11/10/05 - It has been a few months since our last update.  We had a very sudden and tragic loss just a couple of weeks ago, my mother passed away suddenly.  She lived next door to us and of course she was in and out of our house and lives as we were hers.  Hoover seems to miss her when we go into her house, it is right next door to ours.  He runs around the house with our other two silky terriers trying to find Grammy.  She would always have treats for them and of course they were the best, you know.  She bought club crackers to keep as treats for our dogs since they do not get people food other than the crackers from Grammy.
Hoover has been doing really well and hardly makes any mistakes anymore.  He still does not like the crate and continues to lick it when he is put in there.  We are getting ready to visit my brother and his family over Christmas in South Carolina and the dogs are going too!  When we were there this summer we did not take Hoover, Levi and Jeepers but they are going this time.  My brother lives on 20+ acres and has 11 dogs and more cats than we can count.  He seems to be the drop off point for all the strays in the area and he takes them for their checkups and shots and has them spayed or neutered when they come to live with him.  He has a variety but all get along great.  He brought a couple with him to our house the other week and Hoover just loved them.  We are sure all will be fine over Christmas as our dogs seem to take well to whatever we bring home.
Since my mother's passing we have brought her cat to live with us and she seems to fit in well, except she hasn't learned not to run by Hoover as he thinks it is a game and chases her until she turns and stands her ground, then the chicken runs for cover.  Hoover is such a loving and wonderful dogs and we love him so very much.  He has been good for Matthew and since Grammy passed away Hoover seems to know Matthew needs him more than ever and stays right by his side.  As always, Hoover is the best!!!!

8/25/05 - Well, it has been a while since we last wrote to let everyone know how Hoover is doing.  He had his first time in our kennel we use when we are away and cannot take our animals with us.  He did absolutely wonderful and he had play time twice every day and even had time in the pool.  The people we use are so wonderful to our animals and Hoover was the perfect gentleman they said.  He has really developed his own personality over the last few months.  We had to get Matthew a bigger bed as Hoover was crowding him out at night.  He will certainly be lost when Matthew goes back to school next week as the two of them have hung out together all summer.  He loves going to the soccer games to watch Matthew play and everyone loves him and makes a big fuss over him.  He still experiences separation anxiety when Matthew leaves him and especially when we all go away.  He has chewed the stairwell post and a few other items so we do crate him when we are all away from the house.  He really does not like the crate much at all and seems to lick it until it is soaking wet.  Hoover is very much a big part of our family and we cannot imagine not having him with us.  He just seems to adjust and loves to go to my Mom's with us too.  So sorry all you boxer lovers but we do have the best boxer in the world!!!

6/18/05 - Well, here it is June already and Hoover has been with us for 6 months. It seems like he has always been a part of our family. He is definitely attached to our son Matthew and when Matthew goes away overnight Hoover sleeps on our bed because he misses Matthew so much. He did have a little lapse of behavior last week where he chewed a hole in a mattress and also chewed the corner of our stairway post. We think it was because Matthew had 5 other guys here for most of the week taking finals at school and staying with us. Matthew did not have enough time for Hoover and we think he was just trying to get back at him. All and all Hoover has been a great joy to have with us and he continues to delight everyone he meets. He has been busy going to soccer practice and games with my husband and Matthew and everyone just loves him. He of course sits on my husbands lap on the lawn chair and watches the games. He is doing really well with the other two small dogs and both cats and is a great watch dog as well. He is a bit of a coward as he is afraid of the rabbits in
the yard and any little noise he heads for the house immediately. We love him so much and thank Boxer Angels Rescue for him!!!! As always HOOVER IS THE BEST!!!!!!!

5/16/005 - Just a quick update to let you know Hoover's tumor that was removed on 5/6/05 was not cancer and he is fine!!!!! We love him more than words can say and we are so grateful we have him as part of our family of 3 dogs, 2 cats and a rabbit. All get along fine of course the rabbit is outside. Thanks for all your prayers.

5/7/05 - Hoover has a birthday coming up on May 10, 2005, he will be one year old. What a great dog he is and we know we say this in every update, but the truth is the truth! Hoover and Matthew completed their obedience training and Hoover of course got an "A+"! The lady at the kennel wants he and Matthew to come to some of the regular obedience classes so others can see how well they have bonded and responded to one another. He only had to have 3 sessions of course we had private ones as we know the people so well at the kennel where the lessons were given. They said they have never seen a dog and his owner so in tune to one another and a dog so eager to please! On a sadder note, Hoover had to have a small tumor we found this week inside his mouth removed surgically yesterday. Now we have to wait to find out the results of it! Please keep him in your prayers that it is not cancer, we love this dog and he is one of our family just like another kid! Hoover sleeps with Matthew and rides in the car with his head on your lap and he loves to go to the soccer games and practices to watch all the kids. We are the luckiest family in the world to have Hoover in our lives and we don't want anything to happen to him! While he was at our vet's office he was allowed to be with them behind the counter as they have also fallen in love with him! As always WE HAVE THE BEST BOXER IN THE WORLD, UNCONTENDED! Again, please keep Hoover in your prayers that there is not cancer! Love to all.

4/1/05 - Well, Hoover has been with us for 3 months now and as always he is just great. We have conquered the accidents in the house and he lets us know when he need to go out. He sleeps with Matthew and sits on our laps. He started his obedience classes and the lady said he is the best she has ever seen and wants him and Matthew to attend another class to show the other people how eager he is to please and so much in tune with Matthew. He gets along great with the other dogs and the cats and loves going to my mother's house to stay. We took him to soccer practice last night and he was wonderful and everyone made a big fuss over him and he behaved great! Sorry all you other boxer family members but HOOVER IS THE BEST!!!!!!!

