5/25/05 - It has now been two months since Naya arrived at her forever home and she is perfectly settled in and totally comfortable. She's no longer afraid to be outside alone and gets along beautifully with Bubba and Poochie. They both enjoy playing with her and Poochie has decided it's okay for her to sleep on the bed with us after all and she also joins Poochie on his walks with Rick. There have been NO problems and she is now weighing in at 59 lbs. I have switched all of my Boxers to Royal Canin's new Boxer 26 Maxi and they LOVE it!

4/25/05 - It's been exactly one month since Naya came to live with us and we are all so very happy to have her. Naya met Dr Craw today for the first time and she was an absolute angel. There was a little growl to start with but once he said hello she was just fine. He was able to thoroughly check her out and I'm happy to report she has a clean bill of health. Her weight is now 54.8 so I think she's finished eating all she wants. Naya has fit in just perfectly and plays extremely well with Bubba, my DM boy, and races around the house, inside and out, with Poochie. Naya is extremely smart and learns what is acceptable very quickly. Good looks and brains all in one very cute compact package. She's just adorable and a very sweet little girl. We are very lucky. Thank you Beverly for taking such good care of her and thank you BAR for letting me adopt her.

3/28/05 - Poochie is starting to show a jealous attitude because Naya, like you said, won't leave my side for very long. He's now playing hard to get with her when she wants him to chase her outside. I'm sure he'll be fine in a few days. It was very nice to see them all calm down last evening and not have to be all within 3 feet of each other. Pooch made himself comfy on the sofa in the familyroom with my husband regardless of where I was, of course with Naya almost glued to me. She won't go outside to the yard without me yet but she will, at least, go out on the deck without me so we're making progress there. Naya is eating very well and playing with toys nonstop almost. She has NO problem with my husband and climbed on his lap yesterday when he was watching basketball and gives him kisses whenever she walks by his chair. Bubba is trying very hard to walk to play with her and that makes me sad but she is very gentle with him and I'm sure they'll play tug of war lying down soon. Naya gives up too soon with Bubba. Both my guys are very strong even laying down. Naya seems like such a feather. I'm so glad we've had nice weather so they can burn off energy outside!

3/25/05 - Naya has been adopted.  She jumped right into her new Mom's car like she know she was going to her forever home.  We wish her all the best.

3/13/05 - Naya is pending adoption.

3/6/05 - Hi everyone, this is Maniah (Naya). Thought I’d write you myself since I’m still here.
I absolutely love my foster home. I have four other dogs to play with. Chloe is my favorite. We play nonstop, well actually, sometimes Chloe gets tired out & then I try to get the people to play with me. I adore everyone, however it does take me awhile to warm up to new men & trust them and I do try to be protective of my home, so my foster mom says I’ll need to be somewhere where someone is always watching me and probably have a fenced in yard.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore everyone after I get to know them!!! My first priority is playing, I’m a mean, lean playing machine. Second priority, is cuddling & loving anyone that’s within reach! No one is exempt. I prefer to nap in your lap, at the very least next to you with my paws & head in your lap, any less would not be acceptable.

As for toys & comforts, I’m a pretty easy going girl. I’ve found that my toy basket or even an empty water bottle make great toys (even though the water bottle was destined for the recyclable bucket I managed to recycle one of my own!) it flies great when I toss it in the air. I try to catch it & if I miss for some reason I pounce on it like I am the wild, crazy Tigger. And sometimes I prance around pretending that I’m a show dog with my toys. Last night I tried to get my foster mom to trade her pizza for my water bottle but she didn’t take me up on it even though I stood there very patiently waiting for her to change her mind, which is really hard to believe because I’m so cute & gave her “the look” with my big adorable eyes. I don’t spend much time in my crate anymore because someone is almost always home. The tenderness in my paws from licking them from being crated much of the time has disappeared & my paws are white again and it doesn’t hurt to go outside & play in the snow.

Until recently I was being walked to do my business, now I mostly just go outside thru the doggie door in the garage. It’s fun because Chloe & I have lots of room to play tag. When I get done outside I’m so excited, I leap all five steps going from the garage to the kitchen door.

My foster parents are very proud of me because on one of our walks outside, I took them to the corner of the house where no one ever goes & managed to point out a gas meter leak to them.

So you see I am truely a very special girl. If you have lots of love, energy (another playful dog?), a secure environment, and think you can keep up with me - what are you waiting for? Put in your application and let them know it's you that's waiting!

3/1/05 - Naya continues to do well and has put on some much needed weight even though she plays constantly with Chloe. Naya will either need a home with another very energetic dog or a family that has lots of energy and time to spend playing with her! She is very good at heeling. Actually her leash has come off her collar a couple of times but you wouldn't know it because she stayed right in step with me while the leash dragged on the ground. She also managed to get off while my husband was walking her during a winter storm - he said she did it intentionally so she could get back to the house faster! I guess we'll have to give her a new collar so she doesn't beat Kevin in the great race to the house anymore! She still doesn't like the really cold days much but is more than happy to go out and play chase for a bit with Chloe once it gets above 20 degrees.

