4/23/10 - Walter, or Wally,(we had to change his name due to a close family member being named Tommy) is doing wonderful in his forever home. He was so behaved and relaxed in the long car ride home last weekend and the introductions with our 2 year old Maggie could not have gone better. They are old friends already. He is such a sweet boy full of life and love. He really loves to cuddle! We feed them Innova and his little tummy is just starting to adjust to the new food. He eats twice a day, just like Maggie. He really is settling in nicely. We are working on the jumping, with both of them. They are just so excited for company they can't contain themselves! We do walks in the morning and in the evening. He is excellent on the leash! Just excellent! And on Fridays he and his sister will be going to doggy day care. Today was his first day. I am excited to see how he did when I pick them up. We feel so blessed and happy that we found this little guy and are able to give him a good loving home. We will keep reminding him that we are his forever home until he really trusts that. He is a perfect addition to our family and makes life so much more fun! 4/17/10 - Tommy has been adopted 4/11/10 - Tommy is pending adoption 4/1/10 - Sebastian did not know his name... and his foster mom decided that it was just way to long to pronounce, so his new name is Tommy! He has also started picking up on his new name quickly, as he is a very smart boy. Tommy has had a couple accidents in the house, he is 'partially' house-trained. He knows he is supposed to go outside, he just doesn't know how to let anyone know yet. In keeping Tommy on a schedule, he should be potty-trained in no time. Tommy will try to sneak out the door with any chance he gets. He is learning that he must sit before going outside, and before coming back inside. Tommy has been getting lots of daily walks. If he sees another dog on his walk, all he needs is a little tug on the leash to get his attention. He will then keep walking right by like a good boy. Tommy has also met the cat in his foster home. He is curious of the cat, but when telling him a firm 'No' he will walk away and let the cat go. He just wants to sniff and check the cat out, he does not have a prey drive and would not hurt a cat. Tommy loves to play! He always has a toy in his mouth, either a tennis ball or a stuffed toy. But, at the end of the night... he just loves to cuddle! He really is the best cuddler ever, he will melt your heart!! 3/24/10 - Sebastian has been with us for 3 days now and is starting to settle in. He seems to be potty trained, so far he hasn't had any accidents in the house. Sebastian may have been free fed in his previous home, as he hasn't been eating very well and likes to graze. Today he loved chasing tennis balls outside in the yard. Inside, he will try to play with his foster sister non-stop and loves playing with toys, especially playing tug with his foster sister. Sebastian has been caught counter surfing twice, but hasn't been successful in getting anything yet. We are continuing to work on him jumping up on people, it is mostly when he is exited. Overall, Sebastian is a great young pup with lots of boxer energy. 3/22/10 - Meet Sebastian! He is a handsome fawn, 1yo boxer with LOTS of energy! He loves to play, especially with other pups. He walks good on a leash, knows sit and lay down. Sebastian is a very big boy at 80 lbs, and he does jump up on people when he is excited... we are trying to work on that. He does not like going into the crate, but once he is in, he does OK. We will update more as we get to know this big guy! Background Information - Sebastian was brought into the shelter by a 77 yr old woman. He was given to her as a puppy, but his is just too much for her to handle. He needs training, which he was not getting at his home. He jumps on people and needs to get some leash manners. |
