6/1/06 - Just wanted to ask who i need to send Webster's report card to for his obedience class. He passed with flying colors. Could not find any emails for this kind of information. Webster is doing just GREAT!! Has gained almost 20 pounds and looks great.
Thank you for all you do for our little lost angels
Marilee & Ray

3/27/06 - Webster has fit in very nice to our home.  You would think he has been here for years.  He only goes into his cage when we go out for long periods of time.  He has gained 6 pounds and is becoming a big boy.  He is still working on chasing a ball not so sure he likes it.  He stumbles over his legs and acts like a deer.  So he just goes out for the fun of it.. He does go jogging with Justine and does very well, he just loves to run.. He is full of licks and kisses and has lots of stories to tell.  He is one of the most vocal dogs I have ever had.  We have 5-6 cadet boys over to our house every weekend, and Webster is in heaven! He looks at them like they are playmates, just a little bigger. He has become a very big part of our family and we All LOVE him.  He was introduced to our 7 month old nephew the other day and he was very good with him.  Just gave him a lick and walked away as if to say that is way to much work for me.  We are very grateful to the BAR for giving us such a great Angel named Webster:)

3/17/06 - Webster has been with us for a week today and is doing great. He loves his new family and shows it
any chance he can.. He has stopped bolting out the door, does NOT drink out of the toilet and has put on about 3 pounds.  What a great little guy he is and Lacy our boxer just loves him.  You would think he has been at our house forever he tries so hard to please everyone and is doing a good job at it.  Yesterday I told him Webster we have to be quiet this morning the girls are sleeping.  When I turned around Webster was in his crate just looking out and watching the morning action going on.  Webster is very vocal he loves to tell you stories, sometimes very long stories, but for the most part he just kind of wines his story and no barking.  Webster was very luck to have such
great foster families.  We just LOVE him and he loves us.  There are some post adoption pictures at the right for everyone to see.

3/14/06 - Webster has spent his first weekend with us and has made himself right at home. He acts as if we have always had him.. He did have a few accidents, but that is to be expected and we are working on them to be corrected. He is a love and wants everyone to like him and we all do.  His new sister Lacy thinks he is just a big toy. They play until they can not play anymore and then sleep for a few hours.  Webster has gained 2 pounds and his ribs are staring to disappear.

3/11/06 - Webster has been adopted

3/7/06 - Webster is Pending Adoption

3/6/06 - Well, Webster is really blossoming and showing us what HUGE potential he has to be the perfect pet! He has learned so much since he's been here. He no longer bolts out the door, but you'll still need to give him the command to stay until released out the door. When I say "do you want to go out?" he sits down, away from the door,  and waits to move until I say it's OK. I had Webster out with me last week for almost 2 hours, alone, and he rarely barked, except for a few yips. Perhaps he is just very vocal when he is in around other dogs. His ribs are less visible now and only needs to put on  a few more pounds. He goes in his crate like a very good boy (we treat him for doing it, of course) and he doesn't whimper at all. He is infatuated with chewy toys and keeps himself busy with them. We are crazy about Webster (he is such a cool, handsome boy) and know he will work hard on pleasing his new, forever family because he loves to be loved and gives lots back in return.

2/28/06 - Hello again! Just wanted to write another update on Webster as I think those of you who are watching him might be wondering what's it's been like living with him lately....well, I am happy to report that it is GREAT! Webster really is so sweet (& a bit goofy, too!). He actually looks to have inherited more of the Boxer's mastif nature, but he is full of Boxer antics, through & through!
Here are a few more tidbits about Webster: he likes to drink out of toilets and now has a new-found love of the shower  (which might be why the "water bottle trick" doesn't work on  his barking). Over the weekend, all the dogs were tearing it up in our back yard and they were covered in mud, so my husband carried them up the stairs, one by one, into the tub to be washed off. Happy to say that Webster did fine, but now, every morning when I get in the shower, his nose pushes the curtain aside and he tries to catch the drops that are spraying down. I keep pulling the curtain back and when he finally gives up, he just rests his jowls on the side of the tub. It is so funny! Again, we
struggle with Webster's barking- at first I thought he just wanted to be heard, since he seems to know his place in the "pack" here, but I also think he might just be trying to talk or say that he is happy and very excited. Anyway, I know our neighbors do not appreciate, so I will reiterate again- this will be something that will have to be addressed. He might not do it if there are no other dogs around, not sure. He does love to play with toys, so make sure that you have an endless supply!!! He also is a creature of comfort and SNORES to let you know just how comfortable he is. He plays hard and sleeps hard, like a young boy would! It will be heartbreaking when he leaves, but we know Webster will really enjoy being spoiled and knowing that he has earned his very own special family to call him their "king" will make up very satisfied and happy.

