Oscar not getting feisty around dogs that are walking past us. We know he is going to find a great home soon and make a forever family very happy!!! 5/22/07 - Oscar is doing great. What a sweet boy he has turned out to be! Any opportunity he gets to snuggle up with someone he jumps on it. Whichever family is lucky enough to end up with this boy should expect lots of lovin. Oscar’s idea of a perfect day would be lots of running and jumping , wrestling around with another dog, going for walks, and of course getting a good belly rub. Over the weekend we took our dogs to a local dog park for some fun. I walked Oscar around on the outside of the fence (the park was loaded with many small dogs). When dogs would come over by us Oscar would greet them through the fence with a typical boxer wiggle. And then he would try to play with them through the fence, jumping and running back and forth. However when the dogs would run to the end of the leash Oscar gets a little feisty and tries to catch them with all his energy. We agreed that had there not been any small dogs in the park we would have let Oscar loose in the park, but since we are not 100% certain how he would be around little dogs we were playing it safe. When we came home from the dog park Oscar visited some of the neighbors and their kids. He does a great job greeting people. Oscar just wants to lean into them and get some hugs and rubs. 5/16/07 - IF YOU ARE A JOGGER, WALKER, HIKER, OR ROLLERBLADER WE HAVE FOUND YOUR BOXER! Oscar is a high endurance dog that loves to run and walk and then run some more. He needs a little more work on the leash but he is learning fast (He has a tendency to cut you off when on the leash). Oscar has been with for about a week and a half now… and wow, what a dog! We are working with him to teach him some boxer manors. Oscar is slowly but surly coming along. As well all know, it is rather difficult to get an excited boxer not to jump up on people… but he is learning. What a little snugglebug this one has turned out to be! He likes to walk over to you slowly and the gently put his front paws on your lap (We tell him “off” unless we have invited him first). Oscar will stay there as long as you let him. If you let him stay long enough he will jump right into your lap and curl up. Oscar is very good about staying off the furniture and only jumps up when invited. Over the past several days we have had many visitors and Oscar has done great. After a minute or two of being very excited he calms right down tries to get some lovin. Oscar should not be in a house with cats or small dogs. They seem to get him fired-up. Again, if you are an outdoor person… this is your dog! And the barking at the door just reminded me… If you are also looking for a good watch dog… he will let you know when someone is around the area… But we are working to try and curb this behavior. 5/6/07 - We picked up Oscar yesterday from a temporary foster home. What a gorgeous boxer dog! His colors/markings are simply spectacular. Oscar is loaded with energy and muscles. When I picked him up from his temporary foster he burst out of his cage and sprang up into the air off all four legs. Rather than trying to contain all that energy in a car ride home, I took him for a short one mile jog and then walked him for another fifteen minutes. It helped but by the end of our thirty minute car-ride he was ready to go again. So then the entire pack went on a three mile walk. Oscar did okay on the walk (many corrections for pulling and simply learning a new way to walk). This boy loves to run! Whether on a jog or sprinting around the yard. Dog introductions went well and Oscar has already made good wrestling buddies with his foster bulldog brother. This morning I took him and his foster boxer brother on a four mile jog. Oscar was the only one that was ready to keep running. I guess a month of being cooped up in a crate will do that to a dog. Oscar does not particularly care for the crate (seems to be better when the other dogs are created along side of him). We know Oscar will not be a foster dog for long... soon he will be making a forever family very very happy. What a Day! Lennox left
with his forever family. They were very excited. They were offered a
five month old boxer puppy yesterday, but turned it down because they
were so excited to get Lennox. No time to miss him though, The house
was fosterless for about half and hour before Oscar (formaly Max)
arrived. This guy has Loads of energy...typical. A walk with our pack
this afternoon and maybe some roller blading with foster dad tomorrow
should help. He is a handsome boy, but needs a little TLC.
