4/26/08 -
Just wanted everyone to know that Annie has arrived at her new home safely and seems to be settling in nicely.
We had a quiet ride home and then took a nice walk through town, meet a few new people and Annie was just perfect with each one. She ate and we'll go to the park in a little bit but right now she is relaxing on her bed just waiting for the Flyers game to start :O))
I want to especially thank Renee and Eric for their kindness and I will keep them connected to Annie with regular updates and pictures.
I already know we are going to have a wonderful life together so thank you all for all your help !
4/19/08 - Annie is pending adoption with one of our super volunteers who just lost his
senior girl. She will have a wonderful life!
8/20/07 - Annie's father has taken a new job and they must relocate and cannot take
Annie with them so she is being returned to BAR
2/10/05 -Annie is adjusting great to the home we moved into on December 15th in
Duxbury, VT. She is very much a guard dog now that we are living in a home. Annie
will frequently let us know if someone is driving by or stopping over to visit. She is still
very affectionate with Eric and myself and loves going for walks with us.

We adopted another dog named Bruce from New Jersey Boxer Rescue. It will be two
weeks since our adoption of Bruce this weekend. Annie was displaying very dominant
behavior with Bruce and they have been fighting off an on. We have been told by our trainer
Don Blanchette that to think they are going to just get along is not normal in the dog world.
We are not certain this will work out only time will tell.

Annie has had some trips to the veterinarian's office and had conjunctivitis, and and ear
infection. We noticed that she was twitching her head often and they found that she had an
infection in her left ear and today is the last day for her ear drops and conjunctivitis eye
medicine. We are hoping both Bruce and Annie will play eventually only time will tell. When
we get to borrow a digital camera will will update with new pictures of Annie.
7/25/04 - Annie has been adopted.
7/18/04 - Annie is pending adoption
7/12/04 - WELL, WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT A DOG THAT IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL ALL
THE TIME. ANNIE HAS BEEN DOING EXCELLENT. SHE IS TOLERATING MUGGS' ANTICS VERY
WELL AND SHE IS EVEN DISHING OUT SOME OF HER OWN FROM TIME TO TIME. SHE IS
EATING EXTREMELY WELL, HER APPETITE HAS GROWN OVER THE PAST TWO WEEKS. I AM
HOPING SHE GAINS SOME WEIGHT BEFORE LEAVING ME. ANNIE HAS BONDED VERY WELL
WITH MY HUSBAND AND THEY ENJOY MANY NIGHTS TOGETHER WATCHING TV OR
WORKING IN THE GARAGE. SHE FOLLOWS ME AROUND DURING THE DAY AND HAS BEEN
DOING MUCH BETTER WITH HER COMMANDS. THIS WEEK SHE HAS ALSO FOUND ONE
PARTICULAR SQUEAKY TOY THAT SHE MIGHT EVEN PLAY WITH NOW AND AGAIN. ANNIE
HAS GROWN ACCUSTOMED TO THE YARD AND HAS CLAIMED HER OWN SPOTS. ANNIE HAS
EARNED THE RIGHT NOT TO BE CRATED AT NIGHT ANY LONGER. INSTEAD SHE SLEEPS
FAITHFULLY BY THE BEDSIDE WITHOUT A PEEP. SHE EVEN GOES UP THERE NOW WHEN SHE
HEARS THE WORD 'BED" ANNIE IS GOING TO BREAK OUR HEARTS WHEN SHE LEAVES, BUT I
KNOW SHE WILL FILL SOMEONE'S HEART WITH LOTS OF BOXER LOVE!
7/7/04 - Annie is doing very well. she was quite a little bunch of excitement last night when we had some
friends and family over for a birthday. She took a special liking to my 5 year old nephew, Jay. She
followed him around the yard all night long. She ran after him and licked him with boxer kisses
every chance she got. After a while when she tired out, she laid her head on his lap on the hammock
and rested. She really surprised us as to how much she loved the kids. My 7 month old niece was
the victim of Boxer kisses as well and we were pleased to see how gentle Annie was. She and Muggs
have been horsing around the house and the yard. They tug at each others ears and run and chase. I
am so happy to see they are finally getting along. Annie has made herself a part of the family. We
hope she can be a part of yours as a forever home!
7/2/04 - This week Annie did fairly well. The scuffles with Muggs have slowed down a bit and she is
starting to play with him more often. She has begun to eat treats again after coming in from her walks
and she even is enjoying a bone now and then! The two of them look so cure chewing their Greenies
on the doggy bed. Annie looks like she might be gaining a bit of weight and that is definitely a good
thing. Annie has also figured out a good way to keep cool in the yard. She goes under the hammock
and digs a nice little hole. She gets herself all set up and snoozes for a while. I can say she is making
great progress. As happy as we are to have her and as happy as she is to be here, a forever home is
the place to be for this girl!
6/28/04 - Annie's weekend on the Delaware was fairly good. She was a great dog most of the time. We
spent much of the time by the water and she was quite content on the sand or sitting on a blanket. She
made lots of friends this past weekend as she always does. The kids there really love her. Annie and
Muggs found there way into a few "scuffles" but we are trying to mend all their differences. She
slept out of the crate and did fine. No accidents or anything like that. She even stayed clear of
the garbage when she was left alone ...a little test we gave her and she passed. Annie did get her
paws on a hotdog or two that accidentally fell on the ground. She ate well all weekend and slept the
whole car ride home. Annie had her first real interaction with cats on Monday. She was in the
house with two older cats which belong to family members. She was not interested in them at first. She
was more interested in the black lab that is the resident dog there. She was not anxious to chase
after the cats, but the cats were definitely afraid of her. They ran and hid under the bed until
the coast was clear. Once we were finally home and Annie was back in her space she was back to her
old self. She sprinted around the yard and let Muggs chase her, but was wary when he came too
close. She settled into her favorite spot on the couch and let me clean her ears once again. She got
her teeth brushed and was off to bed. She cries in her crate a bit, but I think she just wants to be
around the people she has grown to love. She will surely love her forever family and we know they
will love her too!

