3/28/06 - Just wanted to let everyone know that Lota just left with her new dad.  Everything went well.  She seemed to really like him.  Seeing  Lota respond to him so well, made it easy for me to let her go.  He did  have a lot of questions on how to make her adjustment period easier.  So I sent out training expert, Kim, his information to contact him and explain how to walk her the first couple of times, along with when to crate her.  I think things would go great with them.

3/25/06 - Lota is pending adoption

/12/06 - Just a quick note to let everyone know that Lota is still waiting for her forever family.  She sometimes just sits and looks out the window for you.  She is a sweet girl who listens excellent.  Lota is no longer in her crate.  She has no problems being left home alone uncrated.  The house is just the way we left it when we come home.  She has come a long way since she has been here.  I really don't understand why a great girl like Lota is still in foster.  All she needs is someone to love her.  She just wants to please people. She loves everyone she meets and never jumps up on people.  She is gentle with all the kids.  She even loves to play with other dogs now.

2/21/05 - Sorry we haven't wrote in a while.  Everything here is going great.  Lota has been the prefect house guest, so I kind of forgot to update.  Not much to report, but she did get out of the yard after the fence blew down.  As soon as I realized she was gone, I went out looking for her and calling for her. She came running back to me without hesitation.  She was off exploring the woods and creek behind our house. She came back right away, but she was covered in pickers.  So she does have a few cuts on her paws that we are taking care of.  The good new is, the fence is fixed and she will not be able to escape again.  Bad news is, her one foot has a cut on it.

Lota today also showed us how great of a family dog she can be.  I had a four year old boy here today that stepped on her while she was sleeping.  She let out a whine/cry turn quickly and that was it.  The boy started to cry so a ran over but he was just scared because Lota cried.  To me that shows that she is a remarkable dog.

2/3/06 - Lota continues to excel in our home.  She has been out of her crate now for about 3 weeks with the other dogs.  They all play and sleep together with no problems.  The only time we have had a dog “disagreement” is when food comes in to play.  Lota is crated during meal times.  I want to be clear.  If a person is eating and Lota is the only dog in the house she in FINE.  She only has a problem with other dogs where food is concerned.  She is going to make sure, she is the one who get whatever may drop.
Lota is a big lap dog or so she thinks.  She loves to cuddle up with anyone she can find.  At night she sneaks into bed with my daughter.  She is a love bug.  She is more of a calm and mellow boxer verse the high energy jumping boxer.  She is also very tolerant of the young kids at my house.  If they fall or step on her she just moves out of the way.  She is here waiting for that special family to love her.

1/14/06 - Hi! It's me Lota, and I have great news that I want to share with everyone.  I now like my foster brother (Sampson) and foster sister (Princess).  We all run around the yard and house and play great together.  My foster mom is so proud of me.  She keeps calling me a "great girl".  Every now & then I still have to go in my crate.  Like when I try to tell the other dogs that they can't have any water, my foster mom yells "that is not being nice" and then she puts me in my crate for some alone time.  She also gives me treats when she gives the other dogs treats, but I have to be last
because she says I'm not the boss here.  She also said, I have become great at waiting for my turn and that she is proud of me.  Well that is all for now.  I think I will go play with my new friends now.  Bye!

1/6/06 - Just a quick update:  Lota is doing just fine.  Not much here has changed.  She still wants to be the only dog in the house.  She loves to play in the snow with the kids.  Lota got her ears cleaned and nail cut the other day by me and she was wonderful.  No issues there, she thought she was a princess getting a makeover.
Lota went to Nana Cathy's house last weekend.  She was a great house guest.  She was going to be tested with cats, but as soon as the kitty saw Lota, she was out the there and never to be seen again. It was a good two hours before Nana saw her kitty again.  Until Lota forever home finds her we will continue to love her.  She is going to make someone very happy someday, she is a great dog.

12/29/05 - Great news!  Lota is feeling 100% better.  She is a playful girl.  Santa brought Lota some doggie snacks and before she ate them, she would throw them in the air and chase after them.  She loves to play.  They only person she ever play fights with is my husband.  It is like she knows he can handle it over the kids.  One of the best things I can say about Lota is that she never trys to steal the kids snacks, like my to two dogs do.  Even though see has jumped up on the counter to see what is up there, she is not a dogs who prefers people food.
While Lota is staying with us she is crated a good part of the day.  She never seems to mind the crate.  She sleeps in it all night with no problems.  This is not because she is bad at all.  It is because of the other dogs.  She is housebroken and has never showed signs that she suffers separation anxiety.  So the crate would be up to her owners, but it appears that she has been in one before here.
When Lota is out of her crate, I would say she is low keyed.  She gets in playful moods, but she is also just happy to snuggle with you.  One night we could not find her to put her in her crate, she was passed out in bed with my six year daughter.  When Lota finds her forever home, she will be very missed.

12/19/05 - Just wanted to let everyone know that Lota is feeling better and we even see her playful side now.  She was playing this weekend with my husband and she was very gentle, even when he would get a little rough with her.  We really do enjoy her being her.  Lota does know commands such as sit, paw, stay and come. Lota goes in her crate when it is time with no problems.  She has never had an accident in the house.  Lota seems to love all people she meets here.  I guess her only down fall is, she does not like our dogs here.  When she meets a dog out on a walk she is fine.  Just when they are in the house with her, she gets attitude.  Right now Lota is out her an evening walk with her foster dad.  I think they have grown fond of each other.  It will be hard to see her leave someday, but I'm sure she would love a family of her own.

12/15/05 - Introducing Lota, a beautiful, soft, brindle girl who came to stay with us on Saturday.  She was picked up at a shelter, an owner surrendered her.  No reason why.  Lota is house trained.  We have not had ANY accidents in the house.  She is also crate trained and does not seem to mind being in the crate at all.  She loves to be with people.  She is wonderful with the kids.  She will take treats from them so gently.   She does not jump up on people when she meets them.  But she has jumped up to counter surf.  The only fault Lota seems to have here is that she does not like my boxers.  So they have to remain separated.

From being in a shelter Lota does have a cold and cough.  She is on an antibiotics for that.  Lota also looks like she could gain about 5 to 10 pounds. Other than a cold and the need for a little weight gain, I would say Lota is a great looking, mellow girl.