2/23/06 - Hello again from Webster's new Foster home. Bonnie and I decided it would be in Webster's best interest to stay here where he can be free to run in a fenced in yard. I must say that Webster would definitely need to be in a home where there is a yard that is fenced in. He needs to run off all his puppy energy! Even when I call my other two Boxers inside, Webster comes up to the back door and looks at me like "would you mind if I stay out a little bit longer?" He really does like to investigate. Again, I will state that he does like to bark, especially when he sees our neighbor's dog. We have tried some methods to curb this, but inside, the water bottle trick didn't seem to work- Angie keeps trying to catch the spray of water in her mouth and Webster somehow looks at her thinking "hey, wasn't this supposed to be my "treat". Very funny to watch!!!
He continues to be good with the kids, but he does think that you always want to play with him and sometimes he "play bites" and doesn't differentiate that this could possibly be scaring or hurting someone. I would strongly suggest this boy be placed with someone that will not also think the same: cute puppy habits are not "cute" when they come from full grown dogs.  He will need consistency and firmness so he knows the difference.  I also feel that he should be placed in a home where, if there are children, they know not to let him get too rough. I truly believe that Webster would not intentionally hurt anyone, but he can get wound up and his playing starts to get out of control if you do not nip it or channel it in another way, like fetch or chase.
I took Webster for a walk on a leash so I could add it to my update. While he doesn't constantly pull or drag, he can be strong if he sees something interesting. He comes back to heel with a  gentle tug and command, but again, this will have to be reinforced. I say all these things not to make it seem like Webster is a "bully" or "wild", but to stress that he is still very immature and, with simple training, will be the perfect Boxer! He has already mastered sitting at the door, waiting to be released and he is responding to "come " and "stay" better every day (it help that he likes to get lots of treats!).
He still needs to put on some weight- we have been feeding him twice a day. His muscle tone has improved tremendously and he's really starting to look sooooo handsome. I said to my husband "maybe we could keep Webster, you know, we'll buy another couch so the dogs can have theirs and we can have ours..." He is a real lovey and it is very hard to resist his charms. He does like comfort and curls up with us whenever he can- hopefully his new home will not think this is a bad thing as Webster loves to be close to people. We allow this because we think Webster needs all the love and attention he can get~ obviously he had been neglected for a very long time.
Please consider all these things about Webster- he is a "diamond in the rough" and will warm your heart, but it will take time and effort. Anyone who knows Webster knows he is well worth it!!!
Oh! One more important thing to know about Webster, which may be why he is with us in the first place: he is infatuated with trying to escape out our front door! He bolted out one day when my husband came in, and ran a straight line down the road!!! He didn't stop once or even look back when we called him. I got in my car and drove up next to him, opened the door and he jumped in, but I think only because he is so curious. Perhaps he got out too many times on his previous owner and they gave up trying to catch him- or maybe he just kept on going and they couldn't find him. I know shelters have to hold dogs for a certain amount of days in case someone is looking for their lost dog, but he really is poised at the door, ready to get out the second you let your guard down. We let our dogs out in the back yard, and Webster has learned to sit and wait to be released, even if I open the door, they all wait until the command is given- but the front door is a totally different story! So....something to keep in mind. Our three children are always coming and going, but they are all well aware of how he is and are very careful to make him back up and sit. If we didn't enforce this, I am sure he would take off again.

