1/3/08 - Dewey's vet appt. went well and we have decided to adopt him.

11/25/07 - Dewey has been doing well adjusting to his new environment.  He has some minor issues that need to be addressed.  Mainly, he needs to know how to play without biting.  He always bites hands or feet when playing.  He is very active and enjoys going on walks and loves to drive in the car.  He is well behaved while driving inside the car.  He gets very excited when someone new comes in the house.  He will bark and jump for a couple of seconds and then calms down pretty quickly.  He has a tendency to pee on the floor when really excited but knows he’s done wrong and goes right to the door to be let out. We gave him his first bath the other day and he didn’t like it one bit. We had to pick him up to get him in the tub and then he just stood there shaking the whole time. Once the bath the over he was nervous about going near the bathroom for a few days thinking we might try to get him in the tub again. Everyday he is getting better at listening and has become a wonderful additional to our home.

11/17/07 - Dewey is settling in nicely to our hectic routine at times. He is very affectionate with us, but at times can start off kissing and end up nipping at our feet or hands. Usually with a stern 'no' he stops, but we have had to resort to giving him a toy when he gets too worked up so he will stop chewing on us. We are trying to teach him to play nice and not so rough. He follows both of us around like a shadow, but also listens when you tell him to lay on his pillow. Usually around 9pm he will settle in with his blanket and pillow and even go into the crate for the night on his own if we keep him up too late. Often times when we are sitting or laying on the couch he will come up and put his head on us and give plenty of boxer kisses. So far we have not given him the run of the house when we are not home, but he has been great when we are home, not having any accidents yet. He seems to love his crate and often even when we open the door he doesn't come out right away. We hope to get him to a vet next week.

11/15/07 - Dewey is doing great. We picked him up in CT on Monday. He was great for the almost 2 1/2 hour car
ride back to MA. He has adjusted to us very well. He is young and energetic and has been very affectionate. He has done very well in his crate and has not had any accidents. He already goes to the back door to be let out when needed and gives a little "woof" when he wants back in. He seems to know sit and stay although could use a little work on the leash, but seems to be responding to any commands pretty well. I will update more when we get him to a vet.
