Niko is part of BAR's Foster-to-Adopt Program which means that his present foster family has 2 weeks to keep him in their home and to decide if they wish to adopt him.  If he is not a perfect match for their family, he will remain with them and become available for adoption.

2/26/06 - Niko has been neutered and is already to be adopted.

2/1/06 - Niko is being adopted by his Foster-to-Adopt Mom.  Congratulations.  Anther great match!

1/23/06 - Niko arrived to stay with Peggy from a shelter, just a few days ago. Apparently  he was a very popular  boy there and  the staff would sneak in to give him love. I visited them at home to see how they were getting along. Niko is a big brindle boy who could stand to lose a few pounds. Living the rural life with Peggy and her horse he will get plenty of fresh air and nice walks so he will soon be trim and have a body to match his handsome personality. Niko is friendly and outgoing and was very happy to meet and walk with my own dog and was equally happy when we  sat in Peggy's kitchen for a cup of coffee, the two boys lay down and relaxed.  Although Niko has been allowed to pull on the lead, right now he is having training from Peggy and will soon be a model student. He sits and lies down on command and is very happy to snooze in the house after his walk. Although  on Niko's  first meeting with Peggy's horse he was apprehensive and barked, by the second meeting he was much quieter and  on my visit we all walked around the paddock together, very calm.  As Peggy doesn't have internet access we will update in the future after chatting with her on the phone. Niko was a very sweet boy to meet and as I drove away from Peggy's house I  caught a glimpse of him looking over his shoulder at my truck as they walked back to the house, so I think he enjoyed our visit too.