2/20/06 - Hello there! Webster has been with us since last Wednesday evening. Bonnie and her husband were flying out of town and asked me if I could take him for a week. I will admit that I am going to hate to see him him go (maybe Bonnie will let us keep him until he gets adopted:) Webster is a great dog! At first introduction with our female Boxer Angie, he was very playful. We later introduced our male Boxer Rosco but it was Rosco that was not too keen on the idea of him being close to us or our 3 children- protective aggression. At no time did Webster challenge Rosco or fight back. I would say he is a passive dog. I have witnessed Angie take toys from him and he did not get upset at all. He is not food aggressive, but we have been feeding him separately from our dogs as he gets lots of "extras" to help put weight on. He still needs to put on some pounds, but I also think he is burning more off while he has been here as we have a fenced in yard and he loves to run! Webster has free run of our house and he has been going out with both dogs and plays nice with them.
Webster can be a bit barky at times. He thinks he is a lap dog, always climbing up on your legs or putting his front feet on the side of the bed in the morning. He listens well and learns quick. He waits to be fed and we are working hard at having him wait at the door to be released. Whoever gives him a home will have to help him with some manners like barking and jumping up on people. He knows basic commands and really does try to do what is asked of him. We have been working on "come" and "stay" and he is slowly starting to understand. He is not destructive and goes to the door when he needs to go out. I think he would do best in a home with a place to run a lot. He has an enormous amount of energy! On the second day he was here it was pouring rain outside and he was in most of the day. He was very boisterous and ran throughout our house all day.
Webster has been great with our 3 children- ages 7, 9 and 11- nothing but kisses (as you can see from the picture with my daughter Maxine).  Webster goes in the crate with no problem and does not make any noise.  Honestly, my husband and I talked about keeping him- he's that good, but we would like another family to be able to experience the joys of having a Boxer.  I think Webster would like to be in a home with another dog as he has so much energy, he would constantly be seeking it and another dog would keep him entertained and occupied.  He plays all the time with our Angie and really only lays down to sleep at night.  He still shows a lot of signs of "puppyhood", but it is all acceptable behavior, not getting into things.  Webster is a gorgeous boy and so lovable- anyone opening up their home to him would not regret it.

2/16/06 - Well Webster has been welcomed by my 2 resident boxers. The introductions went very smoothly!!! They all have been romping for days as though everyone has been here forever. My Apollo who is the easy going guy just kisses Webster back when Web decides to kiss.  It is soooo cute. My Alpha male likes to play with him but he is older and sometimes gets a little jealous of Webster getting attention which means I pay extra attention to my alpha dog. Webster is eating great and even looks like the ribs are disappearing. He even sits when I put his dish down and waits for the release. He was owned by someone for sure. He is an absolute love bug. My BAR friend Susan took him last nite while I am in sunny Fla for a few days. This will give him some time with children also. He is a pup who loves his toys and will make a great addition to your home. So put the applications in today. Did I mention how smart he is? He seems to understand everything.... More updates soon

2/11/06 - Well Here I am!!!! My name is Webster aka Tito. My new foster mom and dad liked Webster better. I was found wandering and taken in by a vet. There just happened to be a worker there who knew my foster mom loved boxers and volunteered for rescue. When they came to look at me I knew they were boxer people cause they let me kiss and kiss. Wow was I happy. Soon they came back and took me with them. Wow this place has toys that I love and soft beds to lay in. Then I saw these 2 guys that looked like me except bigger. I better watch myself here!!!! After eating kennel food this stuff here tastes good. I get extra rice and yogurt oh boy. My foster mom and dad let me kiss them a lot but I didn't know why the other guys were in cages. Soon though they came out to play with me. Apollo lets me kiss him but Dominic is a little standoffish. My mom says she can hardly tell us apart except Dominic has short ears. I get extra treats because I am a little skinny she says.
My mom says soon I will be ready for a good home that will be my forever home. I really like it here but I want my own special family. I know sit and I am learning come so I will be adopted quick. Hopefully my weight will go up and I will fill out so my ribs don't show so much cause I want my new family to be so proud of me. We, I mean my foster brothers and I are going to work on pictures tomorrow so watch for me. I am a cutie.. if you can call a big boy like me that.
