10/10/07 - It's Ariel!! I haven't
written in a very long time but that's because I have been so busy with my
new family. They love me so much & I have a lot of friends near my home. I
go out for a lot of walks with my family. I love to play with my bobo. He
makes a lot of noise! I got a bath yesterday and I smell so good. I love to
go camping and I really like the smell of smoke! I sleep with my sister on
her bed every single night.
Every morning when I wake up, I watch my brother and sister go to school and then I go back to bed. When they come home I usually play with them out in the backyard. We play with the tennis ball. I love to play with that! I have a lot of other boxer friends like Tucker, Tyson, Julia, and Sullivan. I see them a lot. I really like Julia because me and her look alike. Well it's about 2:00p.m and i'm getting tired so I think I'm gonna go lay down with bobo and my other animals. Thanks a lot for checking up on me. Bark to you later! Bye. - Ariel =) 3/3/06 - Just a quick update on Ariel. She arrived home Sat. afternoon after a quiet ride home from her foster moms location. After a quick tour of her new home, she was eagerly prepared for some playing. What a beautiful girl this Ariel. She truly is a person trapped in a dogs body. Extremely intelligent with a zest for life. She's been on several walks by the canal and behaves like a champ.. She loves our two children and cant wait for their arrival from school each day.. Boy can she wiggle up a storm!!! We just wanted to give a big thanks to BAR, Sandy and all that made this adoption possible!! Well, that's all for now, more updates to follow with some new pics. 2/26/06 - All went well yesterday with Ariel's new family. They picked her up around 1 pm and later that night they called to say she was doing great. She fit right in. They will keep me posted. 2/20/06 - Ariel is pending adoption 2/14/06 - Ariel and other dogs: Ariel and Tony get along very well. I made sure she knew Tony was there first so he comes first. She was crated and or separated from him for the first day or so and she wasn't allowed on furniture. After a while I allowed her on furniture but she can not sleep with with Tony and I at night. I know she goes in there with him during the day when I am not there. There have been very few instances of not getting along. I found she was very good for Tony who is a scaredy cat. Now he takes the upper hand with her. If she wants to take something from him he gives her a quick what for and she leaves him alone and lays down. So I would say with the proper slow introductions and a boxer savvy home she could get along with another boxer. With just myself and Tony there during the week she is very calm and not so chattery. They wash each others faces and everything. Keep in mind she is a whiner and talker. She does let you know what she wants. I tell her to stop or quiet and it took a while but it works. She sasses and you can't help but laugh at her. 2/5/06 - Hey out
there, I am waiting for a home. I always speak my mind and here goes.
I love attention, people, playing, cuddling, going for walks and riding
in cars. Sometimes I am not so good with other dogs and sometimes
I am. Right now I get along great with my foster brother. We lay
together, play together and go out together. I am looking for a home
that will give me lots of attention, cause if you don't I will wine and
if the doesn't work I will talk to you. I will bring you my toy 1/30/06 - Things are quiet. Ariel is doing well. There is nothing new to say. She makes herself to home and loves all who enter the house. She and Tony race to see who will get pet first and push each other out of the way. They like to play tug o war and are getting along great. She's a love. 1/16/06 -
Ariel is doing good. She has
settled in very nicely. She and Tony are still doing well. They push
each other out of the way for the first to get attention. She sits very
nicely for her treats and waits her turn. After her treat she goes to
see if Tony left any crumbs behind for her. She also checks his dish for
uneaten morsels. I find if she gets too excited and worked up she
will make herself sick. Does not like being closed up behind a door,
like a bedroom when people are on the 1/2/06 - Well now that Xmas is over and things have quieted down I thought I would do a quick update on Ariel. She is still doing well. She definitely has energy and needs someone to play with. She likes having a human all to herself and would like to lay on them. She is happy as can be when she is touching you. She can play hard if you want to rough house with her and she can stop when you tell her too. She was great with my 2 year old granddaughter for the week. She and Tony are playing well, they get into a skirmish here and there but nothing out of the ordinary. They lay together at night and during the day when they are alone. They even wash each others faces. She is very verbal and lets you know when she wants out or you to pay attention to her. Right now she is sleeping. She loves to go for walks on the leash. She is very good on the leash. She has the entire yard to play in but really loves that walk. That's it for now. 12/19/05 - Ariel is doing good. She and Tony are still getting along well. Its amazing to see him be so much more assertive with her and she takes it. She barks at him but that's it. They play, go outside together, try to eat each others food even though its the exact same and they lay together. She loves everyone that comes into the house and wants all their attention and whines at them if they ignore her. She loves my son and would rather be in any room he is in. That's all for this update. 12/10/05 - All is quiet. Ariel is settled in and still getting along with Tony. They play a lot and share the couch together. Ariel still sleeps on the pillow on the floor at night or she finds a couch to lay on. So she actually will leave my room to find more comfortable sleeping. Right now they are curled up on the futon resting up. She goes out and comes in no problems. Gets very excited when I get home. Sits very nicely for her treats. We play tug o war when I can and them I give my end to Tony and they continue on. Nothing new to report she is a great girl. 12/5/05 -
Ariel and Tony are playing in the
house now. When I am not home they take the comforter and pillow off the
couch and it ends up on the floor. Some days when I get home they have
my bed all a mess. They must be having a ball when I am not there.
