4/18/06 - I wanted to give my "past two week" update even though it's a little late. Maggie (Bugsie) is now just a member of the family, she won our heart the first week we got her, but now she has settled in like she lived here forever. She has become more and more lovable and continues to improve on her listening. We did decide to get her a trainer which turned out it was more us that needed to be trained. The trainer taught us to work on her listening skills and wow, she is really smart and has picked up everything extremely quick. We are very happy to have her as a part of our family. Buster is a very happy boy, Izzy probably isn't as happy, but I think she likes her now that she listens better when we ask her to stop chasing her, she actually does......!! Thanks again to everyone at BAR, I have also signed up as a volunteer since the end of March and enjoy helping to adopt all these awesome boxers to loving homes!!

3/20/06 - Bugsie (Maggie) has been with us for a little over a week now. She is continuing to settle right in. She loves exploring in the backyard and playing with her new best friend, Buster. We introduced bones with the two of them over the weekend and they shared very nicely. They also play nicely with toys, but we are supervising them to make sure they continue to play nice. She is getting much better with Izzy, our cat. She learned that Izzy does not really want to play with her. She still needs to work a little more on her listening skills, but we are working with her and she is getting better every day! She really is a joy, everyone loves her.

3/13/06 - We picked up Bugsie this past weekend. She was a good little girl the whole drive home. She came home to meet her new friends, our current Boxer Boy, Buster and cat, Izzy. Her and Buster were best friends from the moment they met. Her and Izzy still have a few issues to work out. We renamed Bugsie to Maggie. As I am sure everyone noticed from her pictures on the site, she has the funniest little underbite and her tongue is always sticking out. She is really adjusting well, no accidents or puppy incidents. She is a well behaved girl and she has fit right in!

3/11/06 - Bugsie went to her forever home today.  We were so sorry to see her go.  Her forever parents have
received a wonderful dog that will bring them many years of joy.

3/8/06 - Bugsie is pending adoption

3/5/06 - Bugsie is wiggling her way into our hearts.  What a wonderful boxer!  Today we introduced Bugsie to our neighbor’s cat.  She was interested at first but quickly turned her attention to their dog’s toys, in typical boxer fashion.  As Bugsie becomes more confident in her surroundings she is gaining independence.  Often she can be found playing with her sibling brother.  However, Bugsie started to venture off on her own.  Trips to inspect the basement and being the first out the doggie door to romp around outside are becoming common.  We have also noticed that Bugsie enjoys good rubs!  She comes over and simply “falls” into you to receive whatever love one is willing to dish out.

3/2/06 - What a fantastic Boxer we are fostering!  We are getting to know Bugie better and she is learning the routine of our home.  She sits to put on her leash, but gets fidgety pretty quickly.  We will continue to work with her attention and other commands. When it's time to get in her crate she's the first one there waiting for her treat.  She is learning quickly to greet without jumping and doing great walking on a lead.  Yesterday her foster dad took her on a short jog.  She was right beside him and remained focused on him the entire jog. She was so excited when she came in telling me
"Daddy said I would make someone a great walking or jogging partner!"
Bugsie is a good eater.  She does have a funny habit of taking bites out of her bowl, laying them on the floor, and then eating them off the floor.
Today Bugsy had her visit to the vet and then we took her to Petco. She walked on a leash and met strangers very happy but under control.  Her sweet face caught everyone's attention.  She is quickly gaining confidence.
Bugsie learned to use the doggie door and has started to initiate play with both of her boxer siblings.  We know she will make some home very happy.

2/26/06 - Bugsie arrived yesterday and was understandably timid.  New foster home, foster parents, and foster siblings made for quite a day.  What a face on this one!  She has the most wonderful under bite that makes her look as if she is smiling.  And every once in a while her tongue likes to stick out a little.  What a comedian!  We look at her and can't help but smile.  Bugsie has started to come out of her shell and is boxing up a storm with her sibling brother.  She has wonderful boxer energy.
She walks well on a leash and knows some basic commands.  She would make a great only pet but Bugsie told us that one of favorite parts of her new foster home is playing with her sibling brother.
Bugsie slept in her crate last night without a peep.  With how sweet Bugsie is, we know she will find a forever home very soon.
