1/16/05 - It's be one week since we had Tony. It's been busy we have had him to the vet twice. He is getting better. This dog is wonderful we are so happy with him. He follows everyone in the house. He sleeps in my oldest room in his dog bed. He would prefer the furniture we are trying to break that. When someone comes home he awaits to greet you at the door and runs in circles, tail wiggling and full of kisses. He is the biggest mush. My littlest one calls him baby. Till later The Roesler's.

1/8/05 - Hello everyone Tony is finally home. It took us 4 hours to drive to get him and 3 1/2 to get home. He was such a good boy in the car for all that time. When we got home he went pee-pee and since as he hit the front door his wiggles have not stopped. My family and I would love to thank you for Tony. He is such a good boy. Already playing with his new tennis balls. Till later. The Roesler's.

1/8/05 - Our very handsome foster, Tony, just went home with his new family. He'll be an only dog (and very spoiled) with a 15 year old, twin 12 year old and a 3 year old skin kids to keep him company. His new mom, Lisa, is home most of the time too. What boxer could ask for more.
And they really wanted him because they drove about 4 hours in some pretty heavy snow to get here and pick him up. Arriving with cookies and a tennis ball, his favorite toy!
I think Tony is going to be very happy with them and I wish them all the best. He was one of my favorite fosters so far! Katie

1/4/05 - Tony is pending adoption.

12/31/04 -Our boy Tony continues to blossom day by day here - I am so impressed with him. He's very reserved with situations and people he doesn't know but he looks to me for direction when he's unsure. This is such a big deal! It means that he can be so easily trained! We have some visitors that just let themselves into our house - Tony hung back and grumbled a little the first time this happened. I told him "It's ok" and asked him to sit. He did and was much more confident that I was taking the lead in the introductions for him. He could be trained to go to a spot every time someone came into the house or to heel each time he was unsure. It really is very cool. I would strongly encourage anyone considering adopting him to get him right into obedience lessons. I don't want to see this boy put in a position where he feels pressured to be the "leader" of his pack. It's definitely not his style - he needs someone who'll take control and he'll be so happy when that happens.
Tony has done well with the kids in our house, including a 3 year old visitor that is somewhat shy around the dogs. We're not sure how he'd be with cats because our official dog tester went to the Rainbow Bridge on Christmas Eve before Tony had a chance to meet her. He's very interested in my sons guinea pig but will walk away from the cage if told to "Leave it". This guy is such a big love bug I know there's a home out there that is going to fall hard for him!

12/23/04 - Tony Tony Tony - what a good dog he is! This guy has settled in so well with us! We had a couple of scuffles with our resident male but our dog was the aggressor, getting into Tony's personal space and pushing him until he felt the need to defend himself. Otherwise he's just loved everyone. He also L-O-V-E-S tennis balls - any and all tennis balls, he carries them around in his mouth and chews them constantly. It's actually funny because they make a strange noise when he does it and I've spent quite some time wandering around the house thinking, or saying, "What IS that?" Tony is not playing with the other dogs yet, he watches them and seems to wonder what they're doing but hasn't joined in. Tony was also very surprised to meet our Christmas guest Fred - the neighbors greyhound. I don't think Tony knew he was meeting a dog? He sniffed a little and then growled at Fred so we've been keeping them separated. Fred is a very calm dog but he's not our dog and I'm not willing to put him in any situation that might be dangerous for him. My husband, on the other hand, had a little slip last night and Fred got past him into the room Tony was in. He tells me they snapped at each other but when he told Tony to "Go lay down" that Tony left Fred alone. I think Tony will do well with any other dog as long as the introductions are taken slowly so that he has time to work out in his head that nothing bad is going to happen.

Tony went for his checkup at the vet last Saturday and his infection is cleared up from his neuter. He does have what the vet feels is a large blood clot in his scrotum so, he doesn't exactly look neutered. The vet assures me that it will dissolve but it's going to take a long time because of the size of it so we'll just have to be patient. Tony also has a slight ear infection so we're giving him drops in his ears daily but that doesn't phase him.

He's a very calm boy - follows me around the house and plants himself wherever I stop so he can keep an eye on me. He takes treats fairly gently and sits for EVERYTHING - it seems to be his default behavior, which is fine with me. Tony is up to 62 pounds and could use a few more. He's got a beautiful big head and is such a handsome boy! I would just LOVE to tell him that his Christmas gift is a forever home!

12/15/04 - I'm SUCH a bad foster mommy! Our new boy, Tony has been here since Sunday and I'm just now sending in his introduction! He's a great boy - he came to us from a shelter on Long Island and I can't see why anyone would've given him up. He may have some secrets he's hiding from us but as of right now I can say he's housebroken and knows to sit when we ask him to. He doesn't jump, he's staying off the furniture (so far - they all seem to lose that talent when they're here for a while) he's good with the dogs he's met here and with our kids. Tony does pull on his leash but with a little patience and training I'm sure he'll learn to walk nicely.
Right now we're working on clearing up an infection from when he was neutered but we only have 3 or 4 more days of antibiotics left.
This boy seems practically perfect in almost everyway. If you're considering adopting please think about Tony!