2/28/05 - Well, we can't believe it has been another month since Hoover arrived. He is doing just great and he and Matthew start their obedience training tonight, if the weather holds up. Hoover has learned to sit and shake paws as well as he walks great on a leash. He and our cat Sisqo are doing much better now that Sisqo has adjusted to Hoover being in the house. Hoover and the other two little dogs and the cats all drink from the same water dish even though they have their own and they do it at the same time. Hoover and the two little dogs even share their food and doggie treats without a problem even though they have their own. Hoover still continues to have a few accidents in the house from time to time but he is doing better. We cannot seem to get him to let us know when he needs to go out so we just take him every couple of hours to be sure.

If someone can explain to us how to send a couple of pictures we would be happy to do so. Hoover
is a wonderful dog and we are so lucky to have him. He still does not like it when Matthew goes
off without him and he still sheds tears. He seems to love it here with us and we certainly love
him very very much. As always, Hoover is the best!!!!!

1/29/05 -Well, Hoover has been with us for a month now and he is the most wonderful dog in the world. We have not gotten his obedience classes done yet as the weather has not cooperated along with Matthew's basketball schedule and the lady who does the trainings schedule do not seem to mix well. Hoover has learned how to sit and lay most of the time and he knows how to get Matthew up for school in the mornings when told to do so! He loves us all including the other dogs and cats. Even our big Sisqo cat has started to come around Hoover more and started to accept him as well. Hoover is very cautious not to step on the little dogs and watches for them when outside. He still has separation anxiety from Matthew when he goes to school each day. He still cries both verbally and tears still run. Hoover now goes to the bank with Ken each week in the front seat of Matthew's little truck and lays with his head on Ken's lap the whole way about 8 miles. When they get to the drive-up window Hoover pops his head up to say hello to the teller and she gives him a doggie biscuit. What a pooch he is!!! All of Matthew's friends just love him too! Ken gave the boxer angel rescue web address to the lady at the bank this week as she really loves seeing Hoover each week. Hoover was the best choice for our family and as soon as we can get some pictures developed as we do not have a digital camera we will post some for all to see. He is starting to fill out nicely. Thank you all at BAR for our wonderful HOOVER!!!! He's the best!!!!

1/11/05 - Well, Hoover has been with us just over a week and is doing fine. He is slowly getting the hang of going outside to potty, although he has had a few mistakes indoors. He does not like Matthew to go off to school and leave him behind, he actually sheds a few tears and cries when he leaves. The upside to this is he is really happy when Matthew arrives home at the end of the day. He is doing fine with all our other animals except for our cat, Sisqo. Hoover wants to chase Sisqo and play but Sisqo wants no part of it. I think there is a little jealousy because Sisqo is Matthew's cat and he always slept with Matthew and now Hoover sleeps with Matthew. We are sure in time both will end up sleeping on Matthew's bed so we will need to purchase a bigger bed as it is only a single one now. We love Hoover and he really loves us a lot! His obedience training will probably start next week as soon as we can find a time for Matthew and the lady to meet that fits both their schedules. We are going to get one on one obedience training at first which will be great and that is how our kennel handles obedience classes. Hope all is well with all the boxer lovers and Hoover and all of us send our best for a great new year! HOOVER IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!

1/2/05 - Our New Year's Baby "Hoover" arrived home with us on 1/1/05. He is just the most wonderful little guy and has settled in really well. Our two dogs have accepted him and our two cats and my mom's two cats really just ignore him and he seems to ignore them for the most part unless they run then he wants to chase them. Hoover's first night was a good one and he slept all night with our son Matthew on his bed. We are planning to enroll him in obedience classes for he and Matthew to take. Tomorrow will be a real test for Hoover as Matthew must go back to school and Hoover seems to be attached to Matthew's hip. Thank you BAR for giving us the opportunity to adopt Hoover he is the BEST!!!!

1/1/05 -Hoover is on his way to his forever home. What a great little guy he is. He was a bit scared at first, but got right in their car. He has been through so much in his short little life. He was neutered Thrusday and is doing wonderfully. He will really be missed by boxer buddy retreat and its household members! Good luck boy, you deserve the best!!

12/29/04 - Hoover is pending adoption

12/11/04 - Hoover is a wonderful boy. The only reason he is in rescue is because my house is so small that we can barely move with all the crates. We love his personality. He is interested in everything, and I believe with training he will be a great companion. He now loves to play with the toys, and the other boys. He loves any time being spent with him. He would truly love a home where he could be the center of attention.

12/8/04 -  Hoover is just a puppy and he has not had a very good life so far.  He came with no paperwork.  The best guess of age is 10-11 months old..  He is very jumpy, seems good with kids, but I wouldn't go to young because of how jumpy he is.  He was cooped up all his life (chained) outside.  He is crate trained now, and goes out without a leash and stays in the yard without a problem.  His name is Hoover.  He listens, but needs serious training.  He can't even sit when told.  He loves attention.  He was skin and bones when we got him, so we have put a little meat on him.  He has been good with one of our cats, the other, well the cat won't let him near him to find out.  He is great with the other dogs.  He loves to play.  When he first came he didn't even know what toys were for!!!  He still has puppy fur.  We would keep him ourselves, but four dogs in a house built for a tiny family makes it too difficult, and we know that BAR can find Hoover the perfect home.