There is no destruction done. Ariel is being a good girl. She is not
fond of the word no, it causes her to sass you back and the more you say
no the louder she gets, pretty funny. So then you just tell her to sit
and stick to it and after some postulating she does it. She always has a
kiss to go with it when she gives in. She has gone through 3 11/28/05 - Ariel here. Boy time flies when you are having fun. I have lots of toys to play with and with some convincing I can get my foster mom to play with me and that pesky Tony. He is always beating me at tug-o-war and I know I am bigger than him. He even takes my ball from me. I let him know it though I bark at him, but he does ignore me most of the time I am barking. He looks at me like I am nuts. He just doesn't get it, that's my ball. I have lots of places I can sleep but my foster mom won't let me sleep with her. I sneak up once in a while but she makes me get down. There is a guy that comes to visit, I guess he is my skin brother for now. I like him. We play and I wait for him outside the bathroom or bedroom. He will rough house with me and laugh at me. I sure like to have fun. Well gotta go by ball is calling me. 11/22/05 - I was
going to let Ariel do this update but she is pouting. She and Tony had a
bout of tug-o-war last night and Tony would not give up and he won. She
just laid there looking at him chewing on the rope frisby. It was pretty
comical to watch. They kept going in circles and pawing at each other to
let go. They are interacting more each day and getting along fine so
far. I still do not let Ariel sleep on the bed and crate her to keep her
used to it. She is doing good outside the crate 11/18/05 - Things are going along smoothly. Ariel is trying to get Tony to play with her. He is playing....hard to get. She and I have had many conversations. I don't know who can outtalk who. Tony doesn't know what to make of it. They run in the yard together do a little chest bumping and all in all get along fine so far. She spends her days in the crate and is let out with free roaming of the house when I am home. She has a great time with toys and last night she flipped one up on my computer desk because I wasn't paying attention to her sitting there. I can take anything out of her mouth without a problem. She takes her half pill every morning and is good to go. She seems to like the lamb and rice dog food I have better than her science diet. Knock on wood all is good and peaceful here. She a beautiful girl and I know there is the perfect home for her out there. She was great with my 6 year old grandson also. She has just started leaving the room I am in to wonder on her own now. Till next time. 11/14/05 - Ariel is doing good. She decided to have a conversation with me tonight when I was sewing a new bed cover. It seemed to prompt her conversation. She was pretty funny and rubbing herself on the side of the couch. She has picked up on funning the fence line with the other dogs on the other side. She seems to like Tony so far. She wanted to play with him tonight. I still have her leash on but she and Tony are doing fine so far. Will keep close tabs on her. She goes in the crate when I am not here. She would love to get in bed with me but I won't let her. During my nap yesterday she tried twice and that little smarty waited until I fell asleep and when I woke she was laying at my feet fast asleep. SO last night I was expecting her, every time she got off the big pillow bed she would walk around my bed and I would feel her foot on the bed and I would say no. After two tries she gave it up and stayed on the dog bed. She doesn't give up, she's a sly one. Sometimes when I tell her no she talks back to me. My word still stands. I will keep you all posted on this beautiful girl. She was great with my grandson and can run like the wind outside. 11/13/05 - I picked up Ariel and we are now home. She is beautiful. She rode very well but I noticed she was shaking a little. It must be very confusing for her. My grandson (6) is here and she is fine with him. She is wondering around the house and if I leave the room she wines a little. I did crate her for a few minutes when we got here. She was hesitant to go in but I insisted and she went. She was fine in the crate until I went in the basement then she wined. I have a gate between the front and back of the house so Tony is on one side and she is on the other. I took her out to go to the bathroom without any problems. She saw the dogs on the other side of the fence and was raring to go chase the fence line but I held her back. I will update soon after I give her time to settle in. So far so good.
11/13/05 - From Ariel's Former
Foster Mom
Ariel returned to her friends at BAR today and wasted no time in getting down to the business of playing fetch. Nothing keeps this girlie down for long and we are happy to report that she has returned with all the spunk and personality she left with!
Ariel's home made the difficult decision to return her to us
in the hopes that we can find her her "perfect" Mommy/Daddy. You see, Ariel
is a loving , very intuitive and intelligent girl which, when combined with
the ever-present Boxer energy level, makes her a lady in need of
Boxer-savvy, no-bones-about-it, alpha parents. She can be demanding and
persistent in her desires, so her new Mommy/Daddy should feel no guilt in
laying down the household law and making her tow the line. :o) She is
eager to please, once she knows you're not a push over, and loves
obedience and working challenges. She has one of the longest memories I've
come across in a dog, so consistency is the key to a happy home with
her. If you love Boxers, are unafraid to set boundaries and enforce your
household rules, and desire that one-of-a-kind bond with your dog, take a
long look at our girl Ariel.