6/25/04 - Today was a great day for Annie! We found out that her fecal test came back negative from the vet. Annie showed us that she is quite a sprinter when she wants to be. She ran and ran with Muggs today in the yard. They had a ball. She even let him chase her for a while. They worked themselves so tired that she spent the afternoon snoozing on the couch with her blanket and pillow. In care you haven't noticed, we try to make our dogs as comfortable as possible. She has become more regular, too. She has pooped consistently over the past few days with no problems and she is eating like a horse. This weekend we will be going up to our favorite spot on the Delaware River. The first time Annie was there she loved it. I hope she has a wonderful time this weekend too. I'll give you all the details on Monday.

6/22/04 - Today's update will be short and sweet. I have been jotting down things I want to put into my updates about Annie since she is making such progress. Here it is in a nutshell. She doesn't have accidents in the house, she doesn't bark at the table for food or beg, she does bark at the mailman and she doesn't like dry food yet. Ahhh, I feel better now that I have gotten all that out! Annie has been great the past few days. Annie loves to be outside and she definitely tries her best to get you out there all the time. When she is out she doesn't run much, but she is very well behaved on our walks. She just got a pretty pink collar and leash for being such a good girl. She and Muggs are working out all their differences and have become friends. They are even OK with sharing the water bowl at times. Annie has made herself part of our home and we love it that way, but she is so sweet she would make a wonderful addition to any home!

6/20/04 - Annie has done it again...She has won the hearts over of yet another part of my family! We had
a BBQ for Father's Day and she was making everyone turn to mush. She gave her usual hugs where she
puts her paws around your waist and rests her head on your shoulder just to love ya! The kids played with
her all day and she was great. She even made friends with a 110 lb. lab named Colby. She was in a bit of
trouble for digging in the garden, but we all knew she was a digger. Today we found out that she loves
lounge chairs, she laid on one in the yard today for about 45 min. for her afternoon nap. Her gentle
disposition was heart warming to all. She found a cozy spot in the shade and rested after all the excitement.
She has shown us that she can run around like a younger pup and play too. Although it doesn't happen
often, it does happen. Annie was excited about the car ride home because she loves the car. When we got
home, she let me trim her nails, clean her ears and wipe her paws without any problems. She is so calm that
you couldn't ask for a better dog. It certainly will be hard to give her up to her forever home, but I know she
will make a family very happy.

