2/24/08 - Zeus (aka funnyface) was a great and well mannered passenger on our ride home in the car yesterday.  He was a little nervous at first, but settled down within minutes and was asleep within an hour or so (we had a 3.5 hour ride). We stopped a couple of times to let him out and he did OK on the leash.  When we got him to my parents house to meet the kids, he was quite a gentleman.  He was very friendly and loved the attention he received.  We tried to take him for a nice walk, but he did not like the cold weather.  He was eating treats out of our daughter's hand!  He seemed a little hungry after we were there a while, so we gave him a cup of food.  We only gave him one cup because he had already eaten 3 earlier in the day at his foster home.  He gobbled that food right up!  He drank a lot of water too.  It is cute how he drinks...dipping his tongue at the edge of the dish. Zeus is a quiet but a very good boy.  The kids want to play with him, but he is not quite ready to play with them yet. He is very snuggly and sweet.  He likes to be pet!  My dad kept saying that we got a good dog for our family. We feel the same!  Michael and the kids took him for a walk when we got home this afternoon.  Zeus seemed to like that!  Zeus will be meeting his new vet tomorrow.  Dr. White LOVES boxers!  Our boy is playing with a treat on the floor (boxing it around) right now.  He is a cutie!  He has had no accidents at all. We haven't heard him bark at all either.  He is such a good boy.  We are so happy that our home is now Zeus's forever home!! :) :)

2/24/08 - Great news---Zeusy boy went to his forever home yesterday.  He is with a super family that will give him all the attention and affection he deserves.  I was sad to see him go but I am thrilled that he will have a great life.  Best of luck and all my love my Zeusy boy.

2/9/08 - Zeus is pending adoption

2/3/08 - Zeus is an absolute sweetheart.  He has not had an accident in the house or damaged anything.  He loves to wrestle with you and play like a typical boxer.  He is very gentle and would be a great friend for children of all ages.  He is pretty mellow for a boxer.  Zeus doesn't jump all over you.  Still has very good manners.  He is going to have his teeth cleaned and some problem areas fixed on valentines day.  Then he should be ready for his forever home.  You couldn't find a sweeter boy than him.  His appetite has picked up nicely.  I still soften his hard food with warm water and add a can of soft food.  He has trouble eating plain hard food because of his dental aches right now---but he will be as good as new soon. Let's get those apps in for old funny face.  He is awaiting his forever home, although, we will miss him dearly.

1/22/08 - Still no problems here with Zeus.  He is such a sweetie.  A very gentle soul.  I would still like to see a little weight added on to his bones.  I've been feeding him 2 times a day.  He likes soft food mixed in with the hard stuff.  No accidents in the house at all.  He goes to the back door to let you know he wants to go out.  He sleeps all night long---not a peep.  Zeus really enjoys snuggling up on his fluffy fleece dog bed.  He is so deserving of a safe and warm forever home filled with love.  He is good with all other dogs and children of all ages.  He doesn't jump all over you like some dogs do.  He also will not jump up on furniture unless he is invited.  He is quite content on the floor.  I did cat test him, and he followed the cats around the house with great curiosity, but he didn't hurt them.  I'm not sure if his prey drive will kick in and this would change.  He does like to chase a squirrel that hangs out in my yard.  He really is an obedient, good boy.   If he has the right pack leader, a cat would probably be fine.  Haven't heard him growl or even bark yet. I can't emphasize enough that he is such a GENTLE SOUL.  He has a well visit on Thursday
and I will let everyone know how that goes.

1/18/08 - Just a quick update on my Zeusy boy.  His appetite has seemed to increase today.  It was relatively nice outside so he had a long walk.  He did very well and he gets so excited when he sees you go to get his leash.  He also had a nice bath today.  He didn't really care for it too much but he was pretty good anyway.  I also haven't mentioned that the faces he makes are hysterical.  Sometimes you look at him and he seems like he's smiling at you, other times his tongue is hanging out of his closed mouth.  Still no problems with him at all.  He is a love bug----a gentle soul.  Get those apps in.

1/17/08 - Zeusy boy has been with us for 5 days now and he is such a gentle soul.  I've heard him bark one time since he's been here.  He loves a good scratchin and loves to play "box" with my boxers.  I haven't seen him play with a toy as of yet.  Zeus has not had any accidents in the house and has not exhibited a destructive bone in his body.  He is well behaved on walks and rarely gets ahead of me.  HE has been a perfect gentleman with my children.  He doesn't mind them hanging all over him at all.  My only concern with this guy is that he is a picky eater.  I mix wet and dry food together for him.  He also will eat dry food alone if you sprinkle some cheese on it.  Zeus is not much of
a treat dog either.  He does not jump all over you like most boxers do.  He has great manners so far.  He has not climbed on the furniture at all.  I invited him over to me while I was on the couch, and he reluctantly put both front paws up on me.  I scratched him for a good 20 minutes and he didn't move.  He loves affection, and is well deserving of it.  I hope to find him a home with another dog to keep him company.  He seems to be doing well in this kind of environment.  Kids would be great too.  OF course, I would love a forever home that will take him with them everywhere.  He is great in the car and he really craves human company.  Zeus is scheduled for a well visit next
week.  I will let all know how his health checks out.

1/13/08 - Zeus arrived here safely after a long ride from New York.  He has already made himself at home and seems pretty darn happy to be here. He was very well behaved on the ride home.  He laid down in the back seat and looked out the window.  When he arrived at his foster destination, he was introduced to our children and was full of wiggles and kisses.  He is a silly boy.  His lip gets stuck on his underbite and he has the funniest look on his face.  He was one of the easiest fosters to introduce to my pack.  Usually, this takes a few days, but Zeus is a nice submissive energy, and he was welcomed by my 3 fur babies easily.  He enjoyed a long walk and a nice romp in the yard.  He walked well with me today.  My 10 year old son also took him for a stroll and didn't have any problems.  Looks as though Zeus will require a home willing to exercise him well.  He still has a puppy energy, but it was easily drained with some exercise today ====he then settled down for a nice nap===snoring and all.  I would like to see him in a home with children that will keep him active and his energy in check.  Zeus also seems to love another dog around.  Zeus and my Bruce are like long lost friends.  They've been playing tug a war at every chance they get.    He has not jumped up on any of us yet and I will continue to work on his manners to make sure he  stays that way.  He also hasn't tried to climb on the furniture yet which is good because he hasn't been invited.  I had him in the crate for a short time while I couldn't watch him and he was quiet.  He has gone to the back door all day to let us know he needed to do his business.  NO accidents so far in the house.  He seems to know the sit and down commands.  Get those apps in on this guy.  He would love to follow you to the ends of the earth.  He will make a great traveling buddy. I will get some pictures tomorrow and get them posted.