Watch our site for updates on her in her foster home.
11/12/05 - Unfortunately
Ariel's placement did not work out and she has been returned to rescue.
She stayed overnight with one of our foster families awaiting transport
to her new foster home and this is what they had to say about Ariel: 6/24/05 - Ariel has adjusted so well to our home. We are so happy that she was sent to us from such a loving family. There were some of the things that they were working with her and we have been able to succeed with that training. She is such a wonderful addition and as always a perfect fit for us. It broke my heart to crate her the first day we left, so I left work early to let her out. The next day I didn't crate and she has been an angel. What a personality....sometimes I wonder if she is a person stuck in a dogs body. She has visited all of the neighbors and the neighborhood dogs and gets along with everyone. She is very excited she has sooooo much space to just run around. She is getting her daily exercise with either myself or with my husband. Those 5:00 am walks really wake us all up! She has met her new vet and he was overly impressed with her breeding. She is a beautiful girl. The kids are also very happy to have another companion in the house. They give her all the attention any dog could ever want. She got to go to my sister-in-laws last week for the day and was very playful there too. She just seems to adapt very well everywhere she goes. She is going to get a chance to go to the campground this weekend so this also will be a new adventure for her, but we have no reservations. Well again, to all at Boxer Angels Rescue who made this happen, thank you from the bottom of our hearts, as she is just what we wanted and hoped for. 6/16/05 - Ariel has been adopted 6/6/05 - Ariel is pending adoption
4/18/05 - Ariel is a
typical Boxer girl, full of energy and always ready to play! The flip
side of that is that she absolutely LOVES children and is a complete
cuddle bug--even going so far as to sleep snuggled under your covers.
She's loving and a joy to be around, but needs a strong-willed owner, as
she can be headstrong at times and needs to be reminded that she is NOT
in charge. 4/17/05 - Ariel has been returned to rescue because he is not getting along with the male dog in the home. She is wonderful in all other ways, but we feel now that she will need to go to a home with no other pets. 11/198/04 - Ariel has been adopted 10/25/04 - Ariel is pending adoption 10/19/04 - We can't believe that Ariel has only been here 3 days....She has adapted to the workings of the household so well! The introductions to our resident dogs over the weekend couldn't have gone better and everyone received treats, hugs and kisses for their good behavior! It seemed that once Ariel realized she was among friends and relaxed into the atmosphere, the REAL playtime began. She has been non-stop with her inspection and subsequent dispersal of every toy in the toy basket, and has lit a fire, so to speak, under the usually laid back resident doggies. It's a sight to see, all the Boxer play and woo-wooing, games of tag and keep away......When the other dogs decide to rest, Ariel is unphased.........she just heads off to find the two resident children. You know just when she's 'found' them, because the shrieks, giggles and thumping upstairs abound! There is no resisting Ariel's enthusiasm for life, and if you try, she's perfectly willing to speak her mind. This is one vocal Boxer girl, a trait that we love, thankfully! hee heeAriel's quick adjustment and fearless demeanor are a testament to her previous home and her new family will be lucky, indeed! 10/17/04 - Well Ariel came through her first night in foster care with flying colors! Even though I could tell she was a bit upset and very confused as we drove away from her Mom, she settled into the back seat and was a great passenger during the trip to her foster home. When we arrived, Ariel walked around the yard, checking out the scents and scenery and adding a scent or two of her own. Then, the resident dogs went to the attached garage while Ariel was allowed to roam/sniff the whole house. Of course, in typical Boxer fashion, her tour started and ended at the toy basket! :o) After such an exciting morning, Ariel was ready for a rest, so we crated her with her crate pad that her Mom sent for her and a couple of her favorite toys. The resident dogs then came in and there was much curious sniffing going on, but no aggression or hair raising---WONDERFUL! It's quite obvious that this girl has been well-loved and cared for her entire life so far, and we thank her Mom for providing such a wonderful home. :o) We all agree that she deserves the same in the years to come.........Are you the family that can provide that to this beautiful girl? 10/16/04 - Ariel has arrived at her new foster home! She rode wonderfully, pottied in the yard and then was given the tour of the house. She has settled into her crate, now. The other dogs have checked her out, all tails wagging and no aggression. So, we'll give her some adjustment time, as much as she needs and then proceed to intros, probably tomorrow. 9/30/04 - Ariel is an owner
surrender that needed to find a new home. Ariel's mom, who raised her from
a pup, just can not give Ariel the time and attention that she needs. It
broke her moms heart to give her up, but she knows, for Ariel's benefit,
this is the best think to do for her. this has been a very long and
agonizing decision, as we have been in contact with her for months, and
she finally realizes that she needs to do this, for Ariel. |