6/18/04 - Well, there is a whole lot to update all you boxer fans out there about Annie. Let's start
with her vet visit on Thursday. She hopped right in the truck, as she loves to go for rides in the car.
There was not a sound from her the whole way there and when she arrived she immediately
searched around and scoped out the new place. She was greeted by a few techs and gave them
Boxer wiggles as they petted her. She weighed in at only 53 pounds. She really could use to gain
a few pounds. The vet said she looks great. A very healthy dog with lots of history behind her. Too
bad she can't tell us about it. The vet said she probably had a few litters of puppies in her day and
that it would take her body longer to retract since she was spayed so late. The small mark on her
back seems to be harmless and we might even have it removed. She sat patiently on the table while
the vet checked her out and even gave him a Boxer hug. His specialty is Boxers so he was loving
every minute of it.   On the way out she rubbed noses with a huge Lab without any problems and
even gave a Beagle a sniff. She was such a good girl that we stopped at the pet store to get her a
new squeaky toy. Once she arrived home she and Muggs were right back to their old selves.
Having an older Boxer in the house is great. She calms Muggs down from time to time and he is
learning to share the spotlight.
The other night, they were sleeping together on the couch and I was shocked. They really have
grown to love each  other. Annie looks for Muggs in the morning and she can't go outside without
him. Muggs has even taught Annie to bark at strangers passing by. They both are very protective
of the property. Annie is eating fine now and has adjusted very well. She is even comfortable with
the neighbors and their Dalmation. Annie is the talk of the block lately and I notice when I walk the
two of them together, a lot of cars slow down to look at them. She is a star in my book and I hope
her forever parents, whenever they are found, feel the same way too!

6/15/04 - Today, Annie had a great day! She spent her morning snoozing in her crate and
when I arrived home she was nothing but hugs and kisses. She seems to be getting more lively
as the days pass and more comfortable with her surroundings.  Annie still is not taking a strong
liking to dry food though. We have been mixing it with wet food and she seems to eat the wet
and leave whatever is not moist.
Today she ate twice with no problems and pooped in her favorite spot. Her in-house roomate,
Muggs, has started to get used to her and they made it through the whole day with no fights.
We are noticing that her nipples are starting to reduce in size and that  her belly is slowly starting
to shrink. These are all good signs. Being that she just had puppies, this could be a reason why
she was so defensive at first. Overall, she had a great day. She even greeted her foster dad at
the door today with Muggs, something she has never done.

6/14/04 - Well, we are now on Day 2 of being full time at home here in Edison and everything is going alright so far with the exception of a few little scuffles. Annie who is very comfortable here (or at least seems to be) is having a little bit of trouble with Muggs here and there, but overall she is doing well. Annie wasn't eating any dog food at all over the weekend, but with the advice of one of the other foster moms we tried mixing wet food with dry food and it worked like a charm. Annie has eaten for the past day just fine and has even found her own special poop spot. Annie over the past day or two has taken to her crate very well. She sleeps in it at night and goes in with no problem. We leave the door open and she sometimes makes her way in for a mid afternoon nap. She is a confirmed digger, by the way. She loves to dig under the patio furniture..so much for the grass! Annie and I snuggled on the couch last night and she was just a sweetie. I have made an appointment for to see the vet on Thursday and I hope all goes well. By the way her cut over her eye is healing
nicely!

6/13/04 - Well everyone, I am pleased to announce the arrival of Annie into Boxer Angels Rescue.  On Friday, we picked up Annie at the one of our favorite shelters on Long Island.... What a long trip!  When we first saw Annie, I was so excited to see this beautiful girl get out of there.  She is the kind of dog that belongs in a home.  She immediately hopped right into my vehicle and off we went.  The entire car ride, we didn't hear a peep.  We even pulled over to check on her a few times because she was so quiet.  Annie spent her first weekend on the Delaware River with her new family.  Everyone that saw her had the same reaction..."What a beautiful and sweet girl."  She had no problems getting used to everyone.  Muggs, our puppy, who is only 7 months old, is another story.  Keeping them separated was a chore and the small interactions they had were interesting.  Annie want to sit on your lap and be loved, while Muggs want to play, play, play.  She was very affectionate and gave lots of kisses.  Annie did well with children ranging in ages this weekend from 5 - 16.  She hasn't eaten much, and doesn't seem to care for dog food much.  She drinks very little and pees even less.  Overall, she has done fine.  I am anxious to get her to the vet this week to have her checked.  She seems to love her new home here in Edison, NJ.  After all, she did hop right onto the couch the moment she walked in the door.  As for her and Muggs, only time will tell and I think they'll be fine.  Annie just wants love and that's what we plan to give her until her forever family is found.  Welcome home Annie!
