5/21/05 - Carter has been adopted by his foster family.  Congrats

5/23/05 - Carter is pending adoption

4/16/05 - Thank heavens for BAR tags on our rescue dogs and some wonderful people in the world.  BAR received a call that Carter had been found sitting in the middle of a busy street.    As you can see from the update below, this was not the first time that Carter decided to take a little run.  BAR decided to give Carter back to his adoptive family after he got away the first time as we all make mistakes and we felt that they deserved another chance.   This time Carter was taken back to his foster home and is acting like he never left.  We hope to find a home with a fenced in yard for him this time that will love him and care for him.

2/17/05 - Well it has been an interesting journey so far. We brought Carter home on Superbowl Sunday and he immediately took to everyone, his adopted sister Sadie adores him as well as all of the children. He does counter surf and a bit more, however we have a lot of time to work on all of that. He went to his first vet appointment with his new Doctor and got all of the staples out of his hind quarter and hind leg. He was so well behaved and we were so proud of him. The next day, on Friday, when he and Sadie went out to potty, he took off. All week he was fine but on this particular day the mood to run hit him. We searched and searched, to no avail. We contacted all Animal Control offices in the county, all local vets and hospitals and were frantic. On Monday I contacted Tina to ask for help and prayers and lo and behold before the day was out, someone called. The downside was they didn't really want to give him back but with Tina's help and Carrie a awesome Foster mom from Troy he came home. We learned an important lesson and are in no hurry to let him have too much freedom. He is such a wonderful and welcome addition to the family and he keeps my toes warm as he sleeps on my feet every night. I totally advocate BAR and the whole rescue and adoption process.

2/6/05 - Carter has been adopted.

1/21/05 - Carter is doing terrific in our home. He has put on a few pounds...stealing a huge bowl of pasta the other day I am sure helped that along :o))  He gets along with the other dogs in the home but isn't so great with the cats...I think the term "I want to eat them" comes to his mind when he sees them.
He went for his check up at the vets yesterday and will be going in on Tuesday for surgery to remove a very large mass on his rear left leg...the vet does not feel it is cancer but it isn't to pretty looking.
Once Carters surgery is done he will be ready to make his journey to his forever home....this is one super dog with no issues, except the counter surfing...he remains loose in the home and is doing wonderful.
Again please consider him for your home!

1/14/05 -Hello there...I would like to welcome Carter to our home for a short visit while he gets checked out by the vet.
Carter is a shelter dog from NYC and what a sweetie this boy is. He had no name and learned it very quickly. Carter is housebroken, good with other dogs, cats and people. He loves to give kisses and get lots of attention in return.
He is loose in the house during the day and gets into nothing. The only bad habit I see with Crater is he does like to counter surf. I made a large bowl of pasta for him last night and tonight he ended up eating the whole bowl as I forgot to put it back in the fridge before I came back to my computer....oh well he needs the extra weight anyway. He can definitely stand to gain at least 10lbs.
As I said he is a very very sweet boy so please keep an eye on him and consider this boy to live out his senior years in your home giving you lots of love and joy.
