11/14/05 - Ziggy continues to be a great pup.  She seems sooo happy and is up to an almost hefty 50lbs.  She loves galloping around the yard like a greyhound and is always full of energy.  She loves to sleep at the end of my bed- and is quite the cover-hog, not always allowed, but sometimes it's nice to have her when my husband works an overnight.  With some help she has many commands down such as sit, down, shake, stay, come, and her ears perk up when she hears the "command-voice".  She enjoys showing off her tricks for everyone. She still has her puppy-moments, but I couldn't ask for a more patient and tolerant dog when dealing with the human-puppy- now 4 1/2 years old and very much a boy.  She is such a joy and a beautiful addition to our family.

5/16/05 - Six weeks now and we're feeling all settled in. Ziggy, as we've renamed her, is doing beautifully and we all adore her! She is up to 43lbs, up from 35lbs when we picked her up- we're quite proud of ourselves (and our chow-hound) for that! No more potty-problems, no behavior issues at all, and what a lover! Our vet estimates her at 2yo- younger than the initial shelter vet visit and older than the foster-vet estimate. Two is a good age- plenty of energy to keep up with my three boys (husband, 9yo, 4yo). We are so grateful for her. Thanks to all at BAR who helped us finally find our baby (I finally have my girl!)

4/7/05 - It's been a week! I feel like Ziggy's been ours forever- we've all fallen in love with her. She continues to be a joy to have around. My boys are so excited to finally have their puppy. She's very well behaved in general with enough puppy-energy to keep us on our toes, but she doesn't get into things, chew things, or misbehave in any way. We've been watching her closely though until we're better acquainted.

We have had some issues with house-training, so if you have any suggestions, I'm all ears. She's been going in the house (pee and poop) at least twice a day. We take her out frequently, and she often goes outside (with lots of Then your Dad will Then praise of course) but then she goes in the house 20-30 minutes later. She never goes in her crate at night. We're trying to get her onto a feeding schedule. She hasn't been eating much (about 2-3 cups all day- grazing) so I'm worried about limiting her to twice daily feedings, but the information we've found on house-training suggests it. She still doesn't give cues about needing to go out, or maybe we haven't figured it out yet.

Otherwise, all is well and she seems like a happy girl, full of wiggles and kisses all the time. Let me know if you have any suggestions (a good carpet cleaner?) Thanks, Anne

3/31/05 - We picked up Twiggy Tuesday PM as scheduled and she is an absolute doll! It was almost 36hrs before I heard her bark, and it was because the lost the squeaky ball she's come to love under my dresser. She is a joy. She's full
of energy and what a lover! We're very excited- we're all in love with her already- she fits into our family beautifully so far.  I'll post our update after a few more days and plan to email Katie as well, but so far, so great!
Thanks, Anne

3/29/05 - Twiggy has been adopted

3/28/05 - I know that Twiggy is headed to her forever home soon but just wanted to let everyone know what a joy this girl has been to have here. She's really turned around with our dogs and actually plays so much she's worn Daisy out! (That's pretty hard to do) She's also put on some much needed weight - not quite enough but I can't believe the difference in her from the dog that arrived here. She plays with toys and kids and dogs and adults! :-)
Twiggs will need some obedience but I'm so happy she's going to a great home!

3/22/05 - Twiggy is pending adoption

3/15/05 - We've had a very good week with Twiggy - still no accidents in the house so, although they didn't feed her, someone must've housebroken her. :-) Miss Twiggy has also met our resident boxers and is doing pretty well with them. They're still a little tense around each other but they are being very tolerant and I'm sure things will settle down even more with a little time. She's even playing with them! Twiggy has not been good with our smaller dog, a boston terrier, as soon as they're together she postures over him and if he so much as moves she goes for him. I think smaller dogs are out for the Twigster and I would think that would apply to cats too although she hasn't had the chance to meet one.
Twiggy has a blast with our kids - she loves for them to play with her and will pester them to throw the ball or play chase with her. She just loves people but especially little people!! She really is such a puppy for all that her body is bigger than that - she galumphs around the house and wiggles and play bows trying to get your attention. She's so funny!
Twiggy will need obedience training. She's not really rude but she doesn't have any clue about sitting when told, coming when called or any of those other good things a nice girl knows. Once she settles a little I think she'll be a very quick learner. She's certainly no dummy!
Lets see - what else? Twiggy is good in a crate and I think that whoever adopts her should consider having one for her, at least for if they need to leave her alone in the house. I think she could get herself into a lot of trouble if she were given too much freedom to begin with. Yikes! She doesn't go looking for trouble but trouble might come to find her if you know what I mean. ;-)
Twiggy will go to the vet tomorrow so that we know she's got a clean bill of health and then we'll keep updating you on her behavior until she finds a forever home.

3/9/05 - Our skinny little Twiggy has been a joy to have here the past few days. She's had very little time outside of her crate because of us having people working in the house the beginning of this week but has been completely housebroken and crate trained the whole time. Only 1 accident when she first arrived and that doesn't count. Twiggy has had a little interaction with our resident female and she seems pretty unsure of how she wants to be with other dogs. Outside in the yard she was happy to play with Daisy - inside, when she surprised a sleeping Daisy in her crate, we had a scuffle but Twiggy quickly retreated and told our more mature girl how sorry she was. I think, with some work, Twiggy might just be ok with other dogs.

3/7/05 - Twiggy is just SO stinking cute!  I can't stand it.  She's about a year old I'd guess with a sweet face and every bone in her body sticking out.  She's recently had pups and that shows too but she's still very much a puppy too.  This morning, I was relocating her crate and she found a squeaky baseball and was thrilled to have it to play with!  Then she played with me and the ball, then she played with my kids and the ball.  She was having a blast!  Already I can see her starting to react to being someplace warm and dry where she feels secure.

She had a couple of fleas on her so I gave her a bath and she was fine with that too - even after being in the car with strangers for so long - she settled down in her covered crate and napped - ate some dinner - went out (and had two accidents in her crate, but none since) and was very quiet all night.

This girl is just a doll baby!
