We will miss her very much. What a sweet girl. 6/4/10 - MAdison is pending adoption
6/2/10 - Well just a short message today..... Madison is doing
great... she loves her life... she loves to play.... she loves the
kids!!! I would say she is finally comfortable with her new
surroundings. She is still cautious of strangers but does not run away.
She stays close to me and observes. I wish I had more room in my life
where I could adopt her myself and still foster. I just don't have the
room or time to do both. This girl is going to make someone very happy.
She still has a slight barking problem with separation but it is minor.
Other than that she is the perfect pet! My heart melts for her and I
know yours will too. Check her out on the video! She is going to the
vet on thursday.... stay tuned. 5/30/10 - So Maddie has been here a full week and is still a joy. Today the family was out and had to get the neighbors to care for the dogs. All reports went well except Maddie didn't want to get back in her crate when it was time. They simply used a leash and a cookie to coax her in. She has become much more comfortable in out home and has free run of our down stairs. She still LOVES the kids. My 5 year old was sleeping in today and maddie stayed at the top of the stairs whining. When my daughter came out of her room Maddie went nuts with wiggles!!! She is also starting to bark while she plays.... just a little. Also she is not barking when I leave..... which is great! Well... we did nails today. I did all my boys first (I use the dremmel) and she was curious but scared. When it was her turn she was sooo scared I couldn't do it. As I said before, she doesn't really like her paws touched but I think the real problem was the noise. I sat there for about 5 min giving her treats with the dremmel off and she tolerated that. I will let the vet be the meanie. Later I did try with the nail clippers and she wasn't as scared but still didn't like it, so I gave up. She really is comfortable around me and I didn't want to ruin that. It was also bath day. She was second in line and did great. I use the hose in the back yard ( I have warm water outside just for them) and took her collar off so it wouldn't get wet and she really didn't even try to run. So she gets an "A" in bathing. The other day I noticed a small discharge from her. I collected a sample and brought it to the vet. They found a very slight infection and she is now on antibiotics. She also takes pills well. We just put them down her throat. Se has had a very busy week and is doing great with her new surroundings. She is so sweet and loving. 5/25/10 - So this is Maddie's 4th day in our house. We have noticed some changes. She is still loving, polite, sweet etc. however she is scared of certain things. She is afraid of men especially. We find if the male ignores her for about 15 min or so she comes around nicely. She seems to be unsure of new things but again a few minutes and she adapts. I guess you can say she is shy... but boy is she cute!!!!!! She did have a small tiff with my boston on sunday and I reprimanded her. She accepted my authority quickly and both dogs have a different respect for each other. Maddie sleeps in her crate at night with no problems. She can make it through the night with out having to go potty. She prefers to be with someone so she will follow you around. Did I mention that she LOVES kids. As soon as she sees any children she lights up and wiggles all over. She also loves to play however she is not the in your face type of player. She is too polite for that right now. Boy can she run !! She is sooo fast too. Mornings and evenings she gets a little fired up and takes off and then 5 min later she stops and lays down. My feeling right now for the perfect home would be someone who is home a lot with maybe no more that one dog. Sometimes I think my house is a little hectic with three other very active dogs although she seems to be handling anything she comes across. This weekend I will try to bathe her and do her nails. 5/22/10 - Sweet, loving, polite playful. I can't say enough about this girl. She arrived yesterday and has been lovely. She gets along great with my three other dogs. Introductions were very easy. Madison is a little skittish to noises. She is very petite but perfectly proportioned. What a wonderful pet she will make. More updates to come as we get to know her better. |