2/6/05 - Today is Naya's birthday. She is officially two!
It has warmed up outside enough that Naya will go off the doggie deck now to play. She spent a good 1 1/2 hours yesterday playing tag in the pen (over 1/3 acre) with Chloe before they came back in. That certainly helps tone down her energy level afterward. She was content afterward to curl up to us on the couch.
Naya just loves to cuddle. She really wants to sleep with us at night & will wait until she thinks we are sleeping & hop up on our bed (it hasn't worked, yet!)

2/1/05 - Naya is certainly beginning to show us her true colors. What can we say other than boundless energy? After playing with our Chloe, our fox terrier, for two hours she still has energy left & wants to help me write this! She absolutely loves her tug toy and finds it entertaining to flip it up on the keyboard while I'm trying to type. Fortunately she does understand the command "enough", although her persistence does usually pay off in one form or another, either a pet or the toss of her toy. Sometimes she gives up on me & tries to convince Chloe that she should play some more. (Right now Chloe is protesting & giving me a look as to say "do I have to?" and will eventually go back to playing some more.)
Naya immediately figured out the doggie door, although I don't think that she's quite figured out what she's supposed to do in the pen as she's always been walked to do her business.
She has gotten very good at sleeping thru the night in her doggie bed in our room. At bed time, part of tucking her in every night is making sure she has a good tummy rub. She'd really like to share the bed with us, but we only let her up for short stays for cuddles & hugs before bed.

1/29/05 -Naya's spay has been delayed until she puts on just a few more pounds. She is beginning to fill out nicely. She's been eating like a horse & we've been feeding her satin balls that are helping to put weight on her.
Naya isn't fond of the brutally cold weather we've had, we borrow one of the other dogs coats to take her out & she seems to do a little better.
I forgot how much energy a nearly two year old boxer has! She has adjusted nicely & tries to initiate play with everyone, boxers and people! When no one wants to play with her she still has a grand time. One of her favorite things to do is jump in the air with her tug toy. She bounces, spins, jumps, leaps & dashes off with it and then comes right back. She is very entertaining no matter what she's doing!

1/23/05 - Naya is such a smart girl and learned a few new things today. 1)Bath's aren't so bad. It was reported that she hated them, but she did wonderful in the tub today. 2)If Tiger gets in a bad mood, hide behind the big boss dog, Duke. 3)New command "Bed" so that she can stay in our room at night & goes to the doggie bed. Naya is very intelligent for a boxer and picks up new things quickly. Most of it is she just wants to please her family & will do what ever it takes to make them happy.

1/22/05 - Naya has really settled in. She is a very good girl & absolutely loves our 12 year old twins. We've introduced her to all of our dogs & she is doing exceptionally well with them. We have two that are known to be grumpy on occasion & Naya has been very good at interpreting their signals and avoiding them when necessary.
Naya went to the vet today. She was a good girl but gave the vet a little growl when he got to close to me. She is very protective of her family but not aggressive. She did fine when the tech's took her out to do her heartworm test. She will go to the vet on Wednesday for her spay. She has a sore on one of her legs from obsessive licking. The vet said it was probably from boredom as she used to spend a lot of time crated. We noticed she licked her legs a lot the first couple of days that we had her, but she is doing much better now that she is out of the crate most of the time now that we've had all our doggie introductions. There is someone home most of the time so Naya is crated only when we go to bed or have to leave, although I suspect she could probably be left out of the crate at night because she's so good. Although it's not required, Naya would absolutely love to have a home where someone was home most of the time. She is so much more relaxed & easy going since someone is around during the day. Attention required is minimal since she is just happy to lay next to your feet.

1/20/05 - Naya has finally relaxed! She is laying by my feet as I write this. This is a relief since she didn't stop bouncing the first two days! She still does that when she wants to play or is excited - it reminds me of Tigger. Naya has no issues sharing her food with the other dogs (our other boxer girls escaped the baby gate & went right for Naya's dinner).
Naya would be a wonderful addition to an active family that will make sure she gets lots of exercise. She walks very well on her leash & doesn't typically pull until you get right next to the front door & I think she pulls mostly because it's soooo cold outside & wants to get in.
We've introduced her to our submissive foxterrier/hound mix Chloe whose been very good at helping Naya run off some of her energy. They've become very good friends. Even though Naya was not supposed to get on the furniture in her previous home - I caught both Naya & Chloe on the couch exchanging kisses! When Naya figured out that I was near she quickly got down. When she went upstairs with me she jumped right up in our bed like she was right where she belonged & offered all sorts of kisses & kidney bean dances, but quickly got down when I told her to. Naya is our constant shadow & it is obvious that she wants wants nothing more than to be near & to please her family. Will you
be the lucky ones that get to be Naya's family? You should put your application in quickly because this girl definitely won't last long!

1/16/05 - Naya has arrived. She is an absolutely beautiful light flashy brindle girl with the biggest boxer eyes I have ever seen. She is a typical boxer girl full of kidney bean dances & lots of energy. Her last home is giving her up as they want her placed where someone is home more often and can lavish her with the attention she deserves.
It's been reported that Naya adores children of all ages and was very gentle and protective in her prior home with them. Naya was envious of affections to the Boston Terriers in her last home but did get along famously with the Pitbull and loved to play nonstop with him.
